3. Points to Remember in using
Visual Aids
Arouse audience’s interests;
Emphasize the main points of
your topic;
Allow audience to understand the
topic better;
4. “A Study has shown that if member of the
audience are given only verbal
information; after 3 days, they will
remember a mere 10 % of what they were
told; if they were shown material without
verbal communication, they will
remember 35%. However, if both verbal
and visual information is provided. They
will remember 65% after 3 days ( Heybels
and Weaver,1992)”
5. Types of Visual Aids
The Chalkboard or the Blackboard
is a common visual material
used in classroom.
6. Diagram is particularly helpful in showing how
something works. This would allow audience to see and
understand the topic better. It may be a simple
organizational chart or a complex object.
7. Tables and Graphs
Tables are column of figures arranged in an
order to enable the viewers to see and understand
the information needed. This is one type of visual
and which is easy to prepare.
8. Graph is a statistical material presented in
a visual form to help viewers see similarities,
differences, relationships and trends. There are
three commonly used graphs: bar, pie and line.
