Christian Beliefs Of Christian Church
Over a thousand years ago, a small Catholic parish waited nervously. There were at least a hundred among them. They were openly Christian, Catholic
individuals. They waited in the bottom of a Roman stadium, prevented from entering the main ring by a metal gate. On the other side of this gate
lurked various vicious animals and gladiators. These Catholic individuals were about to be slaughtered for their faith. They were indeed anxious–loved
ones said their final good byes, friends gave one another their final farewells. However anxious, they were ready. They were prepared to unite their
suffering to the cross of Jesus Christ. An old man walked up to a young adult who only just converted to Christianity, who then found himself ... Show

The Catholic Church follows this practice today in remembrance of the abuse of the first Christians, and speaks the same words as a reminder of our
own duty to follow Christ wherever he may lead us–even into martyrdom. Examples like these inspire the tepid and challenge the complacent. But no
religion can flourish, nor can it provide invaluable sustenance in the form of spiritual nourishment, if it is constantly and consistently oppressed.
Religious freedom is essential to the existence of the Catholic Church and any other church for it to perform its proper and full function; no faith can
lead individuals to the ultimate wellspring of life–God–without the ability to freely expand and come to such individuals. And even more than that,
religious freedom brings, to every nation that protects it, an invaluable character and people that allow a nation to thrive. Religious Freedom diversifies
societies, making them more culturally diverse, and thus more economically and politically adaptable and sustainable; substantiates a given nation's
moral base, which will prevent cultural regression and degeneration; and encourages individuals to pursue lives of sainthood and righteousness that
would otherwise be discouraged and disdained by an oppressive state.
On a more secular note, a rich, cultural heritage is what

Christian Beliefs In Beowulf
In the Old English poem, Beowulf, many religious beliefs are presented in ambiguous ways throughout the epic. Both biblical and secular elements are
exhibited in the story, in which various characters choose to live in the moment and practice pagan practices, while others, like Beowulf, continue to
obey God and his teachings for a bright future in the afterlife.
Moreover, the most prominent element of religion in this Epic boils down to Christianity, followed by a few Pagan beliefs. Christianity is first
introduced in Chapter 1, when Hrothgar builds his hall, "To build a hall that would hold his mighty band and reach higher toward Heaven than
anything that had ever been known to the sons of men." (Beowulf, page 5). Hrothgar, the king of the Danes, emphasizes the essentialness of reaching
toward heaven, both spiritually and literally, since Heaven is thought to reside beyond the sky. Hrothgar creates an undertone of worship to God
just by creating a simple hall in his kingdom. Other references of biblical verses, and praises to God, are emphasized in order for the characters to
believe and invest in a supernatural being, who will look after their safety during their time on earth. Others saw God as a being to worship. By
doing so, the are to receive riches in return for their loyal behavior. Another example is Heaven being viewed as a place for the characters to attain
in the afterlife. As aforementioned, building a hall closer to the heavens in the sky is considered as impressive and creates a sense of nobility for the
Danes who built the hall named Herot. Another biblical reference is also included, "Almighty making the Earth, shaping these beautiful planes marked
off by the oceans then proudly setting the sun and moon" (Beowulf, page 6). This depicts the time of creation followed by the setting of the sun and
moon to glow over the land God created. This piece exemplifies and recounts a time of exuberance and admiration for Danish lands. Appreciation for
the land establishes the Anglo–Saxons' gratefulness for the terrain and their resourcefulness in exploiting sources from the land to build halls and
homes for their people. However, this feeling is countered by a reference to an actual Bible verse – Genesis

Ancient Christian Beliefs
Ancient Christian beliefs about Death and the Afterlife:
Most Romans during this time believed in many different gods and where known as polytheists. Christianity in Rome started as an illegal act of
rebellion against the popular belief of more than one god or the gods. Christian believed in one god and that Jesus, a man who was gathering a large
following around 30AD, was the son of their one god. The followers of Jesus became known as Christians. Christians spread the word of their God all
around, teaching that peoples sins would be forgiven if they became Christian. People all around the empire responded to the idea of Christian salvation.
Christianity quickly became the blame for most of Rome's problems due to them turning away from worshiping the gods to worshiping only one,
causing emperor of the time Nero to begin persecuting Christians as he believed they were making the gods angry. Many Romans believed that the
empire was facing hardship due to the ever expanding group of Christians. Romans of lower social ranking were more likely to convert into a
Christian as one of Christianity's key beliefs was that everyone was equal, so a social ranking system was of no ... Show more content on

Burials were undertaken by the church and were seen as a charitable act. Bodies of Christians started to be buried in catacombs that where located
on land controlled by church. Inside there where wall niches for ashes or floor graves for bodies. There were shafts that allowed light and
ventilation inside. The most common way of disposing of the body after death or most commonly practised was inhumation/burial. The body would
be lower into a grave, usually on church owned land and covered with soil. The way the body was taken care of after the death and the way it is
buried had no relation to what happened to the soul thereafter as it was guaranteed entry to heaven since it was

Christian Penance Beliefs
The theology of penance came into practice due to Christian having ongoing sinful acts. Once a Christian was baptized and committed a sinful act he
/ she could undergo either a public or private penance. The public penance was practiced only once a year at Easter or Lent by the Bishop. Christian
were afforded the opportunity to have private or secret penance more frequently by a priest is deemed necessary for ongoing sins. According to
Lecture II, "this was a therapeutic and preventive act by which Christians could avoid the consequences of sin". Penance was viewed as a practice or
sacrament to deal with sin and disease. Sin shapes one's desire and takes on its own shape and this was a way that the Christian could take on some
balance. The bishop or priest according article, "read a passage to the Christian, explaining the Fall of man and the penance was to bestowal God's
grace. The Christian expressed their sorrow for the sin and the bishop or priest after going through the sacrament of the varies punishment like things
that were expected of the person. It could be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

believe this does bring healing to the sin sick soul of man. Yes, it should be an ongoing practice for the Christian, that we confess daily our sins. I
believe that the church should strongly encourage Christian to find someone that they trust to confess their sins to and help hold them in some type of
accountability. But, we live in this dispensation of Grace the believer today, just wants to confess to God throughJesus Christ. Now, I don't know about
this once a year penance, I think that isn't necessary. I don't think that it matters what type of posture that one has to take on while confessing to one
another. Just as long as it is

Christian Beliefs
I would like to share with you what I, at this point in my life, believe what being a Christian is all about. These beliefs may develop over time as I
become closer with christ but at this time, this is what I think being a Christian is all about. I believe God the father created the earth and everything
on it for us to live. God the son, Jesus Christ, was sent to earth and made the ultimate sacrifice to forgive us of all sins. And finally, God the Holy
Spirit, will always be with us whether we feel him or not. He is here to watch over his children. To me personally, it is important that Jesus Christ
died on the cross to forgive us for our sins, not so that it is ok to sin, but to forgive us when we do. In confirmation class we talk about grace ... Show

Personally, I felt closest to God during church camp at Imago Dei because just being surrounded by nature all the time, I realized how beautiful gods
creation is. One part of confirmation I will always remember are the youth events, it was cool going out into the community and helping through the
church. I was connecting what I was doing to what I was learning about being a Christian. Another part of confirmation I will always remember will
be my teachers. Confirmation teachers have always told us stories about events in their life and how it impacted them as Christians, and it made me
think more about my life. These stories made me remember how every event that happens has a connection to Christ. Finally, youth group conventions
at the hotel in downtown Neenah were always a fun way to connect to Christ and meet new people. I would like to leave you with a bible verse that
stuck out to me in the options. It was Romans 8:38–39. It states "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the
present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that

Christian Beliefs
As a Christian school, we must come up with a list of statements that describe who we are and what we believe. As Christians, there are certain
doctrines that we believe in like the doctrine of the Bible or the doctrine of the church. From the WCS statement of faith, I chose three statements to
interview my pastor about. The first one I choose stated that: "We believe in the present indwelling ministry of the Holy Spirit, whose intercessory and
sanctifying work continually renews the Christian and enables him to live a godly life in conformity with the Scripture. (John 14:15–17)" The Holy
Spirit is an important aspect of the Christian faith for many reasons and the Pentecost is one of the main ones. The Pentecost is a Christian holiday that

The LGBTQ+ community has been expressing themselves more and more over these past few years and it is good to see a biblical perspective on
it. Sodom and Gomorrah is a passage that is often used by Christians to combat homosexuality. Christians often say that Sodom and Gomorrah was
destroyed= due to the sin that it contained the main one being the gays. This is not entirely true, yes SOdom and Gamosahr was a very very sinful
place but it was destroyed because God could not find one righteous person. Genesis 18:22–33 " The men turned away and went toward Sodom, but
Abraham remained standing before the Lord. Then Abraham approached him and said: "Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked? What
if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare[e] the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it?
Far be it from you to do such a thing–to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not
the Judge of all the earth do right?" The Lord said, "If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake."
Then Abraham spoke up again: "Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, though I am nothing but dust and ashes, what if the number of
the righteous is five less than fifty? Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five people?""If I

Canonization
The Catholic Christians belief on Canonization and the Scripture writings have a difference according to Paul and the letters he wrote. Canonization is
a process that is used by the churches to name Saints, the churches have utilized this since the nineteenth century. This has been done over and over for
several years. It began with the early church, first martyrs then the public claim did the choosing of these saints; however, this way was thought to be
democratic despite the information being distorted and some of it never even existed. However, some Christians have different views with the

These people were thought to go straight to heaven where they could be with Jesus in the presence of the Lord, for example these people had the
ability to intercede for the living people's sins. They believed in confessing their sins to other people in the hope of being prayed for and healing.
These people were thought to be powerful and with a direct connection with God. However, the controversy against this is that there is no scripture
in the Bible in support of this point; it is an abomination to pray to the death. Before God, all believers were equal no one is regarded purer than the
other and worshiping a dead person or praying to them was a cult (George,

Christian Beliefs About Marriage
Christians believe that marriage is a gift from God, one that should not be taken for granted. It is the right atmosphere to engage in sexual relations
and to build a family life. Getting married in a church, in front of God, is very important.
A marriage is a public declaration of love and commitment. This declaration is made in front of friends and family in a church ceremony. This can
help because you have all your family and friends to help you through the hard times. They can also remind you of your vows and help you revisit the
meaning of them. Saying the vows is a key part of the service and this can remind you of the love and happiness you once had for each other and revive
it.

Christian Beliefs Of The World
Charlemagne, was a man raised on Christian beliefs who spent his life waging war on those who were not Christian. Conquered peoples were forced
to accept Christianity as their fate or face exile and/or death. This manner of conversion to Christian beliefs completely goes against the teachings of
his beloved bible. The hypocrisy of these acts bring one to question his true motivations. Was he really trying to spreadChristianity or was he simply
using his Christian crusade as a means to expand his territories using the support of the pope and the Papal States claiming protector?
Charlemagne
Charlemagne, Charles the Great, Carlos Magnus, Karl der Grosse, the eldest son of Pepin III, was born April 2, 0742 probably in Aachen, Austrasia
(now Germany) (Winston, 2015). He was raised in an environment of change from the Franks primarily pagan worship lifestyle to one of Christian
beliefs with strong family ties to the popes and missionaries of the times. His great grandfather Clovis, had converted to Christianity under the
influence of his Christian wife, and his reign began the family's relationship with the Christian Church (Winston, 2015). Primarily educated by his
mother and the monks of Saint Denis in his youth, he spent a great deal of his adult life studying grammar, astronomy, music and the bible (Graves,
2016). History books barely begin to touch on his love of education and all manners of learning. He was also quite the outdoorsman and

At the time in which "Hamlet" was written, the Great Reformation was in full force. In England began a gradual movement from strict Catholicism to
Protestantism. Shakespeare wrote Hamlet as a Christian tragedy, and consequently, the play is laced with different themes and allegories influenced by
Christian beliefs. During the Elizabethan Era, conscience began to affect daily societal roles. People started living in a way that would please their
state and their God. They believed that birthright and actions could not determine whether or not a man was spiritually ethical (Terry 1071). "Hamlet"
also deals seriously with the idea of conscience and moral contemplation, spurred by the Christian notions of sin. Hamlet is hesitant to enact any kind

Christian Belief Systems : The Humanist And The Christian...
According to Schaffer, in America and most of the western world, a growing issue was the belief system. This issue is mainly the growing difference
between two different belief systems: The humanist and the Christian beliefs. The main difference between these two systems is the perception of the
final reality of existence, which leads to an impossibility for them to coexist as each one contradicts the other in aspects such as abortion,
homosexuality, etc. This creates a problematic among government 's identifying with one or the other when interpreting Law. The Christian belief, as
we know is based upon a single God, creator of all things and human beings. This one is based upon the bible and constitutes, according to Schaffer the

One of the main ideas of A Christian Manifesto is to remind the reader that the state is and was always based upon the principles of God being the
supreme law. To elaborate this, Schaffer cites several passages from the New Testament in which the difference between Government and God is
explained. Government is there to commend the right and punish the wrong, but this power is given to it by the Creator. In other words, Government
is still a servant to God, not his equal. "God has appointed the state as a delegated authority; it is not autonomous" (91). This is what was believed in
during the American Revolution and what the humanist belief system is trying to leave behind. Conflict comes when, influenced by humanism,
government goes against God 's law in its governing. Using tax money for legal abortion clinics is a good example of this. The response Schaffer
considers appropriate is, civil disobedience. When considering civil disobedience, the book cites Samuel Rutherford 's Lex Rex when explaining the
steps. For a private individual, there are three levels of disobedience, these are protest, flight and force. Protest should be a legal right in contemporary
society and it should always be done peacefully. Flight is a way of defense against the state to avoid the use of force. Force should only be used as
means of defense and being limited to prevent

Christian Beliefs On Abortion
Most Christians believe that the Bible is the word of God. Since they believe this, and since they believe the Bible is true, many Christians take a
biblical worldview position on the issue of abortion. Christians value God's commandments in the Bible. They believe the Bible tells them what is right
and what is wrong. Since Christians hold the Bible to be their moral standard, that life begins at conception, and that murder is wrong in the Bible, their
value judgement is that abortion is morally wrong. They take the moral stance that the Bible has religious authority from God and that they should
follow that authority and use it to make decisions on what is right and wrong. The Bible clearly explains that it is morally impermissible to murder
someone. The ten commandments, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lastly, Christians believe that their view of children should be consistent with that of Jesus'. Jesus did not believe that babies were inconvenient in
any way. For instance, Jesus was preaching and people were bringing their babies to Jesus to be blessed. The disciples sent the parents away because
they believed it was an inconvenience to Jesus. However, Jesus rebuked the disciples and welcomed the children (Luke 18: 15–17). This shows that, to
Jesus, children were not an inconvenience. Christians believe that since they should model themselves after Jesus, and Jesus did not see children as
inconvenient, that it is wrong to get an abortion simply because it may be convenient, which is the main reason people get abortions today. Christians
who hold the biblical worldview of abortion believe that abortion is morally wrong because the Bible is given the authority by God to tell them what
is right and wrong and from a biblical standpoint, abortion is wrong. Since the bible says that it is wrong to murder, that life begins at conception, that
killing the innocent is wrong, and that Christians are supposed to be like Christ, the Biblical worldview stance is that

The Theory Of Science And Christian Belief
Provided that science still requires repeatable and measurable outcomes, the thought that eukaryotes produced sophisticated human life capable of high
functioning individuals when they could not even develop the most basic features is preposterous. Although the previous claim may have been
overstepped, there are claims of theistic evolution that offer a logical argument to a personal creation by the Living God. Arguments that God could
take inert objects, add a dash of mutation, conceptualize and implement natural selection, and allow this to take course in His time all have the potential
to be correct as stand–alones. Diane Bissen is a renowned biologist and theologian; therefore she is as capable as anyone combining these fields into
the idea of theistic evolution. In digesting her rather lengthy article in the twenty sixth edition of Science & Christian Belief, I have drawn near to the
concept that, individually, the principles of evolution make logical sense, but when compiled together with one or more other principles, they becomes
"purposeless" and "mindless."
Limiting the Creator to mere man–made principles shows a lack of faith in Him. Even theistic evolutionists agree that God is not subjected to the law
of man. Commentaries of the Bible offer a different spin on familiar stories. Through research, reaching Robert Alter's The Five Books of Moses
brought the Pentateuch into a light otherwise unexplored. On page twenty–three of Alter's commentary – as he discusses

Early Christian Beliefs
Initially, communities of early Christian believers were able to choose their own leaders; however, as centuries passed, the practice of having secular
rulers choose appoint church leaders became routine. These appointed leaders were eventually able to establish permanent institutions, which not only
expressed Christian values, but also drew from many Greco–Roman Traditions. The creation of Nicene Creed and the establishment of the Roman
Catholic Church and the Byzantine Christian (Orthodox) Church allowed the Christian church to expand and thrive. Initially, communities of early
Christian believers were able to choose their own leaders; however, as centuries passed, the practice of having secular rulers choose appoint church
leaders became routine. As the Roman empire was divided up into dioceses, the church followed suit with each dioceses being led by a bishop from
their cathedral, who was responsible for their community's preaching, religious teaching, community goods, maintaining orthodox doctrines, and
delegating responsibilities for preaching and teaching as needed. Although secular leaders frequently chose church leaders, conflicts of jurisdiction over

emperors would settle disputes by calling councils of bishops and theologians. Church leaders in the east disagreed with Rome's claim of supremacy,

The Beliefs Between Christians And Mormons
The beliefs between Christians and Mormons are very different. Some would say that they are different because The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter–day Saints is a cult. There has been great debate about whether or not the LDS church is a cult or part of the Christian religion. People believe
that Mormonism is a cult, mostly because of the very different theology between The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–day Saints and biblical teachings.
Mormonism holds authority to The Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price, and parts of the Bible that do not contradict
Mormon doctrine (Cultwatch.com).
So, whether is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–day Saints is by "definition" a cult or not, there is some major differences between Mormon
theology and biblical teaching. One of the biggest and very different beliefs of Christian and Mormon is faith is God and human beings becoming
gods. This paper will explore the Mormon belief of exaltation and God.

Christian Beliefs Of The Trinity
A cornerstone teaching of many Christian beliefs is that of the Trinity. It is also a debated and misunderstood concept. Besides being just outright
refuted, there are a couple of ways in which the Trinity is misunderstood. These misunderstandings can relate to other religions which a person may be
more familiar with, or might believe. God as the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit is a difficult concept to embrace fully but is not much unlike the
concept of understanding an omniscient and omnipotent being that exists before during and after time. There are several explanations that help our
human brains comprehend the concept and differentiate the Trinity from other religions. Two common religions view the Trinity as three gods such
as Paganism or is one God that reveals himself in three different forms or persons such as Monism. An individual with a Pagan view might see the
Trinity as three gods. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as separate and different but related gods with the same purpose. This would be a
similar view similar a few that of the Greeks with their many different God of the Pantheon. A person looking at the Trinity with a background in
something like Hinduism, might see the mentioning of the Trinity and related back to their beliefs or knowledge. Hindu might see the Father as one
God while the Son is a manifestation of the father but not a true God. The same could be seen for the Holy Spirit. By explaining the Trinity, it is seen

Sources for Christian belief are those things that deliver information about God and act as vehicles for what God reveals. Norms are standards by
which any information is tested to be accurate and true. Charles Wesley describes these sources and norms for Christian belief as Scripture, Tradition,
Reason, Experience.1 Although he was not the first, what he articulated came to be known as the Wesleyan Quadrilateral. To sum this up, Christians
believe in many things for a wide variety of reasons and the importance of sources and norms are vehicles to a Christian's way of thinking in what to

Jesus declared to his disciples the Holy Spirit will "teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."3 The writings of those
apostles and their associates came to be considered by the churches as possessing the same authority as the Law and Prophets (Old Testament).
However, the Bible is for Christianity the most authoritative and respected source directly available for correct theological information. It acts as a
standard by which none can contradict. Just as it would be unthinkable for a U.S. Supreme Court judge to say, "The constitution says all Americans
should have the freedom of speech, but disagree!"4 So it would be unthinkable for a Christian to deny the teaching of Scripture. To be faithful to
Christian doctrine one must be faithful to Scripture.
The ultimate source and norm would be for all Christian faith and practice through Jesus Christ himself. God's revelation to the Hebrew prophets and
in the apostolic witness to Jesus Christ as carried forth in God's written, inspired Word, the Bible, and as distilled in the essence of the Rule of Faith is
Christianity's ultimate source and final norm for faith and life.5 Luther described Christ as the "canon within the

The Beliefs Of A Christian
(iii) Their beliefs as a Christian. Over the years my Christian Beliefs have evolved, and I am a grateful for that. I have found that these conversations
can turn negative very quickly without grace and love, for everyone is on journey, specifically the individuals I live life with that are experiencing
homelessness and displacement. I do my best to be sensitive to everyone's current understanding of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy
Spirit. I find that when I am interacting and discussing aspects of my Christian Beliefs I tend to highlight "The Apostles Creed." However my belief
system is in no shape or form limited to just that. Below is a detailed outline of my Christian Beliefs.
1)Triune God. God is one God in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
2)Scripture. The writings in the Old Testament and New Testament are the inspired word of God.
3)Salvation through Jesus Christ. God 's redeeming love is active to save sinners through Jesus ' incarnate life and teachings, through his atoning death,
his resurrection, his sovereign presence through history, and his promised return.
4)Sanctification. The grace of sanctification draws one toward the gift of Christian perfection, which Wesley described as a heart "habitually filled
with the love of God and neighbor" and as "having the mind of Christ and walking as he walked."
5)Sacraments. I believe strongly in the Holy Baptism as a profession and mark of difference whereby Christians are distinguished

Christianity And Christianity : My Beliefs As A Christian
2. Your beliefs as a Christian including your understanding of God, the person and work of Jesus Christ, humanity and the need for divine grace, and
the role of the sacraments in the life of faith. In general, my beliefs as a Christian stem from what Jesus identified as the most important
commandment, "The first is, 'Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; 30 you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all
your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.' 31 The second is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other
commandment greater than these." While my beliefs at time are broad and at other times very concentrated, I aim to center them through my love
towards God and towards other people.
William Willmon has said, "we do no good work in the world that is not subsequent to and responsive to the work that a creative God is already
doing." By understanding of God is that God is acting in our lives long before we recognize God. Go dis continually creating, redeeming, and
sustaining us within. I also believe God to be a Trinitarian mystery where the three persons of the Father, Son, andHoly Spirit are one being in God.
My understanding of God is also based on the grace that God offers and the power of this grace at work in the world. Understanding grace allows for
us to see the love that God offers the world which God created. Grace is the love that we receive in our own relationship with God.

Moganism And The Christian Beliefs Of Christianity And...
Throughout antiquity, religion has occupied itself with a major role in man's life. From the time of Adam through the present, man has ventured in
countless directions to discover resolution and the reason for life. Man has never believed, agreed, or participated in a correct manner; conversely, the
search for a truth has prevailed throughout time. Consequently, paganism has captured a large portion of the religious scene in the search for a truth,
but the Christian church joined the debate to demonstrate "what is the truth." The church accomplished this, with numerous trials, by defining and
defending the Christian worldview demonstrated by creeds, and with scripture. While paganism is rapidly growing and influencing our American
society today, we should engage it the same as the early church because the biblical worldview and scripture are ageless and unchanging.
The early theologians were leaders of a Christian audience who came to be known as the "apostolic fathers"–some were men believed to have known
an apostle and were trusted as being reliable and truthful teachers. Many of these apostolic fathers fought for the faith up to their deaths as martyrs.
According to Roger Olson, they created Christian theology by protecting the faith; they came to be that bridge between "Christian thinkers who argue
the faith reasonably and even philosophically, and Christian thinkers who saw doing so as a dangerous endeavor." Numerous church fathers attempted
to show the similarities

of its characters. Dracula one of the main characters in the novel is used to take on the characteristics of the AntiChrist. Stoker uses many beliefs from
the Christian religion to display numerous amounts of Anti–Christian values, superstitious beliefs of the protection towards evil, and to compare and
contrast the powers of God with those of Dracula. It is a theme that is used throughout the entire book. There are many ways that Bram Stoker's
character Dracula can be considered the AntiChrist, mostly because of the showing of Anti–Christian values and abuses

Christian Beliefs : The Way Of A Savior
Christian beliefs are rooted in the idea of a risen Savior. The fact that Jesus was crucified, buried and rose again on the third day is a cornerstone of
the Christian faith. However, it is also a source of great debate. Many scholars believe that there is an abundance of evidence supporting an actual,
physical resurrection. Still others believe evidence is found that refutes the idea of a bodily resurrection. For those, evidence of a more metaphorical or
spiritual resurrection is present.
Review of LiteratureMost scholars agree that something did take place after Jesus was crucified. What is generally contested is whether a physical
resurrection, or an actual reanimation of Jesus ' body took place, or whether the resurrection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scholars cite the fact that witnesses recall how Jesus ' body still had the marks where the nails held his hands and feet to the cross as proof that Jesus '
physical body had been resurrected.2 There are numerous witness who saw Jesus ' post–resurrection appearances. Many of the witnesses who were
identified were seen as educated or important, and therefore their testimonies are seen as more credible. Also, the fact that so many people saw
Jesus and interacted with him at the same time leads to the belief that his appearances were physical in nature.3 Most researchers agree that the
followers of Jesus did see something, and the witnesses fully believe that what they saw was the resurrected body of Jesus. However, many
historians hold the belief that these appearances were hallucinations or visions, and were not the actual body of Jesus being seen by these people.4
N.T. Wright suggests the belief system of the followers of Jesus also helped to deepen the idea that Jesus appeared to them in bodily form. This idea
is mirrored by other researchers who state that the culture and context of a situation must be taken into consideration when interpreting an event.5 The
people believed Jesus was the Messiah, and as such could not remain dead. Following a truly dead Savior would mean their system of beliefs had no
meaning. Therefore, he must have been physically resurrected, and

Christian Beliefs After Death
"To the well–organized mind, death is but the next great adventure," (Rowling 297). Death, while inevitable, is still a widely debated topic within
the world. Do humans get to live another life on the same Earth or do humans get to live a life someplace else? Where do our souls go? Does the
good get rewarded and the sinful get punished? Diverse religious beliefs and personal experiences have been the basis for ideas of what happens after
death.
Christianity is the most popular religion in the world with it's beliefs contributing to the most widely known and accepted theory of what happens after
death. Although the beliefs under Christianity differs between Christian groups, majority of Christians believe in the concept of Heaven and Hell. ...

Islam is very similar to Christianity in the sense both hold ideas of Heaven and Hell. However, in Islamic belief, humans are believed to hold a
communication with Islam's Allah, (God in Arabic), with the source of this communication being at the center of our bodies. After death, humans
reside into the Barzakh realm until Judgement Day. Judgement Day is the day in which Muslims, (those who practice Islam) are judged according to
their action in life. The Barzakh realm acts as a resting place which consists of both Heaven and Hell, (Williams, "Near–Death Experiences of
Muslims" 1). Heaven, of course, is where Allah rests, and Hell is where Satan rests. A difference between Christianity's Satan and Islam's Satan is
that Islam's Satan wasn't exactly an angel, but a Jinn. Jinns are like angels except angels from a different world, angels that sin, ("A Scientific
Miracle in the Story of Satan" 1). Also according to Muslim belief, Judgement Day also marks the day of resurrection. Resurrection is the act of
getting to live again and no longer be dead. Everyone is resurrected and then judged by Allah. Islamic faith and Christian faith are quite similar in their
ideas of the after–life in terms of Heaven and Hell and for some Christian groups,

Christian Beliefs In Beowulf
The Beliefs of Beowulf
Beowulf can be referred to as the mother poem of England. The true origin of the poem is unknown. However, it is believed to be written by a monk
around the time of 700 A.D. near the modern–day West Midlands of England. Regardless, the author expresses their knowledge ofChristianity and
paganism throughout the poem. The two beliefs are very different from one another, but the author was able to tie them together to build the story. The
paganism reflects past memories of the beliefs that the people in the land shared. Christianity gives reference to the new beliefs and values the people
were following at the time the poem was written. Even though the author of Beowulf is unknown, he/she has done a well job of expressing the poem
with Christian values, Pagan beliefs, and the conflict between the two. Beowulf refers to Christianity before paganism. The first reference is the "Song
of Creation" found in lines 3–13: "As day after day the music rang/Loud in that hall, the harp's rejoicing/Call and the poet's clear songs, sung/Of the
ancient beginnings of us all, recalling/The Almighty making the earth, shaping/These beautiful plains marked off by oceans,/Then proudly setting the
sun and moon/To glow across the land and light it;/The corners of the earth were made lovely with trees/And leaves, made quick with life, with each
/Of the nations who now move on its face." Many of Hrothgar's men are still pagan, however, he has converted to Christianity. Hrothgar

Christian Beliefs About Euthanasia
Beliefs of Different Religions About Euthanasia
For this essay I have decided to study the two religions Christianity and Buddhism. Buddhism has no major denominations, unlike Christianity, which
has many denominations around the globe. However, I am only going to focus on Christianity as a whole, quoting teachings from the Bible (Old and
New Testament), and then referring to the two major denominations of Anglican and Roman Catholic when their points on euthanasia are absolute. I
have chosen those particular denominations of Christianity because Anglican represents Christianity as a whole, a basis, and Catholicism has some very
strict rules that cannot be ignored.
Firstly, I shall explain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Christians also believe that we are all equal as human beings. Therefore someone who is paralysed in a wheelchair, unable to do anything for
themselves and barely conscious has the same social equality of someone who is perfectly normal. This is because God is benevolent (all–loving) and
so can love everyone the same, regardless of their physical being. So to perform euthanasia on someone in a vegetative state would be morally similar
to performing it on a normal human, simply because human lives are valued by God. Apart from valuing each other's lives, Christians are morally
against euthanasia because they are against killing. "Do not kill" states one of the Ten Commandments, and by committing euthanasia would violate
this rule.
"Euthanasia is a grave violation of the law of God, since it is the deliberate and morally unacceptable killing of a human person." Pope John Paul II:
Evangelium Vitae, 1995. This is a quote using by Roman Catholics, demonstrating their absolute morals on killing. They believe it is completely
unacceptable to kill anyone else, because God said that it was wrong to. Even when Anglicans may be persuaded that euthanasia is the best option for
a person, out of love and compassion for a human, Catholics will not be convinced. They believe that killing of any kind is wrong, no matter what the

The Importance Of Christian Beliefs

Christian beliefs come from many walks of life and many different countries. There are many different views of what it is to become a Christian.
Just a few ways to explain what that means can be prayer. Praying to God in your culture, Faithfulness to God this is described many ways. And
lastly the wrath of God is it a punishment or is it a learning experience that we can share? The world has many different views of God and what it
means to represent him. This is about the many Christians all over the world and how they chose to worship God.
People pray to God for many things that are asked of God one of them is healing the sick. In China, the Chinese ask for healing prayers for their
congregation. Healings are fully expected after their prayers and they expect testimonies of the people who are prayed for to let them know of their
healing. Prayers are usually said by church elders or an ordained pastor. Groups kneel at the altar in prayer murmuring praying for the healing of the
sick. This is seen in countless congregations all over China. Having the people there to pray for being as important as the prayer itself for them.
That is why the Chinese make home visits to pray for the sick. At the meeting, a list is written names of people who are sick and need prayer. These
lists used for home visits for the people that are seriously ill they could be visited on a regular basis until they are healed, or until death occurs.

The world became an endless graveyard with millions of dead Christians strewn wherever they had fallen. Mounds of dead bodies filled every

Christian Beliefs In Beowulf
Beowulf is a legend told since 500 A.D. that originated in Scandinavia. During the 500s time period, many beliefs and values among the Danes and the
Geats were influenced by Anglo–Saxons, the great conquerors at the time. Anglo–Saxons believed in Christian beliefs and some pagan beliefs as well.
Throughout the epic poem, Beowulf, one can gain the knowledge of how the Anglo–Saxons were through literary devices about their religions.
Christian beliefs are that there is one God, who created the world, and many stories behind his power recorded in the bible. The bible helped set the
many different morals of Christianity such as glory, honoring heroes, family, and many more. The Bible also says what is considered evil, such as
greed or murder, which increased in many of the Anglo–Saxons over decades. In Beowulf , these values are being taught through ... Show more content

death. Within every battle scene it is determined prior who will live and who will die. Usually it was that the hero, Beowulf, would live and the fate
of the villain would be death. It was always accepted by Beowulf, even when he was an old man and it was his time to go and "Fought with fate
against him, with glory/ Denied him. He knew it, but he raised his sword/ And struck at the dragon's scaly hide." (ll.669–671). Beowulf the strong

Christian Beliefs Of Christianity
If someone were to ask me the question what are Christian's beliefs and practices, my answer would be, a Christian goal is to have a compassionate
relationship with God and Jesus Christ for our lives today. I believe these are the two most important things to a Christian and their faith. If you can
do these things you're following Christian's beliefs. In 1 Peter 4:16 it says "However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God
that you bear that name." (1 Peter4:16) The verse is saying that you shouldn't be ashamed that you're as Christian because God gave you that
opportunity. There are many ways you cans practice these beliefs such as giving all of your glory to God and Jesus Christ. This important to being a

When we sinned too much we broke one of Gods law. "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness
of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness." (Romans 1:18) Jesus sacrificed himself and took all of our sins on his behalf to stop the
wrath of God. When Jesus Christ sacrificed himself all of our sins were forgiven. In Isaiah 53:5 it says "But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5) Thanks to
Jesus, God has forgiven our sin, and we need to thank him for that. Christians worship Jesus as much as we worship God, because without Jesus
there wouldn't be a human race. We pray to Jesus and show him love for his sacrifice and putting us closer to God. Jesus is a saviors that appeased the
wrath of God. So we need to show compassion and love to Jesus

The Importance Of Christian Beliefs
Everyone is entitled to having their own beliefs. In healthcare, we can have our own beliefs but, we must respect others beliefs and respond
accordingly. There are many religions but, I chose to focus on Christianity. A Christian is someone who believes in the teachings of Jesus Christ. In the
Christian faith, there are many denominations, groups with different views, on what the teachings of Jesus Christ mean. I chose to focus on the two
specific groups who have strong opinions on how they are treated. I am a strong believer in patient education and the patients' right to refuse treatment.
Christian Science In the denomination of Christian science, they strongly believe in the power of prayer. This is a common belief for Christians,
but they take it a step further. For these believers, the best way, sometimes the only way, to be healed is by prayer. You can use aides like crutches
or canes because they aren't changing you. If you are in this culture and you feel that you must go to a doctor, you would have to go to the Christian
science doctor. Most of the time, they will only do this for urgent situations or children that aren't healing fast enough. I am a firm believer in the
power of prayer but, I also believe that medicine is sometimes necessary. As a healthcare provider, I don't imagine that I will ever treat anyone who
believes this way because I wouldn't be able to practice with their doctor. I am sure if they did decide to get medical treatment at a

Beowulf Christian Beliefs
The epic poem of Beowulf is one of the most well known stories in European history. The poem, believed to be first written in 1000 CE, though
probably around at least 300 years older, is a story of a Geatish hero by the name of Beowulf who travels to the Danes to earn valor and heroism for
his name. In the epic there are many examples of what Thomas Hill refers to as "peculiar spiritual atmosphere", this is the combination of both pagan
and Christian beliefs and values in the epic. While many other early medieval texts are either emphatically and militantly Christian or unapologetically
pagan or secular, in their viewpoint Beowulf is neither (Hill 198–199). Beowulf is in fact unlike any other writing of the era and "a presentation of a

They are considered to be Noachites, that is, "gentiles who share the religious heritage and knowledge of Noah and his sons without having access to
the revealed knowledge of God which was granted to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob a tradition culminate by the revelation of the Law to Moses and
continued by the charismatic tradition of prophecy in Israel. Every reference in the poem which touches on religion can be understood in these terms
except for one–lines 179–83 in which the poet apparently condemns Hrothgar and the Danes for idol worship" (Hill 202). The epic holds the values
of Pagan ancestors and their Christian beliefs to be values that should be upheld in their most important traditions. Even if their ancestors weren't
Christian, they still followed their value system. Many of the characters in the epic seem to talk in a monotheistic perspective that the Germanic
warriors of the time would not have used. This shows evidence that the epic was recorded by a monk who held strong Christian values. For example,
after the warriors finished their sea voyage to the Danes, they praised God for giving them safe journey, while the warriors of the time would have
been more likely to praise either Thor or Odin, gods of the religion practiced at the time in that area. Also, the condemnation of idol worship, when
Beowulf condemned the idol worship

Religious Persecution of Christian Beliefs
Religious Persecution of Christian Beliefs What is religious persecution? At the beginning of this project, I thought religious persecution was a black
and white topic with a clear definition. I thought that religious persecution was simply the persecution of a group because of their religious faith.
However, I discovered that there are no simple explanations of religious persecution, and it is a much more complex and controversial issue than I had
imagined. In fact, some events categorized as religious persecution reveal only shades of grey and ambiguities and do not neatly fit this simple
definition. I wanted others to come to this same understanding. Therefore, I have formulated my own definition of religious persecution.... Show more

statement "Persecution of Christians because of their faith is a major problem in the United States." Sixty–one percent of all pastors agreed with this
statement, although just 16% agreed strongly, while the rest agreed somewhat with the statement. Although Republicans (72%), political independents

freedom of speech gives them the right to make these claims publicly. Freedom of religion is not a prize for governments to award

I am hoping this study will bring me new Christian ideas regarding work and life. I need to learn how to let go of the little things and let God be
first in everything I do. My vision after doing this study is having an understanding of the way God can integrate His divine plan in not only one's
job but their entire life. I need a total change in my life, so I am willing to accept the challenge and listen to God. Believing in His word and
staying committed to my goals are of the utmost importance. 2. The word success means many different things to people. Being successful from a
world perspective can mean that you have made it to the top, you are wealthy and you have done everything that you have wanted to do in your life.

The Christian Beliefs Of The Trinity
Throughout this semester I have learned many of the different christian doctrines. Many of them were challenged and also accepted in my weekend trip
throughout Saint Louis. I think one of the most important topics that was discussed during my weekend was the consideration of the Trinity. In the
Christian thought the word "trinity" is a term used to talk about the Christian doctrine that God exists as a unity of three distinct persons: Father, Son,
and Holy Spirit. Three of the staple thoughts include; God is three person; each person is divine; there is only one God. In their relations to one
another, they are stated to be on in all else, co–equal, co–eternal and consubstantial. With these three thoughts about the Trinity you also must
remember that Christianity is a monotheistic religion. When I was visiting the Jewish Synagogue we talked about what their thoughts were on the
trinity and what Mem talked about was you cannot believe in the Trinity and be Jewish. There are many modern Jewish people that have considered
Jesus to be great, or even one of the greatest Jews who ever lived. They have been brought up to believe that God is One, this is an idea that excludes
any idea of God manifesting himself through Jesus. Christians, as well as Jewish people, must believe in One God. The Jewish believe that "echad" in
Hebrew and one in English do mean the same thing and can mean either single unity or compound unity (God as
One). Many of the critics of the trinity see the

way of life and what happens once we die. These needs resulted in the development of a variety of religions and philosophies that can be found
throughout the world today.. However,Christianity which evolved from Judaism, there are certain concepts that these two religions share. For example,

What Are The Key Beliefs Of Christian Religion
Christianity emerged out of the first century C.E.; it is a monotheistic religion meaning it focuses its beliefs and practices around one God.
Christianity is also undoubtedly the most widely practiced religion in the modern world with every country having a group of Christian followers. In
this essay, I will preview and briefly explain the key beliefs, practices, community and what the religion values as sacred or ultimate. For those of
Christian faith, they believe in Jesus Christ who they praise as the son of God sent to forgive humanity for their sins; those who follow Christian faith
often refer to Jesus Christ as our lord and savior. Another feature of Christian belief is that the religion is monotheistic, meaning that its followers...

The followers of Christian faith also believe in what is called the Ten Commandments, also referred to as the Decalogue, given to Jesus Christ and
instructed that he pass on to his followers; these commandments include direct orders from God that all those of Christian faith must follow and
practice. Baptism often referred to as christening is also a practice of Christian faith; with the use of water, or Holy water is water that has been
prayed over and is to be considered sacred, that water is then poured over the head or the individual is submerged in to symbolize the washing away
of sins and the acceptance of Christian faith into one's life and dedication to Jesus Christ. Worship is also a powerful practice in the Christian faith;
attending church and prayer are all features of Christian worship. Holidays celebrated in Christianity are Christmas, which is celebrated on December
twenty–fifth for Western cultures and January seventh for Orthodox Christians; Easter is also a popular Christian holiday celebrated between March
twenty–second and April twenty–fifth. The reasoning behind the odd dates is because Orthodox religions follow the Julian calendar which pre–dates
the Gregorian calendar traditionally followed in Western

My Personal Christian Beliefs
Here at Colorado Christian University, we are all self–proclaimed Christians, but it seems that everyone believes something different whether it be
related to the age of the Earth, if the Bible is infallible or not, or whether things like alcohol are sinful or not. This is no different when we talk about
the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In the next several pages, I will outline my beliefs about the Work of Christ, the Person of Christ, the Holy Spirit, and
the Trinity, as well as back my beliefs on these things with Scripture and other theological writings. Starting off, I believe that Christ came to the Earth
as fully God and fully man and performed miracles, ranging from casting out demons to raising the dead. The main verse that I use to support this
claim is Acts 10:38 which states, "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and
healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him." For me, this verse shows us that it was God who gave Jesus his power, which
he forfeited when He became human, so that Jesus could deliver people and show them the love and power of God. Likewise, this verse is one of
the only verses that explicitly states that Jesus was given His power from God. This must mean that, at some time, Jesus had His power taken from
Him. As I mentioned before, I believe giving away His power was one of the many prices He had to pay to become human, but God gave this power
back to Him at this

Pine Grove Free Christian Ideals And Beliefs
Weapons, such as guns or knives, are not innately evil, but rather serve whatever purpose a person chooses for one. This remains true for more than
just physical tools. Ideals and beliefs have been used throughout the ages to justify actions, good and bad alike. For example, Christianity was used
commonly during the crusades as a justification to slaughter thousands of people for the purpose of reclaiming the 'holy land.' Though this one belief
has been used broadly for negative actions such as that extreme example or even something is frivolous as the picketing of funerals by Westboro
Baptist Church, it has also been used to better the world. The church I belonged to, Pine Grove Free Methodist Church, made its best efforts to assist its
surrounding community by volunteering at the local homeless shelter and running charity events for starving children in Africa. Furthermore,
interpretation and practice truly differentiates the diverse groups within Christianity from their stereotypes. However, to better understand Christianity
and Free Methodist denomination I belonged to, one must understand their foundations and common practices within. Unlike most groups where a
person joins that respective community by choice, an individual is usually either born into Christianity or brought into it through a close friend or
family member. On rare occasions a person seeks out this belief by themselves, usually under the guise of searching for a purpose in their life. In a lot

Christian Beliefs Of Christian Church

  • 1. Christian Beliefs Of Christian Church Over a thousand years ago, a small Catholic parish waited nervously. There were at least a hundred among them. They were openly Christian, Catholic individuals. They waited in the bottom of a Roman stadium, prevented from entering the main ring by a metal gate. On the other side of this gate lurked various vicious animals and gladiators. These Catholic individuals were about to be slaughtered for their faith. They were indeed anxious–loved ones said their final good byes, friends gave one another their final farewells. However anxious, they were ready. They were prepared to unite their suffering to the cross of Jesus Christ. An old man walked up to a young adult who only just converted to Christianity, who then found himself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Catholic Church follows this practice today in remembrance of the abuse of the first Christians, and speaks the same words as a reminder of our own duty to follow Christ wherever he may lead us–even into martyrdom. Examples like these inspire the tepid and challenge the complacent. But no religion can flourish, nor can it provide invaluable sustenance in the form of spiritual nourishment, if it is constantly and consistently oppressed. Religious freedom is essential to the existence of the Catholic Church and any other church for it to perform its proper and full function; no faith can lead individuals to the ultimate wellspring of life–God–without the ability to freely expand and come to such individuals. And even more than that, religious freedom brings, to every nation that protects it, an invaluable character and people that allow a nation to thrive. Religious Freedom diversifies societies, making them more culturally diverse, and thus more economically and politically adaptable and sustainable; substantiates a given nation's moral base, which will prevent cultural regression and degeneration; and encourages individuals to pursue lives of sainthood and righteousness that would otherwise be discouraged and disdained by an oppressive state. On a more secular note, a rich, cultural heritage is what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Christian Beliefs In Beowulf In the Old English poem, Beowulf, many religious beliefs are presented in ambiguous ways throughout the epic. Both biblical and secular elements are exhibited in the story, in which various characters choose to live in the moment and practice pagan practices, while others, like Beowulf, continue to obey God and his teachings for a bright future in the afterlife. Moreover, the most prominent element of religion in this Epic boils down to Christianity, followed by a few Pagan beliefs. Christianity is first introduced in Chapter 1, when Hrothgar builds his hall, "To build a hall that would hold his mighty band and reach higher toward Heaven than anything that had ever been known to the sons of men." (Beowulf, page 5). Hrothgar, the king of the Danes, emphasizes the essentialness of reaching toward heaven, both spiritually and literally, since Heaven is thought to reside beyond the sky. Hrothgar creates an undertone of worship to God just by creating a simple hall in his kingdom. Other references of biblical verses, and praises to God, are emphasized in order for the characters to believe and invest in a supernatural being, who will look after their safety during their time on earth. Others saw God as a being to worship. By doing so, the are to receive riches in return for their loyal behavior. Another example is Heaven being viewed as a place for the characters to attain in the afterlife. As aforementioned, building a hall closer to the heavens in the sky is considered as impressive and creates a sense of nobility for the Danes who built the hall named Herot. Another biblical reference is also included, "Almighty making the Earth, shaping these beautiful planes marked off by the oceans then proudly setting the sun and moon" (Beowulf, page 6). This depicts the time of creation followed by the setting of the sun and moon to glow over the land God created. This piece exemplifies and recounts a time of exuberance and admiration for Danish lands. Appreciation for the land establishes the Anglo–Saxons' gratefulness for the terrain and their resourcefulness in exploiting sources from the land to build halls and homes for their people. However, this feeling is countered by a reference to an actual Bible verse – Genesis ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Ancient Christian Beliefs Ancient Christian beliefs about Death and the Afterlife: Most Romans during this time believed in many different gods and where known as polytheists. Christianity in Rome started as an illegal act of rebellion against the popular belief of more than one god or the gods. Christian believed in one god and that Jesus, a man who was gathering a large following around 30AD, was the son of their one god. The followers of Jesus became known as Christians. Christians spread the word of their God all around, teaching that peoples sins would be forgiven if they became Christian. People all around the empire responded to the idea of Christian salvation. Christianity quickly became the blame for most of Rome's problems due to them turning away from worshiping the gods to worshiping only one, causing emperor of the time Nero to begin persecuting Christians as he believed they were making the gods angry. Many Romans believed that the empire was facing hardship due to the ever expanding group of Christians. Romans of lower social ranking were more likely to convert into a Christian as one of Christianity's key beliefs was that everyone was equal, so a social ranking system was of no ... Bodies of Christians started to be buried in catacombs that where located on land controlled by church. Inside there where wall niches for ashes or floor graves for bodies. There were shafts that allowed light and ventilation inside. The most common way of disposing of the body after death or most commonly practised was inhumation/burial. The body would be lower into a grave, usually on church owned land and covered with soil. The way the body was taken care of after the death and the way it is buried had no relation to what happened to the soul thereafter as it was guaranteed entry to heaven since it was ... • 4. Christian Penance Beliefs The theology of penance came into practice due to Christian having ongoing sinful acts. Once a Christian was baptized and committed a sinful act he / she could undergo either a public or private penance. The public penance was practiced only once a year at Easter or Lent by the Bishop. Christian were afforded the opportunity to have private or secret penance more frequently by a priest is deemed necessary for ongoing sins. According to Lecture II, "this was a therapeutic and preventive act by which Christians could avoid the consequences of sin". Penance was viewed as a practice or sacrament to deal with sin and disease. Sin shapes one's desire and takes on its own shape and this was a way that the Christian could take on some balance. The bishop or priest according article, "read a passage to the Christian, explaining the Fall of man and the penance was to bestowal God's grace. The Christian expressed their sorrow for the sin and the bishop or priest after going through the sacrament of the varies punishment like things that were expected of the person. It could be ... I believe this does bring healing to the sin sick soul of man. Yes, it should be an ongoing practice for the Christian, that we confess daily our sins. I believe that the church should strongly encourage Christian to find someone that they trust to confess their sins to and help hold them in some type of accountability. But, we live in this dispensation of Grace the believer today, just wants to confess to God throughJesus Christ. Now, I don't know about this once a year penance, I think that isn't necessary. I don't think that it matters what type of posture that one has to take on while confessing to one another. Just as long as it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Christian Beliefs I would like to share with you what I, at this point in my life, believe what being a Christian is all about. These beliefs may develop over time as I become closer with christ but at this time, this is what I think being a Christian is all about. I believe God the father created the earth and everything on it for us to live. God the son, Jesus Christ, was sent to earth and made the ultimate sacrifice to forgive us of all sins. And finally, God the Holy Spirit, will always be with us whether we feel him or not. He is here to watch over his children. To me personally, it is important that Jesus Christ died on the cross to forgive us for our sins, not so that it is ok to sin, but to forgive us when we do. In confirmation class we talk about grace ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Personally, I felt closest to God during church camp at Imago Dei because just being surrounded by nature all the time, I realized how beautiful gods creation is. One part of confirmation I will always remember are the youth events, it was cool going out into the community and helping through the church. I was connecting what I was doing to what I was learning about being a Christian. Another part of confirmation I will always remember will be my teachers. Confirmation teachers have always told us stories about events in their life and how it impacted them as Christians, and it made me think more about my life. These stories made me remember how every event that happens has a connection to Christ. Finally, youth group conventions at the hotel in downtown Neenah were always a fun way to connect to Christ and meet new people. I would like to leave you with a bible verse that stuck out to me in the options. It was Romans 8:38–39. It states "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our ... • 6. Christian Beliefs As a Christian school, we must come up with a list of statements that describe who we are and what we believe. As Christians, there are certain doctrines that we believe in like the doctrine of the Bible or the doctrine of the church. From the WCS statement of faith, I chose three statements to interview my pastor about. The first one I choose stated that: "We believe in the present indwelling ministry of the Holy Spirit, whose intercessory and sanctifying work continually renews the Christian and enables him to live a godly life in conformity with the Scripture. (John 14:15–17)" The Holy Spirit is an important aspect of the Christian faith for many reasons and the Pentecost is one of the main ones. The Pentecost is a Christian holiday that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The LGBTQ+ community has been expressing themselves more and more over these past few years and it is good to see a biblical perspective on it. Sodom and Gomorrah is a passage that is often used by Christians to combat homosexuality. Christians often say that Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed= due to the sin that it contained the main one being the gays. This is not entirely true, yes SOdom and Gamosahr was a very very sinful place but it was destroyed because God could not find one righteous person. Genesis 18:22–33 " The men turned away and went toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before the Lord. Then Abraham approached him and said: "Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked? What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare[e] the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it? Far be it from you to do such a thing–to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?" The Lord said, "If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake." Then Abraham spoke up again: "Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, though I am nothing but dust and ashes, what if the number of the righteous is five less than fifty? • 7. Catholic Christian Beliefs On Canonization Johnny Wilkerson Philosophy 210 Sec. 3002 Blakely Hume June 26, 2015 Canonization The Catholic Christians belief on Canonization and the Scripture writings have a difference according to Paul and the letters he wrote. Canonization is a process that is used by the churches to name Saints, the churches have utilized this since the nineteenth century. This has been done over and over for several years. It began with the early church, first martyrs then the public claim did the choosing of these saints; however, this way was thought to be democratic despite the information being distorted and some of it never even existed. They believed in confessing their sins to other people in the hope of being prayed for and healing. These people were thought to be powerful and with a direct connection with God. However, the controversy against this is that there is no scripture in the Bible in support of this point; it is an abomination to pray to the death. Before God, all believers were equal no one is regarded purer than the other and worshiping a dead person or praying to them was a cult (George, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Christian Beliefs About Marriage Christians believe that marriage is a gift from God, one that should not be taken for granted. It is the right atmosphere to engage in sexual relations and to build a family life. Getting married in a church, in front of God, is very important. A marriage is a public declaration of love and commitment. This declaration is made in front of friends and family in a church ceremony. This can help because you have all your family and friends to help you through the hard times. They can also remind you of your vows and help you revisit the meaning of them. Saying the vows is a key part of the service and this can remind you of the love and happiness you once had for each other and revive it. Marriage vows, in the form of "To have and to hold from ... • 9. Christian Beliefs Of The World Charlemagne, was a man raised on Christian beliefs who spent his life waging war on those who were not Christian. Conquered peoples were forced to accept Christianity as their fate or face exile and/or death. This manner of conversion to Christian beliefs completely goes against the teachings of his beloved bible. The hypocrisy of these acts bring one to question his true motivations. Was he really trying to spreadChristianity or was he simply using his Christian crusade as a means to expand his territories using the support of the pope and the Papal States claiming protector? Charlemagne Charlemagne, Charles the Great, Carlos Magnus, Karl der Grosse, the eldest son of Pepin III, was born April 2, 0742 probably in Aachen, Austrasia (now Germany) (Winston, 2015). He was raised in an environment of change from the Franks primarily pagan worship lifestyle to one of Christian beliefs with strong family ties to the popes and missionaries of the times. His great grandfather Clovis, had converted to Christianity under the influence of his Christian wife, and his reign began the family's relationship with the Christian Church (Winston, 2015). Primarily educated by his mother and the monks of Saint Denis in his youth, he spent a great deal of his adult life studying grammar, astronomy, music and the bible (Graves, 2016). • 10. Hamlet Christian Beliefs At the time in which "Hamlet" was written, the Great Reformation was in full force. In England began a gradual movement from strict Catholicism to Protestantism. Shakespeare wrote Hamlet as a Christian tragedy, and consequently, the play is laced with different themes and allegories influenced by Christian beliefs. During the Elizabethan Era, conscience began to affect daily societal roles. People started living in a way that would please their state and their God. They believed that birthright and actions could not determine whether or not a man was spiritually ethical (Terry 1071). "Hamlet" also deals seriously with the idea of conscience and moral contemplation, spurred by the Christian notions of sin. Hamlet is hesitant to enact any kind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Christian Belief Systems : The Humanist And The Christian... According to Schaffer, in America and most of the western world, a growing issue was the belief system. This issue is mainly the growing difference between two different belief systems: The humanist and the Christian beliefs. The main difference between these two systems is the perception of the final reality of existence, which leads to an impossibility for them to coexist as each one contradicts the other in aspects such as abortion, homosexuality, etc. This creates a problematic among government 's identifying with one or the other when interpreting Law. The Christian belief, as we know is based upon a single God, creator of all things and human beings. This one is based upon the bible and constitutes, according to Schaffer the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the main ideas of A Christian Manifesto is to remind the reader that the state is and was always based upon the principles of God being the supreme law. To elaborate this, Schaffer cites several passages from the New Testament in which the difference between Government and God is explained. Government is there to commend the right and punish the wrong, but this power is given to it by the Creator. In other words, Government is still a servant to God, not his equal. "God has appointed the state as a delegated authority; it is not autonomous" (91). This is what was believed in during the American Revolution and what the humanist belief system is trying to leave behind. Conflict comes when, influenced by humanism, government goes against God 's law in its governing. Using tax money for legal abortion clinics is a good example of this. The response Schaffer considers appropriate is, civil disobedience. When considering civil disobedience, the book cites Samuel Rutherford 's Lex Rex when explaining the steps. For a private individual, there are three levels of disobedience, these are protest, flight and force. Protest should be a legal right in contemporary society and it should always be done peacefully. Flight is a way of defense against the state to avoid the use of force. Force should only be used as means of defense and being limited to prevent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Christian Beliefs On Abortion Most Christians believe that the Bible is the word of God. Since they believe this, and since they believe the Bible is true, many Christians take a biblical worldview position on the issue of abortion. Christians value God's commandments in the Bible. They believe the Bible tells them what is right and what is wrong. Since Christians hold the Bible to be their moral standard, that life begins at conception, and that murder is wrong in the Bible, their value judgement is that abortion is morally wrong. They take the moral stance that the Bible has religious authority from God and that they should follow that authority and use it to make decisions on what is right and wrong. The Bible clearly explains that it is morally impermissible to murder someone. The ten commandments, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lastly, Christians believe that their view of children should be consistent with that of Jesus'. Jesus did not believe that babies were inconvenient in any way. For instance, Jesus was preaching and people were bringing their babies to Jesus to be blessed. The disciples sent the parents away because they believed it was an inconvenience to Jesus. However, Jesus rebuked the disciples and welcomed the children (Luke 18: 15–17). This shows that, to Jesus, children were not an inconvenience. Christians believe that since they should model themselves after Jesus, and Jesus did not see children as inconvenient, that it is wrong to get an abortion simply because it may be convenient, which is the main reason people get abortions today. Christians who hold the biblical worldview of abortion believe that abortion is morally wrong because the Bible is given the authority by God to tell them what is right and wrong and from a biblical standpoint, abortion is wrong. Since the bible says that it is wrong to murder, that life begins at conception, that killing the innocent is wrong, and that Christians are supposed to be like Christ, the Biblical worldview stance is that ... • 13. The Theory Of Science And Christian Belief Provided that science still requires repeatable and measurable outcomes, the thought that eukaryotes produced sophisticated human life capable of high functioning individuals when they could not even develop the most basic features is preposterous. Although the previous claim may have been overstepped, there are claims of theistic evolution that offer a logical argument to a personal creation by the Living God. Arguments that God could take inert objects, add a dash of mutation, conceptualize and implement natural selection, and allow this to take course in His time all have the potential to be correct as stand–alones. Diane Bissen is a renowned biologist and theologian; therefore she is as capable as anyone combining these fields into the idea of theistic evolution. In digesting her rather lengthy article in the twenty sixth edition of Science & Christian Belief, I have drawn near to the concept that, individually, the principles of evolution make logical sense, but when compiled together with one or more other principles, they becomes "purposeless" and "mindless." Limiting the Creator to mere man–made principles shows a lack of faith in Him. Even theistic evolutionists agree that God is not subjected to the law of man. • 14. Early Christian Beliefs Initially, communities of early Christian believers were able to choose their own leaders; however, as centuries passed, the practice of having secular rulers choose appoint church leaders became routine. These appointed leaders were eventually able to establish permanent institutions, which not only expressed Christian values, but also drew from many Greco–Roman Traditions. The creation of Nicene Creed and the establishment of the Roman Catholic Church and the Byzantine Christian (Orthodox) Church allowed the Christian church to expand and thrive. Initially, communities of early Christian believers were able to choose their own leaders; however, as centuries passed, the practice of having secular rulers choose appoint church leaders became routine. As the Roman empire was divided up into dioceses, the church followed suit with each dioceses being led by a bishop from their cathedral, who was responsible for their community's preaching, religious teaching, community goods, maintaining orthodox doctrines, and delegating responsibilities for preaching and teaching as needed. Some would say that they are different because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–day Saints is a cult. There has been great debate about whether or not the LDS church is a cult or part of the Christian religion. People believe that Mormonism is a cult, mostly because of the very different theology between The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–day Saints and biblical teachings. Mormonism holds authority to The Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price, and parts of the Bible that do not contradict Mormon doctrine (Cultwatch.com). • 17. Christian Beliefs Of The Trinity A cornerstone teaching of many Christian beliefs is that of the Trinity. It is also a debated and misunderstood concept. Besides being just outright refuted, there are a couple of ways in which the Trinity is misunderstood. These misunderstandings can relate to other religions which a person may be more familiar with, or might believe. God as the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit is a difficult concept to embrace fully but is not much unlike the concept of understanding an omniscient and omnipotent being that exists before during and after time. There are several explanations that help our human brains comprehend the concept and differentiate the Trinity from other religions. Two common religions view the Trinity as three gods such as Paganism or is one God that reveals himself in three different forms or persons such as Monism. An individual with a Pagan view might see the Trinity as three gods. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as separate and different but related gods with the same purpose. This would be a similar view similar a few that of the Greeks with their many different God of the Pantheon. A person looking at the Trinity with a background in something like Hinduism, might see the mentioning of the Trinity and related back to their beliefs or knowledge. Hindu might see the Father as one God while the Son is a manifestation of the father but not a true God. The same could be seen for the Holy Spirit. Just as it would be unthinkable for a U.S. Supreme Court judge to say, "The constitution says all Americans should have the freedom of speech, but disagree!"4 So it would be unthinkable for a Christian to deny the teaching of Scripture. To be faithful to Christian doctrine one must be faithful to Scripture. The ultimate source and norm would be for all Christian faith and practice through Jesus Christ himself. I have found that these conversations can turn negative very quickly without grace and love, for everyone is on journey, specifically the individuals I live life with that are experiencing homelessness and displacement. I do my best to be sensitive to everyone's current understanding of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. I find that when I am interacting and discussing aspects of my Christian Beliefs I tend to highlight "The Apostles Creed." However my belief system is in no shape or form limited to just that. God 's redeeming love is active to save sinners through Jesus ' incarnate life and teachings, through his atoning death, his resurrection, his sovereign presence through history, and his promised return. 4)Sanctification. The grace of sanctification draws one toward the gift of Christian perfection, which Wesley described as a heart "habitually filled with the love of God and neighbor" and as "having the mind of Christ and walking as he walked." 5)Sacraments. Your beliefs as a Christian including your understanding of God, the person and work of Jesus Christ, humanity and the need for divine grace, and the role of the sacraments in the life of faith. In general, my beliefs as a Christian stem from what Jesus identified as the most important commandment, "The first is, 'Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; 30 you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.' 31 The second is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." While my beliefs at time are broad and at other times very concentrated, I aim to center them through my love towards God and towards other people. William Willmon has said, "we do no good work in the world that is not subsequent to and responsive to the work that a creative God is already doing." By understanding of God is that God is acting in our lives long before we recognize God. Go dis continually creating, redeeming, and sustaining us within. I also believe God to be a Trinitarian mystery where the three persons of the Father, Son, andHoly Spirit are one being in God. My understanding of God is also based on the grace that God offers and the power of this grace at work in the world. Understanding grace allows for us to see the love that God offers the world which God created. Grace is the love that we receive in our own relationship with God. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Moganism And The Christian Beliefs Of Christianity And... Throughout antiquity, religion has occupied itself with a major role in man's life. From the time of Adam through the present, man has ventured in countless directions to discover resolution and the reason for life. Man has never believed, agreed, or participated in a correct manner; conversely, the search for a truth has prevailed throughout time. Consequently, paganism has captured a large portion of the religious scene in the search for a truth, but the Christian church joined the debate to demonstrate "what is the truth." The church accomplished this, with numerous trials, by defining and defending the Christian worldview demonstrated by creeds, and with scripture. While paganism is rapidly growing and influencing our American society today, we should engage it the same as the early church because the biblical worldview and scripture are ageless and unchanging. The early theologians were leaders of a Christian audience who came to be known as the "apostolic fathers"–some were men believed to have known an apostle and were trusted as being reliable and truthful teachers. Many of these apostolic fathers fought for the faith up to their deaths as martyrs. According to Roger Olson, they created Christian theology by protecting the faith; they came to be that bridge between "Christian thinkers who argue the faith reasonably and even philosophically, and Christian thinkers who saw doing so as a dangerous endeavor." However, many historians hold the belief that these appearances were hallucinations or visions, and were not the actual body of Jesus being seen by these people.4 N.T. Wright suggests the belief system of the followers of Jesus also helped to deepen the idea that Jesus appeared to them in bodily form. This idea is mirrored by other researchers who state that the culture and context of a situation must be taken into consideration when interpreting an event.5 The people believed Jesus was the Messiah, and as such could not remain dead. However, it is believed to be written by a monk around the time of 700 A.D. near the modern–day West Midlands of England. Regardless, the author expresses their knowledge ofChristianity and paganism throughout the poem. The two beliefs are very different from one another, but the author was able to tie them together to build the story. The paganism reflects past memories of the beliefs that the people in the land shared. Christianity gives reference to the new beliefs and values the people were following at the time the poem was written. Healings are fully expected after their prayers and they expect testimonies of the people who are prayed for to let them know of their healing. Prayers are usually said by church elders or an ordained pastor. Groups kneel at the altar in prayer murmuring praying for the healing of the sick. This is seen in countless congregations all over China. Having the people there to pray for being as important as the prayer itself for them. That is why the Chinese make home visits to pray for the sick. At the meeting, a list is written names of people who are sick and need prayer. The poem, believed to be first written in 1000 CE, though probably around at least 300 years older, is a story of a Geatish hero by the name of Beowulf who travels to the Danes to earn valor and heroism for his name. In the epic there are many examples of what Thomas Hill refers to as "peculiar spiritual atmosphere", this is the combination of both pagan and Christian beliefs and values in the epic. While many other early medieval texts are either emphatically and militantly Christian or unapologetically pagan or secular, in their viewpoint Beowulf is neither (Hill 198–199). Every reference in the poem which touches on religion can be understood in these terms except for one–lines 179–83 in which the poet apparently condemns Hrothgar and the Danes for idol worship" (Hill 202). The epic holds the values of Pagan ancestors and their Christian beliefs to be values that should be upheld in their most important traditions. Even if their ancestors weren't Christian, they still followed their value system. Many of the characters in the epic seem to talk in a monotheistic perspective that the Germanic warriors of the time would not have used. This shows evidence that the epic was recorded by a monk who held strong Christian values. For example, after the warriors finished their sea voyage to the Danes, they praised God for giving them safe journey, while the warriors of the time would have been more likely to praise either Thor or Odin, gods of the religion practiced at the time in that area. • 34. Christian Retirement Beliefs 1. After reading the introduction, my thoughts about my retirement began to flood my mind. I had never really considered what the retirement ceremony would be like, who would be there or even who would be the key note speaker. I am half way to my retirement and currently going through a life struggle that I will only be able overcome with God's love. I am hoping this study will bring me new Christian ideas regarding work and life. I need to learn how to let go of the little things and let God be first in everything I do. My vision after doing this study is having an understanding of the way God can integrate His divine plan in not only one's job but their entire life. I need a total change in my life, so I am willing to accept the challenge and listen to God. Believing in His word and staying committed to my goals are of the utmost importance. 2. The word success means many different things to people. Being successful from a world perspective can mean that you have made it to the top, you are wealthy and you have done everything that you have wanted to do in your life. However, if you look at success from God's perspective things are very different. In His plan success can mean learning to have a fruitful life with Him being the master, being blessed with a family that loves you or knowing in your heart on the ... I do not like to let go of the control I have and I have a little obsessive compulsive disorder when it comes to work. I feel that this is because of being in the military. I am a true type A personality, which unfortunately is what most of our military members are. With Church and family, I can and will learn to let go and place God first. It is a constant struggle, but prayer keeps me on the right ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Christian Beliefs Of The Trinity Throughout this semester I have learned many of the different christian doctrines. Many of them were challenged and also accepted in my weekend trip throughout Saint Louis. I think one of the most important topics that was discussed during my weekend was the consideration of the Trinity. In the Christian thought the word "trinity" is a term used to talk about the Christian doctrine that God exists as a unity of three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Three of the staple thoughts include; God is three person; each person is divine; there is only one God. In their relations to one another, they are stated to be on in all else, co–equal, co–eternal and consubstantial. With these three thoughts about the Trinity you also must remember that Christianity is a monotheistic religion. When I was visiting the Jewish Synagogue we talked about what their thoughts were on the trinity and what Mem talked about was you cannot believe in the Trinity and be Jewish. There are many modern Jewish people that have considered Jesus to be great, or even one of the greatest Jews who ever lived. They have been brought up to believe that God is One, this is an idea that excludes any idea of God manifesting himself through Jesus. Christians, as well as Jewish people, must believe in One God. The Jewish believe that "echad" in Hebrew and one in English do mean the same thing and can mean either single unity or compound unity (God as One). Many of the critics of the trinity see the ... • 36. Christian Belief System Belief systems is in some way apart of one's religion form or other has been an essential element in the life and culture of humankind throughout the ages, going back far beyond the threshold of history. As a Christian I have always expressed a need to understand natural phenomenon regarding the way of life and what happens once we die. These needs resulted in the development of a variety of religions and philosophies that can be found throughout the world today.. However,Christianity which evolved from Judaism, there are certain concepts that these two religions share. For example, both Jews and Christians subscribe to the Ten Commandments found in the Book of Exodus. In addition, prophecies of Jewish prophets contained in several books of the Old Testament stated thatGod would send a savior, or messiah, to the people of Israel. While Judaism clearly states that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no underlying belief structure for most people, just a bunch of random opinions. In fact, many simply answer survey questions as though they are flipping a coin.Though some political sophisticates do structure their opinions in a larger ideological framework, such structure is rare. This level of political sophistication (one's "level of conceptualization") is correlated positively with the respondent's level of education, degree of political involvement, and amount of political information. Most people do not have strong belief systems; that is, they do not think ideologically. Most people do not interpret politics through an ideological lens. I have always observe and was curious about the religion Islam which translated from Arabic mean to submit to the will of allah, is the youngest of the world's major religions. Under Mohammed's leadership, the basic teachings of Islam were established, which are known as the Five Pillars of Islam. • 37. What Are The Key Beliefs Of Christian Religion Christianity emerged out of the first century C.E.; it is a monotheistic religion meaning it focuses its beliefs and practices around one God. Christianity is also undoubtedly the most widely practiced religion in the modern world with every country having a group of Christian followers. In this essay, I will preview and briefly explain the key beliefs, practices, community and what the religion values as sacred or ultimate. For those of Christian faith, they believe in Jesus Christ who they praise as the son of God sent to forgive humanity for their sins; those who follow Christian faith often refer to Jesus Christ as our lord and savior. Another feature of Christian belief is that the religion is monotheistic, meaning that its followers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The followers of Christian faith also believe in what is called the Ten Commandments, also referred to as the Decalogue, given to Jesus Christ and instructed that he pass on to his followers; these commandments include direct orders from God that all those of Christian faith must follow and practice. Baptism often referred to as christening is also a practice of Christian faith; with the use of water, or Holy water is water that has been prayed over and is to be considered sacred, that water is then poured over the head or the individual is submerged in to symbolize the washing away of sins and the acceptance of Christian faith into one's life and dedication to Jesus Christ. Worship is also a powerful practice in the Christian faith; attending church and prayer are all features of Christian worship. Holidays celebrated in Christianity are Christmas, which is celebrated on December twenty–fifth for Western cultures and January seventh for Orthodox Christians; Easter is also a popular Christian holiday celebrated between March twenty–second and April twenty–fifth. The reasoning behind the odd dates is because Orthodox religions follow the Julian calendar which pre–dates the Gregorian calendar traditionally followed in Western ... • 38. My Personal Christian Beliefs Here at Colorado Christian University, we are all self–proclaimed Christians, but it seems that everyone believes something different whether it be related to the age of the Earth, if the Bible is infallible or not, or whether things like alcohol are sinful or not. This is no different when we talk about the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In the next several pages, I will outline my beliefs about the Work of Christ, the Person of Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the Trinity, as well as back my beliefs on these things with Scripture and other theological writings. Starting off, I believe that Christ came to the Earth as fully God and fully man and performed miracles, ranging from casting out demons to raising the dead. The main verse that I use to support this claim is Acts 10:38 which states, "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him." For me, this verse shows us that it was God who gave Jesus his power, which he forfeited when He became human, so that Jesus could deliver people and show them the love and power of God. Likewise, this verse is one of the only verses that explicitly states that Jesus was given His power from God. This must mean that, at some time, Jesus had His power taken from Him. As I mentioned before, I believe giving away His power was one of the many prices He had to pay to become human, but God gave this power back to Him at this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Pine Grove Free Christian Ideals And Beliefs Weapons, such as guns or knives, are not innately evil, but rather serve whatever purpose a person chooses for one. This remains true for more than just physical tools. Ideals and beliefs have been used throughout the ages to justify actions, good and bad alike. For example, Christianity was used commonly during the crusades as a justification to slaughter thousands of people for the purpose of reclaiming the 'holy land.' Though this one belief has been used broadly for negative actions such as that extreme example or even something is frivolous as the picketing of funerals by Westboro Baptist Church, it has also been used to better the world. The church I belonged to, Pine Grove Free Methodist Church, made its best efforts to assist its surrounding community by volunteering at the local homeless shelter and running charity events for starving children in Africa. Furthermore, interpretation and practice truly differentiates the diverse groups within Christianity from their stereotypes. However, to better understand Christianity and Free Methodist denomination I belonged to, one must understand their foundations and common practices within. Unlike most groups where a person joins that respective community by choice, an individual is usually either born into Christianity or brought into it through a close friend or family member. On rare occasions a person seeks out this belief by themselves, usually under the guise of searching for a purpose in their life. In a lot of ways ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
