I interviewed my mother who is 73 years old and has lived through many things (good and bad). I
sat and asked her what her favorite childhood memory was? She lived a life of poverty that just
about anything that didn't have to do with helping out around the house, with her siblings, or her
parents were gratifying. However, this is one story that I have heard from her countless times. Her
favorite childhood memory was going to school and being asked to sing in front of the classroom.

How Music Changed My Life One of my earliest memories from my childhood involves music. I
was only five or six and me and my brother would be coming home from pre–school and daycare.
My mom would ask us what we wanted to listen to and we would both yell back "Our CD!" My

Session one was an introductory session. Janine King was my counselor and introduced her
techniques and her journey of becoming a counselor. I shared my counseling journey, my academic
goals, and the areas that I wanted to discuss. The session ended by mapping out a schedule of
counseling sessions to fulfill academic requirements and prayer. In session two, Janine went over
my MMPI results with me and inquired about my life story. It was interesting to learn that Janine's

Class, After reading both articles I am going to be giving my thoughts on "Androgynous Man" by
Noel Perrin, pg. 242–243. Are the sentences long, short, poetic, or matter of fact? In comparison to
"Once more to the lake", I found the sentences in "Androgynous Man" to be short and easy for me
to understand. The sentences in "Androgynous Man", while easier to understand were not nearly as
descriptive or informative as sentences in "Once more to the lake". Is the author successful in
creating an interesting or moving piece about the memory? In my opinion, Perrin, was not
successful at bringing the memories of his story to life. While the story itself was well written, in
my opinion it did not paint a vivid picture of how Perrin recalled his childhood.

My eyes open and I peel the covers off me and my warm pajamas, flick the lights on in my room,
forgetting to look at the clock before I unlatch the door and I tiptoe down the hall to Harrison's
room. He is up and is sitting upright in his bed. I happen to see the clock and it is only 5:00 am.
Why did Christmas morning feel to move so slow? I knew my parents wouldn't be up this early, so I
told Harrison we should go back to bed, but I realize I just couldn't fall asleep with so much
anticipation. What did Santa bring this year? I toss and turned, and thought that it must have been

In this week's lesson, we were told to pick between two articles in our textbook, provide our favorite
sentence and analyze the author's method, he or she used to portray a particular memory during
childhood. I found this week's lesson to be both intellectual and intriguing in the sense of opening
my mind to the ideas or beliefs of another individual. The world is made up of millions of people,
and no two individuals are the same in how they reflect or portray numerous events during their
lives. After reading both articles, one stood out more than the other. The article that I found most
fascinating was "Androgynous Man," by Noel Perrin.
The author Noel Perrin used a compelling method in his portrayal of his childhood memories
throughout his life. He used these memories to help him decipher what it meant to be an
androgynous man. Then he applied this knowledge to himself throughout his life. As a result, he
provided his understanding of what he feels it is and his opinion on androgyny. I noticed in his
article that he uses short sentences to get his point across. This method to me makes his writing
specific and direct to the point. In doing so, this eliminates the reader's ability to wonder or

The first counseling session was an introductory time for me and Counselor, Janine King to become
acquainted. Janine introduced her techniques and her journey to becoming a counselor. I shared my
counseling journey, my academic goals, and the areas that I wanted to focus on during the ten
weeks. The session ended by creating a road map of the areas in my life that might be explored. In
session two, Janine went over my MMPI results and inquired about my life story. It was interesting
to learn that Janine's MMPI results were similar to mine. Janine encouraged me to view the results
with an open mind and use the new information to propel growth in my life. I spent the rest of the
session sharing my life story, and secrets about my past that had never been shared before. The
session closed with reflection and prayer. The third session I was introduced to an exercise called
Safe Place, as well as The Six R's Script. The Six R's are: recognizing my sin, repenting of the sin,
receiving freedom, realigning with God, and rejoicing in the healing and freedom I received. I

his birthday from his parents when he was about 4 years old. During his birth, his father was out of
the country for business thus his uncle had offered to take care of his brother's pregnant wife while
he was away on business. Therefore, M.G was named after his uncle as the family's gesture of
appreciation for his kindness. The interviewee had a number of childhood memories, but claimed
