- To avoid competition, and students getting upset because they are not
winning, the teacher will make sure that everyone gets all of the
animals in the card.
Assessment: collecting information and reporting your findings
Ask questions: What did you learn today? Can you tell me what your
favorite animal is?
- Observe them.
- Making sure their pronunciation is clear.
Lesson stages:
Lead-in and Presentation
Timing: about 3 minutes.
Students are not used to saying hello, but the Teacher will sing a ‘’Hello’’
Song in order to welcome them to the class.
Development of the sequence of activities
This vocabulary was already taught in the last class. But, it was more
than they could pick up. Moreover, the total of students is 23 and in the
last class, we only had 14 students. Therefore, as a recommendation
from the principal, the teacher will repeat some of the words they
learnt and teach again the ones they could not learn, in a different way.
The teacher will ask them to sit in front of her, and will show the animal
images again. She will ask them: Who remembers this animal? Can
you make the sound? It is a cow! Very good - Avoiding speaking
Spanish as much as possible. She will repeat the name and will make
them repeat after her.
This should not take more than 5 minutes.
To continue, she will ask the students to sit in a circle: Ok! Now we are
going to play a little game. She will give one of the students a little
ball, and they have to pass it to the peer they have on their right. While
they are passing the ball, the teacher will count: One, Two, Threee…
STOP! When the teacher says STOP, the student with the ball will have
to answer a question, such as: OK! Can you tell me what animal is this
Comentado [CZ3]: Good!
Comentado [CZ4]: Use simple direct questions.
Comentado [CZ5]: Please, include lyrics.
Comentado [CZ6]: Context?
You might refer to Old MacDonald and his farm.
Comentado [CZ7]: You may sing the song and elicit the animals
from the children, showing them, inviting them to pretend they are
those animals for instance.
Comentado [CZ8]: Old MacDonald brought a game for us.
4. one ‘’OINK OINK’’. The answer we are looking for is ‘’PIG’’, if the student
does not remember, he or she can stand up and imitate the animal. The
rest of them can help him or her with the name. This should take about
10 minutes.
To finish, the teacher will ask them to sit on in their chair again because
we are going to play BINGO! A bingo card and a pencil will be given to
each student and we will play. The teacher will not say the name in
Spanish, for instance: Ok…! We have the PIG! Who has the PIG? ‘’Oink
oink’’
Closure
We will make sure that all the pencils are where they are supposed to
be and that the class is in order. Students can take home their bingo
cards.
The teacher will say ‘’Bye bye! See you next week!’’
