The film is a supernatural psychological thriller. The protagonist Jamie seeks revenge on her school bullies after years of feeling like an outcast. At a party, the popular girl humiliates Jamie. Walking home alone, Jamie is drugged and possessed by a voodoo man. Her organs are swapped with his as punishment for not being a virgin. The voodoo man's spirit takes over Jamie's body and drives her to kill the popular girl. Jamie's spirit warns her friend Shantelle, who tries to stop the possession by killing Jamie, unintentionally restoring equilibrium.
2. Sub Genre and Tag Line
The subgenre for the film is Supernatural/Psychological and the tag line
is ‘The deal with the devil is the worst kind of deal’.
3. Themes
Revenge: Jamie wants revenge on the people at her school who never
bothered to get to know her or never wanted to be her friend. She
especially wants to get revenge on the most popular girl in her school.
This is because the popular girl was everything that Jamie wanted to be
but no one ever accepted her as anything less than a ‘freak’. So when
Louise invited Jamie to her party she jumped at the chance of going.
However Louise’s true intentions weren’t to be nice and become
friends with Louise. Louise wanted to embarrass Jamie in front of the
whole year, she did this by getting her friends to throw paint over Jamie
when Jamie walked into the party.
4. Inspiration
The main inspiration is American Horror Story, created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk.
The contextual background of their series have been taken into consideration because the
are relatable all over the world. Unsealed was inspired by the storylines in American Horror
Story, they are psychologically challenging and the majority of them have very gruesome
endings. The way suspense is delivered through each episode makes the audience want to
go and watch the next episode and follow onto the next series. Since the show is a great
success I will take a lot of inspirations from it and hopefully create a successful horror
movie that will not only fulfil the codes and conventions but it will be enjoyed by the target
audience.
