This project encouraged teachers to improve their creativity and gave them an opportunity to
collaborate, to work in teams, to use ICT more often. Working together the participants of the
project had a chance to deepen their knowledge about the countries of European Union, to create contacts with teachers from other country, tried to learn more, to share their experience, information.
The project has the great influence not only on teachers but on students as well. The interest in
culture, history and customs of other country has increased. Our students have learnt traditional
games of country-partner and also of their own country. Playing traditional shepherds’ games
they improved their skills of healthy lifestyle. Participation in project encouraged students to develop such personal, social and educational competences as communication in mother tongue,
ability to speak foreign language, successful work in teams.
Not only teachers and students of our school but also all community ( students’ parents , grandparents, school workers) participated actively in various competitions, learnt how to play traditional sports and outdoor games of both countries, improved their skills of healthy lifestyle.

The first project meeting
took place in Lithuania,

the meeting was to learn
how to play Lithuanian
traditional games, to involve as more people as
possible into sport activities, to popularize healthy
lifestyle.
During the meeting the
Lithuanian language lesson were given to Portuguese students. Also

but also teams from other
Lithuanian schools,
teams from Latvia and

During this festival there
were a lot of competitions
of various modern sport
events, such as: basketball, football, rugby and
others, but the biggest
attention was paid to
traditional sports and
games. Students played
“Ripka”,-Lithuanian traditional team-game. A team
from Šiauliai Sauletekis
gymnasium was invited to
teach students to play
this game. Coaches of
this team recreated au-
thentic game, made
sticks for this game according ancient technologies and sow folk costumes. A lot of different
traditional games were
played as well, such as

ride to the market”),

storks”) , "Mušt koja" (“Hit
the leg”) and other interesting games.

sports festival there were
organised a lot of other
activities. Portuguese and

They tried to bake bread
according the old recipes

participated in creational
activities, danced Lithuanian folk dances, played

It was with great excitement that the mobility to
Siauliai.
After the selection, and
all the contacts made
with the students interested, the news ran
around the school and
everybody talked about it.
About a month before
going we had a meeting
with all the parents of the
students involved, with
the participation of the
school principal and of
the coordinators of all the
Comenius projects and of
this particular bilateral
project.
There the first information was given as the e
-mail contacts of the Lithuanian hosts. The way
these projects work was
clearly explained, with
particular attention to
details to accommodation
and food. The parents
and students reaction
was very good.
Then at school the students, in several subjects,
got in touch with the reality of the country they
were going to visit.
In the subject of geography they found out where
it was located; in history
they learned about the
history and customs; in
Portuguese and English
they wrote texts and in
ICT they used Google
Earth and made projects
such as a blogue; in PE
they played traditional
games.
A week before departure
date, we held a meeting
to clarify all doubts and
questions parents might
have and to make the
whole mobility trip operational and doable. In this
meeting were present all
the adults accompanying
the students, the school
board of directors that
has always supported the
project.
From there to departure
there were badly slept
nights due to the responsibility we were undertaking taking 20 students in
a mobility across Europe,
for 10 days.
The activity program was
full of diversified and
interesting activities, with
cultural and sports
events, with the highlight
point being the participation in an international
football tournament with
football teams from Latvia, Poland, Byelorussia
and Lithuania. The students were a little bit
older but our school
scored in second; we also
participated in several
other sports events with a
non-competitive character.
Globally, according to our
students, most f them got
actively involved in all the
activities, there no registration of sickness or
lesions or any other problems that couldn’t be
solved properly by teachers, at the time.
It was an extremely worthy mobility and all the
goals set up were well
achieved, it was especially useful because it allowed the students to get
into close contact with
the everyday life and way
of living of another culture quite different from
ours, taking in account
the way of living, food,
work at school and national economy.
We should focus on the
great empathy achieved
with the colleagues from
Lithuania as with our
students and their hosts.
The interaction with such
a reality permitted our
students to obtain a dissimilar vision of their
school, of all they are
offered their conditions
and all the services and
facilities at their disposal
making them more alert
to differences and
learned how to appreciate things a bit more.
