3. WHY WOMENS’
EMPOWERMENT PRINCIPLES?
• Providing support to WEPs Leadership Group that has been
established within our organisation in order to increase
awareness about the WEPs and get CEO signatories worldwide.
• Rewarding the Federation that will succeed gather the most
signatories for WEPs within a year.

4. WHY BEIJING+20?
• The fifty-ninth session of the Commission on the Status of
Women will address current challenges that affect the
implementation of the Platform for Action, as well as
opportunities for achieving gender equality and the
empowerment of women in the post-2015 development agenda.

5. WHY UN CSW?
• The Commission on the Status of Women is a vital focus for the
work of BPW International as well as one of the most functional
commissions of the United Nations Economic and Social Council
(ECOSOC).

6. WHY SDGs ?
In the Post 2015 Development Agenda, Article 45 underscores the
vital role of women in order to achieve sustainable development.
However, BPW International has to reflect challenges and
opportunities to ensure full and effective participation of women
in sustainable development policies, programmes and decision-
making at all levels from grass roots to board room.

7. WHY CEDAW?
One could say that CEDAW is the constitution of the women’s
movement as an international human rights treaty that is
essential to achieve equality between women and men.
BPW Clubs and Federations will be encouraged to take an
active role in reporting process in order to provide country-
specific information within the context of “Thinking Globally
and Acting Locally”.

9. Increasing in the number of UN Agencies
• There are many cross-cutting issues concerning women’s overall
well-being in matters of health, education, access to all
resources, work, safety, human rights, and personal dignity,
however BPW International would benefit from cooperation with
additional UN agencies.

10. Increasing in the number of members who
are active in UN Work
• The consultative status in the United Nations is the major
characteristic of BPW International. However, the coverage area
has to be enlarged under the leadership of accreditated UN
representatives in order to facilitate access to information about
UN Work among our members and lighten the burden of
responsibility of UN representatives.

11. Developing a new tool to evaluate and
monitor UN Works
• The reason to accept “Coorperative Leadership” as the motto
for this triennium is to reach more members who are interested
in UN work. However a new tool will facilitate access for
members to clear and basic information about the UN Works.

12. Increasing awareness about relevant UN
policies, decisions and strategies via social
media tools• Social media tools will be used to disseminate basic, simplified
and short information about UN policies, decisions and strategies
among our members with the support of appointed contact
persons fluent in English.

13. Developing a methodology to create gender
experts among our members
• Developing a methodology to create gender experts will open
the doors of companies to professionally trained BPW members
and create a subsidiary source of income for BPW International to
increase the services that we provide to the communities at the
global level.
