Significant Moments in My Life
Although I have no remembrance of my early years of life, I would say that I do know my roots
pretty well; I was born in a Caribbean country named Dominican Republic on April 6, 1992, which
makes me sixteen years old. I am the fourth child out of six, making me the youngest out of the
three girls. The basic information only situates my position in life but does not define me. I am a
simple young lady that follows a routine on a daily basis. I have done small but significant things in
my previous years that have shaped who I am today.
The definition of a simple life for me is following a routine that does not include partying every
week, going to the movies on the weekends or just spending time with friends. My life might not be

As I mentioned before I enjoy playing sports especially volleyball. This year was my third year
playing volleyball but it was my first time ever being a captain. Being a captain for the first time
was a really good experience for me because not only did I feel as a role model to the newcomers
but I was able to show and develop leadership. During the first few days of me trying to get used to
the fact of being captain I was under pressure of always having to do good so the teammates would
follow, I later understood that I didn't have to be perfect, that as long as I showed commitment and
encouragement it was enough.
While understanding what a captain was supposed to do I realized that I was showing leadership and
being a role model to my little brothers too. I show leadership to my little brothers by always
completing my homework and doing well in school and influencing them to do the same. "I want to
have lots of trophies like you" Alex, one of the twins, said to me before going to bed one night.
Hearing him say those words to me made me realize that he looks up to me and that I am one of
their role models, which I have to make right decisions for them to follow. Being their role model
has helped me in my daily life to make right reasonable decisions; it makes me think second thought

Social Media Analysis: Crossfit
As I think about this project and try to brainstorm some ideas as to what i would like to promote, I
get very excited and surprisingly cant wait to get started on this project as it will be on something of
my choice, something I absolutely love and something that can be extremely fun. My first and
favorite choice is going to have to be CrossFit. Crossfit is a very competitive sport that involves
lifting weights and a cardio/ lifting workout afterwards. I have been doing CrossFit for over 6 years
now and I am OBSESSED with it and I try to better myself each and everyday. I would love to be an
inspiration to people to maybe want to start something like this or even just workout and eat healthy.
The two social media tools that I think will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maybe set up an online store to raise money for the fallen heroes that recently passed in a helicopter
crash in Iraq, that I actually had the honor to be from the same base and serve along side them. Two
social media tools that I believe will best promote this store is definitely Facebook and Twitter. My
goal for this idea would definitely be to raise as much money for these fallen airmen as they had just
recently left their families behind, some of them had little babies and if I can make a difference in
these families lives, it would be to raise money so these kids are supported for a long time. Twitter
and Facebook would be a big help because again, these posts can be retweeted, shared, commented
on and can easily have links for people to click on to be able to donate or spread the word. In the
article, "Spotlight on community policing: The benefits of social media", the main purpose in this
article is the impact social media has on police officers and really the way they make headlines.
"Additionally, social media as a communications tool has been proven to work very well, as noted in
a recent report which found that of those surveyed by IACP in 2015, "83.5 percent of agencies state
that social media has improved police–community relations in their jurisdiction." (Spotlight on
community policing: The benefits of social media 2016). This just shows that if i did open up a
fundraising store, word could easily get out with all the social media and the percentage of people
using them. Another article i found that is similar to my idea here is "A CLASSIC AMERICAN
DEPARTMENT STORE'S RESURGENCE TO GLORY: USING SOCIAL MEDIAAND ONLINE
ADVERTISING STRATEGIES TO GENERATE REVENUE", which talks about how retailers
strategize how they promote their stores in an online environment and how to improve their revenue.

Reflection Paper About Stress
For this week's essay I had the ability to learn about stress and the different categories that people
can fall into. People who experience stress more are categorized as type A people why people who
are less prone to these stresses are categorized as type B people. After talking the quiz I learned that
I scored a 267. This places me in the low type A range. This was little bit of a surprise to me because
I don't consider myself to be an over stressed person. I then thought about what causes me stress and
possible ways of being able to change my life style to help lessen the stress I experience. In this
essay I am going to share about what some of my major stresses are, how I reduce stress and finally
I will share a time when I was more of a type A person than a type B person.
When it comes to what stresses me in life it is the normal things at many college students
experience. I often find myself worrying about my grades and if I am doing well in school. One
major thing that I often find myself stressing over is if I am on track to graduate in a decent amount
of time. I understand that college is not something that can be finished over night but I always want
to make sure that I am moving at a decent pace to ensure that I wont be here for ever. To help reduce
this stress I often check my degree audit report to ensure I am on track. Another way I cope with this
concern is by making sure I talk with my advisors when it comes time to make my schedule for the
next semester. I

My Personal Statement On My Life
I would like to start to be kinder to others, find more time to focus on myself and who I am, and
finally, I want to be more positive and stop complaining. Throughout life, I was raised to do well in
school and that 's my main focus. I was pushed to get good grades and to forget the rest. Now that
my high school career is coming to an end I have more time for some self change. I want to spend
less time focusing on what others want and what I want. I 'm told many times I could be nicer to
others and stop complaining as much. I tend to want to do what others think is best and not what I
think is best for me. So those are just a few ways I wish to change and ways I want to improve
myself.
Throughout life I haven 't treated people the best of my ability. In school, I had a very self involved
attitude. I would have rather done everything myself, and I have no patience for when others bother
me. I want to try to focus on the positive qualities people have. I want to smile more and be nice to
strangers. I think these changes would make me be a better person. Learning to care about others
feelings and take into account that everyone is different and we all need to be viewed different. A
big saying my mom has always said is, "we don 't know what 's happening in someone else 's life so
just be kind to everyone you come in contact with." In today 's society we smile less and are rude
way more than we are kind. If we stopped and started just smiling a little more who knows whos

Descriptive Essay About Going To The City
Leaving home to come to a city so far away for college was one of the hardest decisions that I've
ever been faced with. I was excited at first, but when the time came around of my leaving,
nervousness started to come the surface. I was excited because this would be the opportunity for me
to spread my wings and leave the nest, but I was nervous because I had never been so far away from
my family. I had always been in close proximity of their reach. I was nervous because I would no
longer be able to just run home and hide from my problems, I would have to face the real world, I
would have to face the things I've been sheltered from my whole life.
My decision changed on the regular basis, I never really had a set plan although I had visited the
University of Cincinnati multiple times and I had traveled around the city and I fell in love with it. I
never saw myself moving across the city because of how sheltered I was but I knew that I needed to
break away. A day came where I decided to devote time to calculate the costs of each school to see
which one would fit my financial budget. I liked how the University of Cincinnati's tuition was
relatively cheaper than my initial top choices. The final straw of making my decision was that the
city itself as well as the school was very diverse, which gave me a sense of belonging.
I gathered enough information to make me want to come to the University of Cincinnati, but I didn't
gather enough information on calculating the costs. I

Personal Narrative: Maribel
One person I've always looked up too since I was little would be my mother, Maribel.
She is the most important person in my life and I honestly don't know what I would do without her.
Her smile could make anyone's day just by looking at it. Many people often tell us we look alike or
like sisters and it just flatters her. She has short light ash brown hair and brown eyes. She is a bit
taller than me, and her skin color is more of a pale white. I also have ash brown hair and brown
eyes, but I'm more of a tannish color. Not just because she's my mom I say this, but she does look
young for her age.
There is so many things my mother has done for me I could never repay her for every little thing she
has done. She is my rock, best friend, and mother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was more calm and kept to myself, I still am to this day exactly like that. I don't really like going
out unless it's for an occasion but I don't go out just because. I think another reason I wasn't ever one
of those crazy teenagers that partied all the time was because of my parents. They didn't raise me
like that and it just isn't me.
I'm glad my parents raised me how they did. They were a bit strict but they would let me hangout
with my friends when I wanted to, but I had a curfew. I had to give them my phone when it was time
to go to bed so I wouldn't stay up late. We had a certain amount of time we could watch TV or be on
the laptops. I remember crying of anger because I had to give them my phone and I wanted to stay
up and text my friends because no one else got their phones taken away, just me. Even if at the time
it would make me extremely mad I'm glad they did it. I know little things like that impacted my life
and made me who I am.
Now I don't even watch TV anymore I don't even really have time for it. I work 2 jobs and am a full
time student at MCC. I am currently taking all the prerequisites to get into the nursing program and
it's a lot. I have to know how to manage my time and have certain

What Happened To The Rats Research Paper
What Happened to the Rats! Remember back in 1967, when Lyndon B. Johnson was President?
Remember Camilo Junior High and Ms. Baker? Of course you remember Ms. Baker's precious rats,
Sycorax and Caliban. It was back in 1967 at Camilo Junior High when Sycorax and Caliban
disappeared. Poor Holling was cleaning out the rats' cage when they escaped. Sycorax and Caliban
were as fast as lightening as they ran off. The school year was ending and the rats have not been
found. Well fast forward to the year 1997, and the rats are still missing. Many things have changed
since 1967. The principal and all the other teachers are now grandparents or dead. Ms. Baker retired
five years ago, and now Holling is a teacher at Camilo Junior High. Holling's dad has died of a heart
attack, and Holling also manages the family business, Hoodhood and Associates. Doug Syteck is

her retirement, but never forgot about her missing rats. Now that Ms. Baker is no longer at the
school, she has asked Holling to figure out what happened to Sycorax and Caliban. Everyone
suspects Doug Syteck's son has the rats in captivity, but no one knows where though. It's been a
thousand years since anyone has seen them. What if they are dead? You'll find out later.... Mr.
Holling is going to figure out this mystery. Mr. Holling has his mind set on finding the rats, and he

My Experience In A Restaurant
Looking back, I can still recall the countless days that I spent in my family's restaurant. For twelve
hours every single day of the week, I spent the majority of my time alone at a corner table. My mom
was always occupied with leading the stream of faces, pouring through the doors, to their tables and
attending to their needs. On the other hand, my dad would be busy operating the large woks,
rounded cooking pans, over scorching red flames in order to keep the food trays in front of the
kitchen doors filled. Even though my parents were always around me, I had to spend most of my
time by myself. I would spend the dull lengthy periods I had doodling on menus, building with
Legos and crafting action figures out of eating utensils and rubber bands. Although I came up with
many activities to shorten the long days, my constantly changing thirst for entertainment could not
be quenched. I remembered one day; I ran into the back of the restaurant to complain to my dad. I
told him that the parents of other kids have jobs as well, yet they still spend time with their kids.
and, it was not fair for me to have my parents to say that they were too busy to see my drawings and
praise my creations. Fatigued and sweaty, my dad briefly stepped back from the heat of the woks
and said, " make use of the opportunities that you have now so that you won't regret it in the future".
Not surprisingly, I was a dumb little kid and I stormed out of the kitchen with clenched fists, teary
eyes, red face

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Adolescence
Each adolescent is unique, and as adolescents we all have our strengths and weaknesses, but during
this time we are preparing ourselves for our future. We are getting an idea of what life will be like
and the responsibility and maturity that is needed. Throughout adolescence is the time where we can
take matters into our own hands and we are allowed to make mistakes. Making those mistakes is
what can help us improve or even help us learn something that can benefit us in the future.
Sometimes we even allow the social media to have an influence on our day to day life, which can
cause us to second guess ourselves in how we look and even how we act. This is the time that

What Are Your Challenges In Life Essay
I believe that everyone would face challenges or problems in our life. Thus, we need to overcome

challenges in my life.
English skill is one of my major challenges in my academic life even though this problem is not so
difficult for others, but for me it is challenging and this cause I lost confidence. And I really care

Speech : The Power Of Speech By George Washington
It was a dawn disp night and knowing we were going into a war we couldn't win. We were the
underdogs and they had the lead on us. British the well advantage people with the upper hand.
George Washington, leading us, into a great battle in history. I felt like giving up, rather than trying
and risking my life. I knew I couldn't stop, the inspiring, motivating, independent Washington
couldn't make me give up, he was too good. I was inspired, with his words of speech and his whisk
hair like snow. His outfit, flowing in the sharp winds of the soon to be defeated. We were the
underdogs and had to make an upset. We had a disadvantage in every way, but we can't give up now.
It was an inspiration for our people striving to the end and taste that warm flavor of victory. It
pumped my heart with determination. I knew it was a time to win and couldn't stop now. It was time
to make a difference, it was time for an upset. It was inspiring words coming out of Washington's
mouth. Spitting words of Thomas Paine, motivating us with every word. An inspiring speech and an
amazingly motivating, pep talk. Washington delivered these inspiring because everyone was leaving,
just like I was thinking of. I didn't , me and Washington would stick side by side in this cold night
with the winds jabbing at us like glass, as if a thousand crystals exploding in our faces. The view of
each other dissolving in these winds. I knew I couldn't quit I would either taste warm, sweet victory,
or leave with some awful rotten defeat. It was the time to stand we were motivated out of our feet
after that pep talk, it is time to make a change, it is time to stand together and show the British a true
alliance of men. It was our time, our time not to be the underdogs, we might as well be, but at least
we have the momentum on our side. It was that pep talk bursting through our brains with
inspiration, it was our time for some glory, it was our time for change. It was as if we went nothing
to everything through words of speech. It was running through our bodies with the words of the
speech. It was a graceful moment, it was the Pep Talk. It was a play we decided it was time to play a
little trick on them.It was December, 25,1776. The Hessian Troops camped

My Experience Management : College Is Full Of New...
College Success: College is full of new adventures and challenges. I feel that it is my job to conquer
everything that comes my way. I may not be an expert, but I am aware that my old habits may
damage my future beyond immediate repair. Time management is what I need to work on. I am the
type of person to wait until the end to get anything done. I think that I can just do it later because I
have time. I usually end up stressing over the things that could have been handled at the beginning. I
am aware that I have time management issues, I am on the road to recovery. Understanding what I
need to fix is the best thing to know. Time management is a topic I do not like to discuss because it
is my biggest weakness. I am on a mission to make sure it becomes my strength. In high school, I
was the student that was waiting for the last day to study. I did not have a plan to gather my thoughts
about what I learned. It is important to practice time management before I reach a point of no return.
When I mention a point of no return, I mean a stressful path. All I can do is take small steps to make
my dream strength a reality. The step that I want to take to reach this goal is making sure I find a
place to put tasks that I need to accomplish. A planner will make me aware of things I need to stay
on top of, so I don't fall behind. My goal is to have good grades. Setting a deadline is a great way to
finish a task. I want to have an achievement to market myself for the future. A

My Favorite Place At The Lisbon Lepper Library
First of all, community service elicits compassion and understanding otherwise difficult to view in
everyday life. When volunteering to help organizations, causes, or people one 's time is not being
used for just a singular outcome but several diverse establishments. Not only do efforts aid in
promoting positive impacts in one 's society but also in one 's own character.
I frequently chose to volunteer at the Lisbon Lepper Library, a public library where copious amounts
of people choose to spend their free time, because I was able to aid in various departments and
interact with diverse groups of patrons. My favorite place to contribute to in the library was the
Children 's Department due to the enthusiasm and need apparent in those patrons. I had the honor of
meeting hundreds of children through my volunteer work, all of which carried unique burdens but
always wore a smile and were able to put one on me too. Two young girls in particular were
inspiring to me. These girls each came from difficult circumstances; yet, when together appeared to
never have experienced a worry. Although, I would be helping the department put on educational
programs for the patrons there was not a time when those two girls did not find a way to teach me
something too. Whether they came racing up to share interesting facts they found in the nonfiction
section, a topic they enjoyed at school that day, or a trick they learned from their friends their
appreciation of knowledge and their excitement to

Analysis Of There Will Come Soft Rains
The text, There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury tells the story of a robotically controlled
house left standing in a post–apocalyptic world. Every day, life continues as normal for the house
until it meets the same fate of "death" as it catches on fire and burns to the ground, leaving only one
voice behind.
This story made me think about how, even though you may not be there, time still passes on and
does not stop for anybody. Throughout the text, it continues to refer to the time of day it is, and
elaborates on how the day is progressing, like one of the first lines, "Tick–tock, seven o'clock, time
to get up, time to get up, seven o'clock!" Everything, apart from the fact there is nobody around,
seems completely normal, and a routine is still kept in place. The house continues on as if what's
going on is completely normal, as it knows no different from what it has been programmed to do.
The writer makes me think about how we need to make the most of our time on our Earth. We never
know when our last day will be, and our lives are honestly quite fleeting. I personally know that I
don't like or enjoy coming out of the routine I have set for myself on a day to day basis, although
this makes a lot of my days feel the same in an overall sense. The message about how time won't,
and can't, stop for anybody, and how life is so fragile, makes me think about how, maybe, I am not
living to my fullest potential. This is the case for a lot of other people as well, and is a wide

Essay Hg Wells: the Shape of Things to Come
There is only one word that comes to mind when asked to describe H.G. Well's version of the future
in, The Shape of Things to come, and that is, in simplest form, Utopia. Well's describes a world in
which all it's people are completely unified on every level of existence. The natural instinct humans
feel in our present day to achieve money, power, and status does exist in this Well's future. The
people of 2106 are a universally educated population whose main focus and purpose is taking care
of one another, the planet, and their continued development as a human race. However, the steps
taken to achieve this type of world, was not an easy one.
Well's explains the beginning of this process as he speaks of a time when representatives from ...

The feeling of stress has been eliminated from this society because they are entertained by their
work. They enjoy being able to help others by using their skills as they appreciate what others can
do for them. This society Well's speaks of, is on all levels nearly perfect.
If H.G. Well's asked me to come and live in this future, I would without a doubt take him up on his
offer. This place he speaks of seems so peaceful, almost like a paradise realized. However, the time
that came right before this future, before the 'Declaration Of Megeve' is one I would most definitely
pass up. I could not imagine being denied certain desires or being kept so busy with my work that I
was unable to spend some time thinking or dreaming. Yet, as I reflect on what I have read and
learned from Well's and Raven about this future, a song keeps playing in the back of my mind. The
song is "Imagine" written by John Lennon during a time our world was in turmoil. It seems this
song perfectly explains this future. In this future, there is no religion so there is no belief of heaven
or hell. There are no countries to defend, so there are no wars to fight. There are no material
possessions that can't be acquired by everyone, so there is no need for greed. All that exists is a
brotherhood of all man–kind, the world is as one. I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't want to join

Monologue About Someone
Happiness – Jack
Life is tough, it always has been. Always hurling bricks at you at every opportunity. But it's up to
you whether you evade them or let them strike you down. Bricks are just one of the obstacles a
person will face, the biggest one being the wall, where the bricks come from. Any metaphorical wall
is easy to climb over, it's that there are plenty of barriers you need to overcome before you can face
the wall. This wall will block you from the other side, where your true happiness lies.
I am beginning to get frustrated! When your outside with your friends, on the other side of the wall,
you don't want to you indoors. I assured my Mum I would go home so she could help me with my
history assignment. This bothers me, as it shows me that the wall is always coming back to be in
front of you.
I get home to find my Mum's absenteeism. Arrrgh, this is vexatious.

I started pondering about what true happiness is and how to achieve it and get over the wall. I
figured the biggest challenge preventing my happiness is school work. It drains up a lot of my time
and my parents are so obsessive over me getting good grades.
I then start to realise how now that primary school is over, more of my time is put into school work
so I'm less happy. What makes me happy is being with my neighbours, my real friends, NOT my
"friends" from school. As the years go by work will drain up my time with them and before I know

How Do You Do It For More Faster?
#12. Life is always from born to die, the times between born to die are always grow up, learns,
develop things, and processes things that you had learned. Baby grows, and during the time growing
up there will be a lots of things that coming up and learn things by the time. Not only grow from
physical but also grow in mental by learning thing in the life, that mean they develop things that
they learn by the time when they grow and questions about how, what, when, why,...etc. For
example, I have to watch someone or even on video before I fix my car, then I use what I see to do
it, even I have to think to the different ways to do it for more faster that is develop. When I am
fixing it, I have to organize step by step to make sure there is not thing wrong after I am done. By
doing that, I will know how to do it if I see it next time which is develop my skill by learning and
processes things by doing something.
The mind/body connection are very strong or you could say your thoughts and physiology are
closely tied. When your mind think about something it will send the information about what you
think and processing the information and your body will receive the information to make it right.
For example, when the lunch time and you see someone is having food, then immediately you feel
that you are hungry and need some foods too. Another example that easy to see when you think
about hot and cold then your body will feel it hot and cold by following your thinking, like me,

Descriptive Essay About Swimming
Most sports have big events. Games, meets, matches. Swimming has meets. And the nerves you get
are what I call meet jitters. These are the type of butterflies you get when you are about to race, or
before you race. They make you swim faster, and want to throw up. In the end, they are just like any
other nerves you get before any big event in general. "Come on girls let's go!!" , my dad said loudly.
"Coming!", I replied. And just like that two of my sisters and I were whisked away to my swim
meet. The air smelled like salty chlorine. A smell I had gotten used to over the years. Though the air
was dense and humid, I had a sinking feeling that the pool would be as cold as ice. I walked into the
student section, and claimed my spot on the bleachers/pool deck. This swim meet wasn't any special,
but for some reason I more nervous than any swim meet I had done that year. " MSA warm ups are
starting now!", my coach yelled so everyone could hear. It was like a stampede. 100 swimmers or
so, getting into 7 lanes. All on top of each other. Splash!! I dove into the water, and I almost froze.
The water was freezing just as I had suspected. Warm ups make me more nervous, but we have them

Good Things Report Week 3
Good Things Report– Week Three
what was the one best thing that happened during each of the seven days during the past week (10
points) and what can you do to help make each of them happen in the future (10 points)? The
semester is winding down and I am beginning to feel the incredible pressure of final assignments
and exams. Where did the time go? It seems like it was only yesterday when I walked into a class
filled with a sea of new faces eager to learn and now I am preparing for the final moments of this
chapter of my life. It is both exciting and terrifying. Needless to say, this week was a bag of mixed
emotions and although it was tough, I managed to find the silver lining of each day. Sunday stared
off with a visit to my grandparents' house for Easter. I had not seen my grandparents in a couple
weeks, so it was great to finally spend time with them again. While at their house, I spent time
reminiscing about the days spent at my grandmother's house when I was younger. It felt good to
remember playing in the mud with my cousins and exploring our space. I can make this happen
again by ensuring to spend more time giving back to the special place that made me who I am today.

Personal Essay : The Dream Of Being A Nurse
The dream of being a nurse is not an easy path to take and requires dedication and sacrifice. In fact,
leaving the children with their babysitter and having less time to spend with them is amongst of the
greatest challenges for a parent. First, the dedication of continuing the dream of being a nurse will
too require giving up a lot of time that will affect everyone in my life and especially my son. Like
for instance, with the amount of assignments and self study online can take up a lot of time that
somehow occupied most of my time. Then, I have realized that it is almost bedtime and must leave
early the next morning to prevent getting stuck in a traffic and make sure that I would not be late on
my class. With that, trying to make up with the time missed to spend with my son the moment I get
home and failing to accommodate him because of new assignment is another stress to deal with.
Secondly, the need to sacrifice my personal leisure and the time with my son that I must set aside to
be successful with my career. It is in fact not an easy journey since it demands most of my time.
Additionally, the feelings of guilt can too affect my concentration while studying. In fact, there are
times that I must rush my paperwork and get my tests online done faster so that I could have
additional spare time to do activities with him. It is surely not an easy path to take, hence having
strategies will make things easier and will also prevent academic failure. Moreover, being prepared

Reflection About My Personal Identity
When I take a look beck on my lifetime, I see that I've changed a great deal in regards to my
personal identity. For me to put entirely into words on a paper would take me days to explain how
and why things went the way they did, so I'd like to shorten these feeling up. In my youth, I had
clearly planned to take the superhero path through life. Professional athlete, firefighter, police
officer, or basically anything portrayed in society as a model citizen, a class act if you will, all
racing through my mind when thinking about my future. I was mistaking, and for good reason as I
had these feelings until I was about ten years old. When the first year with two digits associated
itself with my age, a certain maturity occurred. I wouldn't classify it as a life changing realization,
but more of an assistant to my later discoveries. In the time I spent working with my father, albeit
mostly masonry work, I began to ask questions with higher frequency. For myself, I wanted to
further my knowledge, but at that time, I was really annoyed that I couldn't understand certain
aspects to building such as why we used Weld–Crete on all of our bluestone patios when it seemed
that we were the only masons doing anything resemblant of our process. I continued to question my
father about how our creations held up and why we did certain things that seemed unnecessary.
Whether we were working on a fireplace, a patio, or a sprinkler system, I was never satisfied until I
understood why we took one

something about the way she carried herself and how she was never without a smile that intrigued

Van Milligan said he could only do this by establishing what he was about individually, then clearly
communicating the expectations on this vision to every employee within the city (Cohen, 2005, p.
65).
Van Milligan immediately started his change initiative within the city organization. He wanted to
make the government aspect of this vision more effective and efficient. To do this he cut a layer of
bureaucracy out. This layer consisted of seven upper management level jobs. By doing this, he
streamlined the organization and started building his guiding team, which consisted of the people
that needed to be a part of the change and those that wanted to change.
Readiness for Change (Jeremy Jensen) Van Milligan next required each department to justify their
existence based on whether they could do the job effectively and efficiently. All levels of employees
were encouraged to be involved in this process. According to Van Milligan it went over like "a lead
balloon". Employees recognized something needed to be done, the economic stress was hitting
home, and they were seeing and feeling the urgency to change (Kotter & Cohen, 2002, p. 10). Even
though this urgency existed, the employees were comfortable and resistant to the change. It really

My Experience At School
I awoke on an early morning, my mother tugging on me. I ask, "What are you doing?" in a tired
voice. She replied, "Get ready, Armani!" That's when I remembered, that today was the big day,
where I would go to school for my first time. In a hurry, I jumped out of my bed and put on my
clothes. I've never seen my parents so happy before, and I was confused why. I wasn't quite sure
what "school" was, but I knew it was a place where kids like me went and I will learn things.
Thinking about it, scared me on how my experience was gonna be for the first time in my life.
After I ate, gotten dressed and ate my breakfast, we went into the car, on our way to school. My
whole family came on the trip, eagerly in the car. "Are you excited?!", my parents asked me, but I
did not know what to say, because I did not know what to be excited for, and that did not make me
feel any better.
We arrived at school, and it was called Bret Harte. The school looked huge from the outside, with a
long fence surrounding the school, and a glass front door. My legs felt shaky, and I was even more
paranoid! My family and I walked to room 28, waiting for me to take a step in my classroom. As I
walked in the classroom, my parents and siblings waited outside the door. As I stepped inside the
classroom, I met my teacher. Her name was Mrs. Berg, and she had bright red hair. "Hi, nice to meet

Mike Iaconelli Research Paper
One of my biggest role models that I try to imitate is the crazy and funny, Mike Iaconelli. Mike
Iaconelli known as "ike" is a big hit in professional fishing that sticks out more than any other
fisherman there is out there. He's a one hilarious man on and off TV. He is that type of person that
actually loves what he does and tries his best at every tournament, even when he does his simple
practices for the tournament that coming up. Ike is one of the main factors that draw in angler to try
to become professional or even elite. When ike catches a fish he doesn't just sit there and say "yeah I
caught one finally", no no no, he's yelling at the top of his lungs "YEAAAHHHH". Being funny is a
natural talent that ike does have very well. Ike is always on top of his game being the funny one out
of the bunch. When ike is on TV, you'll know, trust me. I could be sitting there watching the
Bassmaster classic, not watching the TV and know that Iaconelli is the one on the screen at that
moment he's on. He's the "life of the party" everywhere he goes unless he's screaming at the top of
his lungs that he got one in the boat. He may have ended up in sixth place in the Bassmaster classic,

One thing that not much fisherman does like he does is let people take polls on funny stuff in his
life. Like one recent poll he had was shave his head or his beard. Ike ended up shaving his head

Describe My Grandmother
When I was younger, I lived down the street from my grandma and grandpa. I would go to their
house all the time. Whenever I went to their house, I would watch TV or movies, eat junk food, and
if the weather was nice I would go outside and play in the hose water. But my all time favorite thing
about going to their house was when they would swing me back and forth in a blanket. I would lay
on the blanket and they would each grab an end. I'm guessing it might have looked like a hammock,
I wouldn't know though, since I was in the blanket. They swung the blanket back and forth. The best
part, was when they swung the blanket onto the couch, it was like I was flying, even though it was
only for half a second. My grandma's name is Trevalee Whistler, before her and my grandpa got
married, her last name was Claflin. Her birthday is November 27th, which is a week after mine. She
was born in St. Mary's, Ohio, and has one brother. Her only child is my dad. My grandma is special
to me because she is one of the most loving, caring, and funny people I know. When my grandma is
with her friends, around my dog, or when we play card games together, there is no other word to
describe her except funny. One day when my grandma was at my house, my dog, Sheldon, walked
up to her. At the time she didn't like dogs very much. She tried to shoo Sheldon away, but he isn't the

The Relationship Between Jane And Laney
About four or so months ago a past friend of mine's younger sister came to me to talk. Though her
older sister and I don't talk anymore for obvious reasons, I'd rather not and won't be mentioning. For
the purpose of this essay, I won't be mentioning their actual names instead we'll refer to the older
sister as Jane and the younger sister as Dawn. Dawn came to me to talk about concerns she had for
Jane. She also came to talk about issues that were going on in her life.
Dawn was going through an abundance of problematic situations. She talked about how her
divorced parents were behaving, specifically her father. They have joint custody of her. Jane is
living with their father while dawn is living with their mother and visits her father's house every
other weekend. She talked about how it was tough for her because she genuinely missed her sister,
and didn't get to visit with her much. She also mentioned that when she did, her sister was always
with a girl we'll call Laney. Laney was living with Jane and their father. Laney was the last person
that family needed to be staying with them. She a pretty lousy person to be completely honest with
you. She's a thief and a former addict; thankfully she's clean now. However, back then she was far

sister. She could smell the cigarette smoke that lingered in Jane's room, on her clothes, and on her
breath. She'd also say they seem out of it and that worried her more. Their father was close to never

My Best Friend Buddy : My Best Friend
My Best Friend Buddy I remember the day quite well. I had just started 3rd grade at the time. It was
about 7:15 in the morning. My mom woke me up so I could get ready for school. I got out of bed
and went downstairs. My mom had set my clothes out for me earlier. I got changed and went into
the kitchen. I ate breakfast and got my backpack ready. It was about 8:00 when I walked out the
door. My dog, Buddy, was lying by the door. I went up to him and said goodbye. After that, my
mom took me to school. When I arrived at school I sat with my friends. We had to wait to be
dismissed. We talked about random things to pass the time. When we were dismissed I went to my
classroom. Everyday we started by sharing. We would always sit together in the front of the room.
After that, the day continued like normal. When it was time to go I got my stuff and left. I walked
out of the school and looked for my mom. She was waiting for me in the car. I got into the car and
we went straight home. I said hello to Buddy like I did everyday. When I was done I went inside to
set down my stuff. I was sitting in the kitchen when my dad came up to me. I wasn't prepared at all
of what he was going to say. "Carly, it's time we put Buddy to rest." My father told me. I nodded

Personal Narrative Essay On Ice
I have always wondered what my mom thought as she saw me on the bench playing with my little
hockey stick. I think she knew that I would have an unconditional love for the ice. I would sit on the
cold metal bench in my Old Navy brown leather jacket zipped all the way up with my hockey stick
in one hand and some type of food in the other. As my mom was on the ice teaching her lesson , I
would hear the grinding and chopping up the ice as the skaters zoomed past me leaving a cold gust
of air behind them that would smack my already cold cheek. Now, that feeling is so refreshing
because it brings me back to my little days and how I proudly spent most of my childhood.
As a kid, I would spend my days sitting on the cold metal bench of the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. My
mom would give lessons there. The first time I saw my mom give a lesson, I could feel the
connection between her and the ice. I couldn't see it then but now as I look back I can see it. She had
a smile on her face the whole time she was on the ice and it could do nothing else than make me
smile as well. Being that young I couldn't do much during my mom's lessons but sit and watch. I

The Importance Of Preserving Items Of A 500 Year Time Capsule
The idea of preserving items in a 500 year time capsule may seem like an amazing idea but it is
actually rather difficult to find objects worthy of being put in it. Certain items from my infancy
would have to be included because certain events that happened back then have helped to make me
the person who I now today. My infant life was not one full of idealistic situations due to my birth
parents who were unfit to take care of me, and I am thankful I call my aunt and uncle my mom and
dad. They were very abusive and I would want to preserve some of those memories to explain

I have had the metal pin and screws kept in a small, green, and opaque package that was given to me
by the doctor who removed the pin. Firstly, I would want to include that in the time capsule because
it would tell a story of how my life was changed. It would tell the story of how a life was trusted in
the hands of two individuals, and they took that life and disregarded how a baby should be properly
taken care of. I do not know why they said that it was an accident when it clearly was not, but it
makes me sick to think that anybody could lie to their own child about something that still affects
them to this day. Another reason I want to include the pin, is because it would tell people how I
became a stronger person. Having multiple surgeries itself is something unfortunate to live through.
All the physical scars I have remind me of the horrible events that transpired when I was very small,
but at the same time I think of them as battle scars. They show that I had the determination to not
give up on life, and to prevail regardless of all the obstacles that plagued my life. Also, including it
in my time capsule could tell people the lesson that I have learned about others. I learned that not
everybody is fit for parenthood, but when it comes unexpectedly, there is no bracing for the fight to

Gress : Techniques For Managing Stress
Stressed? I understand how it feels. There's always too much to do, yet another deadline, are too
many people demanding your attention, and of course, money is always a little tight. These are all
examples of things that cause stress that everyone goes through every single day. They all effect
people in different ways. Some people react a lot more extremely than others and some people are
able to shrug it off a little easier. Most people find different activities to help deal with their stress
levels to make them more manageable, so they can continue with their day to day life. In
"Techniques for Managing Stress", Paul M. Insel and Walton T. Roth say, "People who manage
stress effectively are not only healthier, but they also have more time to enjoy life and accomplish
their goals" (1). The rest of this essay with focus on some of my day to day stressors and the
remedies I have developed to help me relieve my stress. Work, money, and time are three of my
biggest stressors that put me in my worst moods. My stress relieving activities consist of
woodworking projects and playing disc golf. My number one stressor, like most people, is work. A
lot of people strongly dislike their jobs, so I know that I am not alone with this. There are a couple
of things I have to deal with at work that trigger my stress. The biggest is the mismanagement I have
to deal with on a daily basis. I work for a large local service company with multiple departments that
run relatively smooth, other than

My Relationship With Dad
My Relationship with Dad
Someone once said, "Anyone can be a father, but it takes a real man to be a dad." The definition of a
father is "A man who has begotten a child or children" (Webster's 493). The father I have known for
the past 18 years meets this definition, but falls extremely short of my definition of a dad.
James Bond was born to a working class single mom in the run down crime infested neighborhood
of Lincoln Park in San Diego. Growing up, my father never had the luxuries that kids have today.
From a very early age, he worked a full time job rather then attend school, to help support his six
younger siblings. As a result my father wasn't a scholar, but what he lacked in formal education he
made up for with his knowledge of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then when he was about ten feet from me, my mother jumped in front of him all the while trying to
calm him down. Realizing he couldn't reach me from that distance, he grabbed a glass ash tray off
the table next to him. Hurling it at me, he missed my head by a fraction of an inch.
My father's abusive and alcoholic lifestyle was not what I think a normal dad's should be. My father
drank at least a case of beer a day. By the time he turned forty–five the combination of stress and his
lifestyle caught up with him. He suffered a heart attack, but surviving this heart attack only caused
more abuse. Depression set in and for the next year and a half, he became meaner and more
physically abusive than ever. I was not allowed to speak with my mouth full at the dinner table. If I
did my father would slap me. After his heart attack, he would find reasons to make me talk. My
father would wait until I took a bite of food, and then he would ask me a question. If I answered
him, I spoke with my mouth full, so I got slapped. If I didn't answer him, I didn't "Speak when
spoken to," so I got slapped either way. All day and night I would sit in my room just to avoid
crossing him in the house. If I was unlucky enough to pass him, any conversation we had turned into
a two–hour Nazi lecture followed by a street fight in my living room. His lectures consisted of him
screaming two inches from my face, and bringing up things that happened years earlier. I can't

Significant Moments In My Life

  • 1. Significant Moments in My Life Although I have no remembrance of my early years of life, I would say that I do know my roots pretty well; I was born in a Caribbean country named Dominican Republic on April 6, 1992, which makes me sixteen years old. I am the fourth child out of six, making me the youngest out of the three girls. The basic information only situates my position in life but does not define me. I am a simple young lady that follows a routine on a daily basis. I have done small but significant things in my previous years that have shaped who I am today. The definition of a simple life for me is following a routine that does not include partying every week, going to the movies on the weekends or just spending time with friends. My life might not be as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I mentioned before I enjoy playing sports especially volleyball. This year was my third year playing volleyball but it was my first time ever being a captain. Being a captain for the first time was a really good experience for me because not only did I feel as a role model to the newcomers but I was able to show and develop leadership. During the first few days of me trying to get used to the fact of being captain I was under pressure of always having to do good so the teammates would follow, I later understood that I didn't have to be perfect, that as long as I showed commitment and encouragement it was enough. While understanding what a captain was supposed to do I realized that I was showing leadership and being a role model to my little brothers too. I show leadership to my little brothers by always completing my homework and doing well in school and influencing them to do the same. "I want to have lots of trophies like you" Alex, one of the twins, said to me before going to bed one night. Hearing him say those words to me made me realize that he looks up to me and that I am one of their role models, which I have to make right decisions for them to follow. Being their role model has helped me in my daily life to make right reasonable decisions; it makes me think second thought before I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Social Media Analysis: Crossfit As I think about this project and try to brainstorm some ideas as to what i would like to promote, I get very excited and surprisingly cant wait to get started on this project as it will be on something of my choice, something I absolutely love and something that can be extremely fun. My first and favorite choice is going to have to be CrossFit. Crossfit is a very competitive sport that involves lifting weights and a cardio/ lifting workout afterwards. I have been doing CrossFit for over 6 years now and I am OBSESSED with it and I try to better myself each and everyday. I would love to be an inspiration to people to maybe want to start something like this or even just workout and eat healthy. The two social media tools that I think will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Maybe set up an online store to raise money for the fallen heroes that recently passed in a helicopter crash in Iraq, that I actually had the honor to be from the same base and serve along side them. Two social media tools that I believe will best promote this store is definitely Facebook and Twitter. My goal for this idea would definitely be to raise as much money for these fallen airmen as they had just recently left their families behind, some of them had little babies and if I can make a difference in these families lives, it would be to raise money so these kids are supported for a long time. Twitter and Facebook would be a big help because again, these posts can be retweeted, shared, commented on and can easily have links for people to click on to be able to donate or spread the word. In the article, "Spotlight on community policing: The benefits of social media", the main purpose in this article is the impact social media has on police officers and really the way they make headlines. "Additionally, social media as a communications tool has been proven to work very well, as noted in a recent report which found that of those surveyed by IACP in 2015, "83.5 percent of agencies state that social media has improved police–community relations in their jurisdiction." (Spotlight on community policing: The benefits of social media 2016). This just shows that if i did open up a fundraising store, word could easily get out with all the social media and the percentage of people using them. Another article i found that is similar to my idea here is "A CLASSIC AMERICAN DEPARTMENT STORE'S RESURGENCE TO GLORY: USING SOCIAL MEDIAAND ONLINE ADVERTISING STRATEGIES TO GENERATE REVENUE", which talks about how retailers strategize how they promote their stores in an online environment and how to improve their revenue. "JCPenney was highly successful with its Facebook page, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Reflection Paper About Stress For this week's essay I had the ability to learn about stress and the different categories that people can fall into. People who experience stress more are categorized as type A people why people who are less prone to these stresses are categorized as type B people. After talking the quiz I learned that I scored a 267. This places me in the low type A range. This was little bit of a surprise to me because I don't consider myself to be an over stressed person. I then thought about what causes me stress and possible ways of being able to change my life style to help lessen the stress I experience. In this essay I am going to share about what some of my major stresses are, how I reduce stress and finally I will share a time when I was more of a type A person than a type B person. When it comes to what stresses me in life it is the normal things at many college students experience. I often find myself worrying about my grades and if I am doing well in school. One major thing that I often find myself stressing over is if I am on track to graduate in a decent amount of time. I understand that college is not something that can be finished over night but I always want to make sure that I am moving at a decent pace to ensure that I wont be here for ever. To help reduce this stress I often check my degree audit report to ensure I am on track. Another way I cope with this concern is by making sure I talk with my advisors when it comes time to make my schedule for the next semester. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. My Personal Statement On My Life I would like to start to be kinder to others, find more time to focus on myself and who I am, and finally, I want to be more positive and stop complaining. Throughout life, I was raised to do well in school and that 's my main focus. I was pushed to get good grades and to forget the rest. Now that my high school career is coming to an end I have more time for some self change. I want to spend less time focusing on what others want and what I want. I 'm told many times I could be nicer to others and stop complaining as much. I tend to want to do what others think is best and not what I think is best for me. So those are just a few ways I wish to change and ways I want to improve myself. Throughout life I haven 't treated people the best of my ability. In school, I had a very self involved attitude. I would have rather done everything myself, and I have no patience for when others bother me. I want to try to focus on the positive qualities people have. I want to smile more and be nice to strangers. I think these changes would make me be a better person. Learning to care about others feelings and take into account that everyone is different and we all need to be viewed different. A big saying my mom has always said is, "we don 't know what 's happening in someone else 's life so just be kind to everyone you come in contact with." In today 's society we smile less and are rude way more than we are kind. If we stopped and started just smiling a little more who knows whos ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Descriptive Essay About Going To The City Leaving home to come to a city so far away for college was one of the hardest decisions that I've ever been faced with. I was excited at first, but when the time came around of my leaving, nervousness started to come the surface. I was excited because this would be the opportunity for me to spread my wings and leave the nest, but I was nervous because I had never been so far away from my family. I had always been in close proximity of their reach. I was nervous because I would no longer be able to just run home and hide from my problems, I would have to face the real world, I would have to face the things I've been sheltered from my whole life. My decision changed on the regular basis, I never really had a set plan although I had visited the University of Cincinnati multiple times and I had traveled around the city and I fell in love with it. I never saw myself moving across the city because of how sheltered I was but I knew that I needed to break away. A day came where I decided to devote time to calculate the costs of each school to see which one would fit my financial budget. I liked how the University of Cincinnati's tuition was relatively cheaper than my initial top choices. The final straw of making my decision was that the city itself as well as the school was very diverse, which gave me a sense of belonging. I gathered enough information to make me want to come to the University of Cincinnati, but I didn't gather enough information on calculating the costs. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She is the most important person in my life and I honestly don't know what I would do without her. Her smile could make anyone's day just by looking at it. Many people often tell us we look alike or like sisters and it just flatters her. She has short light ash brown hair and brown eyes. She is a bit taller than me, and her skin color is more of a pale white. I also have ash brown hair and brown eyes, but I'm more of a tannish color. I don't really like going out unless it's for an occasion but I don't go out just because. I think another reason I wasn't ever one of those crazy teenagers that partied all the time was because of my parents. They didn't raise me like that and it just isn't me. I'm glad my parents raised me how they did. They were a bit strict but they would let me hangout with my friends when I wanted to, but I had a curfew. I had to give them my phone when it was time to go to bed so I wouldn't stay up late. We had a certain amount of time we could watch TV or be on the laptops. I remember crying of anger because I had to give them my phone and I wanted to stay up and text my friends because no one else got their phones taken away, just me. Even if at the time it would make me extremely mad I'm glad they did it. I know little things like that impacted my life and made me who I am. Now I don't even watch TV anymore I don't even really have time for it. I work 2 jobs and am a full time student at MCC. Of course you remember Ms. Baker's precious rats, Sycorax and Caliban. It was back in 1967 at Camilo Junior High when Sycorax and Caliban disappeared. Poor Holling was cleaning out the rats' cage when they escaped. Sycorax and Caliban were as fast as lightening as they ran off. The school year was ending and the rats have not been found. Well fast forward to the year 1997, and the rats are still missing. Many things have changed since 1967. The principal and all the other teachers are now grandparents or dead. • 15. My Experience In A Restaurant Looking back, I can still recall the countless days that I spent in my family's restaurant. For twelve hours every single day of the week, I spent the majority of my time alone at a corner table. My mom was always occupied with leading the stream of faces, pouring through the doors, to their tables and attending to their needs. On the other hand, my dad would be busy operating the large woks, rounded cooking pans, over scorching red flames in order to keep the food trays in front of the kitchen doors filled. Even though my parents were always around me, I had to spend most of my time by myself. I would spend the dull lengthy periods I had doodling on menus, building with Legos and crafting action figures out of eating utensils and rubber bands. Although I came up with many activities to shorten the long days, my constantly changing thirst for entertainment could not be quenched. I remembered one day; I ran into the back of the restaurant to complain to my dad. I told him that the parents of other kids have jobs as well, yet they still spend time with their kids. and, it was not fair for me to have my parents to say that they were too busy to see my drawings and praise my creations. Fatigued and sweaty, my dad briefly stepped back from the heat of the woks and said, " make use of the opportunities that you have now so that you won't regret it in the future". Not surprisingly, I was a dumb little kid and I stormed out of the kitchen with clenched fists, teary eyes, red face ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

British the well advantage people with the upper hand. George Washington, leading us, into a great battle in history. I felt like giving up, rather than trying and risking my life. I knew I couldn't stop, the inspiring, motivating, independent Washington couldn't make me give up, he was too good. I was inspired, with his words of speech and his whisk hair like snow. His outfit, flowing in the sharp winds of the soon to be defeated. We were the underdogs and had to make an upset. We had a disadvantage in every way, but we can't give up now. It was an inspiration for our people striving to the end and taste that warm flavor of victory. It pumped my heart with determination. I knew it was a time to win and couldn't stop now. It was time to make a difference, it was time for an upset. It was inspiring words coming out of Washington's mouth. Spitting words of Thomas Paine, motivating us with every word. An inspiring speech and an amazingly motivating, pep talk. Washington delivered these inspiring because everyone was leaving, just like I was thinking of. I didn't , me and Washington would stick side by side in this cold night with the winds jabbing at us like glass, as if a thousand crystals exploding in our faces. The view of each other dissolving in these winds. I knew I couldn't quit I would either taste warm, sweet victory, or leave with some awful rotten defeat. It was the time to stand we were motivated out of our feet after that pep talk, it is time to make a change, it is time to stand together and show the British a true alliance of men. It was our time, our time not to be the underdogs, we might as well be, but at least we have the momentum on our side. It was that pep talk bursting through our brains with inspiration, it was our time for some glory, it was our time for change. It was as if we went nothing to everything through words of speech. • 25. My Favorite Place At The Lisbon Lepper Library First of all, community service elicits compassion and understanding otherwise difficult to view in everyday life. When volunteering to help organizations, causes, or people one 's time is not being used for just a singular outcome but several diverse establishments. Not only do efforts aid in promoting positive impacts in one 's society but also in one 's own character. I frequently chose to volunteer at the Lisbon Lepper Library, a public library where copious amounts of people choose to spend their free time, because I was able to aid in various departments and interact with diverse groups of patrons. My favorite place to contribute to in the library was the Children 's Department due to the enthusiasm and need apparent in those patrons. I had the honor of meeting hundreds of children through my volunteer work, all of which carried unique burdens but always wore a smile and were able to put one on me too. Two young girls in particular were inspiring to me. These girls each came from difficult circumstances; yet, when together appeared to never have experienced a worry. Although, I would be helping the department put on educational programs for the patrons there was not a time when those two girls did not find a way to teach me something too. • 27. Analysis Of There Will Come Soft Rains The text, There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury tells the story of a robotically controlled house left standing in a post–apocalyptic world. Every day, life continues as normal for the house until it meets the same fate of "death" as it catches on fire and burns to the ground, leaving only one voice behind. This story made me think about how, even though you may not be there, time still passes on and does not stop for anybody. Throughout the text, it continues to refer to the time of day it is, and elaborates on how the day is progressing, like one of the first lines, "Tick–tock, seven o'clock, time to get up, time to get up, seven o'clock!" Everything, apart from the fact there is nobody around, seems completely normal, and a routine is still kept in place. The house continues on as if what's going on is completely normal, as it knows no different from what it has been programmed to do. The writer makes me think about how we need to make the most of our time on our Earth. We never know when our last day will be, and our lives are honestly quite fleeting. I personally know that I don't like or enjoy coming out of the routine I have set for myself on a day to day basis, although this makes a lot of my days feel the same in an overall sense. The message about how time won't, and can't, stop for anybody, and how life is so fragile, makes me think about how, maybe, I am not living to my fullest potential. This is the case for a lot of other people as well, and is a wide ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Well's version of the future in, The Shape of Things to come, and that is, in simplest form, Utopia. Well's describes a world in which all it's people are completely unified on every level of existence. The natural instinct humans feel in our present day to achieve money, power, and status does exist in this Well's future. The people of 2106 are a universally educated population whose main focus and purpose is taking care of one another, the planet, and their continued development as a human race. However, the steps taken to achieve this type of world, was not an easy one. Well's explains the beginning of this process as he speaks of a time when representatives from ... They enjoy being able to help others by using their skills as they appreciate what others can do for them. This society Well's speaks of, is on all levels nearly perfect. If H.G. Well's asked me to come and live in this future, I would without a doubt take him up on his offer. This place he speaks of seems so peaceful, almost like a paradise realized. However, the time that came right before this future, before the 'Declaration Of Megeve' is one I would most definitely pass up. I could not imagine being denied certain desires or being kept so busy with my work that I was unable to spend some time thinking or dreaming. Yet, as I reflect on what I have read and learned from Well's and Raven about this future, a song keeps playing in the back of my mind. The song is "Imagine" written by John Lennon during a time our world was in turmoil. It seems this song perfectly explains this future. In this future, there is no religion so there is no belief of heaven or hell. There are no countries to defend, so there are no wars to fight. There are no material possessions that can't be acquired by everyone, so there is no need for greed. All that exists is a brotherhood of all man–kind, the world is as one. But it's up to you whether you evade them or let them strike you down. Bricks are just one of the obstacles a person will face, the biggest one being the wall, where the bricks come from. Any metaphorical wall is easy to climb over, it's that there are plenty of barriers you need to overcome before you can face the wall. This bothers me, as it shows me that the wall is always coming back to be in front of you. I get home to find my Mum's absenteeism. Arrrgh, this is vexatious. I figured the biggest challenge preventing my happiness is school work. It drains up a lot of my time and my parents are so obsessive over me getting good grades. I then start to realise how now that primary school is over, more of my time is put into school work so I'm less happy. What makes me happy is being with my neighbours, my real friends, NOT my "friends" from school. These are the type of butterflies you get when you are about to race, or before you race. They make you swim faster, and want to throw up. In the end, they are just like any other nerves you get before any big event in general. "Come on girls let's go!!" , my dad said loudly. "Coming!", I replied. And just like that two of my sisters and I were whisked away to my swim meet. The air smelled like salty chlorine. A smell I had gotten used to over the years. Though the air was dense and humid, I had a sinking feeling that the pool would be as cold as ice. I walked into the student section, and claimed my spot on the bleachers/pool deck. This swim meet wasn't any special, but for some reason I more nervous than any swim meet I had done that year. " MSA warm ups are starting now!", my coach yelled so everyone could hear. It was like a stampede. 100 swimmers or so, getting into 7 lanes. All on top of each other. Splash!! I dove into the water, and I almost froze. The water was freezing just as I had suspected. Warm ups make me more nervous, but we have them for good reason. We swam, and swam, and swam some more. Finally we had finished, and as soon as I got out of the water I ran straight for my warm, dry towel. My first race wasn't for awhile so I made use of my time. The town was a homogenous community and relied on two major industries for employment a famous t–shirt coined the catchphrase "Will the last one to leave turn off the lights?" Mike Van Milligan was introduced to the town in 1993 as the city manager and he was expected to lead the community in change. The city has come a long way in 20 years from almost depression thanks to the concepts of Van Milligan whose methods are similar to Kotter's and Cohen's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Van Milligan said he could only do this by establishing what he was about individually, then clearly communicating the expectations on this vision to every employee within the city (Cohen, 2005, p. 65). Van Milligan immediately started his change initiative within the city organization. He wanted to make the government aspect of this vision more effective and efficient. To do this he cut a layer of bureaucracy out. This layer consisted of seven upper management level jobs. By doing this, he streamlined the organization and started building his guiding team, which consisted of the people that needed to be a part of the change and those that wanted to change. Readiness for Change (Jeremy Jensen) Van Milligan next required each department to justify their existence based on whether they could do the job effectively and efficiently. All levels of employees were encouraged to be involved in this process. According to Van Milligan it went over like "a lead balloon". Employees recognized something needed to be done, the economic stress was hitting home, and they were seeing and feeling the urgency to change (Kotter & Cohen, 2002, p. 10). Even though this urgency existed, the employees were comfortable and resistant to the change. It really came down to changing their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 57. My Experience At School I awoke on an early morning, my mother tugging on me. I ask, "What are you doing?" in a tired voice. She replied, "Get ready, Armani!" That's when I remembered, that today was the big day, where I would go to school for my first time. In a hurry, I jumped out of my bed and put on my clothes. I've never seen my parents so happy before, and I was confused why. I wasn't quite sure what "school" was, but I knew it was a place where kids like me went and I will learn things. Thinking about it, scared me on how my experience was gonna be for the first time in my life. After I ate, gotten dressed and ate my breakfast, we went into the car, on our way to school. My whole family came on the trip, eagerly in the car. "Are you excited?!", my parents asked me, but I did not know what to say, because I did not know what to be excited for, and that did not make me feel any better. We arrived at school, and it was called Bret Harte. The school looked huge from the outside, with a long fence surrounding the school, and a glass front door. My legs felt shaky, and I was even more paranoid! My family and I walked to room 28, waiting for me to take a step in my classroom. As I walked in the classroom, my parents and siblings waited outside the door. As I stepped inside the classroom, I met my teacher. Her name was Mrs. Berg, and she had bright red hair. "Hi, nice to meet you Armani!", surprised how she knew my name I said, "Hi", in a shy voice, and she giggled. "Take a name tag on the desk, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We deal with this time change every year, but do we really know why we do it, or how it even started? There were two known people who had ideas for creating a time change. One of the first suggestions for daylight savings was given by George Vernon Hudson. He proposed a two hour time change to the Royal Society of New Zealand, but it was not received. William Willet from Britain gave the United Kingdom a recommendation to change the time by 80 minutes. He thought that if the time was changed every spring and fall, people would be able to enjoy the outside light more. His proposal was around 10 years after ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 61. Mike Iaconelli Research Paper One of my biggest role models that I try to imitate is the crazy and funny, Mike Iaconelli. Mike Iaconelli known as "ike" is a big hit in professional fishing that sticks out more than any other fisherman there is out there. He's a one hilarious man on and off TV. He is that type of person that actually loves what he does and tries his best at every tournament, even when he does his simple practices for the tournament that coming up. Ike is one of the main factors that draw in angler to try to become professional or even elite. When ike catches a fish he doesn't just sit there and say "yeah I caught one finally", no no no, he's yelling at the top of his lungs "YEAAAHHHH". Being funny is a natural talent that ike does have very well. Ike is always on top of his game being the funny one out of the bunch. When ike is on TV, you'll know, trust me. I could be sitting there watching the Bassmaster classic, not watching the TV and know that Iaconelli is the one on the screen at that moment he's on. He's the "life of the party" everywhere he goes unless he's screaming at the top of his lungs that he got one in the boat. He may have ended up in sixth place in the Bassmaster classic, but that doesn't mean that he has a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One thing that not much fisherman does like he does is let people take polls on funny stuff in his life. Like one recent poll he had was shave his head or his beard. • 63. Describe My Grandmother When I was younger, I lived down the street from my grandma and grandpa. I would go to their house all the time. Whenever I went to their house, I would watch TV or movies, eat junk food, and if the weather was nice I would go outside and play in the hose water. But my all time favorite thing about going to their house was when they would swing me back and forth in a blanket. I would lay on the blanket and they would each grab an end. I'm guessing it might have looked like a hammock, I wouldn't know though, since I was in the blanket. They swung the blanket back and forth. The best part, was when they swung the blanket onto the couch, it was like I was flying, even though it was only for half a second. My grandma's name is Trevalee Whistler, before her and my grandpa got married, her last name was Claflin. Her birthday is November 27th, which is a week after mine. She was born in St. Mary's, Ohio, and has one brother. Her only child is my dad. My grandma is special to me because she is one of the most loving, caring, and funny people I know. When my grandma is with her friends, around my dog, or when we play card games together, there is no other word to describe her except funny. One day when my grandma was at my house, my dog, Sheldon, walked up to her. At the time she didn't like dogs very much. She tried to shoo Sheldon away, but he isn't the best listener. Though her older sister and I don't talk anymore for obvious reasons, I'd rather not and won't be mentioning. For the purpose of this essay, I won't be mentioning their actual names instead we'll refer to the older sister as Jane and the younger sister as Dawn. Dawn came to me to talk about concerns she had for Jane. She also came to talk about issues that were going on in her life. Dawn was going through an abundance of problematic situations. She talked about how her divorced parents were behaving, specifically her father. They have joint custody of her. Jane is living with their father while dawn is living with their mother and visits her father's house every other weekend. She talked about how it was tough for her because she genuinely missed her sister, and didn't get to visit with her much. She also mentioned that when she did, her sister was always with a girl we'll call Laney. Laney was living with Jane and their father. Laney was the last person that family needed to be staying with them. She a pretty lousy person to be completely honest with you. She's a thief and a former addict; thankfully she's clean now. However, back then she was far from it. Laney was plain trouble for that family. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I felt that Dawn shouldn't have been worried about the things she was. My mom woke me up so I could get ready for school. I got out of bed and went downstairs. My mom had set my clothes out for me earlier. I got changed and went into the kitchen. I ate breakfast and got my backpack ready. It was about 8:00 when I walked out the door. My dog, Buddy, was lying by the door. I went up to him and said goodbye. After that, my mom took me to school. When I arrived at school I sat with my friends. We had to wait to be dismissed. We talked about random things to pass the time. When we were dismissed I went to my classroom. Everyday we started by sharing. We would always sit together in the front of the room. After that, the day continued like normal. When it was time to go I got my stuff and left. I walked out of the school and looked for my mom. She was waiting for me in the car. I got into the car and we went straight home. I said hello to Buddy like I did everyday. When I was done I went inside to set down my stuff. I was sitting in the kitchen when my dad came up to me. I wasn't prepared at all of what he was going to say. "Carly, it's time we put Buddy to rest." My father told me. I nodded trying to hold back my tears. I knew that this would happen at some point, but I wasn't ready for it. • 71. Personal Narrative Essay On Ice I have always wondered what my mom thought as she saw me on the bench playing with my little hockey stick. I think she knew that I would have an unconditional love for the ice. I would sit on the cold metal bench in my Old Navy brown leather jacket zipped all the way up with my hockey stick in one hand and some type of food in the other. As my mom was on the ice teaching her lesson , I would hear the grinding and chopping up the ice as the skaters zoomed past me leaving a cold gust of air behind them that would smack my already cold cheek. Now, that feeling is so refreshing because it brings me back to my little days and how I proudly spent most of my childhood. As a kid, I would spend my days sitting on the cold metal bench of the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. My mom would give lessons there. The first time I saw my mom give a lesson, I could feel the connection between her and the ice. I couldn't see it then but now as I look back I can see it. We arrived at the rink and I was so excited. My mom put my skates on and my CCM helmet with the black cage and we headed out. My first step on the ice was the best feeling ever. I now realized why my mom was so happy when she was out there. I felt a connection right away and I loved it. The Importance Of Preserving Items Of A 500 Year Time Capsule The idea of preserving items in a 500 year time capsule may seem like an amazing idea but it is actually rather difficult to find objects worthy of being put in it. Certain items from my infancy would have to be included because certain events that happened back then have helped to make me the person who I now today. My infant life was not one full of idealistic situations due to my birth parents who were unfit to take care of me, and I am thankful I call my aunt and uncle my mom and dad. I have had the metal pin and screws kept in a small, green, and opaque package that was given to me by the doctor who removed the pin. Firstly, I would want to include that in the time capsule because it would tell a story of how my life was changed. It would tell the story of how a life was trusted in the hands of two individuals, and they took that life and disregarded how a baby should be properly taken care of. I do not know why they said that it was an accident when it clearly was not, but it makes me sick to think that anybody could lie to their own child about something that still affects them to this day. Another reason I want to include the pin, is because it would tell people how I became a stronger person. Having multiple surgeries itself is something unfortunate to live through. All the physical scars I have remind me of the horrible events that transpired when I was very small, but at the same time I think of them as battle scars. They show that I had the determination to not give up on life, and to prevail regardless of all the obstacles that plagued my life. • 75. Gress : Techniques For Managing Stress Stressed? I understand how it feels. There's always too much to do, yet another deadline, are too many people demanding your attention, and of course, money is always a little tight. These are all examples of things that cause stress that everyone goes through every single day. They all effect people in different ways. Some people react a lot more extremely than others and some people are able to shrug it off a little easier. Most people find different activities to help deal with their stress levels to make them more manageable, so they can continue with their day to day life. In "Techniques for Managing Stress", Paul M. Insel and Walton T. Roth say, "People who manage stress effectively are not only healthier, but they also have more time to enjoy life and accomplish their goals" (1). The rest of this essay with focus on some of my day to day stressors and the remedies I have developed to help me relieve my stress. Work, money, and time are three of my biggest stressors that put me in my worst moods. My stress relieving activities consist of woodworking projects and playing disc golf. My number one stressor, like most people, is work. A lot of people strongly dislike their jobs, so I know that I am not alone with this. There are a couple of things I have to deal with at work that trigger my stress. The biggest is the mismanagement I have to deal with on a daily basis. The definition of a father is "A man who has begotten a child or children" (Webster's 493). The father I have known for the past 18 years meets this definition, but falls extremely short of my definition of a dad. James Bond was born to a working class single mom in the run down crime infested neighborhood of Lincoln Park in San Diego. Growing up, my father never had the luxuries that kids have today. My father's abusive and alcoholic lifestyle was not what I think a normal dad's should be. My father drank at least a case of beer a day. By the time he turned forty–five the combination of stress and his lifestyle caught up with him. He suffered a heart attack, but surviving this heart attack only caused more abuse. Depression set in and for the next year and a half, he became meaner and more physically abusive than ever. I was not allowed to speak with my mouth full at the dinner table. If I did my father would slap me. After his heart attack, he would find reasons to make me talk. My father would wait until I took a bite of food, and then he would ask me a question. If I answered him, I spoke with my mouth full, so I got slapped. If I didn't answer him, I didn't "Speak when spoken to," so I got slapped either way.
