Dear readers,
Our project promoted transnational cooperation between schools from two countries- Portugal and Lithuania. It focused on the important role of physical education of young generations in Europe. Un- healthy life style is one of the major problem of our age. Doing less sport causes some health problems for today’s people. Creating consciousness among pupils was fundamental issue to lessen this growing threat. Our project was aiming to inspire every young person to have healthy bodies by participating in more sport on a regular basis. We wanted to create an energy and enthusiasm for sport through the ob- servation of favourite local teams and through learning new sports and traditional sport games and to encourage young people to do sport. In addition, it gave pupils and teachers from two participating countries an opportunity to work together on a project, to learn about and experience traditional sports and games of the partner country.
Through this we hope the children and teachers learned about their own and others’ sports, games and cultures. The aim was to strengthen the European identity of each school by recognising and celebrating the partners’ cultural similarities and our differences.
We believe that all generations have to work together in order to reach these goals. That is why we in- vited students’ parents and representatives of local institutions to project activities too. This gave youth the opportunity to share their knowledge with the older generations.

2. So, the last stage of the project “Generational link: playing and learning” has almost finished. The time has passed so quick- ly... and the project has given us so many happy moments, so priceless impressions, and the best thing-new friends. And we can say that we all know now not only our coun- tries‘ sports and games , traditions and sportsmen, but we know each other better. Our students and teachers now really want to know about European countries more and want to learn English better, which will help them to know more about other cultures and traditions . Also students of school, their parents, as well as teachers learnt more about healthy lifestyle, healthy eating and the importance of sport in our life.
The main aim of the last stage was to learn more Lithuanian and Portu- guese traditional outdoor games and to complete the creation of the three- language (Lithuanian- English-Portuguese) dic- tionary of expressions and idioms, used in sports competitions, matches and playing out- door games. It was very interesting for students to create this dictionary now, when they already knew a lot of Portuguese words and expressions.
One more important event which happened
during the last stage of the project was additional project meeting in Cuba. Three teachers of our school Lina Kaselienė, Irena Tamošaitienė and Zulfija Guzienė visited our hospitable partners once again to summarise pro- ject results, to prepare final report and, of course, to take part in sports festival . In addi- tion, some sightseeing tours were organised for them, ancient ruins and huge castles impressed everybody very much... But most of all Portu- guese hospitality im- pressed them. As Irena Tamošaitienė said: “ Por- tuguese hospitality was warmer than hot Portu- guese sun”
Every year in our school summer camp for chidren is organised. This year the programme for this camp was called “Let‘s meet summer playing, doing sport and meeting new friends“ and it was for children from socially and economically disad- vantaged families. That‘s why the camp which broadened children‘s outlook was organised for free. Children spent their time at the camp partici- pating in various activities such as going on a picnic, researching nature, visit- ing museums, going on excursions and learning a lot of new things. Also children played actively traditional Portuguese and Lithuanian games
they learned during the school year according Co- menius project „Generational link: playing and learning“. Also they learned how to lead a healthy lifestyle and what healthy food is. One of the most interesting activities during this camp was a picnic near the Pageluve lake, which was organised by the partners of the pro- ject „ Saulės miesto atletik- os klubas” ( The athletic club of the Sun city”). It was a nice place to do sport and to play games and it was a great day full of impres- sions!
The last day of the camp children summarize what they learned and what they did during this week and exchanged their impres- sions!

3. The project “Generational Link: playing and learning”, a Comenius Bilateral Project between Portugal (Agrupamento de Escolas de Cuba) and Lithuanian (Sauliu Vijoliu vidurine mokykla) had the main goal of opening a window of awareness, knowledge and respect among partner's cul- tural differences, to expose a wider path to tolerance, com- munication, corporation work and for students to get con- scious of different European languages, cultural history and moral values.
The motivation for the project was to address the theme of sport in a new and more creative way.
Although many children know that they need to be healthy and sporty some- times this isn’t enough for them to take action and actually lead healthier life- styles, so we hoped that by working towards a common theme, we could and would promote the need for health in another light, encourage and educate the children into how they can be healthy citizens understand- ing the importance of sport in our life. Linked to this is the concept of a healthy environment, it was im- portant that children learnt to look after the world in which they live and to pro- tect it for future genera- tions. This is an area that we felt needed particular emphasis within citizenship education, given the world we live in, at this particular moment in time.
Thus we ensured that all our activities had their goal accomplished and that was
shown in the work pro- duced by the partners and by the new kind of vision students correlated to after the meetings / mobilities.
Getting to be able to trav- el to SIAULIAI and to Cuba had such a profound impact on our students as the success in com- pleting their tasks.
The partners were still able to have a 3rd mobili- ty (which shows a very good rentabilization of money resources and perfect complement and tight work competences and willingness flanked by school and communi- ty).
During this 3rd short mo- bility (teachers from SI- AULIAI travelled to Cuba), we organized a few lose ends and prepared the final report we also met in order to evaluate the project and find a clear way to show it in the re- port mentioned above.
As a final inference we grasped that we were very blissful with the out- comes, goals achieved and people relationships that we were able to es- tablish and consolidate, through sport used as a global language to under- stand the world around us, reminding students of their inner and more per- meant duty as European citizens.
Needless to say that our team of teachers, stu- dents and community (parents and educational staff) operated as a sin-
gle organism, showing solidarity, abnegation and generosity, in all activities undertaken.

A bet that after two years of meetings, exchanges and sharing in such fields as traditional sports, outdoor games, famous sportsmen can be considered largely won. Won because in each participating institution, a part of our cultures, our histories is now accessible to everybody in terms of achievements . Won because hundreds of students, from 12 to 18 years old, met through their active participation in such various achievements as a booklet of traditional sports and games,
three-language ( Lthuanian-English-Portuguese) dictionary and a website accessible far beyond the circle of our partnership. Won because our individual wealth has become a collective wealth and even more important because despite of our differences, we were able to find things that have united us. Won because we all have now the feeling of belonging to a single community of Europe.
Thanks everyone for their participation and involvement.
