1. What’s the Problem?
34 million adults in America would have trouble
reading this statement.
Sadly, this statistic is not improving much with the next generation. In fact,
one in three young adults will not graduate from high school this year, and
those that do graduate are not necessarily equipped with the reading and
writing skills that they need to achieve success in a career or higher
education. Low literacy rates produce a feeling of detachment from one's
community. Crime, unemployment, poverty, and other serious social
problems result.
2. The good news is, we can change these statistics!
The Kid Scoop News publication was founded on the belief that supplying
students with a fun and engaging learning resource at a young age
ultimately produces literate, socially responsible citizens who are active in
their communities. Our programs use kid-friendly materials to encourage
student writing, initiate greater civic participation, and promote awareness of
local, national, and international news.
What’s the solution?
3. Our Mission
For Children:
To celebrate and encourage reading and learning for elementary students in order to
build a solid academic foundation for our children, our future leaders and workforce.
For Communities:
To educate young people about the issues that confront their communities, and thus
inspire greater civic awareness, engagement, and citizenship.
What’s the Solution?
Be a Community Partner and participate in the Kid Scoop News publication for
local students, teachers and parents.
