ash are pollutants, which cause problems in nature. When too much ash gets in the atmosphere, it
can cause smog, which in excess can limit visibility. The carbon dioxide that is produced is harmful
to humans and other animals but the main problem with carbon dioxide is it increases what is known
as greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases block the sun's light from escaping the planet. Without the
escaping light, the temperature of the Earth increases. With the temperature increase, weather

Converting these resources into usable energy requires money. Money is required to obtain them, to
ship them, and to convert them. This conversion costs money to build the equipment for converting

cost a substantial amount of money to make or in some cases ship in. As one can see, non–
renewable energy resources are expensive.
It is expensive to maintain the equipment, so that it operates at peak efficiency. The same goes for
cleaning the equipment. When the equipment gets too dirty parts go bad more rapidly so cleaning it

Wind turbines:
A wind turbine turns wind into energy. As wind blows towards the blades of the turbine, the rotors
spin around, capturing kinetic energy from the wind. The rotor blades are able to rotate around the
hub (located at the front, middle of the turbine) allowing them to meet the wind at the best possible
angle. Inside the nacelle (the main body of the turbine), the gearbox is able to convert the low–speed
turning of the drive shaft into high–speed rotations that are fast enough to drive the generator
proficiently. The generator then takes the kinetic energy from the spinning shaft and turns it into the
electrical energy. With the help of anemometers that provide the measurements of wind direction
and speed, the rotors and nacelle can be rotated by a yaw motor allowing the blades to face directly
towards the oncoming wind, capturing the maximum amount of energy possible. The electrical
current produced by the generator then flows through a cable running through the centre of the
turbine tower. From there, a step–up transformer converts the electrical energy to a voltage about 50
times higher. The energy can then be transmitted efficiently to buildings and homes nearby or to the
power grid.

fossil fuel releases CO2 that has been locked up for millions of years in the ground, affecting the
natural CO2 cycle and resulting in an increase in the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. Burning
biomass simply return to the atmosphere the same amount of CO2 which was absorbed from the air
via the photosynthesis process while the biomass plant was growing over a relatively short period of

the biggest issues is our energy and power resources. Green energy is renewable energy that is

Everyone uses a lot of power for lighting, heating, machines, movements, and so much more. All of
that energy has to come from an energy supply. Some energy resources are renewable, while others
are non–renewable. Energy has various forms and is a very essential part of our everyday lives. In
my house, I always try to conserve energy when I can. I try an hot water by using a lower flow
shower head and very rarely use the bath tub which does waste a lot of hot water. When buying light
bulbs, I only buy LED light bulbs for the lights in my house. I keep the thermostat below 75 degrees
when it is cold out even if that means needing to use extra blankets. There are many other things that
I can do to conserve energy. Some of these things would be to turn off any electrical devices when I
am not using them and upgrading some appliances that may be out of date, as the newer ones are
usually more energy efficient. It is fascinating to imagine how much energy I do use in one day. I
have to charge my cell phone everyday, as it also acts as my alarm clock. My furnace keeps the

problems with pollution in our water sources, soil, and air particles. Renewable energy is defined as

There are many different renewable resources, which include solar power, wind, geothermal energy,
tidal power, and more. The number one renewable resource that has stood out is geothermal energy.
This energy deals with heat and it is being stored naturally from earth itself. This renewable resource
has many advantages and as with everything there also comes disadvantages. It will be shown that
the advantages of this renewable resource benefits earth rather then its disadvantages. Geothermal
energy is a renewable resource whose heat generates energy to be used. Heat and energy go one in
one with each other. Energy is the capability to do something. Energy comes in many different
forms such as mechanical, chemical, nuclear, light, and more. Energy most importantly comes in the
form of having heat energy. This energy is created because energy goes through many different
phases to get its final reason to be used. An example of this is flashlights or lightening in homes.

This report extensively analyses the production and breakdown of Ethanols, to assess its properties
and their relation to being a fuel. The use of Ethanol as reliable source of renewable energy and its
current effects on society. The potential use of ethanol as an alternative to coal and fossil fuels, the

Humans have always exploited their natural environment for all their needs including food, clothing
and shelter. As the cultural development of humans continued, they looked for a greater variety of
materials to cater for their needs. The 20th century saw an explosion in both the use of traditional
materials and in the research and development of a wider range of materials to satisfy technological
requirements. Developments added to this was a reduction in availability of the traditional resources

renewable energy situation in Cambodia. Renewable energy technologies (RETs) will be the most
appropriate way in meeting the energy demand in rural and remote areas of developing countries,
especially in off–grid areas. About 85% of the total population lives in the rural areas, the
government of Cambodia is placing great emphasis on the rural electrification, on–grid where
possible, and off–grid by renewable energy, to raise the living standards of the rural population.

Importance of Non–renewable Energy Sources
Before discussing about the disadvantages of non–renewable sources of energy let's look on some
important uses of them. According to Richards (as cited in Fossil Fuels, 2004), fossil fuels are the
most common fuels used from a long time since they were discovered. Everything that involves
transportation is utilizing fossils fuels in some or the other way. Coal, the other most common form
of non–renewable energy source is used to produce electricity. Moreover coal is also used to refine
metals. Natural gas, which is the result of decomposing plants and animals, is mainly used in home
for cooking. Nuclear fuels also come under non–renewable sources but they are cleanest of all of
them. They are used when large amount of energy has to be extracted.
Coal, oil and natural gas, which come under natural resources, took millions of years to form.
Therefore, it is impossible to replace them once we consume them. The main energy sources used
