Concept Of Error
 Error analysis is an activity
to reveal error found in writing
and speaking
 Richards (1985-96) state that
EA is the study of error made
by the second and foreign
learners

1. Explanation of error
(1967-1974) identified a model for error analysis which
included three stages :
Meaning of Recognition
Recognition is a specific item type on which
the examinee is required to indicate which of
several underlined parts of a sentence is
unacceptable for formal written English, or to
indicate that the sentence contains no
“error”. (Harris, 1994).

Meaning of Explanation
According of Corder (1981-128) “whereas
description of errors is largely a linguistic
activity, explanation is the field of
psycholinguistics. It is concerned with
accounting for why and how errors come
about.
