1. Bank Al Etihad was established in 1978, it is an established name in the Jordanian banking
sector, with 24 branches. I am training in one of their branches, which is located in Madaba at Al
Yarmuk Street-053242296 www.bankaletihad.com.
The campaign concentrated on delivering the message that the institution is committed to
providing the most innovative and professional products to its clients. Bank Al Etihad offers
personal, auto and home loans to individuals as well as savings and current accounts. In addition,
the bank also offers more exotic saving options, such as fixed deposits and prepaid interest
deposit accounts. Moreover, the bank offers debt and credit cards, as well as a variety of online
and mobile banking services.
At Bank al Etihad believes that their people are the most valuable asset. Therefore, it
continuously support them through professional capacity building, career development and a
range of benefits and incentive programs that recognize their needs, allowing them to utilize their
personal skills and capabilities in an environment that stimulates innovation and creativity. The

In Madaba’s branch there are seven employees, including the manager of the branch, cashiers,
their administrator and customer service.
The bank has four main products; loans, deposits, debit and credit cards.
Loans: The loans are divided into three main categories; Etihad Personal Loan is tailored to meet
the diverse expectations. Whether the customers want to overcome unplanned expenses, go on
holiday, or even get married, it is the support to fulfill the customer’s desires, and achieve their
dreams. Housing loan; the customers will have the opportunity to buy or build a house, invest in
a property, or simply renovate and expand their current home. Finally, the auto loan is the ideal
solution to consider. Al Etihad banking facilities will help the customers to choose the right car
which fits their lifestyle.
Deposit: Fixed deposits are held for a minimum of one month. They can be redeemed before
their maturity date but a penalty fee would apply and Certificates of deposits have a fixed interest
rate, and are held for a minimum of three months.
Debit and credit cards: The debit card is a payment card that deducts money directly from a
consumer’s checking account to pay for a purchase. On the other hand, the credit card issued by
a financial company giving the holder an option to borrow funds, usually at point of sale.
2. Every bank has a marketing department, my main role is in this department especially in the
bank’s activities by sitting with customers who want to open a new account and inform them
with the bank’s account and help them in order to choose the best one that suits their needs. I
inform them about three main accounts in the bank. The first one is the Tharaa savings account; a
cash prize of one million JD, Luxurious water view apartments in Ayla Aqaba, a 2015 Mercedes-
Benz G-500, 2015 Lexus LX570s, 2015 Cadillac Escalade, monthly cash prize of 50,000 JD, 4
Gold kilos yearly, Valuable Rolex, Breitling, Cartier, IWC Schaffhausen and Panerai watches
every week, and gold ounces every day. Second, is the Champion savings account; the holder has
the chance to be part of globally-acclaimed sporting events across the world and win an all-
expenses paid trip to attend the most exciting matches of Champions League 2015. Finally the
Ibny savings account; as an Ibny account holder, the customer can create a reliable early-savings
plan that can secure your child’s future, and winning Family trips to Disney Land Paris (trip
includes winner and 3 companions), a child’s full university tuition fees for one winner and
child’s school tuition fees for 24 winners, iPads, PlayStations, and other fun devices every
month. Ascending interest rate starting from 1.75% up to 6.25%, with the condition of depositing
25 JD monthly.
After 6 weeks of training I can say that I have gained more information about the bank and how
it works. And now I will explain more about the details I have written above. First of all, I have
known the bank’s employees more; Zaid Al Bajali the branch’s manager, Omar Abu Hashish the
head of the financial department, in this department there are two employees Sami Haddadin and
Rasha Janini, Niveen Abu Hanna is the Customer relationship management and Manal Najada
helps her.
Niveen Abu Hanna is the one who is responsible for my training (my training officer). Through
my training time I have learned many things such as: speaking and dealing with customers in a
way to help them in opening a new account which I mentioned before; Tharaa, Champion and
Ibny in order to fit with their desires or to update the customer’s accounts. After choosing the
account I start in filling information about the customer, after filling the information I send the
form to Manal so she start to install the data on the system which is called Siebel. Now all the
data is on the system and the account is almost ready, so she gives the customer a card with a
number on it. After that the customer has to go to the customers counters Rasha and Sami to
deposit cash in order to activate the customer’s account. Beside this part of job, I give a hand in
opening the daily mail that comes from the head administration, also I help them in filing and
archiving and I do the records for the imports and exports of documents. Since I have stated the
job I did not face any difficulties and did not receive any bad comments. Till now I am satisfied
in my training and they are satisfied too.
From my own opinion the practical training can provides valuable work experience. It improves
the soft skills of the student; since the student usually need to work in a team, give presentations
and make reports so it helped me in improving my communication skills, written, oral and
presentation skills, also it helped me in working with a team. Beside that it increases the
3. opportunity to get a good job; most of the businesses would prefer someone who has a good
practical experience in the industry over someone who has a good academic record.
Yes, I may think in working with the same institution Bank Al Etihad after graduation; I liked
how the employees are working together like a team, as a bank they try the best and all what they
can do in order to let their customers satisfied in their needs. On the other hand, they listen to the
customer’s positive and negative feedback which can help the bank to improve in customers
service section, in adding things where missing in the bank, or to change the negative and
develop the positive services or products inside the bank. Also I would prefer to work in a
comfortable, clean and safe environment. Besides, I will not forget the kindness of the
employees and the managers, and finally I can say that the practical training was the first step to
improve myself in working, and even if I could not work with the same institution this
experience will help me in the future.
