Examples Of Childhood Memories
The topic is based on childhood memories. In childhood we are not limited by reality. Childhood's
attractive and positive moments and things have been chosen to depict through the paintings. All the
favorite memories are recalled and transferred in the present work in visual form. It seems like a
college of all things related to the childhood. The mind has various memories of the early life but
the thesis focuses on the precious ones that always pop up in the mind and makes the artist feel
comfort and pleasure. In addition to the recollection of memories, the paintings also have the text
written by the kids of the same age as that of the memories. Memories follow you anytime

Her works are focused on children, girls, pets and women. . Her paintings show innocence of
childhood, reflects different relationships like mother and daughter Lucy Campbell is a ......... her

myth and fairy tales. Her art always evokes delicate memories of childhood, of something loved,
lived or lost. Rome–based Russian artist Ekaterina Panikanova uses open–faced books, carefully
aligned with one another, as a large canvas for his memories each of her paintings in a series titled
"Errata Corrige." Using old books and various antiquated texts, Panikanova proceeds to apply her
dark markings across the multiple volumes of published words and images. Like a hidden message
or puzzle, her works are applied across unspecified pages on each book. Furthermore, with some of
her paintings (which are more like installations), there is a puzzling three–dimensionality to them as
the pages are not bound down. Instead, they flow freely and add not only layers, but also a sense of
texture to the piece.

The Spicy Hot Pot In Walk Two Moons By Sharon Creech
The Spicy Hot Pot An American marine biologist, Rachel Carson states, "For the sense of smell,
almost more than any other, has the power to recall memories...". Research shows that in order to
remember anything, the fives senses must pick up our experiences. Smell is one of the most
effective senses that reminds us of past experiences. The reason for that it is because the olfactory
part of the brain which processes smells are go through the part of the brain that is connected to the
amygdala and the hippocampus where memory and emotions are processed. In the book, Walk Two
Moons, by Sharon Creech, the main character, Sal, is eating blackberry pies. The blackberry pies
triggers Sal's memory of picking blackberries with her mother, which sparks ... Show more content

I like the spicy soup, but more specifically, the spicy smell of the hot pot that will stick to my
clothes and the room for days. The strong spicy smell was permeating the room as it took me back
to the summer when I was in China eating the same hot pot with my father. That night the table was
filled with shrimp, lamb, beef, fishy meatballs, potatoes and cabbage. I was sitting across from my
father waiting for the spicy soup to boil. This was my last meal in China. The next morning, I would
be heading to Los Angles and without seeing my dad for four years. The soup was warm and
comforting, but the air around me felt cold and depressing. Finally, the soup started to boil. My dad
began to place all the meats into the soup. The air was getting colder, even though the soup was still
boiling. I felt wet drops of water on my cheeks. I put my head down. "Are you ok?", my dad asked.
"Yea, yea, don't worry, its just the soup is too spicy." I answered. Suddenly, I was at home in Irvine
looking across the table at my brother playing on the IPad. My father was no where to be seen and
the apartment was quiet. Currently, the smell of the hot pot has become symbolic of my connection
to my father. Recently, my friend and I drove an hour in horrible traffic to LA in search of the same
hot pot that I had eaten in China. It was almost as good as the one I had eaten in

Meaningful Song Let's Get It Started By Skillet
Meaningful Song
Everyone in the world listens to music, no matter what genre it is. We all have our own certain
preference. Certain songs we listen to can bring back a memory from our past. The memory can be
happy or sad. The two songs that are my most favorite are "Let's Get It Started" by the Black Eyed
Peas, and "American Noise" by Skillet. These songs bring back very special memories from my
childhood. My first memory, come from the song "Let's Get It Started." My memory starts out when
I was in third grade. We always had a Valentine's Day dance. My friends as well as I would always
have an exciting time dancing and singing. Our school secretary would make sure to play the most
popular songs of that time or songs that were not too old. She played this specific song, just
listening to it, it had become my favorite song that I had ever heard that whole night at the dance.
Whenever I would listen to this song I would always remember that exhilarating night I had with
my friends. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They trigger two happy memories that I would love to relive. The meaning behind the song "Let's
Get It Started" is when the band wants to start a party; they want to have fun all night long, just like
how my friends along with myself were when we were at the dance. The last song, "American
Noise", brings a lot of sentimental value to me. I think it means that no one should be afraid to live
their life, to love people, and be positive about the life you live. To conclude my thoughts and
opinions, everyone can listen to any kind of music. Music can cause you to remember a memory
from your past. Listening to that can trigger the memory because you listened to that exact song on
that day you had the event. You remember that memory because the song helped you to remember.
Music is amazing, from the top ten hits of today, all the way to music from the 70's. No matter what
you like to listen to music can give us strong emotions no matter

Disney Princess Stereotypes
In a far far Kingdom, there lived a lovely little girl who would spend hours in front of the TV
watching all her favorite movies and shows. Particularly her favorite princess movie Snow White.
Childhood; this is one simple word which brings a thousands of memories to one's mind. One of the
beauties with just hearing the phrase still brings a smile to most of our faces. Something that has not
yet left us and still plays a part in our hearts and lives till this very day.

Through the discussion of gender roles portrayed through the Disney princes and princesses, I hope
not only to gain an understanding of the effects of the characters within young children and their
development through their childhood, but to also investigate what makes young children idolize
these characters.
In order to undergo this study, both primary and secondary research will be conducted in order to
obtain information for the foundation of my personal interest project. Through the use of
questionnaires and secondary data I will be able to establish the general stereotypes and prejudices
within the Disney princess movies and the feminists views upon the films. Secondary data will
allow me to closely analyze all of the Disney princess films and will allow me to outline the
changing aspect of gender roles in regards to recent Disney films.
The changing gender roles of women in Disney films can be linked through the key concepts of
continuity and change, values, traditions and identity through various parts of the society and culture
syllabus in order to form a complete understanding of how the changing gender roles have been
portrayed. In addition to the topic of popular culture the idea of globalization will also be

I Lost My Baby Girl: Larrie's Life
"I lost my baby girl." Losing her daughter due to heart failure was one of the most difficult things
Larrie had to go through at just 28 years old.
Larrierayne Ruth Anissa Nayshell Romine was born on June 14th, 1973, in Montrose, Alabama.
This was also the day that the World Trade Center was officially named the tallest building in New
York. In Larrie's early childhood she had many animals that she grew up with including a raccoon, a
possum, a skunk, lots of dogs, cats, birds, and fish. As a child, Larrie's favorite game to play was
Hide N' Seek with her friends. She also played softball throughout her entire childhood, so
practicing for upcoming games was normally what she did in her free time. Larrie had a different
fear than most kids; "I never had a mother, so I always thought my dad would leave one day too."
Although she had a rather difficult childhood growing up, Larrie also had some great memories as a
teen that she still remembers to this day. One of her favorite memories is when her and her friends

The definition of communication varies when it comes to the situation. Communication can be
derived from a conversation amongst one another or communication can lead to an interview (for a
job, a case, or to obtain information). "Human communication is the way in which humans
exchange meaningful ideas with one another" (Justak, 2014). Communication is the first instrument
that humans used in their process to socialize, interact with others can be defined as the process of

I interviewed my mother who is 73 years old and has lived through many things (good and bad). I
sat and asked her what her favorite childhood memory was? She lived a life of poverty that just
about anything that didn't have to do with helping out around the house, with her siblings, or her
parents were gratifying. However, this is one story that I have heard from her countless times. Her
favorite childhood memory was going to school and being asked to sing in front of the classroom.
The feeling that nothing mattered in the world that money couldn't even compare to this emotion.
Though too many school isn't exciting because we are obligated to go, but to her it was a privilege
to attend school since back in those days not many children could attend school because there was a
higher demand to help at home that education wasn't an option. As she recounted this story I noticed
a face of mixed emotions. Her expressions and her voice would have happiness in them yet they
also had sad emotions.
Gathering stories from two different individuals with a big age gap consisted of several issues. My
daughter would pause during her story to try to remember what exactly happened. The voice
intonation and body language would at times lead me to believe she could possibly be lying about
some of the things that happened (Justak, 2014). Their where pieces of the story that she couldn't

How Music Changed My Life
How Music Changed My Life One of my earliest memories from my childhood involves music. I
was only five or six and me and my brother would be coming home from pre–school and daycare.
My mom would ask us what we wanted to listen to and we would both yell back "Our CD!" My
mother would laugh and proceed to play a Beethoven CD she kept in the center console of the car.
This memory has stuck with me since I was a kid. It has played a major role in my development and
was the beginning of my growing passion for music. Since that memory many others followed; all
involving music and its impact on me. Particularly, is music's impact on me during sports as a
motivator. For example, one memory I have is from our most important competition "Cheersport." It
was a three–day competition in Atlanta, Georgia and we were all excited. At our first practice the
night before the actual completion, we were dropping stunts, bumping in to each other during
transitions, and our pyramid kept falling. We had lost our motivation for the next day and we were
crumbling as a team. The day of the competition was hectic and wasn't any better than the previous
night. We began fighting and blaming each other for why the pyramid kept falling. However, when
we stepped out onto the stage it all melted away. The bright lights shined down on us as we lowered
our heads and squeezed our hands to our sides. Then the music began and we all forgot the fighting
and instead worked together. The music seemed to have a

Graduation Speech : My Favorite School
When I look back and think about my childhood; I feel like I had a pretty great one. I was lucky
enough that had parents who could afford to send me to a private Christian school K–8th grade. This
was a very small school with grades that were combined. This meant that the teacher was always
coming up with ideas to make the work applicable to both grades. This was beneficial to me because
I have always loved a challenge. If my grade level work was not challenging enough for me, often I
would be allowed to work on the grade above mines work as well. This helped me grow and
critically think at a young age and gave me a passion for learning. One of my favorite school

Grandma's house was another one of my highlights of my childhood. I spent a significant amount of
time at grandma's house. We would bake, read, play games, and go out places, but one of my
favorite things would be making a Christmas dress with grandma each year. I still make a dress with
her each year. We started this tradition when I was in the 4th grade. I have learned so much about
patients and that not everything in life is easy while with grandma. I cherish all the time that I get to
spend with her because she is a major component as to the young lady I am today.
I have many people who influence me in my life, but the person who influences me the most is my
Grandma Sandy. I have always been close with my grandma. She has always pushed me to be the
best person I could be. If she ever saw me not putting in 100% effort in something she would tell me
to evaluate myself and what I was doing. She was always the first person to be there to support me
with things at school, things at dance, and other events in life. The fact that I spent lots of time with
her when I was growing up probably influenced this a lot. She also lives very close to parent's
business so whenever I had a day off of school or just wanted to see grandma after school I would
walk there.

"How Reading Changed My Life" is the book from where the piece of fragment that we read was

strongly agree with her. Although children have more extra time to read their favorite books over
and over again, adults were children and if they liked to re–read books in the past because the book
was in their interest, they will also reread their favorite novel in the present. In the book, Quindlen
disagrees with Katherine Paterson, author of the book "Bridge to Terabithia". Beforehand, Katherine

Reflection Paper On Counselling
Session one was an introductory session. Janine King was my counselor and introduced her
techniques and her journey of becoming a counselor. I shared my counseling journey, my academic
goals, and the areas that I wanted to discuss. The session ended by mapping out a schedule of
counseling sessions to fulfill academic requirements and prayer. In session two, Janine went over
my MMPI results with me and inquired about my life story. It was interesting to learn that Janine's
MMPI results were similar to mine. Janine encouraged me to view the results with an open mind
and use the new information to propel growth in my life. I spent the rest of the session sharing my
life story, and I found myself sharing secrets I had never shared with others before. The session
closed with reflection and prayer. The third session I was introduced to an exercise called "Safe

repenting, receiving, realignment, and rejoicing. There were a few things that came up during my
story that I had not repented of; walking through the Six R's really assisted me through the
repentance and healing process. We then ended with Safe Place prayer, which was a time to rest in

Dinner At The Homesick Restaurant Chapter Summary
Anne Tyler, in her novel Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant, tells the story of a struggling family in
Baltimore, Maryland who suffers a series of loss, bewilderment, and utter disconnect from each
other in order to show that family is the thing that shapes an individual into the person they become
with their family; to show that memories control a being. Through her third person, omniscient
point of view, Tyler emphasizes that each family member has a different kind of family of his or her
own. As the story is told, Tyler maintains a consistent narrator by keeping it the same while
changing focus among the main characters of the novel: Pearl, Cody, Ezra, Jenny, Luke, and Beck.
Anne Tyler does this to develop the story in an unbiased way, which ... Show more content on

Because Tyler chose to write this novel in a third person point of view, she was able to show her
characters in an open way making them easier to relate to and understand as they become their own
selves and establish independence through branching their family off into little families of their
own. Her establishment of a single narrator telling the memories of each family member accentuates
the significance of memory in the development of the independence of each character. With
emphasizing this importance of memory, Tyler shows how the development of her storyline is
completely dependent on the past experience of her characters. Because of this, the narrator shows
both moments from each character's past and their present lives. Anne Tyler creates a novel that is
unpredictable by having characters that exhibit atypical lives due to their pasts. Anne Tyler's novel is
one of family dynamics from a damaged household that shows a person is molded by the memories

Androgynous Man By Noel Perrin
Class, After reading both articles I am going to be giving my thoughts on "Androgynous Man" by
Noel Perrin, pg. 242–243. Are the sentences long, short, poetic, or matter of fact? In comparison to
"Once more to the lake", I found the sentences in "Androgynous Man" to be short and easy for me
to understand. The sentences in "Androgynous Man", while easier to understand were not nearly as
descriptive or informative as sentences in "Once more to the lake". Is the author successful in
creating an interesting or moving piece about the memory? In my opinion, Perrin, was not
successful at bringing the memories of his story to life. While the story itself was well written, in
my opinion it did not paint a vivid picture of how Perrin recalled his childhood.

The Negative Effects Of Adulthood In Childhood
For most of the population of the world, childhood is filled with countless invaluable memories.
There are ordinary events such as attending numerous friends birthday parties or hoping for as many
snow days as possible. One may remember specific memories, in particular attending a local
carnival or the day they received their favorite stuffed animal. For a smaller portion of the
population, childhood is tainted by memories of an emotionally and/or physically abusive parent. As
troubling as those memories can be, experience in dealing with such adversity might be useful as
one venture into adulthood. Adults who have experienced significant childhood stress might display
a hostile personality, meaning they distinguish a threat in situations that others view as normal. It's
suggested that the script can be overturned, or at least altered. Recent studies have shown that
individuals who have chaotic childhoods, exhibit an increased ability to observe and monitor threats
and remember negative events. Thus allowing the adult to gain a new perspective on life. One can
assume, under the right conditions, adults from stressful childhood situations would perform better
than expected at gathering information and assessing people's reputations. However, many people
think in terms of whether a slow or fast life approach is acceptable or insufficient for a growing
child. One should think in terms of what is appropriate in each environment. For instance, a child
growing up in a structured

Alzheimer's Memory Loss
Elderly people, male and female, all tend to lose their memories at one point or another. Whether
they have a terminal illness or are just losing their memories because of age, the memories they lose
tend to be the happiest or most important memories they had created. For instance, people who are
diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease lose memories of their children's childhood, or even sometimes
their names. They forget what they themselves used to be like, including what their favorite place
was to eat and what they did in their free time. To an outsider, it would seem that a person who
forgets so much has nothing left but what may come in the future. However, there are ways that can
help these ill or aged people remember who they used to be.

It's the smell of your grandma's house, the scent of wax crayons and Elmer's® glue, the aroma of
your favorite home–cooked holiday cookies that your mom baked only once a year when you were a
kid. Smells and odors have a natural tendency to transport you back to the rose–colored years of
your childhood. Before you know it, you're suddenly caught up in thoughts of who you were and
how you've changed or perhaps reflecting on which decisions brought you to where you are in that
particular moment in life. It's in that moment, those short–lived moments, that one deeply
appreciates the ability to smell and maybe wonders how such an arbitrary smell can have such a
strong emotional response. Most of the scents that have strong emotional connections, nowadays,

I asked him what kind of things he had made with his dad in the garage. He said, "we made a lot of
things like birdhouses, mailboxes, tables, and now and then something special for mom. One time
we made he a jewelry box that made her cry." Why did she cry I asked? He replied well because she
loved it. We had painted a few scenes on it and put some fake jewels on it. I then asked what year he

Personal Narrative: My Trampoline
My house has been a huge part of my life. My house was built with dark red bricks. It is big and I
have a large backyard with a hammock. It has many characteristics that make it important, but these
are a few. My house is meaningful to me considering I have had so many memories of my friends
and family there. It also keeps me safe when there is a storm or bad weather. In conclusion, I love
many items from my childhood, but my house is one of my favorites. My trampoline is also one of
my favorite items. It is a big circle and it is black and blue with a net. It is significant to me because,
like my house, I have had so many fun times with my family and friends. Another reason why my
trampoline is crucial to me is because I have fallen and gotten

My Favorite Memories As A Kid
Childhood memory
One of my favorite memories as a kid was the time me my sister and the twin neighbors decided
that today was a good day to swim. It was probably late april or early may, the pool had been sitting
out since last summer and the water had turned green. I of course had to go test out the water, as I
was taking my shoes and socks off I went to take a closer look at the water when suddenly my
younger sister jumped straight in. She got up and started to cry because the water was full of leaves
and other gross things, so me and the twins jumped into the nasty, slimy, green water and had to
much fun to be disgusted. Even though everyday of my childhood wasn 't like that day, it 's been full
of learning moments and entertaining moments, good times and not as good times that have helped
me figure out how to handle life today.
Thesis statement
The purpose of my oratory is to share the importance of making the most of your childhood.
I think that childhood should be embraced and treasured because it only lasts so long.
Attention step
So many kids are getting left behind or ignored, and it 's not necessarily by other kids. By the time
some kids grow up they have terrible memories from childhood, and in today 's society some could
see suicide as an easier way out. Childhood is a physical and mental growing period and should be
both fun and educational so that they can grow up into intelligent adults Suicide is the 3rd leading
cause of death for 15–24 year olds, and even

What Is A Beatriz House Essay
My Childhood in Beatriz House
Throughout my years of living, I have lived in various houses but my grandmother's house in the
Dominican Republic is the one most significant to me. Indeed, this house wasn't the most lavish nor
the most spacious one in the neighborhood but it occupies a special place in my heart, because this
is the house where I grew up at. I left my grandmother house fourteen years ago and some details
are out of my grasp. The memory of my grandmother Beatriz's house now serves as a symbol of my
childhood. When the only things that I was worried about was having fun with my friends by also
being free of responsibilities.
To begin with, I remember elatedly and quickly running to the cramped porch with the four brown
rocking chairs that seemed to lose its maroon paint more each day. Moreover, every evening ...

The patio was almost vacant, except that in the patio there was a lemon tree and one tall orange tree.
Despite the orange tree's altitude, I climbed it just for the fun of it; it was a challenge sometimes
after it rained, because the tree branches were all soaked in water and in a state of slipperiness. I
remember that almost every day my childhood friends and I gather in the patio where we played
many amusing games. When we played baseball we didn't had a real baseball bat, neither a real
baseball ball, instead we used broom sticks and we made our own baseball balls by putting one
green orange or one green lemon into two old sock. Furthermore, sometimes during the night time
the house electricity went off, this was the time to play hide and seek. I hid in many places, but I had
a special place where I was never found. On the left side of the house there was a polish concrete
sink where my grandmother hand washed the clothes with soapy water. I hid under sink and to cover
my body, I dragged a blue plastic water tank, which was always

My eyes open and I peel the covers off me and my warm pajamas, flick the lights on in my room,
forgetting to look at the clock before I unlatch the door and I tiptoe down the hall to Harrison's
room. He is up and is sitting upright in his bed. I happen to see the clock and it is only 5:00 am.
Why did Christmas morning feel to move so slow? I knew my parents wouldn't be up this early, so I
told Harrison we should go back to bed, but I realize I just couldn't fall asleep with so much
anticipation. What did Santa bring this year? I toss and turned, and thought that it must have been
another hour. As a look at the clock only 8 minutes went by and then I had had enough. I open my
door, and put on some socks to protect my feet from the frosty wooden floors, and crept down the
stairs. Left foot... right foot... one step closer to the Christmas tree. Only a few steps from the first
floor, and then the floorboards creak under my feet, my heart immediately stops in fear I was going
to be caught by my parents.

Androgynous Man By Noel Perrin
In this week's lesson, we were told to pick between two articles in our textbook, provide our favorite
sentence and analyze the author's method, he or she used to portray a particular memory during
childhood. I found this week's lesson to be both intellectual and intriguing in the sense of opening
my mind to the ideas or beliefs of another individual. The world is made up of millions of people,
and no two individuals are the same in how they reflect or portray numerous events during their
lives. After reading both articles, one stood out more than the other. The article that I found most
fascinating was "Androgynous Man," by Noel Perrin.
The author Noel Perrin used a compelling method in his portrayal of his childhood memories
throughout his life. He used these memories to help him decipher what it meant to be an
androgynous man. Then he applied this knowledge to himself throughout his life. As a result, he
provided his understanding of what he feels it is and his opinion on androgyny. I noticed in his
article that he uses short sentences to get his point across. This method to me makes his writing
specific and direct to the point. In doing so, this eliminates the reader's ability to wonder or
misunderstand the point that he is trying to convey. Although his sentences were short, ... Show

understanding and knowledge of androgyny to memories of people that I know who share the same
qualities. To have the reader, comparing his or her insights and examples of others actions, beliefs,
and personal characteristics make this article successful. Not only does it open your mind to the
concept of androgyny. It also generates further questions over the meaning from the

family every August to Belgrade Lakes, Maine, and stay there throughout the month. White was
always filled with excitement whenever he traveled to the lake as child, because of the joyful
memories he created. Time proceeds and White relives his experience by taking his son to the lake
to relive what White refers to as "old haunts" In E.B. White's reflective essay, "Once More to the

childhood while visiting his favorite vacation spot.

Reflection Paper On Counselling
The first counseling session was an introductory time for me and Counselor, Janine King to become
acquainted. Janine introduced her techniques and her journey to becoming a counselor. I shared my
counseling journey, my academic goals, and the areas that I wanted to focus on during the ten
weeks. The session ended by creating a road map of the areas in my life that might be explored. In
session two, Janine went over my MMPI results and inquired about my life story. It was interesting
to learn that Janine's MMPI results were similar to mine. Janine encouraged me to view the results
with an open mind and use the new information to propel growth in my life. I spent the rest of the
session sharing my life story, and secrets about my past that had never been shared before. The
session closed with reflection and prayer. The third session I was introduced to an exercise called
Safe Place, as well as The Six R's Script. The Six R's are: recognizing my sin, repenting of the sin,
receiving freedom, realigning with God, and rejoicing in the healing and freedom I received. I
walked through the Six R's Script after I identified sin that still gripped me. The session ended with
Safe Place exercise and prayer. I left with action steps on how to move forward in my new–found
healing and freedom. The fourth session was full of struggle and frustration. I went into the session
thankful for the victory from the week before, but as we delved into my past

The Family 's Gesture Of Appreciation
M.G was born on Sunday the 10th of October, 1952 in California. M.G reported that he learned of
his birthday from his parents when he was about 4 years old. During his birth, his father was out of
the country for business thus his uncle had offered to take care of his brother's pregnant wife while
he was away on business. Therefore, M.G was named after his uncle as the family's gesture of
appreciation for his kindness. The interviewee had a number of childhood memories, but claimed
that his first and most vivid memory is when he got bullied by his fellow pre–schoolers. In fact, the
experience caused him to lose his self–worth and negated his self–esteem.

As such, his parents love towards each other was without question since he believed their
relationship was graced with love. However, interviewee's mother was stricter than his father. For
example, it was his mother who often disciplined him for wrongdoing. M.G recounted of one
incident in which his mother disciplined him for fighting a fellow 5th grade student. He also
credited his parents' marriage. According to the interviewee, although his parents' marriage was not
entirely perfect, they loved and cared for each other immensely. This could be justified with the
support and assistance that his father gave his mother after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in
1995.
It emerged that MG's father was the breadwinner of the family; the mother was a housewife. His
father used to work as a finance manager with a financial institution in California. As such, on
average, the families in the neighborhood were within the same income bracket; middle income
earners. His family's income was spent on different activities including education, Medicare,
holiday, insurance, transport, clothing, food, electricity and other miscellaneous activities.
The interviewee had only one sister who was born on April 1981. His sister was talkative and
playful while growing up. In most cases he would help his sister with homework and wake her up in
the morning for school. Apparently, his grandparents had both passed on at his birth. As such, he
could only tell their names, but not when

Examples Of Rambling Autobiography
Rambling Autobiography Nicholas Hill My only memory of first grade is learning cursive and
having far worse handwriting than other classmates. Probably my favorite memory from elementary
school is recess and playing with friends. Middle school came around and was probably the first
time I was really nervous to go to school, but by the end I realized how fun it was and all the trouble
I got into. Before school every started for me I enjoyed playing outside climbing trees. Every time
fall came around I looked forward to jumping in piles of leaves, carving pumpkins and halloween.
In 8th grade I started skiing which is my favorite winter hobby. The first time I went on a airplane
was last year(2016) when we went to Florida then took a cruise to the Bahamas. I'm hate spiders and
snakes especially big snakes and spiders. One of my favorite memories as a child is when went on a
short vacation in New Hampshire and stayed in a really cool cabin with a stream behind it that made
for the best sleep ever. Another time I went to New Hampshire was with my Aunt and Uncle and we
stayed in a house they own near Hampton Beach, which was the first time I ever went to a big
beach. In 6th grade my family and my friends family went to the Damariscotta Lake State Park
almost every day and had barbecue chicken on the regular, along with hamburgers and hotdogs. We
also went to the majority of state parks in Maine because we got a state park pass book and there is

Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close Analysis
Childhood memories linger in the back of people's minds, until a sense of déjà vu lets the memory
crawl to the front of their brain. The déjà vu can come from the most peculiar things, the way
someone wears their hair, or the way the breeze tingles across a person's arm can make it seem like
a day that was many moons ago is being experienced once more. Oskar, the protagonist in
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close clings on to the moments of peace and understanding he had
with his father before he died in the September 11th terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. The
speaker in "Forgotten Planet" asks his daughter to name the planets, and her incorrect answer of
"Plunis" reminds the speaker of a time where he sat with his father in anticipation of a meteor
shower. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two years after September 11th Oskar still revels in the day itself and the last moments he had with
his father. "Dad always use to tuck me in, and he'd tell the greatest stories, and we'd read the New
York Times together, and sometimes he'd whistle "I Am the Walrus," because that was his favorite
song, even though he couldn't explain what it meant, which frustrated me." (Foer, 12) Since his
father's death, Oskar has had to learn to live without the innocent joys of childhood. The only time
the reader ever sees Oskar remotely act like a child is when he is reminiscing about his memories
with his father. In parallel, the speaker in
"Forgotten Planet" says, "Now, knowledge erodes wonder. The niggling voce reminds me that the
sun does shine on the dark side of the moon. My daughter's ignorance is my bliss. Through her eyes
I spy like a voyeur." Now that the speaker of "Forgotten Planet" is grown up, the only way he can
see the innocence of childhood is through his daughter. It pains him to know that she will one day
lose her innocence as well. "I travel in a rocket ship to the planet Plunis. On Plunis I no longer long
for the past.

Childhood's attractive and positive moments and things have been chosen to depict through the paintings. All the favorite memories are recalled and transferred in the present work in visual form. It seems like a college of all things related to the childhood. The mind has various memories of the early life but the thesis focuses on the precious ones that always pop up in the mind and makes the artist feel comfort and pleasure. Rome–based Russian artist Ekaterina Panikanova uses open–faced books, carefully aligned with one another, as a large canvas for his memories each of her paintings in a series titled "Errata Corrige." Using old books and various antiquated texts, Panikanova proceeds to apply her dark markings across the multiple volumes of published words and images. Like a hidden message or puzzle, her works are applied across unspecified pages on each book. Furthermore, with some of her paintings (which are more like installations), there is a puzzling three–dimensionality to them as the pages are not bound down. Instead, they flow freely and add not only layers, but also a sense of texture to the piece. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Spicy Hot Pot In Walk Two Moons By Sharon Creech The Spicy Hot Pot An American marine biologist, Rachel Carson states, "For the sense of smell, almost more than any other, has the power to recall memories...". Research shows that in order to remember anything, the fives senses must pick up our experiences. Smell is one of the most effective senses that reminds us of past experiences. The reason for that it is because the olfactory part of the brain which processes smells are go through the part of the brain that is connected to the amygdala and the hippocampus where memory and emotions are processed. In the book, Walk Two Moons, by Sharon Creech, the main character, Sal, is eating blackberry pies. The blackberry pies triggers Sal's memory of picking blackberries with her mother, which sparks ... The strong spicy smell was permeating the room as it took me back to the summer when I was in China eating the same hot pot with my father. That night the table was filled with shrimp, lamb, beef, fishy meatballs, potatoes and cabbage. I was sitting across from my father waiting for the spicy soup to boil. This was my last meal in China. The next morning, I would be heading to Los Angles and without seeing my dad for four years. The soup was warm and comforting, but the air around me felt cold and depressing. Finally, the soup started to boil. My dad began to place all the meats into the soup. The air was getting colder, even though the soup was still boiling. I felt wet drops of water on my cheeks. I put my head down. "Are you ok?", my dad asked. "Yea, yea, don't worry, its just the soup is too spicy." I answered. Suddenly, I was at home in Irvine looking across the table at my brother playing on the IPad. My father was no where to be seen and the apartment was quiet. Currently, the smell of the hot pot has become symbolic of my connection to my father. Recently, my friend and I drove an hour in horrible traffic to LA in search of the same hot pot that I had eaten in China. It was almost as good as the one I had eaten in ... • 6. Meaningful Song Let's Get It Started By Skillet Meaningful Song Everyone in the world listens to music, no matter what genre it is. We all have our own certain preference. Certain songs we listen to can bring back a memory from our past. The memory can be happy or sad. The two songs that are my most favorite are "Let's Get It Started" by the Black Eyed Peas, and "American Noise" by Skillet. These songs bring back very special memories from my childhood. My first memory, come from the song "Let's Get It Started." My memory starts out when I was in third grade. We always had a Valentine's Day dance. My friends as well as I would always have an exciting time dancing and singing. Our school secretary would make sure to play the most popular songs of that time or songs that were not too old. She played this specific song, just listening to it, it had become my favorite song that I had ever heard that whole night at the dance. Whenever I would listen to this song I would always remember that exhilarating night I had with my friends. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They trigger two happy memories that I would love to relive. The meaning behind the song "Let's Get It Started" is when the band wants to start a party; they want to have fun all night long, just like how my friends along with myself were when we were at the dance. The last song, "American Noise", brings a lot of sentimental value to me. I think it means that no one should be afraid to live their life, to love people, and be positive about the life you live. To conclude my thoughts and opinions, everyone can listen to any kind of music. Music can cause you to remember a memory from your past. Listening to that can trigger the memory because you listened to that exact song on that day you had the event. You remember that memory because the song helped you to remember. Music is amazing, from the top ten hits of today, all the way to music from the 70's. No matter what you like to listen to music can give us strong emotions no matter ... Larrierayne Ruth Anissa Nayshell Romine was born on June 14th, 1973, in Montrose, Alabama. This was also the day that the World Trade Center was officially named the tallest building in New York. As a child, Larrie's favorite game to play was Hide N' Seek with her friends. She also played softball throughout her entire childhood, so practicing for upcoming games was normally what she did in her free time. Larrie had a different fear than most kids; "I never had a mother, so I always thought my dad would leave one day too." She lived a life of poverty that just about anything that didn't have to do with helping out around the house, with her siblings, or her parents were gratifying. However, this is one story that I have heard from her countless times. Her favorite childhood memory was going to school and being asked to sing in front of the classroom. The feeling that nothing mattered in the world that money couldn't even compare to this emotion. Though too many school isn't exciting because we are obligated to go, but to her it was a privilege to attend school since back in those days not many children could attend school because there was a higher demand to help at home that education wasn't an option. As she recounted this story I noticed a face of mixed emotions. Her expressions and her voice would have happiness in them yet they also had sad emotions. Gathering stories from two different individuals with a big age gap consisted of several issues. My daughter would pause during her story to try to remember what exactly happened. The voice intonation and body language would at times lead me to believe she could possibly be lying about some of the things that happened (Justak, 2014). • 10. How Music Changed My Life How Music Changed My Life One of my earliest memories from my childhood involves music. I was only five or six and me and my brother would be coming home from pre–school and daycare. My mom would ask us what we wanted to listen to and we would both yell back "Our CD!" My mother would laugh and proceed to play a Beethoven CD she kept in the center console of the car. This memory has stuck with me since I was a kid. It has played a major role in my development and was the beginning of my growing passion for music. Since that memory many others followed; all involving music and its impact on me. Particularly, is music's impact on me during sports as a motivator. For example, one memory I have is from our most important competition "Cheersport." It was a three–day competition in Atlanta, Georgia and we were all excited. At our first practice the night before the actual completion, we were dropping stunts, bumping in to each other during transitions, and our pyramid kept falling. We had lost our motivation for the next day and we were crumbling as a team. The day of the competition was hectic and wasn't any better than the previous night. We began fighting and blaming each other for why the pyramid kept falling. However, when we stepped out onto the stage it all melted away. The bright lights shined down on us as we lowered our heads and squeezed our hands to our sides. Then the music began and we all forgot the fighting and instead worked together. I was lucky enough that had parents who could afford to send me to a private Christian school K–8th grade. This was a very small school with grades that were combined. This meant that the teacher was always coming up with ideas to make the work applicable to both grades. This was beneficial to me because I have always loved a challenge. If my grade level work was not challenging enough for me, often I would be allowed to work on the grade above mines work as well. I shared my counseling journey, my academic goals, and the areas that I wanted to discuss. The session ended by mapping out a schedule of counseling sessions to fulfill academic requirements and prayer. In session two, Janine went over my MMPI results with me and inquired about my life story. It was interesting to learn that Janine's MMPI results were similar to mine. Janine encouraged me to view the results with an open mind and use the new information to propel growth in my life. I spent the rest of the session sharing my life story, and I found myself sharing secrets I had never shared with others before. The session closed with reflection and prayer. The third session I was introduced to an exercise called "Safe Place", as well as "The six R's Script". The Six R's script took me through recognizing my sin, repenting, receiving, realignment, and rejoicing. There were a few things that came up during my story that I had not repented of; walking through the Six R's really assisted me through the repentance and healing process. We then ended with Safe Place prayer, which was a time to rest in God's Presence. Janine anointed me with oil, prayed over me, and I left with action steps on how to move forward in my healing. While these two survey had many like questions in particular about favorite food, favorite color and favorite sport, the Who I AM PDF was more in–depth as it ask about pets, accomplishments, and also the qualities of a good teacher. The first survey (Student Interest Inventory) was fun and light hearted. However I confess that I stalled on my favorite color choice. Although I selected red I was really thinking about purple and royal blue, so maybe a change is taking place within me or maybe I have favorite colors for different seasons. Interesting! • 17. Dinner At The Homesick Restaurant Chapter Summary Anne Tyler, in her novel Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant, tells the story of a struggling family in Baltimore, Maryland who suffers a series of loss, bewilderment, and utter disconnect from each other in order to show that family is the thing that shapes an individual into the person they become with their family; to show that memories control a being. Through her third person, omniscient point of view, Tyler emphasizes that each family member has a different kind of family of his or her own. As the story is told, Tyler maintains a consistent narrator by keeping it the same while changing focus among the main characters of the novel: Pearl, Cody, Ezra, Jenny, Luke, and Beck. Anne Tyler does this to develop the story in an unbiased way, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because Tyler chose to write this novel in a third person point of view, she was able to show her characters in an open way making them easier to relate to and understand as they become their own selves and establish independence through branching their family off into little families of their own. Her establishment of a single narrator telling the memories of each family member accentuates the significance of memory in the development of the independence of each character. With emphasizing this importance of memory, Tyler shows how the development of her storyline is completely dependent on the past experience of her characters. Because of this, the narrator shows both moments from each character's past and their present lives. Anne Tyler creates a novel that is unpredictable by having characters that exhibit atypical lives due to their pasts. • 18. Androgynous Man By Noel Perrin Class, After reading both articles I am going to be giving my thoughts on "Androgynous Man" by Noel Perrin, pg. 242–243. Are the sentences long, short, poetic, or matter of fact? In comparison to "Once more to the lake", I found the sentences in "Androgynous Man" to be short and easy for me to understand. The sentences in "Androgynous Man", while easier to understand were not nearly as descriptive or informative as sentences in "Once more to the lake". Is the author successful in creating an interesting or moving piece about the memory? In my opinion, Perrin, was not successful at bringing the memories of his story to life. While the story itself was well written, in my opinion it did not paint a vivid picture of how Perrin recalled his childhood. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. The Negative Effects Of Adulthood In Childhood For most of the population of the world, childhood is filled with countless invaluable memories. There are ordinary events such as attending numerous friends birthday parties or hoping for as many snow days as possible. One may remember specific memories, in particular attending a local carnival or the day they received their favorite stuffed animal. For a smaller portion of the population, childhood is tainted by memories of an emotionally and/or physically abusive parent. As troubling as those memories can be, experience in dealing with such adversity might be useful as one venture into adulthood. Adults who have experienced significant childhood stress might display a hostile personality, meaning they distinguish a threat in situations that others view as normal. It's suggested that the script can be overturned, or at least altered. Recent studies have shown that individuals who have chaotic childhoods, exhibit an increased ability to observe and monitor threats and remember negative events. Thus allowing the adult to gain a new perspective on life. One can assume, under the right conditions, adults from stressful childhood situations would perform better than expected at gathering information and assessing people's reputations. However, many people think in terms of whether a slow or fast life approach is acceptable or insufficient for a growing child. One should think in terms of what is appropriate in each environment. For instance, a child growing up in a structured ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. My Favorite Memories As A Kid Childhood memory One of my favorite memories as a kid was the time me my sister and the twin neighbors decided that today was a good day to swim. It was probably late april or early may, the pool had been sitting out since last summer and the water had turned green. I of course had to go test out the water, as I was taking my shoes and socks off I went to take a closer look at the water when suddenly my younger sister jumped straight in. She got up and started to cry because the water was full of leaves and other gross things, so me and the twins jumped into the nasty, slimy, green water and had to much fun to be disgusted. Even though everyday of my childhood wasn 't like that day, it 's been full of learning moments and entertaining moments, good times and not as good times that have helped me figure out how to handle life today. Thesis statement The purpose of my oratory is to share the importance of making the most of your childhood. I think that childhood should be embraced and treasured because it only lasts so long. Attention step So many kids are getting left behind or ignored, and it 's not necessarily by other kids. By the time some kids grow up they have terrible memories from childhood, and in today 's society some could see suicide as an easier way out. Androgynous Man By Noel Perrin In this week's lesson, we were told to pick between two articles in our textbook, provide our favorite sentence and analyze the author's method, he or she used to portray a particular memory during childhood. I found this week's lesson to be both intellectual and intriguing in the sense of opening my mind to the ideas or beliefs of another individual. The world is made up of millions of people, and no two individuals are the same in how they reflect or portray numerous events during their lives. After reading both articles, one stood out more than the other. The article that I found most fascinating was "Androgynous Man," by Noel Perrin. The author Noel Perrin used a compelling method in his portrayal of his childhood memories throughout his life. He used these memories to help him decipher what it meant to be an androgynous man. Then he applied this knowledge to himself throughout his life. As a result, he provided his understanding of what he feels it is and his opinion on androgyny.
