  1. 1. Ana Lúcia Krüger Vargas
  2. 2. . Assessment is part of our life. We assess and are assessed all the time. Assessment in schools (teacher andstudent). Assessment teacher-student perspective. Feedback
  3. 3.  Can feedback be used as an effectiveassessment tool for teachers and students?I expect that the teacher will consider feedback moreeffective than tests for assessing the pupils (H1) and ontheir hand, pupils will consider feedback efficient fordeveloping their learning (H2). How can technology facilitate teacher’s work ingiving feedback?I expect that the use of technology will save time andefforts from the teacher, giving her opportunity toeffectively think over the feedback given to the pupils (H3).
  4. 4.  Pre and post self-report (students) Daily Diaries (students) Pre and post interview, self-report of practice(teacher) Teacher’s feedback to students ObservationNorssi - research team
  5. 5. Research question Hypothesis Data AnalysisHow can feedback be used as aneffective assessment tool forteachers and students?I expect that the teacher willconsider feedback more effectivethan tests for assessing thepupils (H1) and on their hand, pupils will consider feedbackefficient for developing theirlearning (H2).Pupil’s diariesTeacher’s feedbacksTeacher’s pre and post interviewPupil’s pre and postquestionnaireObservationFrom pupil’s diaries I will see ifthey have considered theyimproved their learning. From teacher’s feedback I willsee if the teacher consider theyhave improved their learning.I will also check if there iscorrelation between teacher’sand student’s view of the givenfeedbacks. From teacher’s interview I willsee if she could assess pupilsbased on the feedback given. From pupil’s questionnaires I willsee their idea of feedback andthe importance of tests and ifthere was a change on it afterreceiving constant formativefeedback.By observing I would be able toreflect and compare on student’sdiaries and what has happened inthe classroomHow can technology facilitateteacher’s work in givingfeedback?I expect that the use oftechnology will save time andefforts from the teacher, givingher opportunity to effective thinkover the feedback given to thepupils (H3).Feedback scripTeacher’s post interviewFrom the interview with theteacher I will be able to see if thetechnological tool helped hersave time and efforts in givingfeedback. It was suggested by Jari the useof Edmodo but I have notdecided about it yet.
  6. 6.  The topic is of general interest andapplication in school contexts the data collection is going to be in NorthernFinland, in a very small population; the resultwill be therefore nationally and regionallysignificant Broader research is necessary in order to havemore significant results
