2. In education the term assessment refer to the wide variety of
methods or tools that educator use to measure and document
students learning process, skills or educational needs.
Assessment is an interactive process between students and faculty
that informs faculty how well their children are learning what they
are teaching.
Assessment also are used to identify individual students weakness
and strength so that educators can provide specialized academic
support educational programing or social serves.
3. Formative Assessment
Formative assessment is on going assessments.
Formative assessment are in process evaluation of
students learning that are typically administered
multiple times during a unit course or academic
program
Formative assessment are usually not scored or
graded and they may take a variety of forms, more
formal quizzes and assignment to informal questioning
techniques and in class discussion with students.
4. Summative Assessment
Summative assessment are used to evaluate students learning at
the conclusion of a specific instructional period typically at the
end of unite, course, semester program or school year.
Summative assessment are typically scored and graded tests
assignment or projects that are used to determine whether
students have learned , what they have were expected to learn
during the defined instructional period.
To check over all performance of the students and can reward
with numbers or grades.
To promote or demote students in other class.
It usually given at the end of program or course.
6. Definitions of Formative Assessment Types
Class discussions: Classroom discussions offer students
opportunities to test their ideas and opinions against
the ideas and opinions of their peers.
Checklists: A check list is a list of all the things that
you need to do, information that you want to find out.

A list of questions, usually printed, submitted for
replies that can be analyzed for usable information:
• Observations: The action or process of closely observing or
monitoring something or someone. For example "she was
brought into hospital for observation“
• Conferences: A formal meeting of people with a shared
interest, typically one that takes place over several days.
• An interview is a formal meeting at which someone
is asked questions in order to find out if they
are suitable for a job or a course of study.
8. • Home woks: Homework refers to the tasks assigned to
students by teachers that are meant to be completed
during non-school hours or independent study time during
the school day.
• Activities: The teacher's fundamental task is to get
students to engage in learning activities that are likely to
result in achieving the intended learning outcomes.
Meaningful activities engage students in active,
constructive, intentional, authentic, and cooperative ways.

10. Definitions of Summative Assessment types
• Written test: written test is the test in which students express their
ideas in own words or written test is type of exam in which students
write descriptive question on worksheet or answer sheet.
• Creative assignments : creative assignments are the assignment which
assigned by teacher to the students and students write in own ideas
and own ability.
11. • Presentations : An activity in which someone shows, describes, or explains
something to a group of people. : the way in which something is arranged,
designed, etc. the act of giving something to someone in a formal way or in a
ceremony. A speech or talk in which a new product, idea, or piece of work is
shown and explained to an audience.
• Portfolios : A student portfolio is a compilation of academic work and other
forms of educational evidence assembled for the purpose of (1) evaluating
coursework quality, learning progress, and academic achievement. (2) determining
whether students have met learning standards or other academic requirements for
courses, grade-level.
• Written reports: A report is a document that presents information in an
organized format for a specific audience and purpose. Although summaries of
reports may be delivered orally, complete reports are almost always in the form of
written documents.
12. • Projects/Products : Project Based Learning is a teaching method in
which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended
period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging
and complex question, problem, or challenge.
• Practical examinations: A distinction is usually made between practical
and practicable. Practical refers to a person, idea, project, etc., as being
more concerned with or relevant to practice than theory: he is a very
practical person; the idea had no practical application. Practicable
refers to a project or idea as being capable of being done or put into
effect: the plan was expensive, yet practicable.
• Final examinations: A final examination, annual, exam,
"final interview" or final is a test given to students at the end of a
course of study or training. Although the term can be used in the
context of physical training, it most often occurs in the academic
world.
