Designing The Fashion Industry ( Mcalpine 14 )
According to scratchhard.com, the fashion industry generates an average of $20 billion each year. Fashion designers are the heart of the fashion world.
Designing is a form of art that is translated into clothing. Inspiration for the designs comes from trends, art, culture, places, and the media. Fashion
designers create ideas which they turn into clothing to sell. The first step of designing is researching current fashion trends and predicting future trends.
Trends determine the success of the fashion industry (McAlpine 14). Designers choose a speciality to design. Swimwear, bridal wear, children's
clothing, footwear, and men's wear are a few examples of design categories. Sketching the original design is the next important step of ... Show more

Fashion designers can create apparel for numerous people or for a select few. Haute couture designers create clothes specifically for a customer. One
outfit could cost thousands of dollars. Ready–to–wear designs are produced in large numbers but sold at high prices. Mass produced clothing is
constructed in large numbers and sold at reasonable prices. This is where most designers work. Boutique designers work alone or in groups to create
their own designs and find outlets to sell their clothing. In 2012, twenty–five percent of the designers were self–employed. Large apparel companies
usually consist of a team of designers headed by a creative manager. Very few designers work for high fashion brands. High fashion designers earn the
most money and are the most well–known. Many different outlets of design are available as career options (McAlpine 14).
Formal education fro fashion designers is not required, but it is recommended. Preparing to become a fashion designer can start in high school by
taking art, home economics, math, and chemistry (Morkes 324). When an employer is seeking to hire a designer, a person with a fashion degree, an
impressive portfolio, and experience or an internship will be the most likely to receive the job. Many universities offer various degrees pertaining to
fashion. Baylor University in Waco, Texas is one of the top twenty schools for

Calvin Klein
An American Designer
By
Neera Bann
Calvin Richard Klein was born and raised in New York City's borough of the Bronx. He decided he wanted to be a fashion designer at an early age,
most probably as a result of the influence of his grandmother. Leo and Flora Klein were his parents. They both worked in the grocery business.
Flora's mother, Molly Stern was an accomplished seamstress. She operated a notions shop and tailoring business where Calvin spent a lot of time as
a child. (Marsh) Calvin attended P.S 80, a public school that a lot of other famous people attended including Penny and Gary Marshall and Ralph
Lauren. (Marsh) At P.S 80 he excelled in art... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Klein's design philosophy is rooted in minimalism. This is what he is known for. He typically uses neutral colors or earth tones and designs separates
that work in many different ensembles, from day to night and season to season. At the same time his advertising for jeans and fragrances was being
criticized, Calvin Klein clothing was receiving critical acclaim for its clean, modern lines. (Gaines)
Time magazine named Klein one of the twenty–five most influential Americans in 1996. Klein won the prestigious Coty Award three times in a row
(1973–1975), becoming the youngest designer to ever have that honor. In 1982, 1983, and 1986 he also captured the Council of Fashion Designers of
America Award. In addition Klein built a financially strong company with the continued advice and help of partner Barry Schwartz, who guided the
company through tough financial times in the late 1980s. Few designers have rivaled his worldwide empire. (Gaines)
In late 2002, Calvin Klein, Inc. caught the eye of Phillips–Van Heusen Corporation (PVH), a company looking to acquire a major brand. As the largest
shirt maker in the United States, PVH owned the Van Heusen, IZOD, and G.H Bass brands and had licensing agreements with Geoffrey Beene,
Arrow, DKNY, and Kenneth Cole. Under the leadership of CEO Bruce Klatsky, PVH made a play for Calvin Klein and eventually won the battle.
Under the terms of the deal, Klein

Clothing Since The Middle Ages, Renaissance And Industrial...
Clothing is much like communication. As technology progressed and new methods were invented, we went from mailing letters to Morse code,
followed by the telegram, telephone, and eventually electronic mail. Beyond the way one's clothing has historically communicated such things as a
person's personality and social class, clothing styles and production have evolved in a similar fashion to the technology of communication. This
evolution was brought about by many factors including–among others– people's tendency towards convenience, affordability, and fashion. Clearly, the
styles have changed significantly since the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Industrial Revolution. But without these earlier fashions, we would not be
where we are today. These

Fashion And Fashion In India
I.Introduction:
High fashion takes inspiration from various sources, ranging from nature to various art forms. Fashion and architecture share similarities that tie
various culture, society and religion together.
A career in fashion is a long term project in one's life, and although there is extreme competition, the scale of its scope and opportunity never drops.
Is the fashion industry solely dependent on fashion designers?
No, the fashion industry is not only about fashion designers. There's a whole range of other roles in the industry that makes up what we see on the
runways and in malls. The fashion industry in India, just like in any other country is also about fashion photography, pattern making, garment
construction, accessory designing, make–up artists, modelling, fabric weaving, textile research and development, fashion journalism/editorial, and
manufacturing to name a few. Fashion designers are just a small portion of this whole game. They make use of these available resources to introduce
new designs into the market.
Where does India's Fashion industry stand in the world market?
Current size of the Indian fashion industry is worth INR1000 crore, while the market size is approximated to be INR 20,000 crore. However, Indian
fashion accounts for a meagre 0.2% in the world market. But this is expected as Indian fashion has just rolled over from infancy to the growth stage.
How organized is the industry in India?
In reference to the point above, the

I Want To Pursue A Degree In High School
Fashion has always been my outlet. As a soft–spoken southern girl, my style has always been my way to break free and boldly show a part of myself
that was hidden behind my shy demeanor. Giving me a new perspective of the world from a young age fashion encouraged me to try new things and

Unexpectedly, I gained so much knowledge about people what they like don't like, how presentation can directly affect if a potential customer makes a
purchase, as well as how important it is to keep up with customers buying patterns. With that information, I was able to sell an astonishing nine hundred

Descriptive Essay On Fashion Shows
My cousin, Eshna was taking me to a fashion show being held in Kolkata. I've never been to one before. In fact, I had no idea of what exactly it
was that they showed in fashion shows. In dog shows, they showed dogs; in baby shows they showed babies. I knew what dogs were, and what
babies were, so that was all right. But I hadn't a clue what fashion was, and was looking forward to finding out.
All I knew about fashion shows was that they involved people called models. The models walked up and down something called a catwalk. No
one seemed to know why a catwalk should be called a catwalk. Why not a dogwalk, for instance? Well, the answer to that seemed simple. If they
called the catwalk a dogwalk then people might think that what they'd come to see was a dog show, instead of a fashion show and be on the
lookout for a French poodle a la Rohit Bal. On the other hand, no one's ever heard of a cat show, so if you call the catwalk in a fashion show a
catwalk you'd be alright, and no one would expect to see Garfield strutting his stuff courtesy Ritu Beri. Just to further confuse matters, however, the
catwalk is also known as a ramp. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

ramps – and models; all this still didn't tell me what fashion was. And I was all agog to find

When he was 5 years old his mother remarried causing the boy to get to pick a new first name and taking the last name of his new step father, his new

1993 forced Kors line to discontinue for a period of time
An inspiration
Michael Kors has shown me in many ways that hard work and persistence pays off. When you love something as much as Michael Kors loved fashion
you work hard to achieve goals involving it .I will forever look at his life as an inspiration to do what you love and never stop.
Hunt
Harness the vision– Michael Kors had a vision for design since the age of 5 and he never let that vision die, he always knew what he wanted to do.
Underestimate the roadblocks– Michael Kors dealt with dropping out of college and bankruptcy in 1993 but he always made sure to get more money

Descriptive Essay About New York City
Placing as the capital of the world financial markets, theater and surrounding fashion, New York City has plenty to offer young people with high
dreams. Post one's arrival the astonishingly tall buildings will be sure to catch one's eye! Moving into the jungle of vast buildings, the streets filled
with cabs, limos, and cars going in each and every direction you can imagine, leaving behind the aroma of exhaust tracing through the air.
Progressing towards the inner city of New York the smell of different restaurants will soon be introduced to one's nose straightaway. Down on the
corner of each street be ready to approach a street vendor calling out your name! Heaps upon heaps of pedestrians will be flowing down the
sidewalks, reminding one of a stream of diversity. The largest city in the US, New York is an "architectural marvel with plenty of historic monuments,
magnificent buildings, and countless dazzling skyscrapers." As stated by A View on Cities states in their most recent web page for the city of New
York. Put aside the beautiful views of the architectures New York is overflowing with different opportunities to all of the visitors. New York happens to

My Dream Of A Fashion Institute Of Technology
When applying to colleges, everyone has a goal in their mind that they are looking forward to accomplishing. I also have an aim and plan which I
want to execute in the best way possible. The first and most crucial thing that holds immense importance in fulfilling your dream is the college one
chooses to go to. I chose Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) for many reasons, Starting off by mentioning the wide variety of business and
marketing programs they provide. Moreover, the community of the college is known to be one of the best in New York, with a beautiful campus
and especially for me, the commute is a great steal. While applying to colleges, FIT caught my attention the most. This was the only college,
whom I see myself graduating from in four years with my dream of a bachelor degree in marketing. The reason why I chose marketing is that I
have always been a social person who loves talking and most importantly I am an extremely organized person who knows how to perform her tasks
very well. So that is why I see myself working as a marketing manager for big companies like Google and Apple.
While thousands of students will be applying to FIT, the question is "What makes me the perfect candidate for FIT and what makes me stand out?"
Well, unlike most students that mainly only are concerned about their GPA and spend all theirhigh school years in studying, I just did not study but also
took all advantages of my school clubs and community service opportunities. During my

Personal Essay: I Loved In Love In Fashion
If you ask me when it was I fell in love with fashion, I'd say never. I never fell in love with fashion because it's always been a part of myself. I
would spend hours in the changing rooms of big retail stores, trying on every style that caught my eye. I've always enjoyed dressing up because
fashion provided room for endless experimentation and let me voice my individuality. Integrating strategy with taste has always been my strong suit, so
a job in fashion merchandising came naturally to me.
However, as I studied fashion, I realized I was seeing only a portion of the picture. The fashion industry was a crossroads for various social and ethical
dilemmas that desperately needed to be addressed. My favorite fast fashion brands were a serious threat to the environment and the safety of factory
workers in developing countries; the lack of size diversity in the low–end market of Korea was severely limiting options for people with diverse body
types. These realizations made me ask myself: will I be able to work in an industry that conflicts with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I love shopping at thrift stores, and I also love labels that curate a vivid story through their products. However, I could not find a mix of the two–a

easy everyday pieces. In an attempt to bring color to the vintage scene, I opened a vintage e–shop of my own and handpicked a themed collection
inspired by the movie AmГ©lie(2001). My work covered everything from licensing the business and arranging photo shoots to designing and
promoting the website. Although I didn't sell enough to generate profit, I gained a plethora of experience and related skills by experimenting with

As a child, I have always been a visually observatory person. Patterns, textiles, and fashion have always been high interests of mine. My childhood

Application Of Porter 's Five Model On Michael Kors
3. Application of Porter's Five Model on Michael Kors
Four forces that affect Michael Kors
Porter's five model is defined as the framework that evaluate the position of a company in the external environment with focus drawn on the level of
competitiveness (Roy 2011). The framework considers factors such as rivalry, substitute goods, the power of suppliers and buyers as well as new
entrants. Four forces can influence the success of Michael Kors. The first one is competitive rivalry. Here, the struggle is about maintaining
performance despite different tactics used by different companies to increase sales. For instance, Ralph Lauren uses premium prices for quality
products to differentiate itself, while Coach uses product variety within the line of handbags to remain competitive (Stewart 2016). Also, when the
industry is flooded with similar companies producing similar merchandise, the probability of a company stagnating is high because consumers have a
variety to pick from. Hence, the need to establish loyal customers.
Michael Kors is also facing the threat of new entrants. McClatchey and Murray (2011) observe that most talented designers working for big labels
such as Stella McCartney and Gucci typically go on to create their own labels increasing the intensity of the competition. However, the newer labels
take time before amassing a followership and loyal customers because of capital constraints, lack of experience, and retaliation by established brands.

The Inaccurate Western Civilization In The 16th Century
In the 16th to mid–20th century, Western powers and knowledge have dominated other countries, due to the Western superiority to the other cultures in
terms of civilization. According to Said, having knowledge is to dominate it; having authority is to deny autonomy to the Oriental country. Evidently,
the inaccurate Western cultural perception towards Eastern world has resulted in the practice of power over, what they presumed, the 'weaker'
countries. Java was once an influential Hindu–Buddhist empire and yet, it became one of the victims under colonial rule. In the beginning of
colonization in 16th century, Dutch colonies derived their architectural knowledge from their home country and replicated in Java. However, in the

Rejecting Social Norms: The Goth Subculture Essay
The late seventies and early eighties saw the beginning emergence of the Goth subculture: a group of social misfits that appear to always find
themselves on the outskirts of mainstream pop culture. It is a complex subculture with great depth and mystery. The Gothics share a connection with
the darker aesthetic, through their intense music and sexual fetishism, calling into question their predisposition to depression and rejection of social
norms. There is rarely a single moment in history when one can pinpoint the exact moment when a subculture emerges. It is a slow building of multiple
influences. Valerie Steele, Gothic Dark Glamour, describes historical accounts of nomadic, warriors living in the forests of northern Europe in the third

In addition and along side of Bauhaus, Siouxsie Sioux of the Banshees solidified Goth as a genre/subculture when referring to her band's new direction
as Gothic (Thompson). As is often the case, many of the music artists credited with influencing Goth's emergence and establishing its longevity as a
subculture didn't agree they helped inspire this new scene. Ian Astbury of the Cult, then the Southern Death Cult, also a revered as a pioneer of the
Goth movement said of the subculture, "The Goth tag was a bit of a joke" (qtd. in Thompson). In a joint interview, Peter Murphy and Ian Astbury
jokingly concluded it was the combination of the audience that they created through their own unintentional look, "musically, the Banshees were the
archetypes, The Cramps for their imagery and clothing, and Bauhaus for their makeup" (Thompson). Despite the artists' refusal to completely embrace
their influence or identify with this subculture, the Goth movement spread and future artists would be categorized as well in a subculture they didn't
necessarily adhere to but took it to the stage for the audience. The fans, which already identified with that which is macabre, reinforced the Goth label
with their obscure behavior. For example, at a Specimen show in 1982, unbeknownst to the band, the fans created a funeral procession down the street
of the club they were playing (Thompson). Like their counterparts in the punk subculture, the people who embrace the Goth ideals

Fashion Trends And The Fashion Industry
According to Scratchhard.com, the fashion industry generates an average of $20 billion each year. Fashion designers are the heart of the fashion world.
The fashion industry has grown to popularity by dominating the worldwide economy, media, workplace, and everyday life. Clothing trends have
changed over the last century due to historical events and the evolution of technology. With the gift of creativity and skill of constructing clothing,
fashion designers complete a degree in designing, research past trends, predict future trends, sketch ideas, and oversee production of their designs.
Fashion designers translate their ideas into clothing to sell. The first step of designing is researching current fashion trends and predicting future
trends. Trends determine the success of the fashion industry. Designers normally choose a speciality to design, such as swimwear, bridal wear,
children's clothing, footwear, and men's wear. Sketching the original design is the next important step of the design process. Computer Aided Designs
are the modern method of sketching. Next, fabric and embellishments are chosen to correspond with the designer's vision. Creating custom printed
fabric and custom dyeing fabric is common for designers. Most designers work for large companies which provide the designer with a sewing team.
Large apparel companies usually consist of a team of designers headed by a creative manager. Communicating ideas to the sewing team and giving

Abstract An Industry Analysis is used by companies to assess and understand other businesses within the same industry. It is used to gain knowledge
overall about the economic, political, and market factors that help develop the way an industry is developed. Business owners are the ones mostly
involved in the Industry Analysis because it helps determine a company's success.
In the case of WindowsWear, the Industry Analysis is very important to help them to determine whether or not it is worth opening a physicalmuseum or
just continuing to do business online. The Industry Analysis will allow WindowsWear to see information such as rise in disposable income in the
museum industry and the type of competitors that may form a roadblock.
Background

fashion visual display and merchandising database (C., 19). WindowsWear is a company that provides visual merchandising, that is focused on trying
to grow from Ecommerce to a physical location in the Museum Industry because their number one goal "is to drive traffic to the world's famous

Fashion In The Early 1900s
The Jazz culture inspired multiple dances, such as the Black Bottom and the ever–popular Charleston. These dances required lots of movement leading
to a shift in women's fashion. Women wore less undergarments, went without coresets, and designed dresses that allowed for more freedom of
movement. In 1921, Coco Chanel introduced the "drop–waist" dress, which were worn with long strings of glass beads or pearls. By 1925 these
dresses resembled the shifts that were worn under the dresses of the early 1900. Evening dress were made up of mesh material, sleeveless, low
v–neckline or backless, and sometimes adorned with sequence. These new fashions were advertised in fashion magazines that made their appearance in
the 20s, Vouge, The Queen, and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With advances in technologies and the development of college and night life, more young people were spending more time together unsupervised.
These changes created a sexual revolution in people dated several partners at a time and participated in "petting." The invention of the automobile
allowed for young people to travel outside the family sitting room, even young women learned to drive. Electric lights permitted for young adults to
stay out later into the night and created activities to enjoy, such as the theater and night clubs. These developments in the dating culture strayed from
the prior Victorian teachings of how ladies should behave with boys. The "new" woman expected to be treated on these dates and that meant that she
needed to allow "petting." Petting consisted of cuddling, kissing, and even foundling. This behavior led older women to believe that their daughters
were partaking in premarital sex, Joshua Zeitz disputes this in his book, Flapper: A Madcap Story of Sex, Style, Celebrity, and the Women Who
Made America Modern. He claims that the percentage of women who were virgins when they were married only varied between the years of 1910 to
1929 by 3%. This shows that even though young women in the 20s were engaged in "petting," they were not sexually

By introducing a modern approach to fashion collaborating technological innovation ideas with a historical sense of a classical garment I aimed to
manifest the core fundamental of Modernism in the fashion industry.'
The core reason to take part in the Fashionclash Festival 2017 is to reflect on the implementation of how for example, Kandinsky's resemblance to
visual reality pushed humankind to evolve in such abstract approach. After all, all designers to be the guardians of civilization and more importantly
our attitude towards everyday fashion must emphasize the development of functionality.
Build in tech materials, smart textiles, digital printing and much more is perhaps the new modern 'Everyday' fashion trend and 'The Transformation
Dress' is a prime example of taking a risk and approaching the unknown. I believe this is the next step forward to a much elevated fashion industry and
creative mindset. We cannot develop without technology, therefore if we truly keep expanding our knowledge we are closer to reaching a higher form
of intelligence in a fashion sense.

Why Men Are More Talented At Design Than Women
There is no way to accurately measure the success rate of designers based on sex or sexual orientation, or, somewhat speciously, to examine if men are
more talented at design than women. As Valerie Steele, the chief curator of the Museum of the Fashion Institute of Technology, said: "There is no gay
gene for creativity."
But circumstantial evidence is making some designers wonder about the disparities. Of the young American designers most embraced by retailers
and celebrated in the fashion press in recent years, the roll call is almost exclusively male: Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs, Narciso Rodriguez and Mr. Som
as well as Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler. Their female contemporaries have had a harder time breaking through, among
them Behnaz Sarafpour, Alice Roi and Ms. Subkoff.
"Gay men stick together like a band of brothers," Ms. Subkoff said in an interview. "It 's more common for a man to bring up a younger assistant" who
is male "and be proud of that," she added, "whereas a woman would be threatened" to promote another woman.
The Council of Fashion Designers of America, a trade group that vets those who apply for membership, is made up of 121 women and 156 men.
Since 1986 its annual Perry Ellis awards for young talent have been given to 8 women and 29 men (20 of them openly gay).

Fashion designers are the heart of the fashion world. Designing is a form of art that is translated into clothing. Inspiration for the designs comes from trends, art, culture, places, and the media. Fashion designers create ideas which they turn into clothing to sell. The first step of designing is researching current fashion trends and predicting future trends. • 21. Descriptive Essay On Fashion Shows My cousin, Eshna was taking me to a fashion show being held in Kolkata. I've never been to one before. In fact, I had no idea of what exactly it was that they showed in fashion shows. In dog shows, they showed dogs; in baby shows they showed babies. I knew what dogs were, and what babies were, so that was all right. But I hadn't a clue what fashion was, and was looking forward to finding out. All I knew about fashion shows was that they involved people called models. The models walked up and down something called a catwalk. No one seemed to know why a catwalk should be called a catwalk. Why not a dogwalk, for instance? Well, the answer to that seemed simple. If they called the catwalk a dogwalk then people might think that what they'd come to see was a dog show, instead of a fashion show and be on the lookout for a French poodle a la Rohit Bal. On the other hand, no one's ever heard of a cat show, so if you call the catwalk in a fashion show a catwalk you'd be alright, and no one would expect to see Garfield strutting his stuff courtesy Ritu Beri. • 29. Application Of Porter 's Five Model On Michael Kors 3. Application of Porter's Five Model on Michael Kors Four forces that affect Michael Kors Porter's five model is defined as the framework that evaluate the position of a company in the external environment with focus drawn on the level of competitiveness (Roy 2011). The framework considers factors such as rivalry, substitute goods, the power of suppliers and buyers as well as new entrants. Four forces can influence the success of Michael Kors. The first one is competitive rivalry. Here, the struggle is about maintaining performance despite different tactics used by different companies to increase sales. For instance, Ralph Lauren uses premium prices for quality products to differentiate itself, while Coach uses product variety within the line of handbags to remain competitive (Stewart 2016). Also, when the industry is flooded with similar companies producing similar merchandise, the probability of a company stagnating is high because consumers have a variety to pick from. Hence, the need to establish loyal customers. Michael Kors is also facing the threat of new entrants. McClatchey and Murray (2011) observe that most talented designers working for big labels such as Stella McCartney and Gucci typically go on to create their own labels increasing the intensity of the competition. However, the newer labels take time before amassing a followership and loyal customers because of capital constraints, lack of experience, and retaliation by established brands. Bargaining power ... As is often the case, many of the music artists credited with influencing Goth's emergence and establishing its longevity as a subculture didn't agree they helped inspire this new scene. Ian Astbury of the Cult, then the Southern Death Cult, also a revered as a pioneer of the Goth movement said of the subculture, "The Goth tag was a bit of a joke" (qtd. in Thompson). In a joint interview, Peter Murphy and Ian Astbury jokingly concluded it was the combination of the audience that they created through their own unintentional look, "musically, the Banshees were the archetypes, The Cramps for their imagery and clothing, and Bauhaus for their makeup" (Thompson). Despite the artists' refusal to completely embrace their influence or identify with this subculture, the Goth movement spread and future artists would be categorized as well in a subculture they didn't necessarily adhere to but took it to the stage for the audience. The fans, which already identified with that which is macabre, reinforced the Goth label with their obscure behavior. • 40. Fashion In The Early 1900s The Jazz culture inspired multiple dances, such as the Black Bottom and the ever–popular Charleston. These dances required lots of movement leading to a shift in women's fashion. Women wore less undergarments, went without coresets, and designed dresses that allowed for more freedom of movement. In 1921, Coco Chanel introduced the "drop–waist" dress, which were worn with long strings of glass beads or pearls. By 1925 these dresses resembled the shifts that were worn under the dresses of the early 1900. Evening dress were made up of mesh material, sleeveless, low v–neckline or backless, and sometimes adorned with sequence. These new fashions were advertised in fashion magazines that made their appearance in the 20s, Vouge, The Queen, and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With advances in technologies and the development of college and night life, more young people were spending more time together unsupervised. These changes created a sexual revolution in people dated several partners at a time and participated in "petting." The invention of the automobile allowed for young people to travel outside the family sitting room, even young women learned to drive. Electric lights permitted for young adults to stay out later into the night and created activities to enjoy, such as the theater and night clubs. These developments in the dating culture strayed from the prior Victorian teachings of how ladies should behave with boys. The "new" woman expected to be treated on these dates and that meant that she needed to allow "petting." Petting consisted of cuddling, kissing, and even foundling. This behavior led older women to believe that their daughters were partaking in premarital sex, Joshua Zeitz disputes this in his book, Flapper: A Madcap Story of Sex, Style, Celebrity, and the Women Who Made America Modern. He claims that the percentage of women who were virgins when they were married only varied between the years of 1910 to 1929 by 3%. This shows that even though young women in the 20s were engaged in "petting," they were not sexually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By introducing a modern approach to fashion collaborating technological innovation ideas with a historical sense of a classical garment I aimed to manifest the core fundamental of Modernism in the fashion industry.' The core reason to take part in the Fashionclash Festival 2017 is to reflect on the implementation of how for example, Kandinsky's resemblance to visual reality pushed humankind to evolve in such abstract approach. After all, all designers to be the guardians of civilization and more importantly our attitude towards everyday fashion must emphasize the development of functionality. Build in tech materials, smart textiles, digital printing and much more is perhaps the new modern 'Everyday' fashion trend and 'The Transformation Dress' is a prime example of taking a risk and approaching the unknown. • 42. Why Men Are More Talented At Design Than Women There is no way to accurately measure the success rate of designers based on sex or sexual orientation, or, somewhat speciously, to examine if men are more talented at design than women. As Valerie Steele, the chief curator of the Museum of the Fashion Institute of Technology, said: "There is no gay gene for creativity." But circumstantial evidence is making some designers wonder about the disparities. Of the young American designers most embraced by retailers and celebrated in the fashion press in recent years, the roll call is almost exclusively male: Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs, Narciso Rodriguez and Mr. Som as well as Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler. Their female contemporaries have had a harder time breaking through, among them Behnaz Sarafpour, Alice Roi and Ms. Subkoff. "Gay men stick together like a band of brothers," Ms. Subkoff said in an interview. "It 's more common for a man to bring up a younger assistant" who is male "and be proud of that," she added, "whereas a woman would be threatened" to promote another woman. The Council of Fashion Designers of America, a trade group that vets those who apply for membership, is made up of 121 women and 156 men. Since 1986 its annual Perry Ellis awards for young talent have been given to 8 women and 29 men (20 of them openly gay). "Who 's Who in Fashion," a directory published by Fairchild Publications, is split 60–40 in favor of men, and "The Encyclopedia of Clothing and Fashion," published last year ...
