2. OUR ORIGINAL IDEAS AND HOW THEY
HAVE CHANGED?
• The original song me and Lucy picked to use was imagination by Gordon city this was
because it fitted all the results we received from our pitch to the class and fitted the
questionnaire results we got back. After looking at possible location for our original
video we realised that there could be a lot of possible problems such as weather at the
park and bad lighting in the cinema, also as we don’t know any professional actors
therefore narrative based song and video could maybe give us the result of bad music
video. This was when we finally decided that changing our song choice and music
video idea would be helpful and instead of doing a narrative based video that could
potentially not be the best it could be been we deceided that a performance based
video would give us the best result. Although this was not what our audience said they
wanted a narrative based video is normally only good with real proffesion equipment
and actors/artists.
3. THE NEW SONG WE HAVE PICKED AND
WHY?
• The new song we chose was jack by breach, this was the song we finally picked as it still
fitted all the feedback we got form the audience except the lyrics was not meaningful or
did not tell a story therefore the music video would have been very hard to do a narrative
based video to, which is what we wanted. As we couldn’t find any plain big rooms that
would give us a professional look for a performance based video for someone to dance and
sing, we then thought green screen would be the best to use throughout our music video
as it will give us the plain background we want. After this brain storm we decided trial the
green screens to see how the shots would come out. The first results didn’t come out well
due to the fact the green screen was extremely creased and not flat and also the lighting in
the room we used was very poor, creating loads of shadow but we still believed it could
work if we fixed these problems. When we used it for the real filming we made sure we
ironed the whole sheet and we used a room with even bright lighting.
4. FEEDBACK FROM AUDIENCE ABOUT
DIGIPAK AND POSTER
The original idea for my digipak always including lips on the front cover. This was because
there was a theme of lips and ice cream throughout our video. After showing the original idea
to the audience it was all approved by them except they said they would change my back
which was of the artist and ice cream. They said I should remove the picture of the artist and
only use the ice cream and have the track list on a plain black background. Once I did this I
also agreed that it made my digipak look a lot more real and not as cramped. For my poster I
only included text, ratings and lips because the picture of ice cream I had were so small they
would of looked odd on a big poster. My original idea for my poster was to have lots of
different sized faded blue lips in the back ground and green or white text on top but after
showing this to the audience for feed back they had an idea that I should change the big lips
in the centre of my poster to a different colour to make the poster more eye catching and fit
my video more. I listened to this advice and changed the colour of the centre lips to a
purple/red making my poster over all more bright and recognisable.
5. FEEDBACK FROM CLASS ABOUT MY
MUSIC VIDEO
After everyone had finished or almost finished their music video the class had a
reviewing lesson to watch everyone’s music video and give them some kind of advice or
feedback with sticky notes. The feed back we got for our music video was mainly positive
and good although there was 1 tip we got. This was that we should use some long shots
instead of mainly close ups, extreme close ups and mid shots, unfortunately this is
something we could not fix as while we was filming the green screen was not long
enough for us to the camera back far enough to get the performer’s whole body in the
shot. We agreed with this advice but because it couldn’t be fixed we have had to made
do with the mixture of shots we have already.
