takes place in a fictional town named Quahog, in the state of Rhode Island and it has 6 main
characters featured in every episode. Who are Peter and Lois Griffin the parents, Meg, Chris, and
Stewie the children and the talking pet dog Brian. This comedy is a very popular one and now airs

Death and grief are common themes in literature and entertainment as a result of their presence
throughout history. These themes create a tie between the most ancient texts and modern pop
culture. An example of this is Gilgamesh and Riverdale. In the ancient Sumerian narrative,
Gilgamesh by Herbert Mason, Gilgamesh, a ruthless king deals with the death of his newfound
friend, Enkidu. Before, Gilgamesh did not care for his people. He forced brides to sleep with him,
and did not take care of the great walls his subjects took so long to make. On the other hand, Enkidu
grew up in the forest with the animals, and learned to protect and respect all beings. Both
maintained their strength and friendship until Enkidu reached his disastrous fate. In the modern TV
show, Riverdale by Rob Seidenglanz, Cheryl Blossom grieves for her twin brother, Jason. The two
were inseparable from birth, and their entire town was aware. Similarly to Gilgamesh, Cheryl was
unsympathetic and disliked by her peers. Jason, like Enkidu, was more responsible and
compassionate. In both Gilgamesh and Riverdale, characters learn to cope with the loss of a
meaningful person in their life and ultimately experience change as a result.
The friendship between Gilgamesh and Enkidu, as well as the attachment between Cheryl Blossom

When I was in middle school, I first discovered Family Guy late at night while I was channel
surfing in my hotel room. Usually, cartoons are never shown at night, simply because most kids are
asleep by that time. I didn't find anything decent, until I saw this cartoon. I figured it was for
children, but I after I saw the theme song, I second guessed that. I continued to watch the show and
even though it clearly had adult humor, I still continued to watch it, because I found it hilarious.
There are a lot of shows, like Family Guy that have people take in so much offense, because it is
only seen for comedic purposes. I will be covering the cruel broadcasting tactics that Family Guy
was placed in with the FOX channel, due to its low ratings, adult humor and sexual themes, as well

In 1971, New York Times columnist Fred Ferretti wrote an article about a new television series
called All in the Family. Ferretti asked, whether or not if racism and bigotry were considered funny
and he concluded that it was not and as a result believed that the show was lacking good taste.
Apparently, the television viewers of America disagreed. Running from 1971 to 1979, All In The
Family wasn't the first television series to tackle major issues on a major network, but what was
innovative about the series, was that is that it hewed its situational comedy from topical issues, and
it explored them through characters we got to know and cared about every week. Simply put, All in
the Family wasn't just a great situational comedy; it as was an ongoing national conversation rooted
in well–written, well–acted and multifaceted characters.
In 1969, a young comedy writer named Norman Lear was given approval by CBS to create an
American version of the popular British sitcom Till Death Do Us Part. Produced and developed by
Lear, this concept of a sitcom about a blue–collar family would eventually become, All in the

The Effects Of Television Violence On Children
Television has become one of the most, if not the most, used form of entertainment for all ages.
Every TV show has some kind of age limit whether it's rated G or R, it's not always easy for parents
to moderate what their children are watching. Young children are very moldable, not only by the
people around them, but what is on TV. I have conducted an experiment to see how much violence
and aggression are in everyday television shows that children are likely to watch. I have watched
three different half hour TV shows, tallying the amount of aggressive, and prosocial behaviors that
occur on the shows. The first show watched was a typical Saturday morning TV show, SpongeBob.
The second show watched is a prosocial TV program, Sesame Street. The third show watched is an
adult cartoon, Family Guy, which is meant for adults but a high population of children are the
audience. The independent variable of this experiment is the different levels of each show's
aggression or prosocial behaviors. The dependent variable is the aggression or prosocial level of the
TV show, since I have no child to study for this project. This experiment very much relates to
another experiment called the Bobo Doll experiment. Children in the experiment are from ages 3–6
are either shown an aggressive video of the Bobo doll beaten, or a video with nothing aggressive.
The results showed that the majority of children who were shown the aggression video imitated the

"All in the Family" differs from show of today in many ways. The many derogatory and racist
terms, used primarily by Archie Bunker, would not be able to said in a script for a modern–day
television show. Words and terms used to describe people of any non–American race or people in
general would be seen as non–politically correct. The common racism theme throughout the show
would degrade the idea of American equality, which is a vital necessity in our growing nation. The
show also mocked religion, referring to a burning cross and "roasting marshmallows over it." This
kind of comment would create a national eruption of offended individuals. Today's television shows
are reviewed to portray a politically correct message, or a decline in reputation will occur for
anyone involved with the show. While "All in the Family" greatly differs from modern American
television shows, it also contains some similarities. The show portrayed an overall theme of how
people talked and acted in their daily lives compared to a fictional or dramatized movie or television
show. In the 1971 show premier, racial inequality was a common theme in American society. The
way Archie talked about others, and even the disrespect to his son–in–law and mocking of his wife,

Riverdale is an American television program that is based primarily on the Archie comics which
were first released in the 1940's. The comics focus largely on a love triangle between the three main
characters, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, and Archie Andrews. Unlike the television show, Betty
and Veronica see one another as frenemies and are constantly at odds over Archie, who is never at
fault for any of the mishaps that happen. The Archie comics were never big advocates of feminism
and instead focused primarily on Archie and the two female characters invented to fight over him,
cementing the idea that girls are only around to win boys affection. In contrast, Riverdale the
television show focuses on Betty and Veronica as friends instead of frenemies and builds upon the

We see a lot different scenes where the main character Nick second guesses his trust in his friend
Andrew. In one specific scene the character Andrew is helping Nick's girlfriend because she has her
first period. Nick was expecting his girlfriend to meet him at the top of the Statue of Liberty to take
a picture. When she doesn't show up, he starts looking for her and sees her hugging Andrew. He
thinks that something was going on between them and gets mad at his friend and makes a huge deal
out of it. Andrew then eventually explains that he was just helping her because she had her period.
