Response
• Project funded through the contribution made by the
employees & matching amount donated by the
company.
• 75 transitional shelter to address immediate needs &
50 permanent houses were to be constructed.
• The project was to rehabilitate total of 125 families.
• As on 31st March, 2014, 60 transitional shelters have
been constructed & handed over to beneficiaries.
13. SOS children’s village project
• HDFC life believes that education plays a significant role in an individual’s life. It helps children
living on the margins of the society to break away from the cycle of poverty to a secure future.
• The project supports the education of 300 vulnerable children in four locations including Kolkata,
Guwahati, Bhubaneshwar and Rourkela.
• This project also has a holistic engagement involving HDFC Life employees and customers. The
company also plans to create awareness about the cause with the customers.
• The gift of knowledge and education is the best we can give to our children, which will come back
to us in the form of a better next-generation.
14. Teach for India
• HDFC Life believes in every child’s right to quality education and believes that one of the long term
solutions to eradicate the ‘Education inequality’ is by creating ‘Change Leaders’.
• HDFC Life has been partnering with Teach for India, a non-profit organization engaged in
supporting education for underprivileged children since 2010
• HDFC sponsored two fellows for the 2010-12 fellowship program, these employees have been
reintegrated in the company and remain active change leaders within and outside the company.
• The project provides the employees with the opportunity to have a secure career while following
their dream of giving back to society.
15. Payroll Giving
• HDFC Life encourages its employees to contribute a small part of their salary to
establish their own charity account through the Payroll Giving programme.
• This initiative has been implemented in partnership with GiveIndia, an
organisation dedicated to help individuals donate to credible NGOs.
• This programme helps employees create a strong impact in the lives of the
underprivileged through small, yet effective contributions.
• The employees are also able to follow up on the utilization of their contribution.
• A number of enrolments since 2008 and till date, has effectively channelized
more than INR 72 Lakhs through GiveIndia across 10 causes- Children, Disabled,
Education, Elderly, Employment, Environment, Health, Women, and Youth.
