Globalization can increase or decrease income inequality within countries over time. In the UK, income inequality as measured by the Gini coefficient has increased from 0.27 in 1980 to 0.35 in 2010. Globalization has also exported pollution to developing countries, resulting in high levels of industrial smog in places like China and India. New policies have been introduced, such as restricting cars in New Delhi on certain days, to address environmental impacts.
