On June 20, 1922, the City of Alamo Heights
incorporated as a City
In June 2022, the City will gracefully turn 100
years old!
In January 1971, Alamo Heights hired Rogers
company of Fostoria, OH, to plan the 50th
anniversary (Golden Anniversary)
The City of Alamo Heights celebrated the 50th
anniversary over 8 days in October 1972
October 14th – October 21st
4. BACKGROUND
Celebration activities included:
Coronation Day – Golden Anniversary Ball, beauty queen
pageant
Faith of Father’s Day – Worship services, BBQ by AH volunteer
Firemen, music at the swimming pool by religious organizations
Old Fashion Bargain Days – promoting local business, softball
game and teenage street dance
Pioneer Day – Cutting of cake, resident luncheon, recognition
ceremony of former residents, night festival at swimming pool,
concert by Alamo Heights School choir, theatrical performance
of “Alamo Heights Story”
5. BACKGROUND
Ladies’ Day – White Collar Girls’ luncheon, cocktails and
style show, 2nd performance of “Alamo Heights Story”
Youth Day – youth parade, hot dogs, night festival including
music and games, judging of the Brother of the Brush
Beard/public shaving
Good Neighbor Day – country style breakfast by Alamo
Heights Mule Pushers, festival activities to include music and
games, performance by Alamo Heights High School band,
and theatrical performance of “Alamo Heights Story”
