"often promise to achieve more than the allocated time and resources allow," (Raddatz, pg. 1–18). This was very apparent in Liberia as a long list of
goals were hoped to be achieved by the TRC. Over the three years the commission was investigating, many began to lose faith and question its
reputation. Things started off rocky, "the TRC sought to collect statements from one percent of the country's population, or approximately 35,000
people. By the end of 2007, despite serious capacity constraints, the Commission had collected and processed over 17,000 statements," (Raddatz, pg.
1–18), far less than what was originally promised. The commission also reportedly faced challenges from within, "infighting, mistrust across the board,
among committee members, between they and the government, they and the UN, they and members of the international community," (Raddatz, pg.
1–18). In the end, the TRC's final report was considered a practical pursuit for Liberians. Government officials of Liberia today believe it has
changed the political landscape for good. Real problems still surround the report and how it handles victims and war criminals. The entirety of the
report is honest in its integrity to seek truth for the people of Liberia. This quote given by a senior advisor for the United Nations Mission in Liberia

Freed Black and White Women in Liberia
In 1822 the American Colonization Society(ACS), emigrated freed black slaves to Liberia located in West Africa, however, during this time the
indigenous had already been living there (Brown, Education in Liberia, 46). Unfortunately, there is not much information on women in the

Many of them were "distrustful of the ACS's slaveholding leadership, many suspected that the movement wanted to remove the free black population in
order to strengthen slavery and that it was part of a larger strategy to strip the free black population of its political influence" (Younger, PLLSA,
242). This mistrust spread rapidly and began to appear on abolitionist newspapers. The ACS wanted to send free blacks to another country so they
wouldn't support freeing other slaves. This resulted in many riots. "The city witnessed recurring anti abolitionist and race riots during the 1830s and
1840s as fears of immediate abolition spread (Younger, PLLSA, 242)." The most well known riot that occurred was he burning of Pennsylvania Hall
in May of 1838 by a white crowd. Pennsylvania Hall was where abolitionists held meetings. White people in Pennsylvania usually didn't involve
themselves in these kinds of actions and they were surprised by all the riots and violence going on. The colonizationialists gained from these riots of
the abolitionist activists rebellions because they "played on white racial fears." Abolitionists were condemned by the the Presbyterian Synod of
Philadelphia who warned that abolishing slavery would "rend the Church and the Union in twain (Younger, PLLSA, 243)." The church feared that if

Ellen Johnson–Sirleaf is the 24th and the present President of Liberia. Born on October 29, 1938, with mixed Gola and German heritage,
Johnson–Sirleaf was educated at the College of West Africa in Monrovia and in the United States before serving in the government of Liberia. Samuel
Doe, an army sergeant who represented the Krahn ethnic group and who later became the first indigenous Liberian head of state, sent Johnson–Sirleaf
into exile in 1980 in a military coup lead.
