2. Production and the decisions I
made!
• Before I started the products I had to make the decision on what software to
use. If I was going to use Photoshop or Publisher. I decided to use
Photoshop as it is less restricting and creates more options. Even though it
was going to become much harder for me to make because I didn’t know
how to use Photoshop. This decision was the right decision because I
challenge myself and learnt the skill on how to use Photoshop.
• Firstly, I decided what genre I wanted my music magazine to be. I decided
this by personal taste as I feel I would have more inspiration in my music
magazine. The decision was pop music.
• From this I had to decide what colour design I wanted or if I even wanted
one. I decided that I wanted a colour design because it makes the magazine
look organised and professional, plus makes a theme.
• I then had to make the decision of what type of models I wanted in my
magazine. How I wanted them to dress and the interpretation they gave off.
I decided to use a young guy as my model on my front cover because my
target audience is teenage/young adult girls and my model is suppose to be
as famous as Justin Bieber.

3. The Start to Finished Product
• Before I started my music magazine I analysed Front covers, Content pages
and Double page spreads. This was to allow me to understand the different
layouts and what was common of the magazines. This helped me as I
started to collect ideas inside my head.
• When I first started I didn’t make a plan I went with my imagination. This
worked quite well for the front cover and double page spread. I didn’t make
a plan because from analysing different front covers and double page
spreads it gave me ideas and I just went with it. I tweaked parts along the
way from the different feedback I received. However, with my contents page
I needed to do more research and planning as I didn’t have much
inspiration. I looked at a lot of different contents pages and I took different
parts of the layouts in the different contents pages and created my own.
This allowed my contents page to be unique.
• Every stage I went through I got feedback, from choosing the point size, font
style, colour, where the images should be placed and the colour design. I
also kept looking at published magazines to make sure my magazine was
on the lines of a published magazine.

4. The progress I’ve made since my college
magazine to music magazine!
• In my college magazine I used Photoshop
but I didn’t know how to use it and my
skills in Photoshop were very weak. This
affected my college magazine as it didn’t
look professional. However, since then my
skills have improved massively and I’ve
learnt a lot. From learning these skills my
music magazine look professional,
organised and has a flow. This didn’t
happen in my college magazine.

5. Feedback:
• I used three main people to give me feedback. They
were James, Luke and Rowanna. James and Rowanna I
used throughout my magazines. I asked for there
feedback throughout the different stages in the front
cover, contents page and double page spreads. I used
Luke’s feedback for any improvements before I said it
was my final product. I did this because it is fresh eyes
and he hasn’t seen my improvement before hand and
this will allow him to notice more faults. It was essential
that I used feedback because I couldn’t just use my
personal opinion because the magazine isn't just for me
it for an audience and I need their opinion. My feedback
was my audience. That is how I saw it.
•
