All these indicate newly emerging opportunities for Indian Banking. But on the darker side we see
the accumulated morass, brought out by three decades of controlled and regimented management of
the banks in the past. It has siphoned profitability of the Government owned banks, accumulated
bloated NPA and threatens Capital Adequacy of the Banks and their continued stability. Nationalised
banks are heavily over–staffed. The recruitment, training, placement and promotion policies of the
banks leave much to be desired. In the nutshell the problem is how to shed the legacies of the past
and adapt to the demands of the new age. Chapter I INTRODUCTION INTRODUCTION Banking
sector reforms in India has progressed promptly on aspects like interest rate deregulation, reduction
in statutory reserve requirements, prudential norms for interest rates, asset classification, income
recognition and provisioning. But it could not match the pace with which it was expected to do. The
accomplishment of these norms at the execution stages without restructuring the banking sector as
such is creating havoc During pre–nationalization period and after independence, the banking sector
remained in private hands Large industries who had their control in the management of the banks
were utilizing major portion of financial resources of the banking system and as a result low priority

What Is JP Morgan Chase?
I have decided to research JP Morgan Chase as my top firm to write about. My decision to write
about Chase was because I have an account with this company. American banking was a small–scale
affair before the 198o's and nationally charted banks were limited as well (Larson, 2010).
Economies of scale are known as savings that companies enjoy when they become larger and
produce more output (Larson, 2010). A variety of technological factors constitute a third force
contributing to economies of scale (Thomas & Maurice, 2010). For Example, The development of
bulk computer processing centers and electronic data transmission which has allowed banks to move
back office operations away from individual branches to large remote centers. This has

The Surveillance Of Cctv Cameras
Over the years, banks have housed several of their branches in large buildings, sharing their space
with other occupants. Although security is a key factor in consideration of the location of a bank,
smart individuals use this positioning to their advantage. Access is gained by cutting a hole in the
floor, and theft occurs. With the passing years, security in banks has been evident with the reliance
of CCTV cameras. This ensures monitoring of the users activities in banks by security officers who
take turns in watching the screens for any uneventful, unexpected happenings. The CCTV cameras
are placed strategically in every corner to ensure each detail of the activities taking place is
recorded. The ATMs are also monitored in anticipation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This made the people hesitate to invest any significant amount of money at the time. The idea
slowly began to catch on after easing into E–commerce. Major and minor banks are trying to
enhance the security of their firms using different methods. The security system of some banks
requires highly trained, capable individuals who can protect progression of activities in their
allocated areas, be it inside the bank, at ATM portals and in monitoring CCTV cameras.
Use of laser beams that generate intense beams of coherent monochromatic light through simulated
emission of photons has been used as a security measure. They are used either as sensors to trigger
alarms or as penetrative destructive beams in highly confiscated areas, which allow limited or no
access at all. Online banking security measures are kept to plan by the banks allowing software
developers to create antivirus software and sell the software to them. Users are required to download
this antivirus for themselves without necessarily consulting the bank's security operators. Recent
trends have shown the use of biometric analysis in the form of hand writing recognition, hand
finger, and geometry (Taylor, 2013).
Unlike the current system, the working of this system will provide accurate data storage, since any
transaction is recorded on the device and can be easily traced. The system will also create more
client confidentiality since any unauthorized individual cannot access the data stored in the system.

Financial Crisis Of The United States
Financial Crisis of 2007–2008 originated in the United States spread to the financial systems of
many other countries, including CIS countries, by means of the domino effect. Bankruptcy of one of
the largest Americans Bank, Lehman Brothers Holdings PLC, in someway was a launcher of this
global crisis the scope of that can be compared with the Great Depression of the 30s of the last
century. No one could have even believed that a crisis in the local market of subprime mortgage
loans in the USA would have such enormous affect on the financial systems over the world and
crash banking sectors of many countries one by one.

Literature Review The crisis that stressed lots of economies and financial systems originated in US
mortgage lending markets. First signals of possible problems came in early 2007, when the Federal
Home Loan Mortgage Corporation announced about its inability of purchasing high–risk mortgages,
after what New Century Financial Corporation – a leading mortgage lender to riskier customers –
filed for bankruptcy (John Marshall, 2009). In the research paper of 2009 he claims that source of
the crisis emanated from the rise of house pricing, called housing bubble. "US house prices rose
dramatically from 1998 until late 2005, more than doubling over this period, and far faster than
average wages. Further support for the existence of a bubble came from the ratio of house prices to
renting costs which rocketed upwards around 1999.." (John Marshall, 2009, p 10). Housing bubble
was also fully analyzed by Dean Baker in his research "The housing Bubble and the financial crisis"
in 2008. Dean noticed that, by the middle of 2007, house prices had peaked and began to head
downward. This was clearly stated in the following paragraph:
"By the end of 2007, real house prices had fallen by more than 15 percent from peak.House prices in
many of the most over–valued markets, primarily along the two coasts, had fallen by more than 20
percent. Furthermore, the rate of price decline was

Indian economy. Their contribution in terms of production, export, export, employment generation
and all round growth of the country is well known. The role of SME sector in the nation building is
well recognized not only in India, but also across the globe. The industrial engines of Japan, china,
US, Germany and Taiwan are also driven by the SME sector. Finance/credit is the most critical
component in any business process. Any industrial sector cannot work to its full capacity without
adequate flow of funds. The SME sector is working with low capacity utilization, which, however,

of persons employed is lower for SMEs than for large–size units. Assist in regional and local
development since SMEs accelerate rural industrialization by linking it with the more organized
urban sector. Help achieve fair and equitable distribution of wealth by regional dispersion of
economic activities. Contribute significantly to export revenues because of the low–cost labour
intensive nature of its products. Have a positive effect on the trade balance since SMEs generally

However, the rapid growth of the Internet has introduced a completely new level of security related
problems
(1) Technology and Security issues (2) Legal issues and (3) Regulatory and Supervisory issues
The problem here is that since theOne would think that the main purpose for a bank besides
managing one 's money would be giving good customer service. Excellence in customer service is
the most important tool for sustained business growth. Customer complaints are part of the business
life of any corporate entity. This is more so for banks because banks are service organizations. As a
service organization, customer service and customer satisfaction should be the prime concern of any
bank. Banks believe that by providing prompt and efficient service on to their customers, this is
essential not only to attract new customers, but also to retain existing ones because customer
dissatisfaction would spoil the bank 's name and image. To provide this kind of service more fast
and efficient, the major weapon of bank is e–banking.
There are several Research Design techniques that can be used to identify customer perceptions
about internet banking and also service problems such as debit card fraud and loan issues. A survey
was implemented to find out how well customer perception about e–banking leads to various
banker's function and the studies have found that the exploratory research was used in order to

Persuasive Essay About Food Bank
Food banks are a terrible solution to a terrible issue. Hunger is one of the biggest issues the human
race experiences. One in nine people in the world, or 795 million people, out of the 7.4 billion
people go hungry every day because they do not have enough to eat. Every 10 seconds, a child dies
from hunger–related diseases (The Hunger Project, 2017). The way lots of organizations try to help
these people in need are through food banks. A food bank is a non–profit, charitable organization
that distributes to those who have difficulty purchasing enough food to avoid hunger. Food banks
are inefficient in aspects of time, money, and effort because so much more can be done through
donations of money, not non–perishable foods and items. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Another issue arises though, it needs to be transported from the warehouse to the appropriate drop–
off place, which is most likely in a high–density residential area, not an industrial area. The time it
takes for all this to happen is simply too much and non–efficient. We are in an era where time is
valuable. Everyone is so busy with their lives, be it for work, school, family, or hobbies, it is
unnecessary to spend all this time just to donate something that not even the buyer would eat. To
show an example, let's say a donator's name is David. David works a 9–5 job which pays $20 per
hour and has three kids, two of which have swimming practice after school. David picks up his kids
at 5:30, and goes home right in time for dinner. On his dinner table, he has high quality foods that
are packed with nutrients. David remembers there's a food drive raffle near his workplace that is
looking for donations for a chance to win a grand prize. David now has to go out of his way to go to
a grocery store to buy non–perishable foods. Instead of wasting his time going, he can go to the food
bank and simply donate money. If David was planning on spending $5 and 45 minutes for the whole
process, from purchasing the items to dropping them off, he actually spent $20 plus a few extra
dollars for gas. Instead of wasting 45 minutes of his time to get $5 worth of food, he could easily
have donated $25, which go a long way. This will be explained later, but

Online Banking And Its Impact On The United States
Introduction:
Since the 1980's, online banking has made the lives of everyday people more convenient. With the
new innovations and creations to computers, online banking has grown to become the most used
form of banking in the US (5). From the first ATM to mobile banking technology has helped shape
One of the first computerized innovations to online banking, the credit card, revolutionized how
cash was money was used in society.
1950 – 1960's:
During the 1950 a man named Frank X. McNamara, was sitting at dinner when he realized he had
left the house without cash. After having to call his wife to bring him some, he vowed to create
something to solve this problem. That same year McNamara and his friends started the first credit

1970's – 1980's:
About 20 years later in 1981, a few New York City banks including, Citibank and Chase Manhattan,
introduced the first form of online banking to the US. The first service allowed customers to send
transfers and bills by connecting the TV set and telephone line (7). While this is different than what
we think of as traditional online banking, this was the cornerstone to what online banking has
become today.
1990 – 1995:
After a long absence of innovations to online banking, Stanford Credit Union was the first financial
institution to offer online banking to all of its customers in 1994(7). This was important for online
banking because it set a standard that helped get more financial institutions on board with online
banking. That same year, online banking was built into Microsoft's money personal finance sloppy
disc software. Over 100,000 began accessing online banking using this device (5).
1996 – 2000:
By the mid 1990's most of the major banks now offered online Bill Pay to all of its customers for a
small monthly fee (6). By this time, online banking has begun to grow rapidly, along with the
concerns for customer security. Like with many changing technologies, many customers of online
banking become skeptical of how well the technology could protect them. With growing concerns
from customers, banks began increasing their security with online accounts (7).

In 2001, it was reported that eight US banks now have at least one

Credit Card Delinquencies Are Sky Rocketing – And There's Just One Answer That's Sustainable
With the stock markets at record highs and unemployment at a comfortable, there is one problem
that is currently being overlooked. That issue is consumer debt and it should not be ignored, even
during the good times and it should be a great concern for most people.
The stubbornness of cumbersome personal debt following a recovery highlights problems that are
systemic. Even with healthy looking numbers, jobs are still rapidly going overseas. Student debt
increases as the cost of attending College keeps getting more costly. In certain instances, prosperity

the two alternatives and look at where we as a country want to invest our energy.
The member agencies of the NFCC offer millions of consumers in–person financial education,
online or via the phone. A holistic approach is taken where a thorough financial review is taken and
they come up with a financial action plan that is tailored made for each client according to their
goals. The Certified Counselors at the NFCC take the full gamut into account, from counseling for
bankruptcy and credit card debt to first–time home buyers and student debt and ultimately an in–
depth financial education. Keep in mind that one in three of the NFCC members provides multiple
services that involve mentoring youth, chemical dependency programs, etc.
NFCC Board Chair and President Debbie Bianucci, who is also CEO of BAI (a 90–year–old

al 2000). Intemet banking refers to the use of the Intemet as a channel in the delivery of banking
products and services (Starita, 1999). Intemet banking and traditional PC banking differ with respect
to the application software resident on the user's computer and hence the requirement for ongoing
software upgrades and distributions. In most home banking ventures, the bank provides the
customer with an application software program (or PFM by customer) that operates on a customer's
designated PC. By contrast, with Intemet banking, potential customers already have the software
they need to do their banking services as application software resides on the bank's server in the
form of the home page. The Security First Network Bank (SFNB) in the United States inaugurated
the world's first transactional Web site on October 18, 1995. Since then, the number of Intemet

A Study On Stress Among The Banking Employees
A Study on Stress among the Banking Employees in Rising Concern Mr. L.Kannan Abstract Over
the last decade the nature and philosophy of work have undergone dramatic changes, and it is still
changing at whirlwind speed. Technological advancements have made significant contribution in
almost all sectors. In the world of hectic work schedules omnipresent deadlines and cut throat
competition there is less downtime in which they are really away from work this has led to stress
which has become a buzzword. Stress is a response, psychological or physiological to influence
arising out of change, disturbances or occurrence in the environment or in the life of a person. It
may be construed as a pressure strain or tension. The global meltdown and the subsequent turmoil in
the financial market have resulted in increased stress levels leading to a number of ailments. People
are now more prone to diseases like hypertension, lower immunity and gastrointestinal problems.
Over the last two decades several reforms have taken place within the banking sector. The
organizational models, practices, procedures and systems have been redefined completely in the
Indian banking industry in the post globalization era today the focus of the industry is on HR issues

Online banking is an important example of efforts that grow banking industry. In US, online banking
was introduced widely when four of the city 's major banks (Citibank, Chase Manhattan, Chemical
and Manufacturers Hanover) started to offer home banking services, using the videotex system.
"When the clicks–and–bricks euphoria hit in the late 1990s, many banks began to view Web–based
banking as a strategic imperative. The attraction of banks to online banking are fairly obvious:
diminished transaction costs, easier integration of services, interactive marketing capabilities, and
other benefits that boost customer lists and profit margins. Additionally, Web banking services allow
institutions to bundle more services into single packages, thereby luring customers and minimizing
overhead."

China and India are also very similar in taxes. They both have similar systems for paying taxes.
China pays the higher tax depending on how much money you make. There tax system works the

The more money you make the more tax money you pay monthly. In India, you do not pay as much

makes more money. As you can see by the chart the more income you make the more taxes you pay.
But in India what they do have is tax cuts for interest and royalty.

Central Texas
The First National Bank of Central Texas (hereinafter referred as FNBCT), founded in 1901 in Mart,
Texas, was originally the first national bank to serve the agricultural community and consumers and
small business owners in Mart. Quick growth followed after the bank changed its leadership and
ownership in 1995. Under the leadership of a seasoned management team and CEO, Monte Hulse,
the bank expanded rapidly, from a single branch to multiple branches in the area. FNBCT acquired
multiple branch locations along its rapid expansion periods, and by the end of 2010 and early 2011,
FNBCT amounted a net asset size of $700 million, with only five banking centers. The five
branches are located in Waco, Woodway–Hewitt, China Spring, Mart, and Hillsboro, Texas. FNBCT
offers traditional banking services such as Personal Banking, Commercial Banking, Farm &

Chemical Bank Case
CHEMICAL BANK – Allocation of Profits EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The overall profitability of
Chemical Bank has been negatively affected by a decrease in profit contribution from Due Bills.
There is an external threat of reduced interest rates and internal threats in the form of misalignment
between involved divisions. The following suggestions aim to counteract this development 1.
Increasing sales volumes of Due Bills a. Allocate 100% of profits from customer fees to Metro b.
Aligning Metro's branch managers' Point System with increasing sales i. Incorporate Due Bills in
the Point System 1. when all fee profits from Due Bills are allocated to Metro, they fall under

The latter has further been exacerbated by a lack of incentives for Metro branches, the main sales
and marketing agents for the product, to sell Due Bills. KEY PROBLEMS 1. Decreased sales
volumes of Due Bills has a detrimental effect on the bank's overall profitability. Metro, the division
responsible for up to 85% of sales of Due Bills not only lack incentives to sell Due Bills; they have
incentives not to sell Due Bills due to: The existing Point System wherein Due Bills are not
rewarded. They are incentivized to sell Super–Saver Accounts which has a lower contribution
margin than Due Bills, and also cannibalizes on Due Bills. Selling Due Bills result in a negative
bottom line for Metro. 2. Administrative tasks are performed at a third division, Trust and
Investment Division [T&I] that is not directly accountable for costs as they are

Bank of America (A)
The banking industry is ripe for innovation. We need to grow through value creation and excellent
service that is appreciated by customers as opposed to price alone. – Milton Jones, president,
Georgia Banking Group "I wonder if we're being 'overrewarded'!" exclaimed Warren Butler to Amy
Brady, the executive responsible for Bank of America's Innovation & Development (I&D) Team in
Atlanta, Georgia. As an executive in the consumer bank's quality and productivity group, Butler led
innovation and process change in Brady's group, which was responsible for testing new product and

In the United States, the bank served 27 million households and two million businesses and
processed more checks per day than the Federal Reserve System. Globally, it boasted over 140,000
employees across 190 nations, over $8 billion in annual revenues, $360 billion in deposits, and some
$600 billion in assets (see Exhibit 3 for key financial data). Yet, increasing competition ensured that
Bank of America could not rest on its laurels. Like many of its successful peers, its growth had been
driven by cost reduction and consolidation. From 1985 until 2000, the number of U.S. banks had
dwindled from around 14,000 to about 7,000. These still large numbers–especially when compared
with there being only six major banks in Canada– reflected the highly competitive nature of the U.S.
banking industry as well as its regional focus. Driving consolidation had been a realization that
while service was local, products were national. Despite this realization, however, banks continued
viewing financial services as commodities, and this bottom–line orientation did not make for an
industry rife with innovation. In the estimation of Butler, a senior vice president and industry
veteran, "People's expectations for banks are very low; in fact, they're used to being

Its operational capacity was severely limited by runway layout; Stapleton had two parallel north–
south runways and two additional parallel east–west runways that accommodated only commuter air
carriers. Denver's economy grew and expanded greatly in the early 1980s, consequent to booms in
the oil, real estate, and tourism industries. An aging and saturated Stapleton Airport was increasingly
seen as a liability that limited the attractiveness of the region to the many businesses that were
flocking to it. Delays had become chronic. Neither the north–south nor east–west parallel runways
had sufficient lateral separation to accommodate simultaneous parallel arrival streams during poor
weather conditions when instrument flight rules were in effect. This lack of runway separation and
the layout of Stapleton's taxiways tended to cause delays during high–traffic periods, even when
weather conditions were good. Denver's geographic location and the growing size of its population
and commerce made it an attractive location for airline hubbing operations. At one point, Stapleton
had housed four airline hubs, more than any other airport in the United States. In poor weather and
during periods of hightraffic volume, however, its limitations disrupted connection schedules that
were important to maintaining these operations. A local storm could easily congest air traffic across
the entire United States.3 3According to James Barnes [1993], "By 1994, Stapleton was one of the

After the end of World War–II there was great need for speedy industrial expansion in the whole

The new Expectations are high and the government will present an adjustment to the former
government 's budget implement its own strategy.
If the government announces any definite measures which would either lead to broadening of the tax
base or increase in tax compliance, a modest increase in revenue cannot be rule out. However,
development in tax buoyancy could only result from bringing about structural changes in the tax
structure such as implementation of GST and DTC. We also expect the government to take a strong
stance on some of the impending tax–related disputes relating to retrospective changes to tax laws,
transfer pricing laws and General Anti–Avoidance Rules (GAAR). We would also expect the
government to give a clear outline of its intentions on disinvestment which would also help in
assessing the resources available for its expenditure.

History Of Capital One Financial Corporation
I also chose Capital One Financial Corporation. I chose this because i use this bank myself and
wanted to learn more about it as it seemed to be very successful and a possible good investment.
Capital One's (COF) history is shorter than different banks. It was founded in 1994. This was when
Signet Financial Corp. branched its credit card business into a different section named Capital One.
The new corporation was led by Richard Fairbank. Capital One was a monoline credit card
organization in the mid 1990s. Capital One constructed a solid credit card business. This procedure
paid off but if the credit card business were to decline it would mean disaster for them. Capital One
expanded into retail banking in the late 1990s and mid 2000s. It ... Show more content on

I chose this mainly because similar to Abbott laboratories they have a very long history, they were
founded in 1923. It was founded by Merrit J. Osborn. Early on they had some problems but because
of an infusion by investors they managed to produce their first successful product Soilax. By 1928
they entered the equipment business for dispensing their Soilax into dishwashing machines. In 1933
they nearly failed again but because of employees taking a pay cut and giving up a month's salary
they were saved. But then they were confronted with a new problem when Calgon Corporation
made a better dishwashing detergent called Calgonite in 1934. But they convinced the Calgon
corporation to allow them to be the sole distributer of Calgonite and then when Calgon stopped
producing it they ripped them off and made super soilax. They were sued but Calgon lost so
everything was fine. In 1948 they introduce their first dishwasher rinse additive. In 1957 the
company goes public. In 1961 they purchase Klenzade Products, Inc. In 1964 they purchase Magnus
Chemical Company Inc. In 1978 Fred T. Lanners, Jr., becomes the first non–Osborn to head the
company. In 1979 they buy Apollo Technologies, Inc. In 1983 Apollo is shut down. In 1987
Company sells its consumer products division and purchases lawncare servicer ChemLawn for $376
million. In 1992 ChemLawn is sold to Service Master L.P. for $103 million. In 1994 Kay Chemical
Company, maker of cleaning and sanitizing products for the fast–food industry, is bought. In 1997
they buy Australia–based Gibson Chemical Industries Limited for $130 million; they enter the
commercial car wash cleaning products sector. In 1998 GCS Service, Inc., provider of repair

The substance of the occupation of the strategist is to adapt to rivalry. The field in which rivalry

MOBILE BANKING
For nearly 30 years, financial institutions have been on consistently trying to satisfy their customers'
need for more convenience. The automated teller machines (ATM) were the first to change the
scenario with technology bringing in better convenience, which was introduced by Chemical Bank
in New York in 1969. It was a little more than a cash dispensing machine in the beginning but the
ATM evolved over time to become a true bank–away–from–bank, providing a full range of financial
transactions.
In the mid–1990s came Internet banking which enabled consumers to access their financial accounts
using a home computer with an Internet connection. Despite its promise of ultimate convenience,
online banking saw slow and tentative growth as banks worked out technology issues and built
consumer trust. Today, Internet banking has reached a critical mass, with about 35 percent of U.S.
households conducting bank transactions online.
However, banking at home on a computer had some serious limitations. In U.S. context, only 62
percent of American households have a computer which was revealed by a 2003 study conducted by
the U.S. Census Bureau and only 28 percent of Americans have broadband Internet access, which is
essential for efficient, convenient service. The biggest issue, however, is mobility which is
eliminated by the mobile phones. They can be carried anywhere and are available with an enormous
number of people. Worldwid¬e there are more than 3.25 billion mobile

The 2008 Financial Crisis
On September 15, 2008, Wall Street entered the largest financial crisis since the Great Depression.
On a day that could have been called Black Monday, the Dow Jones Industrial average plummeted
almost 500 points. Historically prominent investment giant Lehman Brothers filled for bankruptcy,
while Bank of America bought out former powerhouse Merrill Lynch (Maloney and Lindeman
2008). The crisis enveloped the economy of the United States, as effects are still felt today. Experts
still disagree about what exactly caused the greatest financial disaster since the Great Depression,
but many point to the repeal of the Glass–Steagall Act of 1933 as a gateway to the rise of extreme
laissez–faire policies that allowed Wall Street to take on incredible risk at the expense of taxpayers.
In the wake of the crisis, politicians look for policies that reign in the power of Wall Street, but the
fundamental relationship between economic and political power has made such regulation
ineffective. The Glass–Steagall Act of 1933 was a direct response to the Great Depression of the
1930s. The years before the Depression were marked by robust financial growth, led by an
expansion of credit through the policies of the Federal Reserve and new financial innovation, such
as investment trusts (Neal and White 2012). Though these trusts were similar to a savings bank, they
differed in that trusts were not regulated in which securities they could invest in and had had little
government supervision. The

According to Mr. D. Ian Guild, Senior Advisor, Forfeiting & Syndications Group, Standard Bank,
the cell was being set up after a series of meetings with the bank, and is essentially aimed at
spreading the message of Forfeiting as an effective trade financing mechanism to increase exports.
Suggesting that forfeiting was the ideal springboard for effecting a quantum jump in exports in the
medium–term, Mr. Guild said he was confident of aggregating forfeiting business of $100 millions
in 1998 and $250 millions in 1999 in the country. Since its introduction in 1992, Exim Bank had
facilitated 69 forfeiting transactions valued at around $75 millions, with credit periods ranging
between 90 days and seven years, and covering the export of goods ranging from textiles to plant
and machinery. The RBI has now permitted all commercial banks to act as facilitators for forfeiting
transactions. Mr. Guild pointed out that forfeiting has not really taken off in India because exporters
and commercial banks lacked the knowledge of the mechanics of the scheme. In India, the real
challenge would be to motivate small and medium exporters to use the forfeiting route for exports to
countries which may not be able to buy on cash terms. Mr. S. Bhattacharya, deputy general manager,
Exim Bank, Calcutta, said: "Payment defaults by overseas

division it was yet another product under many business/individual deposits they are dealing with.
Considering costs associated and amount of work involved with Due Bill, it was not critical to meet
their goals.
To resolve this problem, Firstly I will analyze gaps in system in terms of cost allocation, revenue
sharing , transfer price and create a strategy to address gaps, motivate teams across divisions to work
towards company objectives.
2) What is the transfer price from metro branches to the treasury and vice–versa?
Transfer pricing necessarily results from the exchanges of goods and services among the

financial services company in the world, and a vision to provide unparalleled service to their clients,
JP Morgan Chase has effortlessly become one of the most successful banks in the world. As a Teller
within the company my job is to take responsibility for greeting all customers, handling transactions,

new to the branch I already feel as if I am already making an impact. Through teamwork and
personal growth I believe I will soon be able to live up to Chase employee standards. It is a known
fact that a customer's experience begins and often time ends at the teller line. As once said by my
branch manager Lesa Barrow, "the customers experience is determined by a smile from the moment

Burchell And Listokin: A Case Study
For too long architecture has been synonymous with creating and building things – new things, and
it is time for that narrow scope to be redefined to include the redesigning of already existing
structures. In densely populated cities such as New York because of issues such as cost and space
availability, the average architect might end up working renovation projects rather than full scale
new built projects and this is where adaptive reuse comes into play. Adaptive reuse as defined by
Burchell and Listokin is "a process of revitalization that utilize a sequence of simultaneous methods
of planning, making inventory, acquiring, managing and reusing surplus of abandoned real estate ."
But more than that, adaptive reuse has economical, historical ... Show more content on

It was a massive undertaking with over four million square feet but was impressively all constructed
in 17 months and opened one year from conception in 1919. Cass Gilbert was the architect for this
complex, which was essentially composed of two rectangular block long buildings interconnected
by three bridges on the third floor of each and separated by a street way. These larger of the two
buildings is further separated in two by a train track that would have brought trains right into the
building for easy loading and unloading. Above the tracks is a series of trusses that support a long
triangular glass sunroof and allow light to flood the center enclosed atrium of the more massive
complex. The smaller building also connects to the atrium with three covered piers. Cass Gilbert
was a student of the Beaux Arts, however, in the Brooklyn Army Terminal we see Gilbert fabricate a
more utilitarian design, which was probably because of the space being more about function rather
than form and subsequently allowed the easy adaptive reuse of the space decades later. "The
complex was constructed of girder–less, steel reinforced concrete slabs and included 96 centrally
controlled push–button elevators, the largest elevator installation of its time. " The scale and speed
with which the complex was built was very typical of its time, in the early turn of the century
factories were still a common and necessary typology in the city as they were a source of economy
and jobs. But after the Second World War the world had changed, New York City had also changed
and factories began moving out of cities and into the Midwest or overseas. There was no need for
factory warehouse of such massive size and the complex closed down in 1964 until 1981 when a
rehabilitation effort by was jumpstarted by the city. Today, the Brooklyn Army

Globalization and Technology Strategy Assignment Paper 1:
Examples of IT efforts that run, grow, or transform the business it serves

Kent State University
ABSTRACT
Since the introduction of Information Technology, the business world has been transformed. In
many aspects of business, IT contributes remarkably in increasing effective usage of time, efforts
and financial costs. This article is going to outline some examples of IT efforts that run, grow, or
transform the business it serves, thorough increasingly important layers of business operation and
management. Those layers are finance, communication and systems. 1. Finance
Some decades ago, business financial activities were far different from they are now. Transactions
were made using cash or bank notes, which were given directly from hand to hand or sent via mails.
It could take a week for a transaction to be complete due to distance. Orders given to brokers on
financial markets were made through phone or face–to–face communication. Nowadays, those
activities are totally transformed thanks to Information Technology.
The first examples to be noticed are innovations in banking industry. IT started to transform banking
industry with the introduction of Society for Worldwide Inter–bank Financial Telecommunications
(SWIFT) in May 1973. It has developed some systems to provide SWIFT Terminal Services, which
are services transmitting financial messages between banks worldwide. Some of its innovations are

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Mergers In Banks
INTRODUCTION
Banking industry plays a very important role in the economic growth of a country. Mergers and
Acquisitions have become a positive way for growth in the size of banks which in turn play a
significant role in entering the competitive global financial market. The Indian banking sector can be
divided into two eras, the pre liberalization era and the post liberalization era. In pre liberalization
era government of India nationalized 14 Banks on 19 July 1969 and later on 6 more commercial
Banks were nationalized on 15 April 1980. In the year 1993 government merged The New Bank of

All these indicate newly emerging opportunities for Indian Banking. But on the darker side we see the accumulated morass, brought out by three decades of controlled and regimented management of the banks in the past. It has siphoned profitability of the Government owned banks, accumulated bloated NPA and threatens Capital Adequacy of the Banks and their continued stability. Nationalised banks are heavily over–staffed. The recruitment, training, placement and promotion policies of the banks leave much to be desired. In the nutshell the problem is how to shed the legacies of the past and adapt to the demands of the new age. Chapter I INTRODUCTION INTRODUCTION Banking sector reforms in India has progressed promptly on aspects like interest rate deregulation, reduction in statutory reserve requirements, prudential norms for interest rates, asset classification, income recognition and provisioning. But it could not match the pace with which it was expected to do. The accomplishment of these norms at the execution stages without restructuring the banking sector as such is creating havoc During pre–nationalization period and after independence, the banking sector remained in private hands Large industries who had their control in the management of the banks were utilizing major portion of financial resources of the banking system and as a result low priority was accorded to priority ... American banking was a small–scale affair before the 198o's and nationally charted banks were limited as well (Larson, 2010). Economies of scale are known as savings that companies enjoy when they become larger and produce more output (Larson, 2010). A variety of technological factors constitute a third force contributing to economies of scale (Thomas & Maurice, 2010). For Example, The development of bulk computer processing centers and electronic data transmission which has allowed banks to move back office operations away from individual branches to large remote centers. Although security is a key factor in consideration of the location of a bank, smart individuals use this positioning to their advantage. Access is gained by cutting a hole in the floor, and theft occurs. With the passing years, security in banks has been evident with the reliance of CCTV cameras. This ensures monitoring of the users activities in banks by security officers who take turns in watching the screens for any uneventful, unexpected happenings. Major and minor banks are trying to enhance the security of their firms using different methods. The security system of some banks requires highly trained, capable individuals who can protect progression of activities in their allocated areas, be it inside the bank, at ATM portals and in monitoring CCTV cameras. Use of laser beams that generate intense beams of coherent monochromatic light through simulated emission of photons has been used as a security measure. They are used either as sensors to trigger alarms or as penetrative destructive beams in highly confiscated areas, which allow limited or no access at all. Online banking security measures are kept to plan by the banks allowing software developers to create antivirus software and sell the software to them. Users are required to download this antivirus for themselves without necessarily consulting the bank's security operators. Literature Review The crisis that stressed lots of economies and financial systems originated in US mortgage lending markets. First signals of possible problems came in early 2007, when the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation announced about its inability of purchasing high–risk mortgages, after what New Century Financial Corporation – a leading mortgage lender to riskier customers – filed for bankruptcy (John Marshall, 2009). In the research paper of 2009 he claims that source of the crisis emanated from the rise of house pricing, called housing bubble. "US house prices rose dramatically from 1998 until late 2005, more than doubling over this period, and far faster than average wages. Further support for the existence of a bubble came from the ratio of house prices to renting costs which rocketed upwards around 1999.." (John Marshall, 2009, p 10). Housing bubble was also fully analyzed by Dean Baker in his research "The housing Bubble and the financial crisis" in 2008. Dean noticed that, by the middle of 2007, house prices had peaked and began to head downward. This was clearly stated in the following paragraph: "By the end of 2007, real house prices had fallen by more than 15 percent from peak.House prices in many of the most over–valued markets, primarily along the two coasts, had fallen by more than 20 percent. • 17. Persuasive Essay About Food Bank Food banks are a terrible solution to a terrible issue. Hunger is one of the biggest issues the human race experiences. One in nine people in the world, or 795 million people, out of the 7.4 billion people go hungry every day because they do not have enough to eat. Every 10 seconds, a child dies from hunger–related diseases (The Hunger Project, 2017). The way lots of organizations try to help these people in need are through food banks. A food bank is a non–profit, charitable organization that distributes to those who have difficulty purchasing enough food to avoid hunger. Food banks are inefficient in aspects of time, money, and effort because so much more can be done through donations of money, not non–perishable foods and items. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another issue arises though, it needs to be transported from the warehouse to the appropriate drop– off place, which is most likely in a high–density residential area, not an industrial area. The time it takes for all this to happen is simply too much and non–efficient. We are in an era where time is valuable. Everyone is so busy with their lives, be it for work, school, family, or hobbies, it is unnecessary to spend all this time just to donate something that not even the buyer would eat. To show an example, let's say a donator's name is David. David works a 9–5 job which pays $20 per hour and has three kids, two of which have swimming practice after school. David picks up his kids at 5:30, and goes home right in time for dinner. On his dinner table, he has high quality foods that are packed with nutrients. David remembers there's a food drive raffle near his workplace that is looking for donations for a chance to win a grand prize. David now has to go out of his way to go to a grocery store to buy non–perishable foods. Instead of wasting his time going, he can go to the food bank and simply donate money. If David was planning on spending $5 and 45 minutes for the whole process, from purchasing the items to dropping them off, he actually spent $20 plus a few extra dollars for gas. Instead of wasting 45 minutes of his time to get $5 worth of food, he could easily have donated $25, which go a long way. This will be explained later, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In most home banking ventures, the bank provides the customer with an application software program (or PFM by customer) that operates on a customer's designated PC. We also expect the government to take a strong stance on some of the impending tax–related disputes relating to retrospective changes to tax laws, transfer pricing laws and General Anti–Avoidance Rules (GAAR). We would also expect the government to give a clear outline of its intentions on disinvestment which would also help in assessing the resources available for its expenditure. I chose this because i use this bank myself and wanted to learn more about it as it seemed to be very successful and a possible good investment. Capital One's (COF) history is shorter than different banks. It was founded in 1994. This was when Signet Financial Corp. branched its credit card business into a different section named Capital One. The new corporation was led by Richard Fairbank. Capital One was a monoline credit card organization in the mid 1990s. Capital One constructed a solid credit card business. This procedure paid off but if the credit card business were to decline it would mean disaster for them. Capital One expanded into retail banking in the late 1990s and mid 2000s. It ... By 1928 they entered the equipment business for dispensing their Soilax into dishwashing machines. In 1933 they nearly failed again but because of employees taking a pay cut and giving up a month's salary they were saved. But then they were confronted with a new problem when Calgon Corporation made a better dishwashing detergent called Calgonite in 1934. But they convinced the Calgon corporation to allow them to be the sole distributer of Calgonite and then when Calgon stopped producing it they ripped them off and made super soilax. They were sued but Calgon lost so everything was fine. In 1948 they introduce their first dishwasher rinse additive. In 1957 the company goes public. In 1961 they purchase Klenzade Products, Inc. • 61. Mobile Banking Essay MOBILE BANKING For nearly 30 years, financial institutions have been on consistently trying to satisfy their customers' need for more convenience. The automated teller machines (ATM) were the first to change the scenario with technology bringing in better convenience, which was introduced by Chemical Bank in New York in 1969. It was a little more than a cash dispensing machine in the beginning but the ATM evolved over time to become a true bank–away–from–bank, providing a full range of financial transactions. In the mid–1990s came Internet banking which enabled consumers to access their financial accounts using a home computer with an Internet connection. Despite its promise of ultimate convenience, online banking saw slow and tentative growth as banks worked out technology issues and built consumer trust. Today, Internet banking has reached a critical mass, with about 35 percent of U.S. households conducting bank transactions online. However, banking at home on a computer had some serious limitations. In U.S. context, only 62 percent of American households have a computer which was revealed by a 2003 study conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau and only 28 percent of Americans have broadband Internet access, which is essential for efficient, convenient service. The biggest issue, however, is mobility which is eliminated by the mobile phones. They can be carried anywhere and are available with an enormous number of people. • 63. The 2008 Financial Crisis On September 15, 2008, Wall Street entered the largest financial crisis since the Great Depression. On a day that could have been called Black Monday, the Dow Jones Industrial average plummeted almost 500 points. Historically prominent investment giant Lehman Brothers filled for bankruptcy, while Bank of America bought out former powerhouse Merrill Lynch (Maloney and Lindeman 2008). The crisis enveloped the economy of the United States, as effects are still felt today. Experts still disagree about what exactly caused the greatest financial disaster since the Great Depression, but many point to the repeal of the Glass–Steagall Act of 1933 as a gateway to the rise of extreme laissez–faire policies that allowed Wall Street to take on incredible risk at the expense of taxpayers. In the wake of the crisis, politicians look for policies that reign in the power of Wall Street, but the fundamental relationship between economic and political power has made such regulation ineffective. The Glass–Steagall Act of 1933 was a direct response to the Great Depression of the 1930s. The years before the Depression were marked by robust financial growth, led by an expansion of credit through the policies of the Federal Reserve and new financial innovation, such as investment trusts (Neal and White 2012). Though these trusts were similar to a savings bank, they differed in that trusts were not regulated in which securities they could invest in and had had little government supervision. The ... Suggesting that forfeiting was the ideal springboard for effecting a quantum jump in exports in the medium–term, Mr. Guild said he was confident of aggregating forfeiting business of $100 millions in 1998 and $250 millions in 1999 in the country. Since its introduction in 1992, Exim Bank had facilitated 69 forfeiting transactions valued at around $75 millions, with credit periods ranging between 90 days and seven years, and covering the export of goods ranging from textiles to plant and machinery. The RBI has now permitted all commercial banks to act as facilitators for forfeiting transactions. Mr. Guild pointed out that forfeiting has not really taken off in India because exporters and commercial banks lacked the knowledge of the mechanics of the scheme. Burchell And Listokin: A Case Study For too long architecture has been synonymous with creating and building things – new things, and it is time for that narrow scope to be redefined to include the redesigning of already existing structures. In densely populated cities such as New York because of issues such as cost and space availability, the average architect might end up working renovation projects rather than full scale new built projects and this is where adaptive reuse comes into play. Adaptive reuse as defined by Burchell and Listokin is "a process of revitalization that utilize a sequence of simultaneous methods of planning, making inventory, acquiring, managing and reusing surplus of abandoned real estate ." It was a massive undertaking with over four million square feet but was impressively all constructed in 17 months and opened one year from conception in 1919. These larger of the two buildings is further separated in two by a train track that would have brought trains right into the building for easy loading and unloading. Above the tracks is a series of trusses that support a long triangular glass sunroof and allow light to flood the center enclosed atrium of the more massive complex. The smaller building also connects to the atrium with three covered piers. Cass Gilbert was a student of the Beaux Arts, however, in the Brooklyn Army Terminal we see Gilbert fabricate a more utilitarian design, which was probably because of the space being more about function rather than form and subsequently allowed the easy adaptive reuse of the space decades later. "The complex was constructed of girder–less, steel reinforced concrete slabs and included 96 centrally controlled push–button elevators, the largest elevator installation of its time. " The scale and speed with which the complex was built was very typical of its time, in the early turn of the century factories were still a common and necessary typology in the city as they were a source of economy and jobs. But after the Second World War the world had changed, New York City had also changed and factories began moving out of cities and into the Midwest or overseas. There was no need for factory warehouse of such massive size and the complex closed down in 1964 until 1981 when a rehabilitation effort by was jumpstarted by the city. Today, the Brooklyn Army ...
