4. Quantitative Adjectives
Describes amount or quantity of
uncountable nouns and number of
countable nouns.
E.g. She believes that successful people
show little kindness.
5. Possessive Adjectives
They specify ownership or relationship but they
do not replace the noun like possessive pronouns.
They are placed before the nouns. There are 7
possessive adjectives: my, our, your, his, her, its,
their.
E.g. The striking workers placed their demands
before the management.
6. Interrogative Adjectives
Used before the nouns they qualify to
ask questions. Whose, which and what
are interrogative adjectives.
E.g. Whose shoes are these?
7. Demonstrative Adjectives
They point at something or someone and
help the listener to understand exactly
what or whom the speaker is talking about.
E.g. This pen is not writing, do you have
another one?
8. Nouns as adjectives
nouns used as adjective retain their original
form.
E.g. he gave her a diamond ring.
There is a stone wall around our
neighbourhood park.
9. Verb as Adjectives
Like nouns, verbs can also be used as adjectives. Past
and participle forms are commonly used as
adjectives.
E.g. The dented car was repaired and sold. (adj)
The car was dented in various places. (verb)
The crying baby fell off the crib. (adj)
The baby is crying loudly. (verb)
10. Order of Adjectives
Noun may be qualified with more than one
adjective. In such case adjectives should be
placed in correct order.
E.g. His new red silk tie was ruined by the laundry.
