an infectious
disease caused by
severe acute
respiratory
syndrome
coronavirus 2
(SARS-CoV-2).
Response to COVID-19
• The COVID-19 situation resulted in
major impacts on individuals and the
society globally. As a result, Hospitality
educational institutions were forced to
respond and adjust the way they deliver
their teaching.
• In most cases this has meant a rapid
shift to online delivery of modules.
Institutions in recent years have identified a need
to provide more flexible learning to meet the
needs of todays students. This has been varied
with some institutions going 100% online and
others a more blended approach. That said, this
rapid change and adjustment to 100% online has
no doubt been a challenging time for many
lecturers and institutions.

faculty members and

adapting from face to face teaching to
online. Less tech savvy.
• Rapid upskilling for teachers is often
required in IT and teaching software
• To ensure learning is effective and
enjoyable students nowadays require
high quality learning materials.

to accommodate a wide range of learning styles.

  • 3. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
  • 4. Response to COVID-19 • The COVID-19 situation resulted in major impacts on individuals and the society globally. As a result, Hospitality educational institutions were forced to respond and adjust the way they deliver their teaching. • In most cases this has meant a rapid shift to online delivery of modules.
  • 5. Institutions in recent years have identified a need to provide more flexible learning to meet the needs of todays students. This has been varied with some institutions going 100% online and others a more blended approach. That said, this rapid change and adjustment to 100% online has no doubt been a challenging time for many lecturers and institutions.

  • 10. Challenges in Online Teaching • Many older teachers face challenges adapting from face to face teaching to online. Less tech savvy. • Rapid upskilling for teachers is often required in IT and teaching software • To ensure learning is effective and enjoyable students nowadays require high quality learning materials.
  • 11. Teachers also have the additional challenge to create materials to accommodate a wide range of learning styles. What type of learner are you?
  • 12. Hospitality practical modules normally delivered in a simulated practical environment require particular innovation by teachers to achieve the desired learning outcomes

As a Hospitality students always aim to portray a professional image and approach in both visual and written online communication.
