Nursing Conflict In Nursing
Introduction
No matter where we find ourselves in life, there will always be some conflict(s) that we will need to face. Some may be simple issues of
miscommunications or more complex, involving several factors, considerations, and implications that must be accounted for when solving the conflicts
at hand. Settings such as nursing homes, clinics, and hospitals are especially susceptible to high numbers of conflicts of various natures due to the
numerous parties involved in each environment. Nurses, face an increased risk of getting into conflicts due to the multiple roles they could hold, such
as manager, caregiver, and instructor. According to Dr. Higazee, "These roles lead to various types of interactions among nurses and other healthcare
team members, which significantly increase the probability for conflict to arise in hospital settings among nurses" (Higazee, 2015). Therefore,
conflicts are not something that can be eliminated from the lives of nurses; however, nurses can be given the skills and techniques to manage the
conflicts that do arise. Although the word "conflict" has a negative connotation attached to it, there is a positive perspective that can be viewed as
Finkelman (2016) says, "It can be used to improve if changes are made to address problems related to the conflict" (p. 324).

Walt Disney Conflicts
Jones (2013) states that organizational conflict is the clash that occurs when the goal–directed behavior of one group blocks or thwarts the goals of
another (p. 391). In the case study Politics at Walt Disney the CEO Eisner began losing favor with the company when the firm's performance began
to fall. Despite having handpicked a majority of the board members Eisner could not deny the company's loss of performance. Pondy (as cited by
Jones, 2013) developed a model of organizational conflict which lists five sources of conflict in stages. In stage one latent conflict is described as not
having any direct obvious conflicts; however disparities and divisional differences are apparent. Stage two perceived conflict occurs when another
division believes their goals are being restrained by another section. Stage three felt conflict each section begin harboring direct resentment against each
other. Stage four manifest conflict happen when each section exhibits some form of retaliation against the other department. Finally, stage five conflict
aftermath happens when the conflict has been resolved, but more often than not the conflict arises again. "All the members of the top–management
team are corporate managers, whose responsibility is to set strategy for the corporation" (Jones, 2013, p. 40). The various sources of conflict and
politics that plagues Walt Disney in the past were in operating under his agenda instead of for the company and its shareholders. Eisner

Personal Statement: How Do You Handle Conflict
I do not like conflict. When people disagree and arguments get heated, I just want to cover my head and walk away to a safe distance. Unfortunately
for me, conflict will continue to exist as long and individuals have different opinions and ideas. Conflict resolution requires several things to be
successful: a level head, active listening from all parties involved, dialogue between the parties, and decision–making. It can be extremely difficult to
extinguish a conflict if people lack the skills or state of mind to reach a solution. So although I hate dealing with conflict, I believe I am relatively
sufficient at it. Based on my results from the "How Do You Handle Conflict?" Scale, I tend to equally utilize compromising and problem–solving...

While I recognize that people have different opinions, showing tolerance for these dissimilarities is a different story. Using my preferred conflict
resolution methods of compromise and problem–solving requires that I understand others thoughts and opinions. My problem is that although I
understand differences exist, I do not always understand why they exist. Yes, Iwant everyone to win. Yes, I think there is common ground on most
conflicts. But at the end of it all, I struggle to put myself in someone else's shoes and understand why that person has a different opinion on the
conflict at hand. It is as if I stop short on mastering this dimension of leadership: I can collaborate and create dialogue in the hopes of reaching some
compromise, but I fail to search for or acknowledge the underlying reasons for the

I Am A Strategic Thinker
Reflecting upon my personal areas for growth, I recognize a deep need to become more comfortable amiss conflict and to be an active participant in
resolving conflict throughout the various aspects of my life. Conflict resolution is a necessary skill in order to be an adaptable minister and chaplain.
It is essential to understand what the sources of tension may be and how to react in grace and love to work towards reconciliation. I am not an
assertive person and have found myself avoiding conflict through compromising or giving up my ideas for another. Going forward in ministry, I need
to be prepared to understand where conflict arises and how to squander it. I am a strategic thinker and hope to learn and adapt methods for handling ...

Conflict management assumes that conflict is a constant feature of group life. The idea is to keep it within boundaries, not to eliminate it. Conflict
resolution sees conflict as an interruption of normal life.ii The idea is to find a solution–usually a compromise–as quickly as possible. Conflict cannot
be avoided, yet how religious leaders speak about and react to the conflict will frame how the community handles conflict that arises. The stories and
teachings of the Bible assume that conflict and change are a natural and normal part of individual and community life.iii As leaders, we can be the
voice that highlights overlooked insights and methods while acknowledging and affirming the emotions in the conversation and what each person has
at stake in the decision making. People cause conflict. We can either further the conflict or squander it with our actions.
The conflict that is dealt with, discussed, managed, and resolved can be good. This kind of conflict provides an opportunity for growth and creative
change. On the other hand, the conflict that is left unattended and ignored can destroy unity, hinder growth, and render ministry ineffective. Poorly
managed situations can lead to increased tension, decreased productivity, and lingering resentments that can last a very long time. Alternatively, if the
conflict is well managed, it can lead to improved communication and teamwork, more innovative ideas, and increased motivation. We let present

The Thin Line Between Love And Hate Essay
The Thin Line Between Love and Hate "Only the dead have seen the end of war."– Plato. Plato was a philosopher in Classical Greece and the founder
of the Academy in Athens, the first institution of higher learning in the Western world. War is nothing new, throughout history we have
experienced over hundreds of wars with more in the future. For every war requires soldiers to fight for what they believe in. In most cases the
soldiers are on a mission to fight the enemy for their country. Fighting is common between individuals because conflict is inevitable. It can try to
be avoided, but as a nation, we can never eliminate it.The way to manage conflict and reduce the damage is less hate and more love. The overall
goal of the soldiers is to fight for the interest of the country which is not peace but power. The power is sent to bring peace, once everyone is
continent peace will appear. Conflict exists because there is always someone to fight, whether that be in gang or drug wars, or more importantly with
politics and war between nations. There will always be a fight to win what someone wants, which can flare war. Furthermore, war is a state of conflict
between different groups that potentially end with death. The action of fighting is used for many untold reasons, none of which are worth fighting
for. However, if people could learn how to use their words more effectively, less fighting would take place. War is like a loop it never stops, it

Conflict Resolution At Blessing Hospital
Conflict Resolution at Blessing Hospital Conflict occurs in every setting of everyday life. Whether it is between a co–worker, someone that is seen in

health care setting. This helps the outcome for those involved, along with the care that is provided to patients. As simple–minded as it may sound,
some conflicts are not resolved, which in turn, affects the care that is provided to patients within the hospital setting. Conflicts occur in stages, involve
collaboration to resolve, and need rationale in order to help everyone overcome them.

Conflict occurs in different stages. According to Finkelman, (2013) there is felt conflict, latent conflict, perceived conflict, and manifested conflict.
Latent conflict involved anticipation of conflict. Perceived conflict is a stage that requires recognition that a conflict exists while felt conflict occurs
when individuals have feelings about conflict. Manifest conflict occurs when the conflict is overt. The mentioned example showed a true definition of
a felt conflict. Both Nurse A and B became emotional and anticipated the conflict. They both went on with their plans, feeling upset and angered about
the conflict that had occurred. The attitudes and anger clung with the nurses and it was very evident throughout the rest of the shift. Patient care was
lessened on night shift due to the lack of communication between the nurses and aid. Nurse A left work mad and carried her mood home to her family.
Resolving Conflict With Collaboration Collaboration, especially in this situation could have caused both nurses and the aid to avoid the conflict all

However conflict is viewed, students who can manage their conflicts in a rational, civil and effective way, allow teachers to devote more time to
teaching rather than resolving student disputes and/or dealing with disruptive situations, which supports student achievement (www.knowconflict.com,

violence throughout the school day, may result in more peaceful resolutions of conflict and fewer episodes of violence both in and out of school

Conflict Resolution And Resolving Workplace Conflicts
Conflict Resolution
Conflicts are inevitable. It is necessary for the advanced practice nurse to have skills in approaching conflicts, negotiations, and resolutions (Hamric,
Hanson, Tracy, & Grady, 2014). According to Hamric et al. (2014), you do not have to feel pressured to instantly agree with other teammates; however,
be respectful and listen intently and identify what you are able to offer to the team.
Conflicts occur because of the different points of view. They can also happen because of various morals, values, and work ethic. In a multinational
team there is bound to be conflicts. Those conflicts will transpire and require resolution. Problem solving with negotiations can lead to a quick
resolution.
Communication
Communication is essential with resolving workplace conflicts. Communicate clearly and frequently. No employee wants to be uninformed or left out
of the loop, especially regarding important decisions. Communicating with each other not only helps everyone to do a better job, it reduces stress and
increases job performance (Lee, 2008).

Major Factors Determining Organizational Performance And...
Organizational commitment is one of the constructs that has retained its importance throughout decades and, despite the extensive research done in the
field, still draws a high level of attention due to its association with such preferred work attitudes as increased job satisfaction, higher performance,
lower absenteeism and turnover intentions (Yousef, 2000). It has been generally recognized that organizational commitment is one of the major factors
determining organizational performance and effectiveness (Lok& Crawford, 1999, 2004). In addition, as observed by Allen and Meyer (1990), a
common link discussed in all conceptualizations of commitment is the one between organizational commitment and turnover, indicating that

Dealing with avoidant employees, who are affecting the productivity and the entire working condition of the organization is to be given priority. The
intervening method employed, whether it is inquisition, arbitration or mediation, should be the one that best suits the organizations objectives and to
resolve the tension created by the avoidant employees. Unbiased third parties are more effective because they are used for the management techniques
that have the most potential to resolve conflicts. Bias is inversely related to the range of issues addressed at a settlement effort. Mediation is the
strategy that 's the most empowering for the parties in conflict. The role of third party in conflict management is directed towards the actors in conflict
to realize their own interests when various problems threaten or disrupt their own bargaining relationship (Young 1967). Third parties are useful in the
process of conflict resolution, especially in work aversion employees where a thorough study about the background of both employees and organization
is needed. The third party can make positive and direct contributions by focusing the parties on a termination agreement, providing agenda or /and
manipulating the timing of negotiation process.

Disruption In Nursing
Conflict, Disruption, and Violence
This paper is going to explore the topics of conflict, disruption, and violence in the nursing world. Conflict within the nursing field is something that
can happen between employees without intent. As employees, disruption is something that takes place by bullying or harassing causing issues within
the organization. The same goes for violence. All these behaviors can happen from co–workers or patients. Educating on the ways to handle these

This essay endeavours to not only discuss the elements of the conflict process model such as the reasons or sources that can trigger conflict in an
organisational setting, with particular reference to behavioural factors and what positive and negative impacts that can thus be resulted, but will also
discuss the different behavioural characteristics and mechanisms that various cultural backgrounds reveal in order to manage conflict. It will further
evaluate the consequences and drawbacks from stereotyping particular cultural groups and analyse the role and responsibility of the management in
understanding the cause of conflicts and specifically cross–cultural conflict and how they could be solved effectively.

Every action that they engage in after the emotions have been developed is aimed at proving their superiority to others (Deutsch 2006). In most cases,
employees are engaged in ensuring they are viewed as the better ones in any undertaking in the organisation. Research indicates that relationship
conflict have more negative effects than task conflict. The fact that relationship conflicts result in the use of emotions in coming up with solutions
makes it more stressful to the employees.
Behavioural factors that can manifest conflict Organisational conflicts are characterised by a variety of factors and in particular behavioural. These
may take different forms depending on the nature in which they are portrayed. They could either be written, oral or physical. The oral behaviour that
manifests conflict in the organisation involves a case where the employees engage in exchange of unpleasant words that display the existence of the
conflict. Secondly, the conflict may be in the form of written documents that bear evidence of conflict (Popejoy 2002). Such documents may be in form
of e–mails that are exchanged between the parties in conflict in the organisation. Finally, the conflict in the organisation may be portrayed in terms of
physical confrontation among the employees and this is the highest limit that the conflict in the organisation can be portrayed through (Popejoy 2002).

Effects Of Climate Variables On Crop Productivity Essay
Although, a number of recent studies have carried out the effects of climate variables on crop productivity using simulation crop models such as
CERES–maize, CERES–rice or EPIC models (Lansigan et al. 2000; Rosenzweig et al., 2002; Tan and Shibasaki, 2003; Popova and Kercheva 2005; Tao
et al., 2008; Yin et al. 2015,). Most of these studies estimate adversely harmful effects ofclimate change on agriculture in both developed and
developing countries using crop models (process–based or statistical) with global climate model (GCM) outputs.
A significant number of studies have been undertaken in recent decades in Asian regions using ORYZA2000 crop model in the Philippines (Bouman
and van Laar, 2006), India (Yadav et al. 2011; Sumathi et al. 2015), Indonesia (Boling et al, 2007), China (Bouman et al, 2007; Feng et al, 2007; Sen et
al. 2011) and Iran (Amiri, 2008; Amiri and Rezaei, 2009).
In the mid–1990s, International Rice Research Institute and the Wageningen University and Research Centre developed the ORYZA model series to
simulate growth and development of tropical lowland rice. The first model was ORYZA1 for potential production (Kropff et al, 1994), followed by
ORYZA_W for water–limited production, and by ORYZA–N and ORYZA1N (Mohandass et al. 1995) for nitrogen–limited production. Kropff et al

Introduction. Conflict Is Inevitable, Be It In The Workplace
Introduction
Conflict is inevitable, be it in the workplace or outside the work place. The reason is that people are from diverse backgrounds and thus have different
ideas and opinions. In the workplace, employees are expected to work together towards achieving the company's goals. The management needs to find
ways to resolve conflicts that may arise so as to ensure that there is increased production. Conflict management is important and it entails being able to
identify and handle conflicts in a manner that is sensible, fair and efficient. The five conflict styles according to Kenneth W. Thomas and Ralph H.
Kilmann are accommodation, avoidance, collaboration, competition and compromise, (Schneider & Brown 2013).

Individuals compete for status and position in firms, and at times they get for their ability to achieve business goals by being the better than other
internal employees or external business competitors. For instance, sales and marketing jobs in most cases are a healthy form of competition within
the organization. The employees are mostly paid on a sales commission basis and this makes the individuals to strive to sell more of the company's
products. In the process, the firm will increase their sales, market share and overall profitability. Successful leaders exhibit the capability to
strategically use their competitive energy and skills for personal and professional gain. Thus, competition encourages hard work and ensures that social
laws are observed.
Unhealthy competition
As far as competition is healthy, at times it may lead to conflicts hence leading to negative results different from what competition is intended for. This
mostly happens when competition is excessively or inappropriately used. Every individual is struggling to prove to be the best or most valuable to the
company and as such, this can lead to disputes among team members. Unhealthy competition arises where there is misuse of power or where
individuals compete with the aim of "defeating the enemy". "Myers–Briggs research suggests that people who like to be competitive in addressing

This conclusion is made based on idea that family business tends to be more elastic, family's stability counts more than performance. Trond mentioned
following priorities being the basis of the shareholders agreement: "1) preservation of the company, 2) promotion of individual growth, 3) protection of
wealth"[5]. The decisions of the CEO of the family–controlled company must concentrate on how to make benefits to the next generation, meaning that
different strategic choice is dictated by the familial obligations. As Nicolas Kachaner, George Stalk, and Alain Bloch mentioned in their article "What
You Can Learn from Family Business": "Executives of family businesses often invest with a 10– or 20–year horizon, concentrating on what they can do
now to benefit the next generation." [6] The following distinctive sign is the high level of diversification; in this connection it is necessary to recall
the demerger of the Torvald Klaveness group in two separate companies in September 2011: the Torvald Klaveness Group and Klaveness Marine

in solving the situation. Both believed that what it wants is incompatible with what the other want (mutually exclusive). The American side blamed
Korean consultants' lack of experience for the problem of behind the deadline, while the Korean side blamed Ellen's capabilities. This conflict was also
a dysfunctional conflict as it harmed the company's harmony and business. If the management could not find a solution to solve conflict, the company
would fail to meet the deadline, which might totally kill the company's reputation.
* Here, the company did not have an appropriate conflict control and solving system. When conflicts happened, instead of making prompt and suitable

Essay Effective Mediation
1.Introduction
The practice of settling human conflicts through intermediaries has had a rich history in Western and non–Western cultures and therefore a broad range
of forms and functions. The conflicting parties in most of the societies and at all stages of social interaction have had access to external actors to whom
they approach when they come to the conclusion that they are incapable to handle their different opinions by themselves. In this case, an ordinary
response to identify contradictions in objectives and values be–tween adversaries is to enter into a process of negotiation in order to achieve an
agreement on such differences, which is mutually acceptable. In consequence, negoti–ation seems to be a universal, human ... Show more content on

A special research field in the mediation literature intends to shed light on the question, how influential the impact of mediator's characteristics and
motivations on the mediation process is. Concerning the state of research, the studies of this debate show a divergent picture. There are scientists who
have queried the significance of mediator's impartiality (Bercovitch/Houston 1996; Kydd 2003, Touval 1982; Zartmann/Touval 1996). Scholars like
Saadia Touval have underpinned that mediators are often biased and can perform their tasks just as well if not better as impartial mediators.
Additionally, Touval and Zartmann stated in their study that mediation is an exercise in power politics: "leverage is the ticket to mediation" (Touval
/Zartmann 1989: 129). In 2003, Kydd finds that mediators use their leverage to one of the two conflicting parties and therefore constraint concessions.
Thus, the mediator must be biased to be effective. This means that merely a mediator who is biased towards one side can credibility tell them that the
opponent will not make peace without the concession. Carnevale and Arad (1996) also remarked the importance of bias. Nevertheless, they suggest
that impartiality should not be underestimated and therefore be taken in to consideration.
However, there are a few practitioners who claim that the honest mediator must,

Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech And The Diary Of A Young Girl
Is conflict something one responds to in the present with constructive actions, or do prior efforts make the difference between conflict and resolution?
Some people react to spur of the moment situations in unusual ways. In the "Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech," by Elie Wiesel and "The Diary of a
Young Girl," by Anne Frank. Elie's quote displays a phenomenon that beneficial actions are necessary to settle similar disputes. Constructive measures
like these are the stepping stones that shape the outlook on certain circumstances. If someone is inclined to act upon conflict, it may not just result in
unwanted formalities, but also cause repetition of this act. The best way to respond to conflict is by staying positive because it can improve health, ...

The Can Being Happy Change Your Personality article states, "People with different personality traits tend to experience different degrees of subjective
well–being . . .individuals who are more extraverted, agreeable, conscientious, and emotionally stable tend to experience greater satisfaction with life,
more frequent positive affect, and less frequent negative affect" (Christopher). The prior events to a time of conflict can affect the way an individual
reacts. Such prior events include, mood, emotion, and behavior. What all of these three traits relate to is, personality. Someone with a high level of
personality or well–being find more hope during conflict then others. The reason why is because more jubilation and triumph is being sustained by
the person that they look at the positive side preferably more than the negative. The Diary of a Young Girl states, " I don't think I'll ever feel at
home in this house, but that doesn't mean I hate it. It's more like being on vacation in some strange pension. Kind of an odd way to look at life in
hiding, but that's how things are" (Frank). Anne has a cheerful personality that no one can miss. She's always talking, happy, and looking for
something to do. Because of this Anne was able to see the brighter side of her situation and change it something of a more positive quality. In the Can
Being Happy Change Your Personality article, Jackie Christopher states, "In other words, happiness and the personality traits that go along with it
may create a sort of positive feedback loop, creating lasting changes in the personalities of people who experience a positive sense of well–being". Just
because an individual does not have a superlative personality, it doesn't mean that one can't be obtained. From getting involved in more positive
solutions the personality of that person will be improved. With having a higher success rate it can alter an attitude to something of

Inside the Tunnels: The McMartin Preschool Trial
One of the worst things a parent can hear is that their child has been molested; learning those responsible is your child's daycare provider is even
harder to come to terms with. In August of 1983 the mother of a 2 year old boy reported her son told her he had been sexually abused by a day
care provider. The accused was Ray Buckey, 31, the daycare's only make employee and son of its owner. (Debenedictis, 1990) The trial became
the longest and most expensive trial in American history. The trial left in its path 369 children claiming to have been molested in some way, along
with Ray Buckey serving 5 years in jail throughout the 6 year trail which cost the American government more than 15 million dollars. (Reinhold,
1990) This trial brought light to whether a young child can actually be considered an expert witness, and ruined the lives of many of the day care's
workers. (Debenedictis, 1990) Before the Trial On an August day in 1993 a mother by the name of Judy Johnson, placed a phone call into the
Manhattan Beach, California police department claiming her 2 year old son had been molested at his preschool by employee Raymond Buckey.
(Reinhold, 1990) Raymond was placed under arrest, but due to the lack of evidence in the case he was released. Judy Johnson went on to complain in
a letter to the state district attorney that her son had been taken to an Armory a possible sadistic type ritual was performed. (Reinhold, 1990) Still with

Managing Conflict in Relationships Essay
Managing and Resolving Conflicts in a relationship Sonia Pabon Kaplan Institute Interpersonal Communication Mr. Muliken November 26, 2012 The
topic that I have chosen to discuss throughout this paper is Managing and Resolving Conflicts in a Relationship. This topic is very important to me
simply because, I personally see a lot of relationships failing, including some of mines due to lack of resolving and managing conflicts correctly. By
the end of this paper I hope that I have helped the reader understand and eliminate any conflicts that confront their everyday lives. Many relationships

Conflict need not be catastrophic or personal conflicts are simply part of being human. Deal with issues as they arise, avoiding conflict makes
situations worse. Time does not resolve matters instead it decreases the chance of a positive outcome. Attempt to understand the other person's point
of view because dismissing the other's views, assigning blame, and exclusive focus on your own perspective are all counterproductive. Do not judge
emotions, no one's feelings are more or less "right" than the other. Emotions reflect a valid perspective of an individual even if you don't understand
it; acknowledge the other person's reaction as important. Focus on the behavior, situation or problem area without attacking the person involved. Do
not assume your values or beliefs are "right", they reflect a view of the world from your unique perspective. Respecting another's viewpoint as equally
valuable opens an opportunity for learning and growth (Lifetips moving up in life, 2000). Handling conflict is a skill which can be learned. It requires
practice, discipline and self–control. In the midst of conflict, most people forget the overall goal in addressing the conflict: Having your partner
understand your feelings and resolving the disagreement. The more a couple can keep this goal in mind the less likely either will engage in criticism,
yelling or name–calling. These behaviors only fuel the conflict (Managing Conflict in Your Relationship,

The Importance Of Conflict Resolution
The term conflict resolution implies that the purpose of interventions is to resolve the conflict (Barsky, 2017, p. 4). Conflict resolution was significant
in my childhood, upbringing, and origin. Conflicts were resolved through varied approaches including prayers, counselling, and confrontations.
Currently, these practices have influenced the way I handled conflict both at a professional and a personal level.
Resolving Conflicts Through Prayer
Last school year, one of my students, continued to be disruptive in one of the core classes. Many forms of interventions were employed including
meeting the counselor, allowing time for de–escalation, and meeting with the social worker twice per week. None of these interventions seemed to be
effective. I realized that the student needed divine intervention. One of my colleagues and myself, decided to pray consistently for improvement in the
student's behavior. Through prayer, we identified that the student's poor social skills were because of low self–esteem. With praise and affirmation, the
student's negative behaviors soon diminished and the student started to exhibit appropriate mannerisms. Thus, prayer changes things; my parents
benefited from this practice and I am still a beneficiary of divine intervention for conflict resolution.
Resolving Conflicts Through Counseling Resolving conflicts through counseling was also prevalent in my upbringing. Counseling involved a mediator
of a reputable character. Barsky (2017) described a

The Pros And Cons Of The Green Revolution
Introduction: The Green Revolution was a research and development initiative aimed to increase the number of crop yields from the years between
1930–1960 and the subsequent years following them which resulted in the adaptation of various technologies leading to the invention of high–yielding
varieties of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and new irrigation methods. It has facilitated socio–economic changes which have helped in preventing natural
calamities due to the ever–increasing world population and has provided people with an option of self–sustaining and reduced poverty. The Green

These credit institutions mortgaged lands to farmers which in turn proved beneficial for these institutions as they could acquire these farms if the
farmer was unable to the pay the loan (Ponting, 2007). One of the major advantages of the Green Revolution was that it increased the use of
machinery on the farmlands (Bruce Koppel, 1987). Conclusion: Thus, it can be clearly said that the Green Revolution replaced, "one way of life with
another within a short span of two decades." due to its massive agricultural developments (Parayil, 1992). It was a major achievement when it was
implemented in the developing countries as it gave them a sense of food security after the end of the World War

and hunger and while this was focussed on, it also dropped down the prices for food, increased migration, generated employment and the increased
economy as well. Agriculture research still needs new research to tackle the upcoming problems related to increasing yields to feed the ever–growing
population and growth of food for the developing countries. Add to that, globalization and trade will make food prices less liable to local food

Conflict Between Conflict And Conflict
There is no single, precise definition of the word conflict. However, most people recognize conflict in the forms of tension, frustration, verbal or
physical abuse, disagreement, annoyance, or rivalry (Carter and Byrnes, 2006). Conflict can occur when two or more individuals or groups have
differing interests. Additionally, conflict often involves one or both sides determinedly interfering with the efforts of the other side to achieve its goals.
However, conflict can occur when two sides are trying to cooperate in accomplishing a common goal but have conflicting thoughts on the best course of
action to pursue. Conflict can range from friendly competition to extreme violence (Carter et al., 2006). In studying the numerous varieties ... Show

A positive conflict concludes in mutual satisfaction (Drafke, 2009). Below are the benefits that might result in positive conflicts: 1. As a consequence
of a conflict, talents, and abilities might emerge. When an individual encounters conflict, he or she may become more resourceful than they are in a
calm state (Dubrin, 2017). Conflict often instills creativity in people (Dubrin, 2017). For example, research has shown that workers exposed to a mild
conflict in the work environment often obtained more job–associated information. Therefore, they performed their jobs better (Dubrin, 2017). 2.
Experiencing conflict can enable one to feel better since conflict fulfills some psychological needs. Even though most people like a good fight, most
individuals will be content to argue as a substitute (Dubrin, 2017). 3. Conflict can cause people to become united. As a result of a conflict, individuals
involved may be made more accommodating to each other in the aftermath (Dubrin, 2017). Many believe that accommodation of disputing parties is a
result of mutual experiences of being in a conflict (Dubrin, 2017) 4. Conflict can avert poor decisions in that it prevents people from agreeing too fast

The Magic of the Conservator: Ensuring Art Does Not Disappear
The Magic of the Conservator – Ensuring Art Does Not Disappear
As with many advances in industry and technology, we can thank war for increasing the interest in research for art conservation. After the Great War,
the British Museum unpacked its collections after wartime storage in the Underground railway tunnels. Many items had unexpectedly deteriorated in a
relatively short time; iron had rusted, bronze developed green corrosion, pottery and stone objects were covered in growth of salt crystals. The museum
then decided to set up a permanent scientific research laboratory to further its understanding of the causes of deterioration of materials and learning
methods of treating its effects. Conservation of art is now a full–time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since many works of art using non–archival materials have already noticeably changed as they age, conservators are establishing acceptable
intervention practices on contemporary work. Restoration is a standard practice in traditional techniques such as oil, tempura, marble, bronze and
wood. However, non–conventional materials have required conservators to investigate the artist's philosophy. If the artist used a specific material to
represent artistic expression, restoration of the material may not only change its physical appearance, but its conceptual intent. The American Institute
for Conservation of Historic & Artistic Works (A.I.C.) maintains a code of ethics and recently launched a WIKI for a collaborative knowledge base
that conservators can consult.

The Green Revolution Essay: The Partition Of India
Partition of India
The Partition of India consists of a new country being made. This was done because of many cultural differences between Muslims and Hindus. They
did not accept each other, so terrorized each others houses, many rallies where formed and there was much chaos in the entire area. Pakistan was where
the Muslims were driven to and the Hindus stayed in India. Before Pakistan was created Muslims and Hindus lived in the same country called British
India. Muslims were thought to be of a lower class and were not accepted by the Hindus. Even taking water from a Hindu well would not be accepted.
More mutinies than normal broke down and the government couldn't take it anymore. They asked for help from the British to come up with an idea to

Evaluate The Effectiveness Of Conflict Intervention...
There are several intervention strategies and approaches for the conflict intervention, such as problem solving, compromise, expansion of resources,
organization redesign and activism. However, problem solving, institutional redesign, expansion of resources, and activism are very important
intervention tools for this conflict. Problem solving strategy focuses on the attainment of the common interests of the parties, however, it has significant
weakness or limitations as well. Organization redesign refers to restructuring the existing system, which allows to mix representation in the government
and power. Next, expansion of resources shall help the community for better education and economic opportunity. Lastly, peaceful activism can build

The Causes Of Conflict: The Nature Of Group Conflicts
4.Conflicts 4.1.The Nature of Group conflict Conflicts are surrounding people everywhere in their lives. In the most extreme cases, conflict
represent open fighting, even warfare. In a less aggressive and hostile form, it may reflect disagreement, tension over styles, opposing values, goals,
or even personal choices. Whether conflicts affect individuals, families, groups, or organizations, people are inclined to avoid rather than confront
them. In Scott Pecks work he suggests, that "by far the greatest source of mental illness is delivered from our unwillingness to deal with conflicts as
they arise. We put them off until the stress surrounding such unfinished business begins to influence our ability to cope and the very quality of our
lives." (Peck S. , 1978, p. 17) The same is true in groups and teams. It is the avoided task, the unfinished business, or the hostile relations that
constantly detract from the group`s ability to function as well as it might. The dislike for conflict has many reasons: it is difficult and people are
usually poorly trained to deal with it. The result of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

disagreement with Jack in the meeting.
b.The aggravating conflict was between American top–management (represented by Andrew) and Korean top–management (represented by Mr. Song)
in solving the situation.

What Are The Three Main Types Of Conflicts
Conflict forms
According to Kurtzberg & Mueller (2005), there are three main types of conflicts. The first type of conflict they describe is process related conflict
that is based on the work procedures, how well work performance is and the obligations, roles, and responsibilities of teams. The second form of conflict
is relationship–based conflict in which relationships and interaction play a major part between team members and individuals. Finally, the third type of
conflict is task–related conflict where differences about the work itself causes a misunderstanding. Kurtzberg & Mueller (2005), states that "there is a

Most people don't realize that for every action there is a reaction and there was some type of trigger that made this person act out in a certain way.
Runde and Flanagan (2007) argues that understanding one's own behavior and trying to reflect on others are key factors when trying to prevent the
outbreak of conflicts". Know how to control your own behavior and how to respond to others can eliminate escalation between individuals. "A conflict
competent leader is aware about his/hers hot buttons and in which situations they are triggered, therefore they are more prepared for situations that are

Even though conflict is prone to happen is organizations, there are always ways to solve these problems and come up with some type of resolution.
Rahim, Magner, & Shapiro, (2000) argues "justice is one of the most important concerns for employee conflict resolution in an organization". Justice in
an organizations brings forth positive attitudes and lets employees know that management is displaying fairness all around and have good conflict
management skills. If employees feel that they are being treated fairly and managers stay unbiased, they will be more obligated to compromise and be
more cooperative in situations. Rahim et al. (2000) "divides justice into three

A Research About Conflict And Conflicts
Abstract This is a research about conflict which should be considered and resolute during a project. Although, six experts are from different
background, there are many sufficient methods to deal with different kind of issues during the working. The great mode has used in the research is
Thomas–Kilmann's conflict mode instrument. (Thomas, K. W., & Kilmann, R. H. ,1974). There are five effective approaches are discussed. Each
approaches have its positive and negative effects. Also, there are many problems that each expert should consider about themselves which can devote

Conflict Resolution in a Virtual Environment
The human mind is a unique filter and for this reason, every one of us thinks and perceives situations in our own way. One crisis that might be
diminutive in nature for one person can be colossal in nature to another person. This dichotomy gives rise to differences of opinions, and different
opinions can lead to arguments. If arguments are weighed purposefully and fairly in conflict, then resolutions can lead to a meaningful outcome.
However, if arguments are just for the sake of arguments, this might lead to an undesired situation leading to conflicts among people. Conflicts among

These emails turned into a workplace disagreement. The differences in opinion caused the meeting to be rescheduled. The affect hindered our

the potential sources of conflict at the individual or group level" (Baack, 2012, p.7.3). For example, the source of the conflict between the team
member and me was a difference in opinion on how to organize the group assigned task. Again, not all conflicts are the same, and for this reason,
management should have a heightened awareness of the different levels of conflicts in the workplace.
According to research, "Resolving conflict cannot take place until the level has been properly identified" (Baack, 2012, p. 7.3). The four levels of
conflict are intrapersonal or intra–psychic conflict, interpersonal conflict, intra–group conflict, intergroup conflict. In my situation, the level of conflict
with the team member was an intra–group conflict. According to research, "Intra–group conflict refers to incidents between members of a group.
Disagreements about goals, methods of operation, and leadership create intra–group conflicts. When conflicts are not properly managed and resolved,
the end results can be poor decisions and ineffective group functioning" (Baack, 2012).

Six Steps In Conflict Resolution
Conflicts in intimate relationships subsist inevitable. Despite the degree to which individuals stand alike, differences in opinions and beliefs will
transpire. This chapter taught me that it does not stand as the topic of disagreement that retains importance, but rather the way in which the couple
resolves the conflict. According the text, six steps exist to aid in conflict resolution; "The steps are: (1) clarifying the issue; (2) finding out what each
person wants; (3) identifying various alternatives; (4) deciding how to negotiate; (5) solidifying agreements; and (6) reviewing and renegotiating"
(Olson, DeFrain, & Skogrand, 2014, p. 154). Upon reading the descriptions and facts, I find these six steps to rest highly effective and imperative to
conflict resolution. When a disagreement emerges, couples tend to play the blame game, ignore their parent's perspective, and explore for a quick
solution. While it stands evident that these behaviors do not persist effective, these six steps provide a solution. Although I do find these six steps to
exist accurate, I cannot guarantee how realistic they stand. Just as any other process, to remain realistic, the steps require two individuals who value
their relationships and desire its continuation. This process requires individuals to not only voice their opinion, but also to clarify, identify, and
negotiate this issue at hand. These steps will not occur with ease or speed, but they will sanction for the complete resolution of

Nursing Conflict In Nursing

  • 1. Nursing Conflict In Nursing Introduction No matter where we find ourselves in life, there will always be some conflict(s) that we will need to face. Some may be simple issues of miscommunications or more complex, involving several factors, considerations, and implications that must be accounted for when solving the conflicts at hand. Settings such as nursing homes, clinics, and hospitals are especially susceptible to high numbers of conflicts of various natures due to the numerous parties involved in each environment. Nurses, face an increased risk of getting into conflicts due to the multiple roles they could hold, such as manager, caregiver, and instructor. According to Dr. Higazee, "These roles lead to various types of interactions among nurses and other healthcare team members, which significantly increase the probability for conflict to arise in hospital settings among nurses" (Higazee, 2015). Therefore, conflicts are not something that can be eliminated from the lives of nurses; however, nurses can be given the skills and techniques to manage the conflicts that do arise. Although the word "conflict" has a negative connotation attached to it, there is a positive perspective that can be viewed as Finkelman (2016) says, "It can be used to improve if changes are made to address problems related to the conflict" (p. 324). The Problem I used to work in a small community hospital that had 100 beds in total, 50 for admitted patients and 50 for the emergency department. One of the significant issues ... • 2. Walt Disney Conflicts Jones (2013) states that organizational conflict is the clash that occurs when the goal–directed behavior of one group blocks or thwarts the goals of another (p. 391). In the case study Politics at Walt Disney the CEO Eisner began losing favor with the company when the firm's performance began to fall. Despite having handpicked a majority of the board members Eisner could not deny the company's loss of performance. Pondy (as cited by Jones, 2013) developed a model of organizational conflict which lists five sources of conflict in stages. In stage one latent conflict is described as not having any direct obvious conflicts; however disparities and divisional differences are apparent. Stage two perceived conflict occurs when another division believes their goals are being restrained by another section. Stage three felt conflict each section begin harboring direct resentment against each other. Stage four manifest conflict happen when each section exhibits some form of retaliation against the other department. Finally, stage five conflict aftermath happens when the conflict has been resolved, but more often than not the conflict arises again. "All the members of the top–management team are corporate managers, whose responsibility is to set strategy for the corporation" (Jones, 2013, p. 40). The various sources of conflict and politics that plagues Walt Disney in the past were in operating under his agenda instead of for the company and its shareholders. Eisner ... • 3. Personal Statement: How Do You Handle Conflict I do not like conflict. When people disagree and arguments get heated, I just want to cover my head and walk away to a safe distance. Unfortunately for me, conflict will continue to exist as long and individuals have different opinions and ideas. Conflict resolution requires several things to be successful: a level head, active listening from all parties involved, dialogue between the parties, and decision–making. It can be extremely difficult to extinguish a conflict if people lack the skills or state of mind to reach a solution. So although I hate dealing with conflict, I believe I am relatively sufficient at it. Based on my results from the "How Do You Handle Conflict?" Scale, I tend to equally utilize compromising and problem–solving... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While I recognize that people have different opinions, showing tolerance for these dissimilarities is a different story. Using my preferred conflict resolution methods of compromise and problem–solving requires that I understand others thoughts and opinions. My problem is that although I understand differences exist, I do not always understand why they exist. Yes, Iwant everyone to win. Yes, I think there is common ground on most conflicts. But at the end of it all, I struggle to put myself in someone else's shoes and understand why that person has a different opinion on the conflict at hand. It is as if I stop short on mastering this dimension of leadership: I can collaborate and create dialogue in the hopes of reaching some compromise, but I fail to search for or acknowledge the underlying reasons for the ... • 4. I Am A Strategic Thinker Reflecting upon my personal areas for growth, I recognize a deep need to become more comfortable amiss conflict and to be an active participant in resolving conflict throughout the various aspects of my life. Conflict resolution is a necessary skill in order to be an adaptable minister and chaplain. It is essential to understand what the sources of tension may be and how to react in grace and love to work towards reconciliation. I am not an assertive person and have found myself avoiding conflict through compromising or giving up my ideas for another. Going forward in ministry, I need to be prepared to understand where conflict arises and how to squander it. I am a strategic thinker and hope to learn and adapt methods for handling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conflict management assumes that conflict is a constant feature of group life. The idea is to keep it within boundaries, not to eliminate it. Conflict resolution sees conflict as an interruption of normal life.ii The idea is to find a solution–usually a compromise–as quickly as possible. Conflict cannot be avoided, yet how religious leaders speak about and react to the conflict will frame how the community handles conflict that arises. The stories and teachings of the Bible assume that conflict and change are a natural and normal part of individual and community life.iii As leaders, we can be the voice that highlights overlooked insights and methods while acknowledging and affirming the emotions in the conversation and what each person has at stake in the decision making. People cause conflict. We can either further the conflict or squander it with our actions. The conflict that is dealt with, discussed, managed, and resolved can be good. This kind of conflict provides an opportunity for growth and creative change. On the other hand, the conflict that is left unattended and ignored can destroy unity, hinder growth, and render ministry ineffective. Poorly managed situations can lead to increased tension, decreased productivity, and lingering resentments that can last a very long time. Alternatively, if the conflict is well managed, it can lead to improved communication and teamwork, more innovative ideas, and increased motivation. We let present annoyances ... • 5. The Thin Line Between Love And Hate Essay The Thin Line Between Love and Hate "Only the dead have seen the end of war."– Plato. Plato was a philosopher in Classical Greece and the founder of the Academy in Athens, the first institution of higher learning in the Western world. War is nothing new, throughout history we have experienced over hundreds of wars with more in the future. For every war requires soldiers to fight for what they believe in. In most cases the soldiers are on a mission to fight the enemy for their country. Fighting is common between individuals because conflict is inevitable. It can try to be avoided, but as a nation, we can never eliminate it.The way to manage conflict and reduce the damage is less hate and more love. The overall goal of the soldiers is to fight for the interest of the country which is not peace but power. The power is sent to bring peace, once everyone is continent peace will appear. Conflict exists because there is always someone to fight, whether that be in gang or drug wars, or more importantly with politics and war between nations. There will always be a fight to win what someone wants, which can flare war. Furthermore, war is a state of conflict between different groups that potentially end with death. The action of fighting is used for many untold reasons, none of which are worth fighting for. However, if people could learn how to use their words more effectively, less fighting would take place. War is like a loop it never stops, it continues to go round and round ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conflict occurs in different stages. According to Finkelman, (2013) there is felt conflict, latent conflict, perceived conflict, and manifested conflict. Latent conflict involved anticipation of conflict. Perceived conflict is a stage that requires recognition that a conflict exists while felt conflict occurs when individuals have feelings about conflict. Manifest conflict occurs when the conflict is overt. The mentioned example showed a true definition of a felt conflict. Both Nurse A and B became emotional and anticipated the conflict. They both went on with their plans, feeling upset and angered about the conflict that had occurred. The attitudes and anger clung with the nurses and it was very evident throughout the rest of the shift. Patient care was lessened on night shift due to the lack of communication between the nurses and aid. Nurse A left work mad and carried her mood home to her family. Resolving Conflict With Collaboration Collaboration, especially in this situation could have caused both nurses and the aid to avoid the conflict all together. Thus students who practice effective conflict management skills, help to create a positive environment where students can focus on learning. (www.knowconflict.com, 2006). Additionally, exposure to conflict resolution skills by disseminating attitudes, knowledge, and skills that deter violence throughout the school day, may result in more peaceful resolutions of conflict and fewer episodes of violence both in and out of school (Mauricio, Dillman–Carpentier, & Horan, 2005). • 13. Conflict Resolution And Resolving Workplace Conflicts Conflict Resolution Conflicts are inevitable. It is necessary for the advanced practice nurse to have skills in approaching conflicts, negotiations, and resolutions (Hamric, Hanson, Tracy, & Grady, 2014). According to Hamric et al. (2014), you do not have to feel pressured to instantly agree with other teammates; however, be respectful and listen intently and identify what you are able to offer to the team. Conflicts occur because of the different points of view. They can also happen because of various morals, values, and work ethic. In a multinational team there is bound to be conflicts. Those conflicts will transpire and require resolution. Problem solving with negotiations can lead to a quick resolution. Communication Communication is essential with resolving workplace conflicts. Communicate clearly and frequently. No employee wants to be uninformed or left out of the loop, especially regarding important decisions. Communicating with each other not only helps everyone to do a better job, it reduces stress and increases job performance (Lee, 2008). Organizational commitment is one of the constructs that has retained its importance throughout decades and, despite the extensive research done in the field, still draws a high level of attention due to its association with such preferred work attitudes as increased job satisfaction, higher performance, lower absenteeism and turnover intentions (Yousef, 2000). It has been generally recognized that organizational commitment is one of the major factors determining organizational performance and effectiveness (Lok& Crawford, 1999, 2004). In addition, as observed by Allen and Meyer (1990), a common link discussed in all conceptualizations of commitment is the one between organizational commitment and turnover, indicating that "employees who... Unbiased third parties are more effective because they are used for the management techniques that have the most potential to resolve conflicts. Bias is inversely related to the range of issues addressed at a settlement effort. Mediation is the strategy that 's the most empowering for the parties in conflict. The role of third party in conflict management is directed towards the actors in conflict to realize their own interests when various problems threaten or disrupt their own bargaining relationship (Young 1967). Third parties are useful in the process of conflict resolution, especially in work aversion employees where a thorough study about the background of both employees and organization is needed. The fact that relationship conflicts result in the use of emotions in coming up with solutions makes it more stressful to the employees. The conflicting parties in most of the societies and at all stages of social interaction have had access to external actors to whom they approach when they come to the conclusion that they are incapable to handle their different opinions by themselves. A special research field in the mediation literature intends to shed light on the question, how influential the impact of mediator's characteristics and motivations on the mediation process is. Concerning the state of research, the studies of this debate show a divergent picture. There are scientists who have queried the significance of mediator's impartiality (Bercovitch/Houston 1996; Kydd 2003, Touval 1982; Zartmann/Touval 1996). Scholars like Saadia Touval have underpinned that mediators are often biased and can perform their tasks just as well if not better as impartial mediators. Additionally, Touval and Zartmann stated in their study that mediation is an exercise in power politics: "leverage is the ticket to mediation" (Touval /Zartmann 1989: 129). In 2003, Kydd finds that mediators use their leverage to one of the two conflicting parties and therefore constraint concessions. Thus, the mediator must be biased to be effective. This means that merely a mediator who is biased towards one side can credibility tell them that the opponent will not make peace without the concession. Carnevale and Arad (1996) also remarked the importance of bias. Nevertheless, they suggest that impartiality should not be underestimated and therefore be taken in to consideration. The prior events to a time of conflict can affect the way an individual reacts. Such prior events include, mood, emotion, and behavior. What all of these three traits relate to is, personality. Someone with a high level of personality or well–being find more hope during conflict then others. Conflict resolution was significant in my childhood, upbringing, and origin. Conflicts were resolved through varied approaches including prayers, counselling, and confrontations. Currently, these practices have influenced the way I handled conflict both at a professional and a personal level. Resolving Conflicts Through Prayer Last school year, one of my students, continued to be disruptive in one of the core classes. Many forms of interventions were employed including meeting the counselor, allowing time for de–escalation, and meeting with the social worker twice per week. None of these interventions seemed to be effective. I realized that the student needed divine intervention. One of my colleagues and myself, decided to pray consistently for improvement in the student's behavior. Through prayer, we identified that the student's poor social skills were because of low self–esteem. With praise and affirmation, the student's negative behaviors soon diminished and the student started to exhibit appropriate mannerisms. Thus, prayer changes things; my parents benefited from this practice and I am still a beneficiary of divine intervention for conflict resolution. Resolving Conflicts Through Counseling Resolving conflicts through counseling was also prevalent in my upbringing. Counseling involved a mediator of a reputable character. That has caused countless hours at doctor's appointments deciding between an appropriate medication to stop aches and pains, and when is an appropriate time to return to work? This injury is unlike any I have ever experienced and takes time and effort to get life going normally. • 37. Evaluate The Effectiveness Of Conflict Intervention... There are several intervention strategies and approaches for the conflict intervention, such as problem solving, compromise, expansion of resources, organization redesign and activism. However, problem solving, institutional redesign, expansion of resources, and activism are very important intervention tools for this conflict. Problem solving strategy focuses on the attainment of the common interests of the parties, however, it has significant weakness or limitations as well. Organization redesign refers to restructuring the existing system, which allows to mix representation in the government and power. Next, expansion of resources shall help the community for better education and economic opportunity. Lastly, peaceful activism can build strong community with knowledge, and education. It also forces the authorities to change their mistreatment and misleading behaviors. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 38. The Causes Of Conflict: The Nature Of Group Conflicts 4.Conflicts 4.1.The Nature of Group conflict Conflicts are surrounding people everywhere in their lives. In the most extreme cases, conflict represent open fighting, even warfare. In a less aggressive and hostile form, it may reflect disagreement, tension over styles, opposing values, goals, or even personal choices. Whether conflicts affect individuals, families, groups, or organizations, people are inclined to avoid rather than confront them. In Scott Pecks work he suggests, that "by far the greatest source of mental illness is delivered from our unwillingness to deal with conflicts as they arise. We put them off until the stress surrounding such unfinished business begins to influence our ability to cope and the very quality of our lives." (Peck S. , 1978, p. 17) The same is true in groups and teams. It is the avoided task, the unfinished business, or the hostile relations that constantly detract from the group`s ability to function as well as it might. The dislike for conflict has many reasons: it is difficult and people are usually poorly trained to deal with it. The result of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conflicts Analysis The troubled situation of JVC can be attributed to the major conflict between Ellen and Jack, causing another aggravating conflict occurred consequently. a.The major conflict was between Ellen Moore and Jack Kim, with the following symptoms: –They had controversial issues "during the first few weeks because they were clearly stepping upon each other's territory". Ellen understood that she was the co–project manager with Jack, but Jack believed that he was the sole project manager for SI. In fact, the Korean team members always followed Jack's instructions which are different from Ellen's. В•Personality clash: Jack and Ellen have different clashing cultural values. Jack's Confucian values refused to accept Ellen, a woman, as an equal manager. Ellen, a Western professional, though understood that it was vital for a Korean to save face in public, decided to interrupt and showed disagreement with Jack in the meeting. b.The aggravating conflict was between American top–management (represented by Andrew) and Korean top–management (represented by Mr. Song) in solving the situation. Both believed that what it wants is incompatible with what the other want (mutually exclusive). The American side blamed Korean consultants' lack of experience for the problem of behind the deadline, while the Korean side blamed Ellen's capabilities. This conflict was also a dysfunctional conflict as it harmed the company's harmony and business. If the management could not find a solution to solve conflict, the company would fail to meet the deadline, which might totally kill the company's reputation. * Here, the company did not have an appropriate conflict control and solving system. When conflicts happened, instead of making prompt and suitable conflicts solving actions, the top management came into another conflict. Even they were facing the probability that an inter–group warfare will occur between the American side and the Korean side. 2. Suggestion to Solve the Conflict between Ellen and Jack

  • 42. What Are The Three Main Types Of Conflicts Conflict forms According to Kurtzberg & Mueller (2005), there are three main types of conflicts. The first type of conflict they describe is process related conflict that is based on the work procedures, how well work performance is and the obligations, roles, and responsibilities of teams. The second form of conflict is relationship–based conflict in which relationships and interaction play a major part between team members and individuals. Finally, the third type of conflict is task–related conflict where differences about the work itself causes a misunderstanding. Kurtzberg & Mueller (2005), states that "there is a linear correlation between team performance and task–related conflicts and points out that sometimes task–related conflicts ... Runde and Flanagan (2007) argues that understanding one's own behavior and trying to reflect on others are key factors when trying to prevent the outbreak of conflicts". Know how to control your own behavior and how to respond to others can eliminate escalation between individuals. "A conflict competent leader is aware about his/hers hot buttons and in which situations they are triggered, therefore they are more prepared for situations that are emotionally charged" (Runde and Flanagan, 2007). Conflict Resolution Even though conflict is prone to happen is organizations, there are always ways to solve these problems and come up with some type of resolution. Rahim, Magner, & Shapiro, (2000) argues "justice is one of the most important concerns for employee conflict resolution in an organization". Justice in an organizations brings forth positive attitudes and lets employees know that management is displaying fairness all around and have good conflict management skills. If employees feel that they are being treated fairly and managers stay unbiased, they will be more obligated to compromise and be more cooperative in situations. Rahim et al. One crisis that might be diminutive in nature for one person can be colossal in nature to another person. This dichotomy gives rise to differences of opinions, and different opinions can lead to arguments. If arguments are weighed purposefully and fairly in conflict, then resolutions can lead to a meaningful outcome. However, if arguments are just for the sake of arguments, this might lead to an undesired situation leading to conflicts among people. Conflicts among ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These emails turned into a workplace disagreement. The differences in opinion caused the meeting to be rescheduled. The affect hindered our organizational performance. In my conflict, we need to examine different reasons for conflicts. According to research, "latent conflict represents all of the potential sources of conflict at the individual or group level" (Baack, 2012, p.7.3). For example, the source of the conflict between the team member and me was a difference in opinion on how to organize the group assigned task. Again, not all conflicts are the same, and for this reason, management should have a heightened awareness of the different levels of conflicts in the workplace. According to research, "Resolving conflict cannot take place until the level has been properly identified" (Baack, 2012, p. 7.3). The four levels of conflict are intrapersonal or intra–psychic conflict, interpersonal conflict, intra–group conflict, intergroup conflict. In my situation, the level of conflict with the team member was an intra–group conflict. According to research, "Intra–group conflict refers to incidents between members of a group. Disagreements about goals, methods of operation, and leadership create intra–group conflicts. When conflicts are not properly managed and resolved, the end results can be poor decisions and ineffective group functioning" (Baack, 2012). The source of the intra–group conflict was task related. • 45. Six Steps In Conflict Resolution Conflicts in intimate relationships subsist inevitable. Despite the degree to which individuals stand alike, differences in opinions and beliefs will transpire. This chapter taught me that it does not stand as the topic of disagreement that retains importance, but rather the way in which the couple resolves the conflict. According the text, six steps exist to aid in conflict resolution; "The steps are: (1) clarifying the issue; (2) finding out what each person wants; (3) identifying various alternatives; (4) deciding how to negotiate; (5) solidifying agreements; and (6) reviewing and renegotiating" (Olson, DeFrain, & Skogrand, 2014, p. 154). Upon reading the descriptions and facts, I find these six steps to rest highly effective and imperative to conflict resolution. When a disagreement emerges, couples tend to play the blame game, ignore their parent's perspective, and explore for a quick solution. While it stands evident that these behaviors do not persist effective, these six steps provide a solution. Although I do find these six steps to exist accurate, I cannot guarantee how realistic they stand. Just as any other process, to remain realistic, the steps require two individuals who value their relationships and desire its continuation. This process requires individuals to not only voice their opinion, but also to clarify, identify, and negotiate this issue at hand. These steps will not occur with ease or speed, but they will sanction for the complete resolution of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
