Diana Moon Glampers Alternate Ending
In was then that Diana Moon Glampers, the Handicapper General, came into the studio with a
double–barreled ten–gauge shotgun. She fired twice, and the Emperor and the Empress were dead
before they hit the floor... they thought. The bult had hit Harrison square in the Heart. But for the
dancer it hit right below skimming her lungs. She was still alive. Diana Moon Glampers loaded the
gun again. She aimed it at the musicians and told them they had ten seconds to get their handicaps
back on. It was then that the Bergerons television tube burned out. Hazel turned to comment about
the blackout to George. But George had gone into the kitchen for a can of beer. Hazel fell to the
floor in tears. Sobbing for her son, whom she barely got to know. Hoping he wasn't gone forever.

"everything is fine." But everything wasn't fine at least as she knew it. For all she knew her son was
dead. Back at the studio Diana called for the conaner people to come pick up the body. It took about
five strong men to even drag Harrison's body into the back of the coroner van. Well, I single man
carried the dancer out on the stracher. The man was shocked when he saw her chest slightly go up
and down. She wasn't dead like he thought. "It's okay, you're going to be okay. I promise." mumbled
the man. She cracked open her eyes to see him staring down at her, with a slight smile. When all of
the sudden Diana walked by and saw the slip of the dancers eye. She walked right up to the worker
dragging her stretcher out of the studio. Moon glanced over and saw the dancers eyes open as she
was loaded in the ambulance . She glared and grumbled under her breath, "Oh I'll get you soon, yah
little brat." In the car the paramedic worker put a oxygen mask on her. Well he was checking her

Jay Gatsby Monologue
White Card Jay Gatsby relaxed behind the polished drugstore counter, dressed in a cheap yet classy
cream suit and a red–striped straw boater. Tomorrow was a three–day weekend, so naturally many
customers had visited, buying various 'prescriptions'. Today was going outstandingly, as he had
earned ten times his average daily income by mid–afternoon. Usually, he worked from early
morning to late evening, dealing with moonshine suppliers, both local and interstate, his phone
ringing off the hook. Casually, he peered over the top of a pilfered copy of The New York Times,
out the dusty newspapered window, and admired the giggling flappers as they sauntered past. His
thoughts drifted to Daisy Fay, a beautiful light–hearted creature, whose sweet ... Show more content

Jay jumped to attention, his attention drawn to muffled swears that resounded from the hidden
backroom. His customer looked panicked and reached towards his hip with his right hand, drawing
back his white blazer. Alarm bells pealed in Jay's head, his eyes widening in fear as he realised what
was happening. He was being set up. Like an iceberg fracturing from a glacier, his perfect and
smooth running day fell with a spectacular splash. This man was packing heat. A standard police
issue handgun. Undoubtedly, the authorities were raiding the place as Jay spoke. They would soon
find the concealed moonshine. Weighing up his options, Jay vaulted over the countertop only to
meet the beat cop's left hook connecting with his face. Acute pain registered and intensely
dissipated. Darkness filtered through his heavy eyelids before settling in his subconscious. Jay
awoke in a musty holding cell with orange light tricking through the rusting bars. His attention was
captured by a pungent smell that wafted from the filth–covered basin in the dark shadowy corner.
He lay eagle–spread and supine on the floor, as if he had been dragged roughly by his limbs and
aggressively dumped. Clutching his head, he felt an amassing bruise and groaned. Being jailed was
the last thing on his mind. It was like being a fish caught in a barrel. There was so much he needed
to do and achieve, which had already been meticulously

Hills Like White Elephants Short Story
In both of the short stories "Hills like White Elephants" by Ernest Hemingway and "The Story of an
Hour" by Kate Chopin, setting plays an important role. The time and place in which the stories take
place, reveals the nature of the conflict of the main character. In both Hemingway's and Chopin's
stories, the place is significantly more important than the time. Both of the main characters come to
a realization at the end of each story and the place in which it takes place in is significant. To begin,
Hemingway's story takes place at a train junction where the couple is able to overlook Ebro Valley,
which is a river in Spain. The fact that it takes place in is a train junction shows that the couple is at
a crossroads in their lives. There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This subsequently became the future number one for the girl, making the other barren side of the
valley future number two, which would be not having the operation. Towards the end of the story,
the girl's decision is quite unclear as she exclaims that "can't we maybe stop talking?" However,
when the train is about to come, the American man moves their luggage to the other side of the
valley, which is the side with "fields of grain and trees along the banks", providing the information
that the girl must have chose future number one, which would be having the operation. As a result of
the setting, particularly the contrast of the two valleys, the internal conflict the girl was having was
solved. Similarly, Chopin's story relies heavily on the setting, specifically the place once again. The
story takes place in Mrs. Mallard's home as she is just receiving the news that her husband has
supposedly passed away. Downstairs, in the living room, Mrs. Mallard "wept at once" which was
unusual because normally women were in shock and did not have a reaction so fast. Later, Mrs.
Mallard went upstairs to her room and "would have no one follow her." Inside of her room, Mrs.
Mallard imagines a new life without her husband. She sees "the new spring life" which she did not
become upset about, while any other widow would be devastated to think about a new beginning.
The time in which the story takes place is important here because the 'norm' was that

Descriptive Essay About Hunting
As you can probably tell from the title, I love hunting. Everyday I dream of going out and sitting
patiently; just waiting for the perfect broadside shot on a whitetail. Hunting is what i love to do the
most, and if this place really existed i would never come back from it. I first went hunting when i
was 9 years old with my dad. My dad has always loved hunting and wanted to show me what is was
all about and why he did it. I hope that one day that I will get some land of my own further south
and have a hunting camp of my own. I have been to a hunting camp that belongs to one of my dad's
friends, and it's pretty cool, but it is not anything like what my dream camp would be. My hunting
camp would be pretty far south Indiana where the weather is just what i like. I would at least have
50 acres of woods with food plots and lurs everywhere. The deer down there can get pretty big
especially if you grow them in your woods. The actual camp would be a huge log cabin that has a
basement and an upstairs with lots of beds for my friends when they come down to hunt annually
every year. I would have deer heads, hog heads, stuffed turkeys, and many antler mounts all over the
place on the walls. Outside would be a place to hang the deer up that have been shot so I could skin
them and get the meat myself instead of taking it to a taxidermist and spending ridiculous money to
get the deer processed. Beside the place to hang the deer would be a stainless steel table for when
you cut the meats

A Short Story : A Story?
It was a normal day at the Williams house at 7:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning. Tim Williams was a
small, muscular little boy who had brown hair that spiked up in the front. Tim was like any other
twelve year old boy in the little town of Watermill he loved playing sports. ( 1. ) Tim had so much
sports equipment in his room along with shoes and clothes all over the floor, he didn't know what to
do with it all. Tim was just watching cartoons eating waffles when his mother walked in with a
furious look on her face. She told Tim that it was about time he go upstairs and clean his room. Tim
started up upstairs with a slow walk as if he wouldn't have to do it if he walked slowly. As he made
his way upstairs he already knew what he was about to get into.
Finally he made it to the door and with great displeasure opened the door only to find piles of
clothes everywhere, along with sports equipment and shoes mixed in with it. He started by walking
around his room to see what he had piled up all over the place. He was walking past his favorite
basketball when all of a sudden he fell straight through a pile of clothes! Tim had been falling for a
while until he landed on a trampoline that shot him straight back up into the air. After Tim landed
back on the ground, he looked around confused as to where he was. As he got to his feet he could
see that there were forests and mountains in the distance. Tim looked around some more with
amazement in his eyes. Tim could see tons birds, bears,

Unlike in the movie, the book shows that Adams brother Levi cleans his gun. Another difference is
that when Adam is hiding in smokehouse, Levi came over there to sees him in the book but in the
movie Ruth comes to see him. This proves when Adam says "Levi! Here in the smokehouse" (104).
Adam, "I told myself that from now on, I would take care of him (Levi) just as if I were his own

Jeffrey Bechtold 55 sentences The film "Night of the Living Dead" is a movie based on a zombie
apocalypse. The film begins with a man named Johnny and a woman named Barbara, with blonde

the house and closed the door and tried finding a weapon. As she was going through the house
trying to find help a man named Ben, who is black, walked into the house trying to talk to Barbara

Losing a case is mostly due to; not having a near death experience is no reason to use a gun. In my
past experience when I was trying to get my gun license they have told me the shocker having a gun
if I was to get robbed in my home or in public and I shot individual to defend myself. In most cases
I would have been found guilty because the teacher told me I had to be closing to dying for example
if I was attacked with a bat and got hit multiple of times trying to stop individual and there was no
way of running away then it's a valid accuse to use the weapon to defend yourself . for example

Response To The Sympathetic Nervous System
Stage1– Alarm stage is the immediate response to the stressor. This immediate response will result
in a person's sympathetic nervous system being stimulated. The stimulation of the person's
sympathetic nervous system is characterized by the increase in one's heart rate, blood pressure, and
respirations. This reaction is also known as a fight or flight response when adrenaline is released in
a person body which stimulates the sympathetic nervous system. This stage gives us the strength to
fight off a threat. Stage 2–Resistence stage is where the pituitary gland stops the secretion of
hormons that were responsible for the fight or flight response. After the first response resources
remain moblisezed and we begin to cope with the stressor. Stage

Charles Simic's 'To The One Upstairs'
Some believe in a higher power, a God, who created all things and brought this life we
know into existence. Some choose to adore him; some choose to despise him. Charles Simic in
his poem "To the One Upstairs", reveals a relationship filled with anger, mockery, and hatred
towards the "Boss of all bosses" through the use of tone and many literary devices that include
colloquialism, irony, rhetorical questions, and
In Simic's first stanza he opens "the note" to God with his initial tone; mockery. He
seems to taunt God in claiming that he is "Mr Know–it–all, wheeler–dealer, [and] wire–puller".
The intention of these "praises" is not to make God feel good, instead Simic uses them to mock
what God thinks of himself. He finalizes on this idea with his nonchalant ... Show more content on

One can infer that in this sense Simic just see's God as a "big" waste of space
and time.
By the third stanza Simic is clearly irritated with God for "pretending [he's] too busy to
notice" all the people, that chose to adore him, "begging [to him] on their knees." To undermine
the "Boss of all bosses" authority Simic starts giving God a commanding tone ordering God to
"Tell them to button up and go to bed." "Doesn't it give you the creeps?" Simic uses this
rhetorical question to address those "on their knees" for the man upstairs, to the man upstairs, but
it could also imply that Simic may have wanted a response from God, maybe as proof that he
exists, knowing that he isn't likely to get one.
To close up his note to God Simic makes certain that his agitated attitude is felt by God
by accusing that "[God's] hands are empty and so are [his] eyes. There is nothing to put [his]
signature to." Simic seems to be upset that God claims to be the creator of all things, but can't
put his name on any of it. The true anger of Simic toward God is shown when he disgruntledly
states that "even if [God] knew [his] own name, or the ones [Simic] keep[s] inventing" he

The stands wouldn't be that close to the trails cause you wouldn't want to scare the deer when you
go to your stand. Some of the stands would be tri–pod style, two man stands, ladder stands, grounds

yards to 40 yards away from each stand so that way they feel comfortable in each of those spots.
The cabin would have stone floors and an old fashioned wood heater in every room. There would

Critical Analysis Of Gosford Park
In the movie called, "Gosford Park" the film distinguishes social class between upper and lower
class. The movie starts with a fancy party hosted by Sir William McCordle and Lady Sylvia
McCordle. The party has invited a house full of guests for a shooting party. The guests include Sir
William sister, Constance, the Countess of Trenham, who depends on an allowance he is constantly
threatening to withdraw, Lady Sylvia's sister Louisa, who like Sylvia had to marry for money. Lastly
Louisa's husband, Commander Anthony Meredith is also invited to the party along with Lavinia,
who is married to Raymond, Lord Stockbridge. And the Hollywood star Ivor Novello. Beneath the
stairs is the butler Jennings, the housekeeper Mrs. Wilson, and the cook Mrs. Croft. In the movie the
guests have to perform certain roles to satisfied their owner. For example, Lady Constance is
threatened with financial ruin. Novello has to sing for their supper; while below stairs, a man like
Jennings is obviously extremely happy to head the staff of a great house. The conflict begins when
Sir William McCordle was murdered. One of the main issues being satirized in "Gosford Park" is
the absurdity of class distinction in society. Altman satirizes the idea of a social hierarchy, where
people are separated into different classes based on their amount of wealth and aristocracy, and are
forced to live different lives and be different people. He highlights the negative effects imposed on
society, especially the upper

A Rose For Emily Flashback Analysis
"A Rose For Emily" by William Faulkner, is a short story explaining the life of the peculiar woman
named Emily Grierson. Emily, the main character, is a wealthy woman who suddenly lost the only
man that loved her, her father. Then her lover suddenly disappeared, later in the passage the readers
find out Emily has poisoned and killed him. Faulkner manipulates time through his use of
foreshadowing, flashback, and slow pacing in order to create mystery.
The author, William Faulkner, uses foreshadowing in the beginning of "A Rose For Emily" to create
a feeling of mystery to indicate the stories horrific ending. Faulkner begins giving clues about a
smell in Miss Emily's home. The author says "So they were not surprised when the smell developed.

He begins the story during Miss Emily's funeral in which the whole town has come to fulfill their
desire of finding out what was behind her closed doors. He then leads into a string of flashbacks of
important moments during Miss Emily's life. He describes these events that are confusing to the
reader at the time but truly gives a look into how odd Miss Emily really is. Because he chooses to
begin the story after Emily has already passed and then he goes back and describes weird events that
happened throughout her life, Faulkner creates a feeling of mystery for the reader. He chooses not to
return to her funeral until the very end of the story, but by this time the reader has already grown
impatient waiting for him to reveal what was so strange about Miss Emily because of the
flashbacks. To further the mystery of the story the author also uses slow pacing to slow down the
time between the beginning and end of the story to create more mystery. He begins giving a long
description of how Miss Emily looks by including very minor details like how her skeleton was
small and spare and how her eyes got lost in her face fat. Faulkner uses things like this description
to slow down the pacing of the story in order to create more mystery for the reader. He could have
easily left out all the minor details and just gave a small description of what she looked like but his
choice to drag on the description

Narrative Essay On The Halloween Night
One night when I was a little kid, I had a nightmare where I felt like I was being watched by
someone or something. I was laying on the couch in my grandparents' living room. When I woke up,
I started to get a weird feeling. Like someone was there, so I slowly sat up. I called out for my
grandparents. No one answered so I decided to walk to their bedroom. They were sound asleep.
Weird I thought to myself. So I walked back into the living room to check if someone was outside.
When I looked out the living room window, I saw a man sitting on the fence in a crouched position:
just staring into the house waiting for someone to notice him. I stared at him for the longest time, I
slowly backed away from the window. I quickly ran to my room. When laying there in my bed, I lay
there feeling scared. I kept getting scared when I thought what if he came into the house. After a
while of laying there, I tried to fall asleep. Trying to keep my mind off about what I just saw.
Years have passed since and I never had that nightmare again. I usually don't have nightmares as
much as when I was younger. More so I do get paranoid quickly from the littlest things. Today is

A Haunted House In The 1900s
Back in the 1900s there was a rumor going around the small town of Jefferson that there was a
haunted house back in the woods that nobody has ever been to in about 75 years. On May 24, 1922,
3 kids named Ashley, Billy, and Cody put it to the test to see if they could find this house that
everyone had been talking about. When they found the house after 4 hours of searching for it, all 3
kids walked up to the house. From the outside the house was very scary, big bushed not trimmed
down, veins running down every window that they could see, and a big door that had not been
painted or touched in a really long time. As Cody knocked on the door they got a little frightened at
the sight of the door opening by itself when Cody knocked. "The house already ... Show more

black in the house and all they had were 3 flashlights that all 3 brought. They knew it was a ghost
they were searching for because the house got cold where the ghost was at times, and as they
walked to the master bedroom where the screaming was coming from, it got ice cold which meant
the ghost was close by. Ashley, Billy, and Cody walked into the bedroom but saw nothing. They all
slowly walked around the room and got close to the bathroom, there was more puddles of blood on
the floor and hand prints on the walls and door. Ashley turned to the boys and asked "is this real?",
"are we really experiencing this?" They heard a noise come from the living room so they ran back

How Does Homer Barron Characterize In A Rose For Emily
In William Faulkner's short story "A Rose for Emily", Miss Emily's interaction with men is known
to be abnormal and rare. Creating a bizarre contact and love for Homer Barron and her father, the
townspeople knew that "with nothing left, she would have to cling to that which had robbed her,"
she is an irrational woman who seeks love when bodies are decayed (4). Homer Barron is playing
Miss Emily, luring her into falling in love with him. In retaliation Miss Emily murders Homer and
sleeps with his corps. Leaving his body upstairs in a room that she turns into the coffin.
Furthermore, Homer Barron is a constructional Yankee, whom does Miss Emily murder due to the
fact that she loved him. She wanted to be the only woman he loved instead of being a womanizer.
Miss Emily murdered Homer because she clenches on to the near fact that he could never love her
since "he [is] not a marrying man," he is happy enough to be a playboy man (Faulkner 6). She
refuses to let another man leave her, because she is never truly loved nor married. Mr. Grierson's
body is held captive for 3 days, "doctors trying to persuade her to let them dispose of [her father's]
body," the one man that she loved would be gone forever (4). Not trying to lose another man in her
life she chooses to murder Homer Barron. He affects Miss Emily by showing her love and she wants

Cander can see what looks like two people standing in front of the door, he can't quite see their faces

before him swings open, the two men in the white suits step aside. The bright sky shines through the
windows of the room. Lobsters crawl around in a massive tank at the front of the room. A couple of
steps lead to a raised desk. A man is seated facing the windows, his back to Cander. The man's facial
features are shadowed by the shine through the windows. He rises, still facing the windows. "So you
really wanted a congratulations in person didn't you?" The man turns his head to the side, still
shadowed by the light. "No? What is it then? A raise? I'm sure we could work something out. You've

Why Emily Killed Homer Barron Essay
Why Emily Killed Homer Barron
In William Faulkner's short story entitled "A Rose For Emily", Emily Grierson kills her lover Homer
Barron after being in love with him for about a year. She then sleeps next to the body in the upstairs
bedroom of her home, loving it as if Homer were still alive. She then closes up the upstairs, never
seeing the body again. There are three different motives that can be looked at as to why Emily killed
Homer. She wanted to exercise power, she couldn't accept that Homer was a homosexual, and she
didn't want another man to be taken away from her.
Emily's father controlled her life up until his death. Emily's father believed that, "None of the young
men were quite good enough for Miss Emily and such." This ... Show more content on

They had grown so close to each other, and when Emily finds out he is a homosexual, she feels
betrayed and she kills him.
The final reason as to why I believe Emily killed Homer is that she does not want to lose the most
important person in her life a second time. When Emily's father, the most important and most
influential person in her life, dies, Emily keeps the corpse in her house. The day after he dies all of
the ladies come over to Emily's to offer their condolences. "Miss Emily met them at the door,
dressed as usual and with no trace of grief on her face. She told them that her father was not dead."
Emily could not let go of him, so she keeps his dead body in her house. This same thing happens
with Homer. Once she knows that Homer is the one, she poisons him with arsenic and then leaves
him in the upstairs bedroom. When the townspeople find Homer's body, they make quite an
interesting find. "Then we noticed that in the second pillow was the indentation of a head. One of us
lifted something from it, and leaning forward, that faint and invisible dust dry and acrid in the
nostrils, we saw a long strand of iron–gray hair."
This strand of hair on the pillow lets us know that Emily had been sleeping with Homer's corpse as
if he were still alive. She had grown so attached to him after all of those years of not being able to
go out with boys. There are three different motives that can be looked at as to

Compare And Contrast A Woman's Wintry Death Leads To A...
Loneliness, isolation, and emotional withdrawal; all characteristics of the short story "A Rose for

These two writings tell the "same" story, but the journalistic article and fictional story have quite
different versions. Considering these many similarities and differences within the stories, the short
story and newspaper article accurately showcase the overall differences between a fictional and
nonfictional retelling of an event. To begin, the newspaper article "A Woman's Wintry Death Leads
to a Long–Dead Friend" provides a factual, detailed version of the discussed event. According to the
article, Frances Dawson Hamilton was found frozen to death in her home that she hadn't left in quite
some time. In addition, Bernard J. Kelly, Frances lover, was found dead in an upstairs bedroom,
having been laying dead for two years. It was also discovered that ... Show more content on

For example, both characters, Emily Grierson and Frances Hamilton, deal with death in a very
different way than others would. Also, in "A Woman's Wintry Death Leads to a Long–Dead Friend"
Frances sleeps next to her dead companion (Pothier and Gibbons 153), and in "A Rose for Emily"
Emily also sleeps next to her already dead lover (Faulkner 151). On the other hand, "A Rose for
Emily" and "A Woman's Wintry Death Leads to a Long–Dead Friend" also have many differences.
For example, in "A Rose for Emily" Emily Grierson never gives any signs that her lover's body is
upstairs. However, in "A Woman's Wintry Death Leads to a Long–Dead Friend" Frances Hamilton
tells James Phillips that a man is upstairs (Pothier and Gibbons 154). Another example is that Emily
Grierson possibly poisoned her lover with Arsenic, while Frances Hamilton's lover likely died of a

The Fear Of Fear In The Man Upstairs By Ray Bradbury
We all think children are all innocent and cute, but is that really true? We always give excuses for
children's misconduct, distracting ourselves from the real truth. Kids are capable of terrible things
that adults quickly ignore. Children can be very scary because of their capabilities that most adults
believe to be innocent mistakes. One story that explores this fear is Ray Bradbury's "The Man
Upstairs."
In "The Man Upstairs" Mr. Koberman rents the upstairs room from Douglas's grandmother. From
the very first interaction Douglas had with Mr. Koberman, Douglas thinks Mr. Koberman is unusual.
Mr. Koberman acts strangely, causing Douglas to become more suspicious and curios about the man
upstairs. Douglas is determined to learn more about who this man is, even if he needs to do evil
things to figure it out. In the story, Bradbury uses conflict and tension to explore fear of children.
The conflict in the man upstairs occurs almost immediately. Mr. Koberman and Douglas are two
forces that are conflicting. Mr. Koberman is a rather quiet man that wants to be left alone to do what
he desires without others interference. Douglas is a young boy whose curiosity gets the best of him.
He is a nosy boy who wants to know more about Mr. Koberman's rare behaviors. The conflict is
created from the moment Douglas notices that Mr. Koberman is unusual.
The tension starts when Mr. Koberman moves upstairs. Douglas notices the unusualness of Mr.
Koberman when he gave Douglas money. Douglas

It Starts With Little Annoyances
It starts with little annoyances, such as loud stomping from upstairs and the occasional sounds of
loud banging. Jungkook knew that having neighbors was difficult, and he prepared himself for the

Jeon Jungkook, your average sophomore in university, with barely sufficient grades and a ton of
snarky remarks, had been living in an apartment for nearly two years. The apartment just above his

forming and dripping down his walls. He quickly runs out of the kitchen to get an empty bucket to
collect the drops, but when he comes back, the room is flooded up to his knees and he panics.
Jumping onto the kitchen counter, he crawls all the way to the refridgerator, and grabs his umbrella,
opening it to try to shield himself from the indoor storm.
"Someone!" he screams helplessly. He thinks of his papers on his desk that he worked so hard on,
probably destroyed, and cries. "Help!"
The front door suddenly slams open, and someone rushes into the kitchen.
"Hi, I 'm Taehyung! I like the number ten, and you can call me TaeTae, why are you screaming –"
the stranger freezes at the doorway, staring at the scene.
If Jungkook wasn 't so distressed, he would 've taken time and admire the handsome stranger. If he
wasn 't so distressed, he would 've been ashamed of his situation: having a stranger barge into his
apartment to witness him crouched on his kitchen counter holding an umbrella, screaming at the
water coming out of his ceiling and crying because he had no idea what the fuck was going on.

Diana Moon Glampers Alternate Ending

  • 1. Diana Moon Glampers Alternate Ending In was then that Diana Moon Glampers, the Handicapper General, came into the studio with a double–barreled ten–gauge shotgun. She fired twice, and the Emperor and the Empress were dead before they hit the floor... they thought. The bult had hit Harrison square in the Heart. But for the dancer it hit right below skimming her lungs. She was still alive. Diana Moon Glampers loaded the gun again. She aimed it at the musicians and told them they had ten seconds to get their handicaps back on. It was then that the Bergerons television tube burned out. Hazel turned to comment about the blackout to George. But George had gone into the kitchen for a can of beer. Hazel fell to the floor in tears. Sobbing for her son, whom she barely got to know. Back at the studio Diana called for the conaner people to come pick up the body. It took about five strong men to even drag Harrison's body into the back of the coroner van. Well, I single man carried the dancer out on the stracher. The man was shocked when he saw her chest slightly go up and down. She wasn't dead like he thought. "It's okay, you're going to be okay. I promise." mumbled the man. She cracked open her eyes to see him staring down at her, with a slight smile. When all of the sudden Diana walked by and saw the slip of the dancers eye. She walked right up to the worker dragging her stretcher out of the studio. Moon glanced over and saw the dancers eyes open as she was loaded in the ambulance . She glared and grumbled under her breath, "Oh I'll get you soon, yah little brat." In the car the paramedic worker put a oxygen mask on her. Well he was checking her ... • 3. Jay Gatsby Monologue White Card Jay Gatsby relaxed behind the polished drugstore counter, dressed in a cheap yet classy cream suit and a red–striped straw boater. Tomorrow was a three–day weekend, so naturally many customers had visited, buying various 'prescriptions'. Today was going outstandingly, as he had earned ten times his average daily income by mid–afternoon. Usually, he worked from early morning to late evening, dealing with moonshine suppliers, both local and interstate, his phone ringing off the hook. Casually, he peered over the top of a pilfered copy of The New York Times, out the dusty newspapered window, and admired the giggling flappers as they sauntered past. His thoughts drifted to Daisy Fay, a beautiful light–hearted creature, whose sweet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jay jumped to attention, his attention drawn to muffled swears that resounded from the hidden backroom. His customer looked panicked and reached towards his hip with his right hand, drawing back his white blazer. Alarm bells pealed in Jay's head, his eyes widening in fear as he realised what was happening. He was being set up. Like an iceberg fracturing from a glacier, his perfect and smooth running day fell with a spectacular splash. This man was packing heat. A standard police issue handgun. Undoubtedly, the authorities were raiding the place as Jay spoke. They would soon find the concealed moonshine. Weighing up his options, Jay vaulted over the countertop only to meet the beat cop's left hook connecting with his face. Acute pain registered and intensely dissipated. Darkness filtered through his heavy eyelids before settling in his subconscious. Jay awoke in a musty holding cell with orange light tricking through the rusting bars. His attention was captured by a pungent smell that wafted from the filth–covered basin in the dark shadowy corner. He lay eagle–spread and supine on the floor, as if he had been dragged roughly by his limbs and aggressively dumped. Clutching his head, he felt an amassing bruise and groaned. Being jailed was the last thing on his mind. It was like being a fish caught in a barrel. There was so much he needed to do and achieve, which had already been meticulously ... • 4. Hills Like White Elephants Short Story In both of the short stories "Hills like White Elephants" by Ernest Hemingway and "The Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin, setting plays an important role. The time and place in which the stories take place, reveals the nature of the conflict of the main character. In both Hemingway's and Chopin's stories, the place is significantly more important than the time. Both of the main characters come to a realization at the end of each story and the place in which it takes place in is significant. To begin, Hemingway's story takes place at a train junction where the couple is able to overlook Ebro Valley, which is a river in Spain. The fact that it takes place in is a train junction shows that the couple is at a crossroads in their lives. There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This subsequently became the future number one for the girl, making the other barren side of the valley future number two, which would be not having the operation. Towards the end of the story, the girl's decision is quite unclear as she exclaims that "can't we maybe stop talking?" However, when the train is about to come, the American man moves their luggage to the other side of the valley, which is the side with "fields of grain and trees along the banks", providing the information that the girl must have chose future number one, which would be having the operation. As a result of the setting, particularly the contrast of the two valleys, the internal conflict the girl was having was solved. Similarly, Chopin's story relies heavily on the setting, specifically the place once again. The story takes place in Mrs. Mallard's home as she is just receiving the news that her husband has supposedly passed away. Downstairs, in the living room, Mrs. Mallard "wept at once" which was unusual because normally women were in shock and did not have a reaction so fast. Later, Mrs. Mallard went upstairs to her room and "would have no one follow her." Inside of her room, Mrs. Mallard imagines a new life without her husband. She sees "the new spring life" which she did not become upset about, while any other widow would be devastated to think about a new beginning. • 5. Descriptive Essay About Hunting As you can probably tell from the title, I love hunting. Everyday I dream of going out and sitting patiently; just waiting for the perfect broadside shot on a whitetail. Hunting is what i love to do the most, and if this place really existed i would never come back from it. I first went hunting when i was 9 years old with my dad. My dad has always loved hunting and wanted to show me what is was all about and why he did it. I hope that one day that I will get some land of my own further south and have a hunting camp of my own. I have been to a hunting camp that belongs to one of my dad's friends, and it's pretty cool, but it is not anything like what my dream camp would be. My hunting camp would be pretty far south Indiana where the weather is just what i like. I would at least have 50 acres of woods with food plots and lurs everywhere. The deer down there can get pretty big especially if you grow them in your woods. The actual camp would be a huge log cabin that has a basement and an upstairs with lots of beds for my friends when they come down to hunt annually every year. I would have deer heads, hog heads, stuffed turkeys, and many antler mounts all over the place on the walls. Outside would be a place to hang the deer up that have been shot so I could skin them and get the meat myself instead of taking it to a taxidermist and spending ridiculous money to get the deer processed. Beside the place to hang the deer would be a stainless steel table for when you cut the meats ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Charles Simic's 'To The One Upstairs' Some believe in a higher power, a God, who created all things and brought this life we know into existence. Some choose to adore him; some choose to despise him. Charles Simic in his poem "To the One Upstairs", reveals a relationship filled with anger, mockery, and hatred towards the "Boss of all bosses" through the use of tone and many literary devices that include colloquialism, irony, rhetorical questions, and In Simic's first stanza he opens "the note" to God with his initial tone; mockery. He seems to taunt God in claiming that he is "Mr Know–it–all, wheeler–dealer, [and] wire–puller". The intention of these "praises" is not to make God feel good, instead Simic uses them to mock what God thinks of himself. He finalizes on this idea with his nonchalant ... By the third stanza Simic is clearly irritated with God for "pretending [he's] too busy to notice" all the people, that chose to adore him, "begging [to him] on their knees." To undermine the "Boss of all bosses" authority Simic starts giving God a commanding tone ordering God to "Tell them to button up and go to bed." "Doesn't it give you the creeps?" Simic uses this rhetorical question to address those "on their knees" for the man upstairs, to the man upstairs, but it could also imply that Simic may have wanted a response from God, maybe as proof that he exists, knowing that he isn't likely to get one.

Then her lover suddenly disappeared, later in the passage the readers find out Emily has poisoned and killed him. Faulkner manipulates time through his use of foreshadowing, flashback, and slow pacing in order to create mystery. He begins the story during Miss Emily's funeral in which the whole town has come to fulfill their desire of finding out what was behind her closed doors. He then leads into a string of flashbacks of important moments during Miss Emily's life. He describes these events that are confusing to the reader at the time but truly gives a look into how odd Miss Emily really is. Because he chooses to begin the story after Emily has already passed and then he goes back and describes weird events that happened throughout her life, Faulkner creates a feeling of mystery for the reader. He chooses not to return to her funeral until the very end of the story, but by this time the reader has already grown impatient waiting for him to reveal what was so strange about Miss Emily because of the flashbacks. To further the mystery of the story the author also uses slow pacing to slow down the time between the beginning and end of the story to create more mystery. He begins giving a long description of how Miss Emily looks by including very minor details like how her skeleton was small and spare and how her eyes got lost in her face fat. Faulkner uses things like this description to slow down the pacing of the story in order to create more mystery for the reader. He could have easily left out all the minor details and just gave a small description of what she looked like but his choice to drag on the description ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Creating a bizarre contact and love for Homer Barron and her father, the townspeople knew that "with nothing left, she would have to cling to that which had robbed her," she is an irrational woman who seeks love when bodies are decayed (4). Homer Barron is playing Miss Emily, luring her into falling in love with him. In retaliation Miss Emily murders Homer and sleeps with his corps. Leaving his body upstairs in a room that she turns into the coffin. Furthermore, Homer Barron is a constructional Yankee, whom does Miss Emily murder due to the fact that she loved him. She wanted to be the only woman he loved instead of being a womanizer. Mr. Grierson's body is held captive for 3 days, "doctors trying to persuade her to let them dispose of [her father's] body," the one man that she loved would be gone forever (4). The day after he dies all of the ladies come over to Emily's to offer their condolences. "Miss Emily met them at the door, dressed as usual and with no trace of grief on her face. Children can be very scary because of their capabilities that most adults believe to be innocent mistakes. One story that explores this fear is Ray Bradbury's "The Man Upstairs." In "The Man Upstairs" Mr. Koberman rents the upstairs room from Douglas's grandmother. From the very first interaction Douglas had with Mr. Koberman, Douglas thinks Mr. Koberman is unusual. Mr. Koberman acts strangely, causing Douglas to become more suspicious and curios about the man upstairs. Douglas is determined to learn more about who this man is, even if he needs to do evil things to figure it out. In the story, Bradbury uses conflict and tension to explore fear of children. The conflict in the man upstairs occurs almost immediately. Mr. Koberman and Douglas are two forces that are conflicting. Mr. Koberman is a rather quiet man that wants to be left alone to do what he desires without others interference. Douglas is a young boy whose curiosity gets the best of him. He is a nosy boy who wants to know more about Mr. Koberman's rare behaviors. The conflict is created from the moment Douglas notices that Mr. Koberman is unusual. The tension starts when Mr. Koberman moves upstairs. Douglas notices the unusualness of Mr. Koberman when he gave Douglas money. Douglas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. It Starts With Little Annoyances It starts with little annoyances, such as loud stomping from upstairs and the occasional sounds of loud banging. Jungkook knew that having neighbors was difficult, and he prepared himself for the worst. But nothing could have prepared him for this. Jeon Jungkook, your average sophomore in university, with barely sufficient grades and a ton of snarky remarks, had been living in an apartment for nearly two years. The apartment just above his was always empty, and he had wished to keep it that way – Hoseok had told him a ton of stories about his upstairs neighbor dancing and stomping at 2AM in the morning ("like what the fuck") – but sadly, luck wasn 't on his side. He didn 't even know about the supposedly new tenant until he woke up one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jungkook was in the kitchen, clad in a white t–shirt and grey sweatpants, when he suddenly feels a drop of water on his shoulder. "What?" he looked up. On the ceiling, big wet drops of water were forming and dripping down his walls. He quickly runs out of the kitchen to get an empty bucket to collect the drops, but when he comes back, the room is flooded up to his knees and he panics. Jumping onto the kitchen counter, he crawls all the way to the refridgerator, and grabs his umbrella, opening it to try to shield himself from the indoor storm. "Someone!" he screams helplessly. He thinks of his papers on his desk that he worked so hard on, probably destroyed, and cries. "Help!" The front door suddenly slams open, and someone rushes into the kitchen. "Hi, I 'm Taehyung! I like the number ten, and you can call me TaeTae, why are you screaming –" the stranger freezes at the doorway, staring at the scene. If Jungkook wasn 't so distressed, he would 've taken time and admire the handsome stranger. If he wasn 't so distressed, he would 've been ashamed of his situation: having a stranger barge into his apartment to witness him crouched on his kitchen counter holding an umbrella, screaming at the water coming out of his ceiling and crying because he had no idea what the fuck was going on. The two just stand there, in total shock while the rest of Jungkook 's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Personal Narrative: The Flat-Out Of High School I'm 19 years old, fresh out of high school and I recently got a job at my old high school. I work out of the lower level of my school as a kind of computer technician. It can be kinda messy and unorganized down there, but there is a nice two–person office. It has two nice big desks and a giant array of computer monitors on the wall. Also, there is that all so satisfying air conditioning, a luxury the students and teachers can not enjoy. I got the job because three of my old computer teachers flat–out adored me. I could consider them more of a friend than teachers. It has been great. Until this incident that happened a week ago. My co–worker, Tyson, was upstairs working on some computers. I was eating my sandwich on my lunch break when I got a call from a woman in the office. She was telling me ... Even the door to the basement didn't have a lock on it. For my safety, I turned off all the light in the office and the computer monitors. I kept my phone on the desk texting Tyson to see what is going on. But, he wouldn't respond to me. I sat down in the dark and played games on my phone for what felt like 20 minutes. I had no idea what was happening because I couldn't hear anything from downstairs. But, I was not allowed to call anyone until I was sure the lockdown was over. Then, the noisy basement door opened. As the creaking echoed through the basement into my office, I sat up in my seat wondering if I should call out for Tyson. I was eager to get some information from him. Someone then came running down the stairs and their footsteps were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. White Pant Analysis Clip 1––Hao Shen The first element works well for me is the costume. The clothes they wore were consistence with the clothing characteristics at that time, which brought audience to the particular time period well. From the costume of the man who came later, we could tell he was a noble. At that time, man preferred to wear tight pants. The woman's clothes was distinctive as well. From the dress of these people, we could initially estimate their identities and classes. The second element works well for me is the way that the fight was conducted between the two men. The men in white pant with better swordsmanship pressed hard against the other man. His constant attack forced the other man to the upstairs. During the fight on the upstairs, the ...
