Advantages And Disadvantages Of Technology In Business
In today's world, new companies are presenting innovation everyday which have ability to reshape
entire industries. Innovation changes influence practically all aspect of our lives. Because of the
advances in correspondence and computer science, about anything you can envision is just few
clicks away. technological developments are extending at a quicker rate than people can figure out
how to learn and adjust new aptitudes, which animates the obliteration of occupations in low skilled
divisions. There are advantages and disadvantages of using technology in business world. The usage
of technology shows efficient way to work and these procedures get comes out positive.
The technology and components that helped businesses to change how they progress over the years.
Innovation Changing so quickly for organizations and the capacity to receive new advance
technology is turning into an indispensable system. This is absolutely valid in realm of worldwide
business. Technology has been used mostly in every company to accomplish most of their tasks.
Because of the technology it has changed the way we work, and how things have been seen
differently in the work environment. The technology helps to reduce human errors which can be
caused by too much work load. For example, due to advance technology business can be done
globally and it's convenient for the companies to communicate through video calling or sending
emails.
Economic conditions affect all organizations, however independent companies regularly feel the
impact of financial changes quicker than their bigger partners. Rises in the economy commonly give
a surge of new or extended business open doors for small organization, while a descending
economic cycle can have a serious and enduring effect. In a strong economy, almost all
organizations appreciate more significant prosperity. For example, now this day most of the car
parts are made by robots, which takes away human job even in strong and low economy. Because of
strong economy income is high, and unemployment is low. In my opinion, small businesses of
technology have an advantage over large businesses. Small business. Because small business would
not take much risk to invest their money into modern technology

Dynamic Capability Concept Of Strategic Management
Many organizations are adopting the dynamic capability concept especially in the management
department in the aspect of strategic management. Teece, Pisano and shuen., (1997) defines this
concept as the ability of an organization to build, reconfigure and integrate external and internal
competencies in order to manage the rapidly changing environment. This concept is an extension of
the Resource Base View in the context of its ability to adapt to change in technology. The ability of
an organization to attain competitive advantage in the market is subject to innovation. Dynamic
capability is unique because of competitive market position and path dependency.
The Concept of Dynamic Capability
Business organizations are composed of intangible and tangible assets. It is more challenging to
manage the intangible assets. However, intangible assets are the main makers of sustainable value
creation. Competitive advantage results from valuable skills, processes and capacities which are not
easily duplicated by competitors. Dynamic capabilities enable an organization to innovate new
developments. However, dynamic capabilities are easily not transferable. Resources form an
organization's foundation hence forms a basis for an organization's capabilities (Teece, Pisano &
Shuen, 1997). Resources are regarded as facilitators of competitive advantage. In environments of
dynamic market however, the resources do not last for a long time and in that case, they cannot lead
into competitive

Advantages Of Competitive Advantage
Competitive advantage and sustainable competitive advantage
All men can see these tactics whereby I conquer, but what none can see is the strategy out of which
victory is evolved. By Sun Tzu
Tactics may represent a brief competitive advantage. Strategy might signify a constant competitive
benefit.
An organization must implement a set of competitive advantages which can maintained and required
for the customer, fulfilling their requirements with the goal that they will pay for the value to
contend adequately in the worldwide condition.
Value chain analysis is a capable instrument for the organization to distinguish its important actions
as having the capacity to finish competitive need and make predominant routines. The value chain
has been utilized as an intense tool for management as it comprises of the various activity the
company uses to produce value and its profit. (Edwards, 2002)
Value Chain
The idea of the value chain is based on the process view of JULIA JUICE, the idea of seeing a JJ
organization as a system, made up of subsystems each with inputs, (mindtools, 2017) Conversion
procedures and productivities. Inputs, conversion procedures, and productivities include the
procurement and utilization of assets – cash, work, materials, hardware, structures, land,
organization and administration. How value chain exercises are executed, decide expenditures and
generate benefits.

Satire On Technology
Tech Wreck
Every day technology is getting bigger and better. But do we really know what effects technology is
having on us, the human race? For starters many people complain technology is making us lazier,
antisocial beings. Others argue there are devastating effects on the planet. Some might even go as
far to say that technology may be the death of mankind. There is also the chance that once the
human race is wiped out, technology will continue to live on without us. Then it all comes down to
the final question, do we really need to keep improving technology? Let's take a closer look.
Technology makes humans lazier and antisocial. With everyone on their phones all the time, it's rare
to have a face to face conversation, and 'social' media certainly doesn't help here. These apps allow
people to think they have a great social life when in reality they're sitting at home on the couch. A
staggering 71% of teenagers admit to using facebook (Fig 1). These addictive apps are making us
antisocial and extremely lazy too. A lot of people don't go out and exercise as often as they should,
or even at all for that matter. This leads to a rise in obesity as well as sleep deprivation and stress. In
the past 25 years obesity rates in children has almost tripled, and I think you know why. Clearly
technology is not making us better people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Advances in technology have resulted in habitat loss due to clearing of land, chemical
contamination and has enhanced global warming. Sustainable technology is producing more than
600 tons of greenhouse gas for every gigawatt of energy produced. This is destroying the ozone

Karl Marx And Martin Heidegger: The Role Of Technology
We live in a day and age where technology is constantly developing. The role of technology in our
lives is a question that has been asked for many years. For example, the invention of the telescope
was considered to be the beginning of an alienated society. This invention "finally forced nature, or
rather, the universe, to reveal its secrets" (Arendt 394). This new revelation resulted in techno
optimism and pessimism. Techno optimism is the belief that technology can make the world better
off, while techno pessimists believe that technology is the reason why there is a broken relationship
between the balance of society and nature ("Techno–Optimism" 452). Philosophers Karl Marx and
Nick Bostrom question the role of technology through a techno optimist viewpoint, while Hannah
Arendt and Martin Heidegger are techno pessimists. In a world that is increasingly dependent on
technology, I believe that although technology is efficient, there is a fine line as to when it starts to
disrupt our humanity.
Both Karl Marx and Martin Heidegger have distinct beliefs on the role that technology plays in our
lives. Heidegger makes a clear distinction in handicraft versus emerging technologies. Handicraft
technologies are acceptable in that they bring us closer to the land and accentuate the human
experience. For example, a windmill "does not unlock energy from the air currents in order to store
it"(Heidegger 309). Rather, the windmill is just dependent on the wind and does not utilize the

Ontological Interrogative Essay
The very foundation of our country's establishment lies within the creative genius that our founding
fathers had. To come from a patriarchal sovereignty to the Americas was no happenstance or wild
coincidence. The founding of America illuminated the ingenuity in which we champion on a day to
day basis. The ability to think freely and develop our own ideas, values and beliefs is a human right
that should be protected. Inalienable Rights are those that cannot be taken away; yet, there are
constraints on safety that protects against discrimination and theft of property which includes that of
intellectual property as well. We live in a time in our world where the complex challenges that

The objective of this ice breaker is for the students to think creatively expressing their ingenuity by
revealing how valuable their item is by listing all the various uses for the household items. After the
students present their item and why theirs is the most valuable, I ask them why they believe I had
them complete this ice breaker and the responses were intriguing. One student stated, "We did this
to show us how to work as a team." Another student stated, "You had us do this task to show us that
we can find value within the most trivial things like a rubber band or a plastic bag." The latter
statement was awe–inspiring as someone understood my objective–to get the students to challenge
cultural hegemony, together. It is fascinating watching these students converse amongst themselves
as an educator because I am afforded the opportunity to see just how different policies are made in a
practical sense as there were three types of students during this interaction: the students that
bounced ideas off everyone, students that agreed with everything that was said regardless of how
they felt and the students that did not say anything at all. One can only imagine that these are the
same type of occurrences as public administrators develop a policy agenda that would subsequently
indicate which people, places, things and concepts have value. What happens in

The Half–Truth of First–Mover Advantage
The first–mover advantage is defined as a firm's ability to be better off than its competitors as a

Military Technology Research Paper
The multitude and truncation of the military is nearly impossible to capture as one entity, so here we
will look at the seven technologies and pick the best application for their use on the military
industrial complex as a whole. The military is continuously seeking ways to gain the upper hand
against a formidable adversary or improving weapons capabilities and even sustainability. Looking
at the military through the lens of the seven technologies, it is apparent their application is
appropriate and needed.
When dealing with a global organization that reacts at the speed of the information received,

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY POLICY
Since independence from the British rule in 1947, India has been investing a significant part of its
resources, in creating quality institutions of higher education and research. In 1958 Indian
Government passed a "Scientific Policy Resolution 1958", which stated: "The key to national
prosperity, apart from the spirit of the people, lies, in the modern age, in the effective combination
of three factors, technology, raw materials and capital, of which the first is perhaps the most
important, since the creation and adoption of new scientific techniques can, in fact, make up for a
deficiency in natural resources, and reduce the demands on capital. But technology can only grow
out of the study of science and its applications." In keeping with this objective the Government has
established a number of scientific publications in regional languages for school children and other
groups in the society to increase scientific awareness in India. These publications are available to
public at large mostly at subsidized, affordable rates. Finally, in 2003 a "Science and Technology
Policy" was announced, which recognized "the changing context of the scientific enterprise".

technologies that can process different kinds of information i.e. voice, video, text, data and
facilitates different forms of communications among humans and among information systems. The
telecommunication infrastructure plays an important role to boost the development of a country in

communications equipment and the services associated with them." ICT is not just considered as

Human Alienation and Computational Ecopoetics Essay
Computational Ecopoetics project is centred on human alienation from nature as an underlying
contemporary cultural framework and uses the capacity of the poetic bringing–forth to restore us to
the earth and land as our home. Restoring us to the earth is the project of ecopoetics as
phenomenological rather than political frame that constitutes the most direct return to the place of
dwelling. The question is in what respects a poetic computation may be a making (poiesis) of the
dwelling place (eco– Greek oikos, the home or place of dwelling).

The technological fix to environmental problems leads to sustainability that frames earth as a
recyclable, renewable, and, ultimately, replaceable resource. Fixing the problem in the sense of
conserving, regenerating, and nourishing the resource base of capitalism. It is no longer an issue of
how to convince people to accept and promote sustainability, but of whether we can and how to
overcome the alienation and reification from nature that had emerged with capitalism,
industrialization, and urbanization? It is critical to consider whether we can ever approach Nature in
an non–ideological way or are all attempts to capture Nature, theoretically, poetically or narratively,
nothing more than our own appropriation of it? techné (art/artifice) is opposed to physis (nature),
most fundamentally in terms of causality. The opposition between physis and techné has generated
the traditional divisions we have in Western philosophy among nature and culture. In Heidegger's
text, Being and Time, the concept of being in–the–world places primary emphasis on equipment
rather than physiology. The understanding of world as a network of interdependent relations at a
variety of levels, conceptualized in human terms, limits our ability to comprehend natural
earthliness. "All that we will ever be able to say, or think or experience of supposedly natural
phenomena is necessarily situated within the world."(Heidegger) Heidegger retains a sense of

The Scenarios Of Consumer 's Futures 2020
By 2020, the world could develop into a myriad of different scenarios, but there is no one scenario
that can accurately represent what the US, let alone the world, will become–even in four short years.
The four scenarios in "Consumer's Futures 2020" has options that could unfold, but it is unlikely in
such a short timeframe. Nevertheless, the most likely of the four–presented scenarios to me is 'sell it
to me.' This is because the scenario allows people to keep spending and minimizes the work
individuals have to put into becoming more sustainable. It also marks a more prosperous,
flourishing economy that enables the option to buy more selectively the brands and products that
intrigue them. Lastly, this scenario utilizes the technology that we are already hyper reliant on to
generate more personalized business. Many of these aspects are already occurring to some degree,
but I can see them becoming more prominent over time.
The market is currently well on the mend, with unemployment rates decreasing and overall incomes
increasing; I disagree with the scenario as, contrary to scenario 3, awareness of income inequality is
more mainstream and being combated. With this increasing upward mobility, consumers want to
buy more and more, as many US citizens mark their prosperity on how much you can buy. Already
emerging is the demand for organic foods to be sold in conventional grocery stores. People also
spend a little extra to buy brands that give them the perception of wealth–like

Impact Of The Industrial Revolution On The World Essay
Since the first time an image was transported to a laptop screen or a handheld device was used to
communicate to people in other countries, the world has been a system of calls, emails, texts, and
networks that are all categorized under the term technology. We started off with technology that
helped us forage for food or manage our livestock. However, tech today is a basis of
telecommunications and the use of different mechanical mechanisms that are seemingly robotic.
How far we have come from the beginning of the first civilizations to what we are able to do now
illustrates the impact of the industrial revolution and, some may say, tech revolution. We are still
booming and at every corner that is turned new advancements are introduced into society that was
not thought about before. It seems that we should be all "tech" savvy and a life without technology
would be a little unnerving to say the least. Others say that this dependence makes "robots" or us
less human. Throughout the research conducted on technology, there were news articles assumingly
concluding that we are "humans merging with technology and turning into robots" and another
similarly arguing that we need to "become cyborgs or risk humans being turned into robots." These
may not be scholarly articles but are interesting to see and notice the perspective that people believe
to be true. The extremely absurd notion that we are so heavily dependent on technology that we will
turn into robots may actually be true.

An Educator's Need for Continual Professional Development
In order for an institution, educational or otherwise, to remain competitive, its leadership must
strategically plan for the future. Awareness of trends in the marketplace, competition for market
share, and consumer expectations and demands must all be considered. In addition, a critical
component of strategic planning must include opportunities for employees to participate in continual
professional development that is timely, meaningful and sustainable. For educators, whether in
corporate, K–12, or higher education settings, the need for continual professional development is
essential.
Why is there a need for a Professional Development Course for Online Instructors?
Today's consumer demands and expects a certain level of technology to be available to them at all
times. Phrases like "21st Century Skills" (Grunwald Associates, 2010) and "Web 2.0" are becoming
commonplace to the layperson and considered to be expected competencies by hiring managers.
Online education has shown steady growth over the last several years and this rate of growth is
projected to continue or increase over the next several years. Instructors or "facilitators" in the
online setting are faced with challenges and opportunities unique from those faced by instructors
who teach in a face–to–face setting. Without proper training instructors may not use technology
effectively and risk losing opportunities for interactivity (Sessoms, 2008).
What is the Existing Need?

How Organizational Change Is The Transformation And...
Examining organisational change, we can see that it is the transformation and development within
an organization which includes the structure, work methods, or work culture. It is when people
attain "new behavior" in order to adapt to their environment (Pullen, 1993). This occurs because
there may be some adjustments which leave many businesses no choice but to change; for example,
adjustments in consumer demands, legal factors, economy, and competitors. A major aspect which
triggers change is organisational innovation. According to McWilliams (2013, p.111), innovation is
being able to put into place new creative ideas. To put this into context, we are going to use

This results in an introduction of a dominant design; the most popular choice amongst customers. If
the dominant design becomes a success, it may create a technological lockout, where companies
may find it extremely strenuous to sell their products, or it may result in incremental change.
Incremental change consists of improving the dominant design, and when the organization forms
new ideas (innovate) on how to better improve and manufacture the product.
Technology has a life cycle. Initially, a new technology is introduced and this is a result of
organisational innovation. When the cycle concludes, technology is therefore replaced by a more
up–to–date technology. According to McWilliams (2013, p.111), vast amounts of research were
conducted to propose that many technology cycles are based on the "S–curve patthern of
innovation". It is a model which depicts how new technology replaces old technology. The S–curve
can also be understood by innovation streams. Innovation streams go into further depth about the
different stages the life cycles of technologies. As previously mentioned, it first starts off with
technological discontinuity. Living in the 21st century, technology is constantly advancing at a rapid
rate. With a broad range of skillsets from every industry and through contemporary science, we are
able to produce technology in all kinds of ways as well as to introduce various creative ideas.

The Theory Of Science And Architecture
Architecture can be related to anything such as society or science, society demands the building of
their dream and science made building possible. Science and architect share a mutual goal where
both intended to improve the society life style or in another word, to achieve community utopia.
Science and architect is one of the main elements to promote utopia and this really make the society
to believe that utopia exist. The future will be the combination of science and spirituality, and they
should be together forever. In fact, only when we successfully continue to improve our level of
consciousness and match the level of science and technology, human beings have a future. The
future of humanity is very unpredictable, science may change the world as they see fits such as no
disease, no hunger or no pain. Science can explain many problems, from the taste of the food to
love, because love is the product of science! Nowadays for the environment, sea level rises every
year and many countries started land reclamation to fix the problem such as Japan or Netherland. To
face these problems, the architect has made a lot of conceptual idea to accommodate future human
life. Since then, conceptual–floating foundation design has been under development to adapt the
environmental issue. It uses the principle of buoyancy to support the design and the principle itself
is discovered by the scientist, which architect adapted this principle to the design.

Introduction
In today's society the evolution of smartphones and tablets, and wearable technology has been a
huge leader in the consumer's electronic market (Berkeley University of California). Electronic
textiles, also known as smart garments, smart clothing, smart textiles or smart fabrics refers to
technology embedded into their fabric. Many technologists are using a wide range of sensors to
provide consumers with more information and data about their body and lives than ever before.
Despite the rapid growth of wearable technology in fitness tracker and smartwatch categories other
categories are lacking in growth and sell. So far, smart clothing can be mostly found in certain
markets such as, healthcare, sports or the military. It has not yet made it mainstream in big consumer
markets but as advancements occur smart

Technology And Antiquated Technology
Have technology and science lead to a sustainable and ethical world? Will it in the future? Four
philosophers all have lent their opinion on the subject. Marx believed technology is positive until
touched by capitalism. Heidegger holds true the idea that handicraft or antiquated technology
improved our human experience while modern technology does not. Arendt beliefs science alienates
us from this world. Bostrom believes technology is the light at the end of the tunnel. These
philosophers have spent their life coming to these conclusions and many of the opinions are
mutually exclusive. One should hear from all of them before forming an opinion on technology and
its effect on humankind.
When determining technology's effect on humans, a first step is to analyze the difference between
modern technology and antiquated technology. Marx and Heidegger both can lend their opinion on
this discussion. Marx believed, "The use and fabrication of instruments of labor, although existing in
the germ among certain species of animals, is specifically characteristic of the human labor–
process." () He believed technology has always been a part of the human experience. He cites
discoveries of man using weapons and tools since the beginning on of our existence (). Although he
believes technology had pure beginnings, now that modern technology and capitalism are
intertwined he believes the, "production of too many useful things produces too large a useless
population." () Heidegger, similar to

Innovation has become one of the most important issues in modern culture, these days not only in
the context of business and technology but also in environmental and climate changes. The changes
in the environment impacts economies, populations, governments and cultures at a local level
(Woerd 2002). Woerd (2002) also mentions that changes at a local level contribute to changes at a
national and global level. All organisations worldwide are suffering with the environmental impacts
that are places on them, and need to implement changes that are going to be achievable. The success
of a business depends on how well the process is managed (Linsu Kim & Richard R. Nelson

Making sure there is strong communicating between each other on a regular basis will help to create
business success and help to achieve sustainability. Unfortunately if there is a lack of
communication and awareness within the organisation this could reflect negatively on the business.
Innovation can be one of the most challenging processing in the context of work, however the
creation of new knowledge is the key to success in all businesses and organisations as keeping up
with the trends with only help provide good results (Crowther, D. 2002).
Read on the other hand, refers to technology as the tools that are used to produce the good and
services of an enterprise, which is the hardware of an organisations. The processes are needed to
support and enhance the tools and technologies. There is known to be a common agreement that
technology has had a massive influence on the new age of creativity and imagination within the
business world. The development of technological change in evolving organisations is one of
obtaining and improving on technological capabilities rather than of innovating at frontiers of
knowledge (Guler Aras & David Crowther 2008). Read, also mentions, information can be

of information and communication technology. Sustainable organisations

The Importance Of Social Media And Social Relationships
Recent times have shown an exponential growth in terms of innovation and technology. Because of
this it is vital that we examine the importance of social media in the way we maintain and create
relationships, and how that has affected how happy we are. In this paper I will be arguing that the
use of technology is necessary in order to sufficiently maintain and create better relationships which
increase our overall level of happiness. Relationships are the key to our happiness. According to
psychologist Alt Markman, our relationships help create a sense of belonging which increases our
overall happiness (Markman). Factors such as longing working hours, and global migration have led
to increased social isolation. Social media allows us have to constant connection with others,
helping us build upon and strengthen the relationships we have started, thus solving the problem of
social isolation.
The first reason social media is necessary for us to create sustainable new relationships is the lack of
time people have in today's society. Zeynep Tufekci, a sociology professor at UNC writes that social
isolation has risen not because of social media, but because of "obstacles" such as "... long working–
hours ..." (Tufekci). Moreover, "A Harvard Business School survey of 1,000 professionals found
that 94% worked at least 50 hours a week, and almost half worked more than 65 hours" which is
significantly more than it had been before (The Economist). Technology such as smartphones make

Adam Turner Smart Home Technology
Even though the home of the future will bring many benefits to consumers, owning home appliances
connected to the internet may pose a security risk. In an article by Adam Turner, titled "Smart
technology may make your home a net target", Turner explains the dangers of using smart home
devices. How do these dangers affect smart home technology? To explain the issues, Turner relays
the knowledge of AVG security adviser Michael McKinnon. Mckinnon claims that people use most
of these devices to access files remotely, giving hackers the opportunity to breach them. After a
hacker gains access to a home's internal network, they can then collect passwords and financial
information (Turner 1). The essence of Turner's argument is that by using internet–connected smart
home technology, hackers have an easier means of accessing sensitive information.
However, as home technology advances, security measures are advancing as well. Michael
Passingham's article titled "The Norton Core is a crazy–looking, ultra–secure router" presents a new
line of defense against home hackers. Passingham states:
Symantec says the Core will be constantly updated with a huge database of smart home devices and
will automatically quarantine any device that's running firmware known to be a security risk. You'll

I am in post–op care watching my dad in a five–star Metro hotel–hospital. The unfolding of events
is crystal clear in my mind: Our life turned upside down, what seemed to be a simple regular

the help of ultra–modern technology, the malignancy was diagnosed and he was operated. Now, he
has developed low grade fever and no one knows the causal reason. After my annoying persistence,
the highly competent specialist agreed to perform a culture and Lo and Behold: My dad had multi–

compulsive nature, I started my own little investigation. I went to the lab and hematology
department and to my surprise found out there were a significant number of such cases being
registered but NOT reported. On top of this, my dad has been prescribed antibiotics (I.V.) like saline

How Information Technology And Systems Can Create A...
In this short report I will be discussing ways in which information technology and information
systems have been used to enhance the business of logistics. I will be looking into detail on how
information technology and systems can create a sustainable advantage for a business. The three
main areas I will be looking at are forecasting demand, warehouse management and distribution.
What is logistics?
Logistics and supply chain management is the process of making sure materials are collected, tuned
into products and then distributed so that they can reach the user. Logistics is the full process of the
gap between the materials being raw and collected to the delivery of the finished product in the
users hands. "As such logistics includes; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sortation centres are perfect for online orders as they are tailored to finding particular deliveries for
particular customers, for example if a customer was to take an order from ASOS this would be
sorted in the warehouse and then shipped out to the desired delivery area (Gray , Karmarkar, et al
1992). A bonus of this is that it's a quick and easy process and also results in a lot of available jobs,
as both sorting are distribution take place in the same centre. Over the last few years' warehouses
have changed drastically, going from a large places that houses unused stock to an organised factory
that works to meet customer demand. Also these days warehouses will be responsible for returns,
this will often include repairs which will in turn be sent back to the consumer. (Gray, Karmarkar, et
al 1992). When a warehouse has too much stock that is unwanted it can result in an online sale, this
will then in turn be shipped out leaving room for new stock. Goods that are returned are often sold
on to make sure that profit margins are kept up, companies try to get the best possible price for the
value of the product. The production costs and demand patterns are easily combated now due to
technological advances (Dicken, 2011) Due to advances in technology a lot of time has been saved

The Great Acceleration By Robert Colvile
Thanks to our obsession with technology everything is speeding up. However, we are not going in
the right direction. It feels like our lives have turned into a race. There never seems to be enough
time no matter how fast we go. As a result, speeding up is closer to terror than phenomenon. First of
all, we should think about our ordinary day. At the moment we wake up our race starts. For
example, we hop out of the bed and quickly prepare for work. Then we leave our house without the
breakfast. Reaching work, we sprint into the building, sometimes leaping up two stairs at a time. At
the moment we reach our desk we take a couple of deep breaths. Then we remember that the project

Should We Pull The Plug
Should We Pull The Plug? Throughout life, individuals are faced with tasks and obstacles that must
be overcome. These tasks might be quick and easy and some might be hard and take time to
complete. As we have progressively moved into the future, individuals have come up with useful
innovations that have helped our lives tremendously. Innovations such as technology have allowed
us to access tools that we never could before. Nowadays, we are able to access a vast variety of
information and knowledge with just a few clicks of a button. Technology has also improved our
lives and it has made tasks and obstacles faster and easier to complete. It not only allows us to
access a vast variety of information, it also provides opportunities and it enables us to strengthen
relationships by keeping contact with old friends. This amazing innovation has also allowed us to
move away from old school textbooks and slower forms of communication into a prosperous future
full of opportunities and achievements. However, as technology has become such a huge part of our
lives, we have learned to rely on it for too many things. Whether it's using it for navigation, looking

The purpose of the report is create awareness and understanding of the Reduction of carbon content
and recycling of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) components and to highlight
the opportunities for timely action by researchers and practitioners in this field. Through examples
from a diversity of literature sources this paper defines the problems and the scope of ICT
environmental sustainability.
In order to save the organization a protocol must be used to provide a framework that estimate the
carbon content. The organization must prefer to outsource some of the equipment which produces
more carbon. Otherwise different infrastructure can be built to dump the out dated products. The
equipment can be reuse or sold at the lower rate instead of dumping. The advanced and best quality
of equipment's is used so that they work properly for long span of time.

Sustainable Development : Developing New Technologies
Sustainable Development At the rate humans are living now, the wasteful ways that we live with.
This is not sustainable. As we develop as a human species and as we develop new technologies, as
we have been doing for the past hundreds of years, we not come to a point we are starting to see the
negative effect that our unsustainable ways are effecting our ecosystem, of economic market, and
our future population. Now there is a push to start producing product and creating energy in more
"green" and sustainable way. As humans have developed in the 20th and the 21 century, it has

Fossil fuels are created from the natural plants and animals decomposed millions of years ago deep
into the ground. But because of the length of time it takes to create fossil fuels naturally, it is a non
renewable resource. As we use this fuel to drive our car, we also use these fossil fuels to heat our
homes and even being used to make our plastics items. We cannot live without these fossil fuels, but
at the rate we use it today, we do not have much of a choice. "The most obvious environmental
impact from the oil and gas industry is the burning of oil, which releases several smog– causing
pollutants and greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming." Subsequently, the process used
to drill the oil and gas from the ground is hazardous to the ecosystem as oil spills are common and
happen far too frequently. An example of the an oil spill harming our ecosystem is back in April of
2010 when a BP oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico exploded and sank leaving the well surging with oil

The Importance Of Technology
Technology is the basis for the success of society. Even during the Neolithic Period, agriculture was
a breakthrough that changed the world. The problem with certain scientific advances is that they
tend to interfere with nature. This issue is becoming even more imminent, with today's technology
improving at an unprecedented rate. Nature is far too powerful and unpredictable to be controlled by
technology. Attempting to assert this control will only speed up the inevitable destruction of the
planet that stems from man's unrestrained reliance on technology. Humans must instead use
technology to eventually leave Earth and start creating sustainable colonies within the solar system
and beyond.
By all means, humanity's greatest accomplishment is technology. However, it is also a dangerous,
growing tool that is being abused due to the flawed nature of human beings. Daniel Quinn describes
man's world as a paradise that "has always been spoiled by stupidity, greed, destructiveness, and
shortsightedness" (###). Technology itself is not what will cause the downfall of the planet; it is
mankind's inherent selfishness and abuse of said technology that will. This is visible in governments
and corporations that value money more than the environment. Burning fossil fuels, clearing forests
to build highways, and pouring waste into the oceans are examples of how people exploit the
potential of technology to satisfy their selfish needs. Technology in the hands of human beings acts
as a catalyst for the destruction of the planet.
Furthermore, technology distances people from the natural world. "It's the idea that people living
close to nature tend to be noble... You can't watch a sunset and then go off and set fire to your
neighbor's tepee. Living close to nature is wonderful for your mental health" (Quinn ###). There is a
misconception that technology allows people to separate themselves from nature. In reality, humans
have and always will be a part of nature; technology just gives a false illusion of detachment. Being
tricked into believing this separation brings out the malicious qualities in people that are the root of
the problem.
It is important to understand that nature is a self–evolving force. It acts independently

Also how population growth eventually outstrips our resources such as land, water, energy
production, and food production. According to the video, the number of population could reach nine
billion by 2050. This overwhelming population growth could be very problematic and most likely
could be the cause for the end of humanity. Yet, their solution to these problems was technological
innovation. I agree technological innovation could reduce many problems such as food shortage and
energy shortage. However, there are other problems like water scarcity and climate change, and
political instability, which are impossible to prevent by innovating new technology. So, I think the
producers should have come up with other solutions such as finding acceptable means of reducing
the population growth rate.
Additionally, many innovations such as green sense farm are practical only in the developed world,
especially the United States. Other undeveloped countries cannot afford most technologies that are
mentioned in the film. In fact, undeveloped countries were barely touched on the film. I felt this was
particularly a problem in the presentation of the challenge of feeding the world's skyrocketing
population growth. I believe there is tremendous potential in undeveloped countries in particular to
increase food production through agricultural development.

The Negative Effects Of Technology
The use of technology varies amongst different age groups, often used for productive means, but
there is also a negative side of technology usage. With the advancement of technology, technology
is considered as survival tools for humans. These generally make life easier and helps humans be
extra productive. Moreover, Adults harness the power of technology to solve complex problems.
Usually, this can only be done with the aid of a computer. Another arena of technology use is for
school, both, parents and teachers believe technology helps enhance learning. Although technology
is meant to be useful in different scenarios, it does not always mean it is healthy. For example, as
suggested in a study – "Students who use less technology, score higher on reading exam versus
those who use technology above the average" (Bremmer, 2016). Society has evolved to misuse
technology in many unhealthy ways; these 'negative uses' have many ramifications for individuals.
With the advancement of technology, communication is far more convenient for today's society,
especially with long–distance relationships. People with family, friends, and loved ones who are
miles away now can video chat easily through apps, on their devices, such as FaceTime or Skype.
For example, when parents cannot make it to their kid's soccer game because they are on the other
side of the world, FaceTiming or Skyping are great solutions. Or if a flight is canceled or missed for
a business trip, the company has the opinion

Surviving Progress Roy And Crooks
What is progress? Progress is moving forward without fixing the issues that exist in society today.
Some issues relate to technological advancement and global economic growth. In the documentary
"Surviving Progress" (Roy & Crooks, 2011), the ideological thinking of progress makes one ignore
the current and more serious issues, for instance, poverty and the lack of natural resources. Humans
focus more on the innovation of things since they believe new is better. Most importantly, they
waste away resources and do not give to those who need it most. with the advancement of
technologies and the consumption of wealth, people are tricked into buying things that are only
sustainable now but not in the future, this is called a "progress trap", (Louis et al., 2011, 01:38:00).
Humans need to understand the limits of materials, which are overconsumed and how new is not
necessarily tied to something being greater. Humans have the capability and the mental state to ask
questions, only those who understand the economic imbalance in society would question for
instance, why do humans live in a society that parades itself with wanting new and better

Innovation changes influence practically all aspect of our lives. Because of the advances in correspondence and computer science, about anything you can envision is just few clicks away. technological developments are extending at a quicker rate than people can figure out how to learn and adjust new aptitudes, which animates the obliteration of occupations in low skilled divisions. Innovation Changing so quickly for organizations and the capacity to receive new advance technology is turning into an indispensable system. This is absolutely valid in realm of worldwide business. Technology has been used mostly in every company to accomplish most of their tasks. Because of the technology it has changed the way we work, and how things have been seen differently in the work environment. The technology helps to reduce human errors which can be caused by too much work load. For example, due to advance technology business can be done globally and it's convenient for the companies to communicate through video calling or sending emails. Economic conditions affect all organizations, however independent companies regularly feel the impact of financial changes quicker than their bigger partners. Rises in the economy commonly give a surge of new or extended business open doors for small organization, while a descending economic cycle can have a serious and enduring effect. In a strong economy, almost all organizations appreciate more significant prosperity. For example, now this day most of the car parts are made by robots, which takes away human job even in strong and low economy. Because of strong economy income is high, and unemployment is low. In my opinion, small businesses of technology have an advantage over large businesses. Small business. Because small business would not take much risk to invest their money into modern technology ... • 2. Dynamic Capability Concept Of Strategic Management Many organizations are adopting the dynamic capability concept especially in the management department in the aspect of strategic management. Teece, Pisano and shuen., (1997) defines this concept as the ability of an organization to build, reconfigure and integrate external and internal competencies in order to manage the rapidly changing environment. This concept is an extension of the Resource Base View in the context of its ability to adapt to change in technology. The ability of an organization to attain competitive advantage in the market is subject to innovation. Dynamic capability is unique because of competitive market position and path dependency. The Concept of Dynamic Capability Business organizations are composed of intangible and tangible assets. It is more challenging to manage the intangible assets. However, intangible assets are the main makers of sustainable value creation. Competitive advantage results from valuable skills, processes and capacities which are not easily duplicated by competitors. Dynamic capabilities enable an organization to innovate new developments. However, dynamic capabilities are easily not transferable. Resources form an organization's foundation hence forms a basis for an organization's capabilities (Teece, Pisano & Shuen, 1997). Resources are regarded as facilitators of competitive advantage. In environments of dynamic market however, the resources do not last for a long time and in that case, they cannot lead into competitive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Advantages Of Competitive Advantage Competitive advantage and sustainable competitive advantage All men can see these tactics whereby I conquer, but what none can see is the strategy out of which victory is evolved. By Sun Tzu Tactics may represent a brief competitive advantage. Strategy might signify a constant competitive benefit. An organization must implement a set of competitive advantages which can maintained and required for the customer, fulfilling their requirements with the goal that they will pay for the value to contend adequately in the worldwide condition. Value chain analysis is a capable instrument for the organization to distinguish its important actions as having the capacity to finish competitive need and make predominant routines. The value chain has been utilized as an intense tool for management as it comprises of the various activity the company uses to produce value and its profit. (Edwards, 2002) Value Chain The idea of the value chain is based on the process view of JULIA JUICE, the idea of seeing a JJ organization as a system, made up of subsystems each with inputs, (mindtools, 2017) Conversion procedures and productivities. Inputs, conversion procedures, and productivities include the procurement and utilization of assets – cash, work, materials, hardware, structures, land, organization and administration. How value chain exercises are executed, decide expenditures and generate benefits. Regarding Porter (1985), the required things to do are: 1. Incoming Logistics – ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Satire On Technology Tech Wreck Every day technology is getting bigger and better. But do we really know what effects technology is having on us, the human race? For starters many people complain technology is making us lazier, antisocial beings. Others argue there are devastating effects on the planet. Some might even go as far to say that technology may be the death of mankind. There is also the chance that once the human race is wiped out, technology will continue to live on without us. Then it all comes down to the final question, do we really need to keep improving technology? Let's take a closer look. Technology makes humans lazier and antisocial. With everyone on their phones all the time, it's rare to have a face to face conversation, and 'social' media certainly doesn't help here. These apps allow people to think they have a great social life when in reality they're sitting at home on the couch. A staggering 71% of teenagers admit to using facebook (Fig 1). These addictive apps are making us antisocial and extremely lazy too. A lot of people don't go out and exercise as often as they should, or even at all for that matter. This leads to a rise in obesity as well as sleep deprivation and stress. In the past 25 years obesity rates in children has almost tripled, and I think you know why. Clearly technology is not making us better people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Karl Marx And Martin Heidegger: The Role Of Technology We live in a day and age where technology is constantly developing. The role of technology in our lives is a question that has been asked for many years. For example, the invention of the telescope was considered to be the beginning of an alienated society. This invention "finally forced nature, or rather, the universe, to reveal its secrets" (Arendt 394). This new revelation resulted in techno optimism and pessimism. Techno optimism is the belief that technology can make the world better off, while techno pessimists believe that technology is the reason why there is a broken relationship between the balance of society and nature ("Techno–Optimism" 452). Philosophers Karl Marx and Nick Bostrom question the role of technology through a techno optimist viewpoint, while Hannah Arendt and Martin Heidegger are techno pessimists. In a world that is increasingly dependent on technology, I believe that although technology is efficient, there is a fine line as to when it starts to disrupt our humanity. Both Karl Marx and Martin Heidegger have distinct beliefs on the role that technology plays in our lives. Heidegger makes a clear distinction in handicraft versus emerging technologies. Handicraft technologies are acceptable in that they bring us closer to the land and accentuate the human experience. For example, a windmill "does not unlock energy from the air currents in order to store it"(Heidegger 309). Rather, the windmill is just dependent on the wind and does not utilize the ... To come from a patriarchal sovereignty to the Americas was no happenstance or wild coincidence. The founding of America illuminated the ingenuity in which we champion on a day to day basis. The ability to think freely and develop our own ideas, values and beliefs is a human right that should be protected. Inalienable Rights are those that cannot be taken away; yet, there are constraints on safety that protects against discrimination and theft of property which includes that of intellectual property as well. One student stated, "We did this to show us how to work as a team." Another student stated, "You had us do this task to show us that we can find value within the most trivial things like a rubber band or a plastic bag." The latter statement was awe–inspiring as someone understood my objective–to get the students to challenge cultural hegemony, together. It is fascinating watching these students converse amongst themselves as an educator because I am afforded the opportunity to see just how different policies are made in a practical sense as there were three types of students during this interaction: the students that bounced ideas off everyone, students that agreed with everything that was said regardless of how they felt and the students that did not say anything at all. Information and Communication Technology comprehends technologies that can process different kinds of information i.e. voice, video, text, data and facilitates different forms of communications among humans and among information systems. The telecommunication infrastructure plays an important role to boost the development of a country in this information society. The advent of ICT brings all the citizen of this planet close together and has a quicker access to all the information and benefits that the world may have. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) encompasses the broad fields of information and communications by means of computer and telecommunication tools are being increasingly used for organizational/personal information processing in all sectors of economy and the society as a whole. The term ICT covers a whole range of applications, techniques and systems (Clarke, 2006). Lallana and Margaret (2003) clearly opine that ICT "refers to a broad field encompassing computers, communications equipment and the services associated with them." ICT is not just considered as applications and systems but also as skill for life. Human Alienation and Computational Ecopoetics Essay Computational Ecopoetics project is centred on human alienation from nature as an underlying contemporary cultural framework and uses the capacity of the poetic bringing–forth to restore us to the earth and land as our home. Restoring us to the earth is the project of ecopoetics as phenomenological rather than political frame that constitutes the most direct return to the place of dwelling. The question is in what respects a poetic computation may be a making (poiesis) of the dwelling place (eco– Greek oikos, the home or place of dwelling). The technological fix to environmental problems leads to sustainability that frames earth as a recyclable, renewable, and, ultimately, replaceable resource. Fixing the problem in the sense of conserving, regenerating, and nourishing the resource base of capitalism. It is no longer an issue of how to convince people to accept and promote sustainability, but of whether we can and how to overcome the alienation and reification from nature that had emerged with capitalism, industrialization, and urbanization? It is critical to consider whether we can ever approach Nature in an non–ideological way or are all attempts to capture Nature, theoretically, poetically or narratively, nothing more than our own appropriation of it? techné (art/artifice) is opposed to physis (nature), most fundamentally in terms of causality. The opposition between physis and techné has generated the traditional divisions we have in Western philosophy among nature and culture. In Heidegger's text, Being and Time, the concept of being in–the–world places primary emphasis on equipment rather than physiology. The understanding of world as a network of interdependent relations at a variety of levels, conceptualized in human terms, limits our ability to comprehend natural earthliness. The Scenarios Of Consumer 's Futures 2020 By 2020, the world could develop into a myriad of different scenarios, but there is no one scenario that can accurately represent what the US, let alone the world, will become–even in four short years. The four scenarios in "Consumer's Futures 2020" has options that could unfold, but it is unlikely in such a short timeframe. Nevertheless, the most likely of the four–presented scenarios to me is 'sell it to me.' This is because the scenario allows people to keep spending and minimizes the work individuals have to put into becoming more sustainable. It also marks a more prosperous, flourishing economy that enables the option to buy more selectively the brands and products that intrigue them. Lastly, this scenario utilizes the technology that we are already hyper reliant on to generate more personalized business. Many of these aspects are already occurring to some degree, but I can see them becoming more prominent over time. The market is currently well on the mend, with unemployment rates decreasing and overall incomes increasing; I disagree with the scenario as, contrary to scenario 3, awareness of income inequality is more mainstream and being combated. With this increasing upward mobility, consumers want to buy more and more, as many US citizens mark their prosperity on how much you can buy. Already emerging is the demand for organic foods to be sold in conventional grocery stores. People also spend a little extra to buy brands that give them the perception of wealth–like ... • 18. Impact Of The Industrial Revolution On The World Essay Since the first time an image was transported to a laptop screen or a handheld device was used to communicate to people in other countries, the world has been a system of calls, emails, texts, and networks that are all categorized under the term technology. We started off with technology that helped us forage for food or manage our livestock. However, tech today is a basis of telecommunications and the use of different mechanical mechanisms that are seemingly robotic. How far we have come from the beginning of the first civilizations to what we are able to do now illustrates the impact of the industrial revolution and, some may say, tech revolution. We are still booming and at every corner that is turned new advancements are introduced into society that was not thought about before. It seems that we should be all "tech" savvy and a life without technology would be a little unnerving to say the least. Others say that this dependence makes "robots" or us less human. Throughout the research conducted on technology, there were news articles assumingly concluding that we are "humans merging with technology and turning into robots" and another similarly arguing that we need to "become cyborgs or risk humans being turned into robots." These may not be scholarly articles but are interesting to see and notice the perspective that people believe to be true. The extremely absurd notion that we are so heavily dependent on technology that we will turn into robots may actually be true. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. An Educator's Need for Continual Professional Development In order for an institution, educational or otherwise, to remain competitive, its leadership must strategically plan for the future. Awareness of trends in the marketplace, competition for market share, and consumer expectations and demands must all be considered. In addition, a critical component of strategic planning must include opportunities for employees to participate in continual professional development that is timely, meaningful and sustainable. For educators, whether in corporate, K–12, or higher education settings, the need for continual professional development is essential. Why is there a need for a Professional Development Course for Online Instructors? Today's consumer demands and expects a certain level of technology to be available to them at all times. Phrases like "21st Century Skills" (Grunwald Associates, 2010) and "Web 2.0" are becoming commonplace to the layperson and considered to be expected competencies by hiring managers. Online education has shown steady growth over the last several years and this rate of growth is projected to continue or increase over the next several years. Instructors or "facilitators" in the online setting are faced with challenges and opportunities unique from those faced by instructors who teach in a face–to–face setting. Without proper training instructors may not use technology effectively and risk losing opportunities for interactivity (Sessoms, 2008). What is the Existing Need? As consumers become more ... • 21. How Organizational Change Is The Transformation And... Examining organisational change, we can see that it is the transformation and development within an organization which includes the structure, work methods, or work culture. It is when people attain "new behavior" in order to adapt to their environment (Pullen, 1993). This occurs because there may be some adjustments which leave many businesses no choice but to change; for example, adjustments in consumer demands, legal factors, economy, and competitors. A major aspect which triggers change is organisational innovation. According to McWilliams (2013, p.111), innovation is being able to put into place new creative ideas. If the dominant design becomes a success, it may create a technological lockout, where companies may find it extremely strenuous to sell their products, or it may result in incremental change. Incremental change consists of improving the dominant design, and when the organization forms new ideas (innovate) on how to better improve and manufacture the product. Technology has a life cycle. Initially, a new technology is introduced and this is a result of organisational innovation. When the cycle concludes, technology is therefore replaced by a more up–to–date technology. According to McWilliams (2013, p.111), vast amounts of research were conducted to propose that many technology cycles are based on the "S–curve patthern of innovation". It is a model which depicts how new technology replaces old technology. The S–curve can also be understood by innovation streams. Innovation streams go into further depth about the different stages the life cycles of technologies. As previously mentioned, it first starts off with technological discontinuity. Science and architect share a mutual goal where both intended to improve the society life style or in another word, to achieve community utopia. Science and architect is one of the main elements to promote utopia and this really make the society to believe that utopia exist. The future will be the combination of science and spirituality, and they should be together forever. In fact, only when we successfully continue to improve our level of consciousness and match the level of science and technology, human beings have a future. The future of humanity is very unpredictable, science may change the world as they see fits such as no disease, no hunger or no pain. Science can explain many problems, from the taste of the food to love, because love is the product of science! Nowadays for the environment, sea level rises every year and many countries started land reclamation to fix the problem such as Japan or Netherland. To face these problems, the architect has made a lot of conceptual idea to accommodate future human life. Bostrom believes technology is the light at the end of the tunnel. These philosophers have spent their life coming to these conclusions and many of the opinions are mutually exclusive. One should hear from all of them before forming an opinion on technology and its effect on humankind. When determining technology's effect on humans, a first step is to analyze the difference between modern technology and antiquated technology. Marx and Heidegger both can lend their opinion on this discussion. Marx believed, "The use and fabrication of instruments of labor, although existing in the germ among certain species of animals, is specifically characteristic of the human labor– process." () He believed technology has always been a part of the human experience. He cites discoveries of man using weapons and tools since the beginning on of our existence (). • 27. The Importance Of Social Media And Social Relationships Recent times have shown an exponential growth in terms of innovation and technology. Because of this it is vital that we examine the importance of social media in the way we maintain and create relationships, and how that has affected how happy we are. In this paper I will be arguing that the use of technology is necessary in order to sufficiently maintain and create better relationships which increase our overall level of happiness. Relationships are the key to our happiness. According to psychologist Alt Markman, our relationships help create a sense of belonging which increases our overall happiness (Markman). Factors such as longing working hours, and global migration have led to increased social isolation. Social media allows us have to constant connection with others, helping us build upon and strengthen the relationships we have started, thus solving the problem of social isolation. The first reason social media is necessary for us to create sustainable new relationships is the lack of time people have in today's society. Zeynep Tufekci, a sociology professor at UNC writes that social isolation has risen not because of social media, but because of "obstacles" such as "... long working– hours ..." (Tufekci). Moreover, "A Harvard Business School survey of 1,000 professionals found that 94% worked at least 50 hours a week, and almost half worked more than 65 hours" which is significantly more than it had been before (The Economist). In an article by Adam Turner, titled "Smart technology may make your home a net target", Turner explains the dangers of using smart home devices. How do these dangers affect smart home technology? To explain the issues, Turner relays the knowledge of AVG security adviser Michael McKinnon. Mckinnon claims that people use most of these devices to access files remotely, giving hackers the opportunity to breach them. After a hacker gains access to a home's internal network, they can then collect passwords and financial information (Turner 1). The essence of Turner's argument is that by using internet–connected smart home technology, hackers have an easier means of accessing sensitive information. However, as home technology advances, security measures are advancing as well. Michael Passingham's article titled "The Norton Core is a crazy–looking, ultra–secure router" presents a new line of defense against home hackers. In this short report I will be discussing ways in which information technology and information systems have been used to enhance the business of logistics. I will be looking into detail on how information technology and systems can create a sustainable advantage for a business. The three main areas I will be looking at are forecasting demand, warehouse management and distribution. What is logistics? Logistics and supply chain management is the process of making sure materials are collected, tuned into products and then distributed so that they can reach the user. Logistics is the full process of the gap between the materials being raw and collected to the delivery of the finished product in the users hands. "As such logistics includes; ... Sortation centres are perfect for online orders as they are tailored to finding particular deliveries for particular customers, for example if a customer was to take an order from ASOS this would be sorted in the warehouse and then shipped out to the desired delivery area (Gray , Karmarkar, et al 1992). A bonus of this is that it's a quick and easy process and also results in a lot of available jobs, as both sorting are distribution take place in the same centre. Over the last few years' warehouses have changed drastically, going from a large places that houses unused stock to an organised factory that works to meet customer demand. Also these days warehouses will be responsible for returns, this will often include repairs which will in turn be sent back to the consumer. (Gray, Karmarkar, et al 1992). When a warehouse has too much stock that is unwanted it can result in an online sale, this will then in turn be shipped out leaving room for new stock. Goods that are returned are often sold on to make sure that profit margins are kept up, companies try to get the best possible price for the value of the product. • 37. The Importance Of Technology Technology is the basis for the success of society. Even during the Neolithic Period, agriculture was a breakthrough that changed the world. The problem with certain scientific advances is that they tend to interfere with nature. This issue is becoming even more imminent, with today's technology improving at an unprecedented rate. Nature is far too powerful and unpredictable to be controlled by technology. Attempting to assert this control will only speed up the inevitable destruction of the planet that stems from man's unrestrained reliance on technology. Humans must instead use technology to eventually leave Earth and start creating sustainable colonies within the solar system and beyond. By all means, humanity's greatest accomplishment is technology. However, it is also a dangerous, growing tool that is being abused due to the flawed nature of human beings. Daniel Quinn describes man's world as a paradise that "has always been spoiled by stupidity, greed, destructiveness, and shortsightedness" (###). Technology itself is not what will cause the downfall of the planet; it is mankind's inherent selfishness and abuse of said technology that will. This is visible in governments and corporations that value money more than the environment. Burning fossil fuels, clearing forests to build highways, and pouring waste into the oceans are examples of how people exploit the potential of technology to satisfy their selfish needs. Technology in the hands of human beings acts as a catalyst for the destruction of the planet. Furthermore, technology distances people from the natural world. "It's the idea that people living close to nature tend to be noble... You can't watch a sunset and then go off and set fire to your neighbor's tepee. Living close to nature is wonderful for your mental health" (Quinn ###). There is a misconception that technology allows people to separate themselves from nature. In reality, humans have and always will be a part of nature; technology just gives a false illusion of detachment. Being tricked into believing this separation brings out the malicious qualities in people that are the root of the problem. It is important to understand that nature is a self–evolving force. I think the producers of "Humanity from Space" video, made many good points about the negative and the positive effects of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also how population growth eventually outstrips our resources such as land, water, energy production, and food production. According to the video, the number of population could reach nine billion by 2050. This overwhelming population growth could be very problematic and most likely could be the cause for the end of humanity. Yet, their solution to these problems was technological innovation. I agree technological innovation could reduce many problems such as food shortage and energy shortage. However, there are other problems like water scarcity and climate change, and political instability, which are impossible to prevent by innovating new technology. So, I think the producers should have come up with other solutions such as finding acceptable means of reducing the population growth rate. Additionally, many innovations such as green sense farm are practical only in the developed world, especially the United States. Other undeveloped countries cannot afford most technologies that are mentioned in the film. In fact, undeveloped countries were barely touched on the film. I felt this was particularly a problem in the presentation of the challenge of feeding the world's skyrocketing population growth. I believe there is tremendous potential in undeveloped countries in particular to increase food production through agricultural development. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Negative Effects Of Technology The use of technology varies amongst different age groups, often used for productive means, but there is also a negative side of technology usage. With the advancement of technology, technology is considered as survival tools for humans. These generally make life easier and helps humans be extra productive. Moreover, Adults harness the power of technology to solve complex problems. Usually, this can only be done with the aid of a computer. Another arena of technology use is for school, both, parents and teachers believe technology helps enhance learning. Although technology is meant to be useful in different scenarios, it does not always mean it is healthy. For example, as suggested in a study – "Students who use less technology, score higher on reading exam versus those who use technology above the average" (Bremmer, 2016). Society has evolved to misuse technology in many unhealthy ways; these 'negative uses' have many ramifications for individuals. With the advancement of technology, communication is far more convenient for today's society, especially with long–distance relationships. People with family, friends, and loved ones who are miles away now can video chat easily through apps, on their devices, such as FaceTime or Skype. For example, when parents cannot make it to their kid's soccer game because they are on the other side of the world, FaceTiming or Skyping are great solutions. Or if a flight is canceled or missed for a business trip, the company has the opinion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Surviving Progress Roy And Crooks What is progress? Progress is moving forward without fixing the issues that exist in society today. Some issues relate to technological advancement and global economic growth. In the documentary "Surviving Progress" (Roy & Crooks, 2011), the ideological thinking of progress makes one ignore the current and more serious issues, for instance, poverty and the lack of natural resources. Humans focus more on the innovation of things since they believe new is better. Most importantly, they waste away resources and do not give to those who need it most. with the advancement of technologies and the consumption of wealth, people are tricked into buying things that are only sustainable now but not in the future, this is called a "progress trap", (Louis et al., 2011, 01:38:00). Humans need to understand the limits of materials, which are overconsumed and how new is not necessarily tied to something being greater. Humans have the capability and the mental state to ask questions, only those who understand the economic imbalance in society would question for instance, why do humans live in a society that parades itself with wanting new and better technology? Humans develop new medicines, new technologies, and pay a ... In addition, when thinking of the future, humans think only of growing, creating better technology, and a better way of life. Humans have lost sight to what is important in society and focus more on what can be, than what actually is. According to Horkheimer (1993), "the collapse of a large part of the intellectual foundation of our civilization is to a certain extent the result of technical and scientific progress" (p. 79). This progress explained by Horkheimer suggests that because civilization has grown to the extent of relying on technology and science, others do not see the value of ...
