The Glass Menagerie By F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Glass Menagerie is arguably the most symbolic and deep plays ever written. The Glass
Menagerie isn't just a story of Laura's disability, it has a deeper meaning behind it, and it can be
easily overlooked by mediocre minds. Although the story revolves around the Wingfield family,
Tennessee Williams throws in symbolism that corresponds with his childhood. In a way, he found
closure for the loss of his sister Rose through writing The Glass Menagerie. One of the symbols is
the play that holds a different meaning for each of the characters is the fire escape. As the play
evolves the fire escape brings out Laura's, Tom's, and Amanda's true desires. OR
The fire escape like the other symbols hold a deeper understanding of the characters, and although
Tennessee didn't admit that he wrote this story off of his own experiences as a child having dealt
with similar circumstances, it's obvious it was written about his childhood. So, the symbolism also
makes a deeper understanding of Tennessee himself and the kind of life he lived. As I said the fire
escape shows the desire of escape, the realization of danger within the Wingfield home, and the
characters' true qualities are brought out by the fire escape.
For Laura, the fire escape is symbolic to show how interdependent she is on other people once she
slipped and fell. It signified that she can't even go outside alone without getting hurt. Laura always
needs someone to be with her. The real world is too much for Laura; she could

Michael Vey: Hunt For Jade Dragon
The title of this book I read is called Michael Vey: Hunt for Jade Dragon. The author of this book is
Richard Paul Evans. In this book the ElectroClan found out about little chinese girl who was
kidnapped by the Elgen and they had to rescue her. Later on, the ElectroClan were captured by
Elgen and had to make a quick escape. In the end, they had to save the Jade Dragon, which they did
in the end, and they had to send her to another country so, she would never be found. Ben moved the
Jade Dragon so the Elgen and ElectroClan wouldn't ever find where she lived.
The significant passage of this book happens when they were about to leave to Taiwan.

Once you read one it's best to read the next so you can keep reading all of the great adventures and
rescuing they do. Additionally, I would also recommend to young teenagers about 13–15 who are
looking for a good book series to read. That way they would have books to read for a couple months
or so without stressing about finding a book. Finally, I would recommend this book to anyone who
has previously read any Percy Jackson books. This is because they are a little similar but different
when it comes to powers and adventures. That is who I would recommend this book too. I rate this
book a 10 because of the way it was written. Each page would have more and more details about
that part in the book. If they were in a cell, they would describe the cell. Another thing i really liked
about this book is how intriguing it was. When I reading one page it was so interesting I would want
to read the next on,then the next one, then the next one, then the I flipped the last page. The book
was so good i finished it in two days. This is why I would definitely rate this book a

Analysis of World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War
I chose to read World War Z An Oral History of the Zombie War. I was looking forward to reading
this book because I enjoy science fiction book because it's more interesting then books that are just
normal books. One thing I liked about this was the plot. I enjoy that it was written to show how
humans would behave if this was actually to happen. I have mixed opinions about how we as a
country would deal with this just because do we fight? Hold up in a secure building? Or do we start
doing experiments on the infected people? I'm not sure what we as American would chose to do?
Would we stay fare or become brutal in the conditions we were put in. in this book we are hearing
and living the stories about how people are trying to understand and not be afraid of this disease. As
we have learned from TV shows and movies if this happens then there doesn't always have a
government. Its people on their own or small groups of people doing what they have too in order to
survive. In this book it's written like news clippings which can be hard to understand but is also
written to seem more real. This book starts out with a doctor receiving a call from a
Parks 2 small village needing medical care. He shows up and sees a few patients in an old hut tied
down with a door that locks from the outside. At first he doesn't understand because no one was
taking care of them, as he is examining them he notices a bite mark that isn't from an animal. The
bite isn't infected but they have fevers and

Analysis Of The Poem ' The Bridge '
Vanessa loves the woods. She goes there every day, after doing her chores, and comes back at
sundown, when the sun seeks under into its bed and while the moon rises up awake. One pleasant
day Vanessa was walking in the woods with her puppy. She came upon a bridge that never seemed
to be there, but Vanessa had taken this path a hundred times but she 's never seen a bridge, since it
was getting late Vanessa left to go home. The very next day when the sun rised over the whole town,
Vanessa quickly and quietly snuck out of the house, she was curious about that bridge, something
about it just hooked her. Once Vanessa had arrived in the woods the same Bridge was there though
she had thought that it would have been way farther, for some reason Vanessa felt like that the
bridge was just waiting for her. She first checked if the bridge was sturdy enough and in her opinion
it was fine, it 's not like spontaneously she is just going to fall into the stream. But SPLASH!
Unfortunately that 's exactly what happened. But It 's not what you think the water barely touched
her she was on land it looked like the same place that she was in before. Then suddenly she heard a
voice. She suspected that it wasn 't really anything just a few teenagers doing some stuff of their
own or just talking. But to her surprise it was no one well no one as a human. There were only trees.,
Vanessa saw a light, it kept coming closer and closer she decided to follow it, whatever it was. The

A Short Story : A Story?
As a kid, Davey never understood why he always got in trouble for the words scrawled in beautiful
cursive on his wrist. Shit, sorry! After a teacher would scold him for the words that were written, he
remembered his mother having to visit the school and explain. Explain what? He wasn't quite sure.
His older sister Sarah told him that the words written on his skin were the first words his soulmate
would say to him. But he never knew why it was so bad if it was what his soulmate said. When
highschool came around, Davey was beyond frustrated with the words written on him. He could've
gotten anything else, but now whenever someone discovers the writing they burst into laughter.
Over the years, he learned to instinctively hide his wrist from people whenever they passed by. "It's
so annoying, Sarah!" Davey groaned, leaning back in his bed while his sister stifled her laughter.
"Yeah it's," She paused, giggling. "It's not fun, is it?" Sarah hadn't met her soulmate yet either, but at
least the words on her wrist weren't something she had to hide. Oh, you're Davey's older sister? "Of
all the things they could've said, they had to swear?!" Sarah shrugged. "It all depends on how you
meet. For all you know, their swearing could be perfectly justifiable." Davey stopped, thinking for a
moment. "I wonder what's written on them..." "Probably you being a total dweeb." "Sarah!" Sarah
burst out in laughter, covering her mouth with her hand. Two weeks had passed, and

Friendship In Recitatif Themes
In "Recitatif," a short story by Toni Morrison, Twyla and Roberta have their ups and downs. First
meeting in a shelter where they were both dropped off, the two develop a friendship. As they grow
older, the two will occasionally run into each other, sometimes things would go well and other times
they would not. And almost every time they do meet up, there is something mentioned about
Maggie. No matter how upsetting the encounter was with Roberta, Twyla was always able to hold
her ground. This goes to show that Twyla is independent, clever, and stubborn which made her a
stronger person.
Living in a shelter, without her mother, Twyla learned how to be independent. For example, despite
what her mother told her about people like Roberta, she made ... Show more content on

Twyla, "You're the same little state kid who kicked a poor old black lady when she was down on the

signs were responses to Roberta's signs. Hers read "MOTHER'S HAVE RIGHTS TOO!" (Morrison

"HOW WOULD YOU KNOW?" (Morrison 152) and the last one read "IS YOUR MOTHER

level to get under her skin. After her last sign asking about Roberta's mother, she stopped showing

Writing Skills And School Habits
For me, writing has always been a challenge. I always felt like that I could not express myself with
the words I had been taught or that somehow I had been left out on the instructions on how to
properly write. It's always frustrated me that writing has been a challenge, and that may be why I
enjoy reading so much because other people seem to have a way with words that I don't. I love
reading other people's words a lot more than my own so much so that I tried avoiding writing as
much as possible. Of course, school involves a lot of writing so it was not like I could permanently
avoid it as much as I wish I could. So when my teacher announced that our class would be writing
plays individually and turning them in to a theatre company, I was not at all excited. I was more like
terrified about someone reading some trashy play I wrote. This moment in my life, however,
changed my writing skills and school habits quite unexpectedly. The experience of writing my own
play and having it performed was significant to me because it taught me about procrastination, hard
work, and originality. 5th grade was like any other school year except that there were a lot more
expectations and responsibilities to go along with it than the previous years, and Mrs. Schillinger
definitely expected a lot from us, at least what I thought was a lot.
"Class, today, I would like to announce a new writing assignment!" she exclaimed with a shining
smile that it blinded the first row of kids. Moans

Imperialism In Hawaii Speech
According to the information present in the speech given by a man named, Sanford J Dole, the
Americans imperializing Hawai'i was a constructive motion. This is due to the fact that throughout
the speech, Dole informs his audience on the benefits both the Hawaiians and Hawai'i would gain
through Hawai'i being a territory of the United States(US). The speech was given on June 10th,
1900, at Iolani Palace, after Dole was elected to be the governor of the Territory of Hawai'i. As the
speech is an original document, it is a primary source. Based on the information provided in the
speech, the message Dole is trying to convey is that the day Hawai'i became a territory of the US, is
one of the most important days in Hawaiian history. This is because ... Show more content on

This primary source assists in answering the question, "Was imperialism constructive or
deconstructive," as it gives numerous examples of how the US imperialising Hawai'i was
constructive. The examples included the ways the Hawaiians and Hawai'i benefited from being a
territory of the US. Since the speech gives a clear western perspective on the US imperialising
Hawai'i and clearly shows the audience whether imperialism was constructive or destructive for a
western perspective, it is valuable. Therefore, the examples and the clear perspective provided
assists in answering the overall question of whether imperialism was constructive or destructive.
Regardless of the valuable information sources possess, they all also have limitations. The first
limitation of the source is that the speech doesn't show both sides of imperialism. This is because the
speech only demonstrates how imperialism was constructive, and doesn't state anything about how it
may have been destructive. Another limitation is that the speech was written from a western
perspective, therefore it was written from the perspective of the people from the country that was

a family. It all started over this young boy to lazy to take out the garbage. His refusing To do so then
involved his other siblings and mother which lead to an all out fight In the family. The resulting
court actions by the father against the mother has empowered this young man to feel he does not
have to do what he is told. The sad part of this all is the fact that the father is using this as a
manipulation tool to stop paying child support for the children. This is a no win situation for the
children. In fact the mental scaring has already begun and will only get worse. In fact this child has
already begun showing cruel behavior towards animals. Because of the greedy action of an "A

The Outsiders Should Not Be Banned
The Outsiders English teachers in middle schools and high schools have been through many debates
over the years on whether or not a certain book should be taught to students in United States public
schooling systems. The Outsiders, is a book that should not be on the list of banned books. Believe
it or not the book has been banned from schools and libraries. The Outsiders should not be banned
because it provides valuable life lessons involving loyalty. Books like this one, that involve gang
members, fighting, shooting, stabbing and other gory incidents, should be portrayed to kids in
middle school and beyond. This generation that people are growing up in nowadays is a weak, soft
generation who need to realize that the world is not always going to be kind to them. The
neighborhoods that a lot of kids live in are safe environments, which is not a bad thing, but they are
unaware of the horrible things that go on in the ghettos or other places in our nation. Books are a
great way to reach out to kids and show them valuable life lessons while also giving them learning
experiences through that English class they are enrolled in. The author of this novel, The Outsiders,
Susan Eloise Hinton, is a very popular author of young adult fiction stories and she is especially
popular in the Oklahoma area because she makes the setting in a lot of her books from that area. She
wrote the books That Was Then, This Is Now, Rumble Fish, Tex, and Taming The Star Runner. The

Analysis Of The Movie Sing
Money is the best motivator in the country. In the movie Sing it shows how using a cash reward will
generate more participants in the talent show. The movie is about a koala, Mr. Moon, who owns a
failing theatre. In an attempt to generate more revenue to pay off his bank debts he decides to host a
singing competition and offers a prize of one thousand dollars to the winner. His secretary
accidently puts one hundred thousand dollars on the fliers. Before they could be looked over, the
fliers fell out of the window and landed all around town. The next day a ton of auditioners showed
up. When the one hundred–thousand–dollar reward is brought up Mr. Moon doesn't correct them
with the right amount since it was because of the enormous cash prize that so many participants
came out. Though Sing is a cartoon movie, there are many different versions of this type of show in
real life such as American Idol. Fear factor is another example of an American television show that
portrays the crazy things people will do for money. This movie shows how important money is by
the characterization and setting; through this it reflects America's love for money. How the
characters come off and their backgrounds show that the money was the reason they decided to try
for their dreams. This is particularly true for two characters, Rosita the pig and Johnny the gorilla.
Rosita is portrayed as a common housewife with two dozen or more piglets running around her
home. Throughout the movie she breaks the

Everyman-a Medieval Play Review
A Review of "The Summoning of Everyman"
Summary
Everyman is a play which was written to express the importance of morality, to whoever read it or
experienced it being performed on stage. Some scholars say that it was written sometime in the late
1400's, while others insist that it is a translation of a Flemish work called "Elckerlijc", which was
written by Peter van Diest in 1495. Everyman is an allegory play which is heavily based upon
Christian religious perspectives; also it is resoundingly similar to the Christian belief of the
resurrection of Christ, and his ascension into Heaven, after the crucifixion.
The first act of Everyman, opens with a prologue which takes on the form of a ... Show more

This play has received a moderate amount of popularity over the past near 500 years; and now today
there are some scholars and researchers whom are exceptionally critical, both positively and
negatively, of the details as to how it was written.
One criticism of note would have to be one which was voiced by Thomas F van Laan. In referring to
the general premise of Everyman, he contends of the writer that "His speech is essentially negative;
he focuses solely on the inevitability of death and the destructiveness of sin". Simply put, Mr. van
Laan is stating that at first, the sole purpose of this work appears to emphasize specifically on death
and how mankind should feel only sorrow for anything that they do, which goes against the
teachings of Christianity.
Another criticism of this work which Mr. van Laan refers to is the point in the beginning when God
first speaks. Mr. Van Laan states: "Gods words are wholly negative in force, implying only the
difficulty to come, omitting any indication of hope for mankind". Mr. van Laan is voicing this
criticism on the opening section of the play, fundamentally about how he considers Gods words to
be too negative in their approach. In expressing this condemnation, Mr. van Laan is adamant about
his beliefs that God would probably not be so disconcerting in his approach to dealing with
mankind.
However not all that Mr. van

The history of the right to bear arms, this has been an American tradition since colonist set foot on
North American soil. Mass murders have been cause by guns does this mean we should only allow
our military to have guns? I believe in the constitution we have the right to bear arms. It was written
in the constitution for a reason. Without guns it makes our country weak. I'm not talking about just
our military having them I'm talking about citizens not being able to have guns.
We have the right to bear arms not only because of the constitution but also for our own safety. In

Guns are dangerous but only when they're in the wrong hands.
Should guns be illegal? Will that solve all the shootings or even reduce them? Doubtful, it may
actually increase the shootings and robberies. Gun is what keep most people in their home safe and
feel safe. If you took guns away from the people who actually use them correctly you would just be
making it easier for the ones who use them illegally. I do believe we need better control on the
illegal guns, as it seems they're too easy to get now. We should be focusing on how to stop illegal
guns coming here rather than focusing on taking them away from the people who acquire them
legally.
We have the right to bear arms this is our American tradition and should stay as it's written in the
constitution. A gun is powerless until someone gets behind it and uses it in the wrong manner. The
people who are using it "legally" use it for safety only and not to harm someone unless they're
threatening their family. The media plays a big part in how guns are displayed and only show the
negative parts to guns. There should be better education on guns but the point shouldn't be to scare
people away from them. Better education and more control on the illegal guns and you wouldn't see
as many shootings as there are today. American citizens have the right to keep their guns and its an

The Drive Successful people become motivated by something, that keeps them going when things
get tough. Malcom X wanted to improve his writing, Lupe Quintanilla wanted to learn English, and
I am motivated to receive a higher education. Drive, that is what all of these individuals have in
common. Something in our lives lead us down the path to better our education it was a tough road
but being motivated kept us going. In Malcom X's short story, A Homemade Education, it talks
about how Malcom was in prison and how he wanted to better his vocabulary and writing so he
could effectively write letters to people. One of the quotes he writes about his frustration trying to
explain what he means in his writings. "I became increasingly frustrated at not being able to express
what I wanted to convey in letters that I wrote, especially those to Mr. Elijah Muhammad. In the
street, I had been the most articulate hustler out there – I had commanded attention when I said
something. But now, trying to write simple English, I not only wasn't articulate, I wasn't even
functional" (Malcom 437). When I decided to go back to school, I struggled with learning Algebra
and I felt like I wasn't even functional. Much like Malcom, I began trying to understand Algebra by
thinking about what the problems were and trying to work through the problems. He explained how
he practiced writing repetitively from the dictionary to learn and how he would wake up and would
think about what he had learned.

Analysis Of The Book ' The Tour '
"Well, here we are," he said at last.
Yuki was afraid. Afraid of what might happen if her frail limbs couldn't drag her deadweight body
another inch. But, from the loud silence of the barren land she was lugging herself across by the
direction of a boy, she heard a shout from ahead of her. They had finally arrived. Where exactly,
Yuki had no clue.
Their tour guide eventually led them to a large building covered in rough–looking black tarpaper.
Yuki then realized they had finally arrived at Barrack 2, where she and her family and close friends
would be living for the rest of their lives. Yuki was hoping it was more colorful on the inside than it
was on the outside. But at that moment, she didn't care. The sun was beating down on them, dust
was drifting into her respiratory system, causing her to cough constantly, and she was parched.
Shriveled as she was, she felt as though her skin could be peeled from the bone. They all walked
through the huge door on the side of the building. The feel of air conditioning made everyone there
sigh with relief and ignore the fact that they entered their own living hell. The push of cold air was
like a punch in the face. Smells were rushing through Yuki's little nose. The scent was pungent; like
mold and possibly a dead animal.

What Does Luck Or Opportunity Mean
"Luck or Opportunity," what does this term really mean? It's quite a tough phrase to define, so i'll

it means exactly as it says. The phrase is basically describing one's gifts from life (or blessings as
some may say), and their success. It's dealing with the common good of people and things
happening around us. The meaning of the phrase is extremely universal to some but for me it's a
good thing. "Luck or Opportunity?" Would you really use this phrase in relations to something bad,
or horrible? Personally I wouldn't, the phrase is more like something that would be walking into

Summary Of Orientation By Daniel Orozco
The short story "Orientation" by Daniel Orozco is exactly what the title suggests. An orientation of
the new office job somebody has just received. However, the story delves much deeper into the lives
of several employees at this office. Orozco's employment of somber satire in "Orientation" displays
how alienated a community can become in corporate environments. The way in which Orozco
structured this story is very effective to the reader as well. Orozco depicted an office setting that
emphasizes regulations and unnecessary procedures, as well as corporate uniformity and
bureaucracy. When the narrator begins to spill the secrets and quirks of each person in the office but

this is illustrated when the narrator tells the new person the office is haunted by Barry Hacker's dead

The Perks of Being a Wallflower Compare and Contrast Essay
The Perks of being a Wallflower Compare and Contrast The book and the movie for The Perks of
Being a Wallflower are extremely different, and I believe that the movie is much better than the
book. The book is written much differently than the movie. There are lots of scenes that are in the
book but not in the movie and that are in the movie not the book. The movie focuses less on the
bigger, depressing topics than the book does. The characters in the movie are also much different
than they are in the book. Their personalities are very different in the movie than the author
described them as in the book. The movie, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, is directed very

In the movie, the only time you see Charlie crying is at the end, when he blacks out and attempts to
commit suicide. There are many scenes and details that were in the book, but were left out of the
movie, one thing that differentiates the movie from the book, is the change in character's
personalities and the relationships between the characters. In the book, Candace and Charlie seem
like they don't get along extremely well. Like any brother and sister, they fight quite a lot and they
get in many arguments. But Candace seems like she is much meaner to him in the book than she is
to him in the movie. In the movie Candace is much nicer to Charlie, and just nicer in general.
Patrick is quite similar in the movie to how he was in the book, except for his personality. In the
book, Patrick seems less carefree and funny. It seems like he is a jokester, but he can also be very
serious at times. While in the movie he can't be taken seriously and he always is trying to lighten the
mood. Even when he and Brad were going through a rough spot in their relationship, he was still
messing around and cracking jokes. Charlie was the character that is the most different in the book
and in the movie. In the book, Charlie is portrayed as weak, nerdy and extremely awkward. But in
the movie he is a tougher character and he seems a lot less quiet and shy. One way the movie shows
that Charlie is not very weak is how he only cries once at the end. While in the book he cries all

Analysis Of RIDE By Eric Lane
On November 18, 2017, I saw the Richland College Theatre Department's production of RIDE by
Eric Lane. In this essay, I will express what we're the exceptional things that I saw. Also, I will use
terms from what I learned from class, to explain some factors that I interpreted from the play.
Starting off, I love this play, it was hilarious but serious at the same time, it had this dark twist and I
believe it was tragic comedy, it had the whole audience captivated and I felt like the message of the
play was meet with everyone in the room. There was moments that happen throughout the play that
explain those dark twisted moments that made people laugh but didn't realize the deeper meaning to
it: Sam, is Carrie little sister and she has so much energy, and when Carrie and Molly fight and they
start yelling at each other, she will sit down and keep distance from them and starts naming state
birds, for me I felt like the fighting made Sam uncomfortable so in order to cope with it, she names
state birds to stir her concentration to something else. A lot of tragic moments happen to the
characters, and all got a moment to express how they felt and how they are handling with hard
moments of their life's, specially Carrie, where there would be sudden scenes where the spotlight
would hit her and she gets a moment to talk about certain things she feels of the death of her father.
The humor of RIDE, gives an uplifting mood to the play, and it's all thanks to the characters, to

Heaton manor letter
After reading the letter from Heaton manor I realised that this letter was written formally. This is
because the way the writer has written it is professional. The letter was drafted to the student 's
parents about a trip. They used the words 'Dear' at the beginning and 'Yours Faithfully' at the end of
the page, which is only used if you are writing to a person that you do not know.
However, they wrote the letter to 'Parents and Careers' so that it is generalised to whoever is taking
care of the child. This is because it is harder to write a letter to each parent. Also, 'Career' is used so
that nobody is offended.
Although, it would have been exceeding if they wrote to each parent, this would make the parents
know that they have taken their time to write to each parent so their child could go to the trip. Also,
they have added the date. This material is added to show when the letter was written.
The address isn 't added. Previously stated, this is because it would have taken the Head of ICT
longer, especially as they might not know the addresses of each student. Also, most of the logos are
either combined at the top or at the bottom of the page. This is used to show which company or
school this is from. In this letter, the colour blue is mostly used, for example, the logo. The

Essay on Alabama Moon by Watt Key
Soapstone: Alabama Moon
Characters:
In the novel Alabama Moon a boy named Moon is the main character. Moon is very independent
because throughout the story he does a lot of things on his own including living alone. On page 3 I
found out that he was ten years old because it said "I was ten years old and he'd taught me
everything I needed to know about living out in the forest." So this showed me that he knew how to
live in his own out in the forest and that he was ten years old which was pretty young to be living on
his own out in the forest. At first when Moon was scared and lonely without his dad he was
aggressive with the other characters. On page 27 Moon really showed his anger toward
Mr.Abroscotto
"I felt anger flash through my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I like living in the forest. I don't know where else I'd live, but I don't wanna be by myself. We were
always by ourselves. We didn't ever see anybody except Mr.Abroscotto." This quote shows how
Moon is developing through the story. That is how the main character is developed through the story
and how the main character interacts with the other characters.
Ideas:
The main idea through the beginning of the story is Moon trying to survive in the forest by himself
and trying to fight off everyone. Then over time Moon realizes that he doesn't want to live in the
forest anymore and fight against anyone anymore. The conflict in the story happens a lot in the
beginning of the story because Moon is trying to stay hidden but then towards the end of the story
he doesn't want to be alone for the rest of his life and fight off everyone that tries to take him away
or help him. On page 3 he said "Pap said he even figured I could whip somebody three times my
size. He wasn't worried about me." So that quote shows that he was thinking that he could just beat
up anyone that tried to take him away from the forest or anything else. But later in the story when he
found out that he couldn't just do that and get away with it he stopped doing it. On page 239 Moon
was talking to a policeman and the policeman said, "You're not gonna bit me or nothin', are you?
Nossir. I'm not aimin' to try and whip up on anybody anymore. I don't aim to bust out of anywhere,
either."

An Hour Response
In "Story of an Hour", written by Kate Chopin, there were quite a few unexpected events. Initially, I
expected the story to be longer than two pages. I also thought that the story's name could have been
different. For example, the story instantly starts off by talking about Mrs. Mallard's heart problem,
and that fact is repeated throughout the story. Why not title it something like "Matters of the Heart"?
But, after reading the story I realized that time is an important aspect of the story– all the events in
the story happen within the hour, and Mrs. Mallard mentions time on multiple occasions– "She
breathed a quick prayer that life might be long. It was only yesterday she had thought with a shudder
that life might be long" (Page 279). In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe that the first theme this story shows is that life can change in an instant. This shows
multiple times throughout the story, such as when it was believed that Mr. Mallard died "With
Brently Mallard leading under the list of "killed" " (Page 278) or when Mrs. Mallard did actually die
"When the doctors came they said she had died of heart disease– of joy that kills" (Page 280). This
leads me to my second theme, which is to not take things for granted. Mrs. Mallard might not have
loved her husband the way he had loved her, but she expected to see him come home that day. The
same could be said when Mrs. Mallard was comprehending her newfound freedom– she had hoped
for (and expected to) live a life after her husband had "died"– "Spring days, and summer days, and
all sorts of days that would be her own" (Page 279). On a lighter note, the third theme I believed
was in this story was to not jump to conclusions unless you see it for yourself. Mrs. Mallard
believed that her husband had died because her husband's name was in the newspaper on the list of
those killed in a rail accident. Obviously, the mistake was not intentional, but it had severe results. I
also believe that this story's message was mainly a bash on society as a whole. This story reflects
how society treated women in the 1800s– which was not good. Back then, women were treated
horribly and granted, things are not perfect now, but

I Am A Blonde Bombshell
Just like every other young girl at the age of ten, I screamed and cried for the Jonas brothers as they
sang "Burnin up" on my living room television. But, there was someone else who intriguingly
caught my attention every night in that same living room, her name was Tricia. Tricia, the second
oldest, blonde bombshell took the center of attention every night, as she dazzled everybody away
with her college etiquette. Behind her beauty, honor roll achievements, and being the only member
in our family to attend college, there was something else that I admired more than just Tricia herself;
it was the "gibberish" she spoke. It wasn 't "goo–goo gaga" baby gibberish. Her "gibberish" was
fluent, constant, bold, and captivating. She made every story sound interesting, and could keep her
audience listening in awe. Tricia's "gibberish" was state of the art vocabulary words I have never
even heard before, words that I never even knew existed. She baffled me with her sentences
containing words like; hackneyed, jubilation, and perfidious. "How could I gain this "gibberish"?"
"Did I have to be blonde?" "I was not smart enough?" Of course, these are some of the bizarre
viewpoints; I questioned myself about on, how I could obtain such "gibberish". I yearned to sound
"smart" just like Tricia, which later on led me to my obsession with Sanabria 2 enhancing every
aspect of my vocabulary. After spending sometime researching, I found that reading, writing,

possible. But take a closer look. Her face shows no sign of defeat. Instead, the girl is smiling, But
why? Then she stops dead in her tracks. Grabs her phone puts on headphones, then resumes pacing.
Back and forth. Only this time around she starts convulsing, with unusual jerking movements. To
the untrained eye, this girls looks as though she needs help. However, she is a star. What we don't

dance, but if you were to watch her now she looks insane. In reality, though, when the music comes
on it is all her, she only wants to dance, because she misses it. If you happen to walk in on this it is
best to smile and back away calmly, because she is having the time of her life. Reliving old
memories, and aspiring to create new ones. What a great story. Dancing. Old memories. At first
glance you would possibly think that this story is about memories, inspiration, a hidden talent
maybe? Sadly no. This story is going nowhere near that. Soon after wearing herself out the girl
proceeds to grab her laptop and leaps onto the bed grasping for anything to hoist herself up. Once

Explication of The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost Essay
Explication of The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost
When reading "The Road Not Taken," by Robert Frost, I found that it was personal, especially to the
author. The fact that it was written in first person form helped me to conclude that it was probably
about the author. I think the reasoning behind his writing of this poem was because in life, you have
many obstacles to overcome and many choices and decisions to make, which opens a path that leads
the way to your future. Since those things relate to Frost, I think it motivated him to write this poem
on a personal basis, like a short autobiography on his life. It motivated him because he could then
tell others about his life and give advice and guidance to the people that read his ... Show more

The thing that always holds true though, is that the major issues people's lives are always ironically
similar to each other or, at least can relate to them in many ways. Therefore, I found that this poem
not only symbolizes or relates to the author, but it also symbolizes or holds true to almost
everybody's lives.
One of the major symbols within this poem is the roads. When he says "Two roads diverged in a
yellow wood," he is using the roads to symbolize the paths, choices, and decisions that he has to
make in his life. Those decisions guide the way to his future, because when you come to a two way
street or road you have to decide or make a choice on which path to take. Also when he says "And
sorry I could not travel both And be on traveler," he is telling us how he is insecure on which road to
take because he is unsure of what's ahead and would like to travel both roads to come up with a
conclusion or a decision on the correct road to take. So overall, what road basically symbolizes in
this poem is the options that he has in his life and the decisions that he has to make.
Another symbol in this poem is the many observations that he makes. When he says "long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth," he is using his
observations to symbolize the brainstorming, analyzing, and thinking you have to do before or ahead
of time when you are offered two options in your life and only one path to take.

The Open Window In Kate Chopin's Short Story Of An Hour
To begin with, Kate Chopin uses symbolism in a way that gives the readers multiple ways to
interpret. The symbol of the open window could be interpreted many ways but I took this as a
symbol of her newly found independence. She had just found out that her husband had died in the
railroad disaster; after the news was given to her from her sister and husbands' friend she found
herself up in her room facing the open window. While in her room sitting by this open window she
starts feel something new. Chopin illustrates that Mrs. Mallard was feeling something new by noting
that "she felt it, creeping out of the sky, reaching toward her through the sounds, the scents, the color
that filled the air" (39). By sitting near the open window, she starts ... Show more content on

Chopin uses the point of view of third person omniscient because Mrs. Mallard does not know
everything the reader does at first. One example would be in the beginning when she does not know
her husband is dead and only Josephine and Richard knows of that news. Another example would be
that the story continues after Mrs. Mallard had died from the heart disease. The point of view is
important because if it was written in any other form than the we, the readers would not have known
what Mrs. Mallard was feeling after she got the news or what the doctors had to say after she had
died. If we say that the story was written in Josephine point of view, we would have thought that
Mrs. Mallard was in her room drinking or making herself ill; "Louise, open the door! I beg; open the
door–you will make yourself ill." (40). Or if it was Mr. Mallards point of view we, the readers
would not have known that any of this had happened because he did not that the accident had
happened; "He had been far from the scene of accident, and did not even know there had been one"
(41). Chopin had written in this point of view so the readers could be involved in all of the

Society and Technology in "The Anthem" Essay
Now–a–days, when we think of the future, we picture flying cars, and being able to transport. In the
novel "The Anthem" society and technology as we know it had been driven to an entirely new
direction. The characters in the society do not have the right to speak freely nor do anything that
they wish. They lost all of their freedom, they couldn't even think for themselves. The society had to
think as a whole, the word "I" did not exist in their vocabulary. The society is very balanced, and
everyone fears the thought of even questioning it. Up until one man known as Equality 7–25271
wants the answers to all of his questions. The novel is expressed as Equality 7–2521's diary. All of
his thoughts and feelings are shown in his writing, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the many benefits of having the novel written in a diary format, is that you get to really
understand what the character feels about his surroundings. Most of the other people in the society
don't notice their setting nor do they have knowledge of anything else. Equality 7–2521 describes
his surroundings as being small and dark, all the buildings which are plain mark the housing of
several different people. All the citizens of this society are over–worked and tired yet they have no
intention of complaining because they fear the punishment. This novel would not be the same if it
was written in any other form other then a diary, as well as if the novel was written in first person. It
would not have to same effect on the readers. There are so many diaries, but all are written in the
first person, so "The Anthem" is unique. We get a better understanding when Equality 7–2521 writes
in third person, without it, we would only hear his thoughts and observations instead of the ones he
has gathered from others. To illustrate, when he first meets Liberty 5–3000, the readers were able to
pick up some signs that she shows, these prove that she was a bit interested in him. But Equality 7–
2521 in the other hand found himself very attracted to her, and as if to not make any obvious
communication, he decides to admire her from afar and she does the same to him. Equality later

The poem "Carrickfergus" was written by an Irish writer called Louis
MacNeice in The 20th Century. It was written in four line stanzas and now I am going to analyse
this poem and talk about each stanza.
In the first line of the first stanza, we notice that the child Louis
MacNeice is using specific detail in his poem as he says he was born in Belfast between the
mountain and the gantries. MacNeice was brought up among a lot of divisions and when there was a
lot of trouble going on, he mentions divisions in his second stanza when he says, "The

In the next stanza MacNeice says that the church is to the blame for all the wrongs going on, I
assume he says this because he doesn't like the church but I believe he genuinely doesn't think the
church is too blame. All throughout this poem, MacNeice mentions the
Normans various times; I think that he is emphasizing his knowledge of
Irish history. MacNeice also tells us that his father was a rector and he was banned forever from the
candles of the Irish poor; again he is showing divisions by saying the Irish are poor. In this same
stanza he talks about the Chichesters who are a rich Irish family.
The war then starts and Louis uses sensory images; sight and sound.
The sight images he uses are the horse with long Dummies hanging from gibbets for bayonet
practice, and the sound images he uses is sentry's challenge echoing all day long. These images
make the poem more realistic. He then goes on and states that a Yorkshire terrier ran to the gate
lodge, marched at ease and sang, "Who killed Cock Robin"? The troops then went out to the lodge
and off to the front, the information he is giving us here isn't too significant but it does give us an

Journey's End Journey
20th Century Drama – The name of this play is Journey's End, written by R. C. Sherriff.
Introduction
The name of this play is Journey's End, written by R. C. Sherriff. The play was first preformed on a
Sunday night in December 1928. By 1929 it was being shown at the Savoy Theatre where it ran for
two years.
Later I will be studying the characters of Stanhope and Osborne, and how they link in with the title
"Journey's End", and I will also examine the idea of journeys. I will also study the impact the play
had, why it was so successful and journeys of the minor characters,
Hibbert, Raleigh and Trotter.

It starts at the beginning of the play, with him complaining of neuralgia. Stanhope doesn't believe
that Hibbert really has neuralgia, but thinks he is using it as an excuse to get out of the front line.
Later, Hibbert tries to leave, to go see the doctor so he can go home, but Stanhope confronts
Hibbert who still tries to leave. Stanhope threatens to shoot Hibbert, who stands there and shows
courage by telling Stanhope to shoot him.
This is a turning point in Hibbert's journey. Stanhope has realized that Hibbert may not actually have
neuralgia, but may just be terrified of what may happen in the war. Stanhope tells Hibbert that he is
terrified of what may happen, and in that moment, Hibbert decides to stay, and to fight on. That is
the major event in Hibbert's journey. Hibbert's journey went from being scared to showing courage
and bravery by staying. His journey ends in the big German attack at the end of the play.
Trotter's journey is simpler, and mostly revolves around food, and where his next meal is coming
from. Back home trotter is a keen gardener, and has grown a prize Hollyhock. His journey ends in
the big
German attack at the end of the play.
Raleigh's journey is, and has been, strongly influenced by Stanhope, and his presence in Raleigh's
life. Stanhope knew Raleigh before the war, as their fathers were friends. When he first arrives in the
trenches, at the beginning of the play, he is very enthusiastic about

how these chains have "love for children" and provides a safe and "clean" environment. The whole

The Marble Shrimp By Gary Soto Summary
There are many great written short stories in the world. One of these texts is called, "The Marble
Champ," by Gary Soto. This is a very interesting story about a girl named Lupe. Lupe is a great
leader, and role model to other people. I know this because in the story, Lupe never gave up, she was
very determined and worked very hard for what she wanted, and she was a good sport. In this text,
Lupe never thought that she was very athletic, but never doubted that she couldn 't be. So, she
decided to start the sport of marbles. One of the reasons that Lupe is a leader is because she was
very determined and a hard worker. For example, when Lupe was in doubt, when she was not strong
enough, she would keep trying. Consequently, because of this, she would do 20 push–ups on her
finger tips to strengthen her wrists, and she would practice, non–stop. I have trouble doing push–ups
on my hands, let alone my fingertips! Another thing that Lupe did, to get her thumb stronger, was
that she squeezed a rubber eraser many times until it was very sore. This is a tough thing to do! Her
thumb got so beat up, she even had to start eating with her left hand! It 's like Lupe went on a run,
and in the middle of the run, she got very tired and didn 't think that she could keep going, but she
kept going anyway to get stronger and win the championship. Another thing that shows how
determined lupe was, is that she never doubted herself achieving her being athletic goal. She didn 't

When I read Sonnet 43, "How do I love thee?" I was very impressed with it. I have read a lot of
things about love, and I do know a lot about love as well. When reading it, I was very intrigued with
how much the writer described their love for this person, and the depths they went to describe it as
well. It is a true love from what I can read, especially from the lines "I love thee to the depth and
breadth and height", "I love thee purely, as they turn from praise. I love thee with the passion put to
use", "With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath, Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God

The ryhme scheme of this piece of literature is very good. It doesn't exactly ryhme with each new
sentence, but it doesn't have to. The scheme is the same with every line, and they all work together
to form a great poem and sonnet. I like sonnets because they are short and sweet, and get right down
to the point. The schemes help enhance the sonnet by making us use our more sophisticated words,
words from back then such as: Thee, shall, praise, ideal, grace, soul, and breadth. The use of these
words help to make the sonnet sound more from the time it was written in. And that is always
important, it's like a setting in a way because it helps to establish that the piece was written in the
Victorian Age. My interpretation of this piece of literature is that is was simply wonderful, it was
thought out very well and the writer was very clear of their feelings and of their thoughts to this one
person they were speaking about. It really goes to show that feelings overtake everything, and that
when a love is so powerful, everybody is able to see it. Not just the writer and the person they are
talking about, if you use your words clearly enough

A Book That Is So New And Fresh On The Literary Scene
Reading a book that is so new and fresh on the literary scene that even the professor has yet to finish
reading it is something that I don't encounter very often on college courses that often have a
tendency to focus on books that are at least ten years old. In addition to this novel being so new, it
was also special in the fact that it took place in the area that we are studying it in. This gives the
class the opportunity to talk about the piece in the way that they can really relate to, and this is only
more true when the author of the book is able to come and speak with the class. So with these things
being taken into consideration, being able to read and analyze this book in this class is definitely a
notable opportunity. Reading this specific piece of creative nonfiction is a perfect example of how
much of a privilege getting a college education as a top tier university truly is. This book is part of
the longstanding American tradition of men to write about their experiences in nature. It is important
to note how important nature is in the scope of American literature. The ability for a person the
retreat into nature is what makes differentiated American life and the books based on it from the
European country that it gained independence from. This nature writing was revitalized by
Transcendentalists such as Emerson and Thoreau who normalized the narrative of the everyman
being able to go into nature and learn about himself and the environment that he is a part of.

The Glass Menagerie By F. Scott Fitzgerald

  • 1. The Glass Menagerie By F. Scott Fitzgerald The Glass Menagerie is arguably the most symbolic and deep plays ever written. The Glass Menagerie isn't just a story of Laura's disability, it has a deeper meaning behind it, and it can be easily overlooked by mediocre minds. Although the story revolves around the Wingfield family, Tennessee Williams throws in symbolism that corresponds with his childhood. In a way, he found closure for the loss of his sister Rose through writing The Glass Menagerie. One of the symbols is the play that holds a different meaning for each of the characters is the fire escape. As the play evolves the fire escape brings out Laura's, Tom's, and Amanda's true desires. OR The fire escape like the other symbols hold a deeper understanding of the characters, and although Tennessee didn't admit that he wrote this story off of his own experiences as a child having dealt with similar circumstances, it's obvious it was written about his childhood. So, the symbolism also makes a deeper understanding of Tennessee himself and the kind of life he lived. As I said the fire escape shows the desire of escape, the realization of danger within the Wingfield home, and the characters' true qualities are brought out by the fire escape. For Laura, the fire escape is symbolic to show how interdependent she is on other people once she slipped and fell. It signified that she can't even go outside alone without getting hurt. Laura always needs someone to be with her. The real world is too much for Laura; she could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Michael Vey: Hunt For Jade Dragon The title of this book I read is called Michael Vey: Hunt for Jade Dragon. The author of this book is Richard Paul Evans. In this book the ElectroClan found out about little chinese girl who was kidnapped by the Elgen and they had to rescue her. Later on, the ElectroClan were captured by Elgen and had to make a quick escape. In the end, they had to save the Jade Dragon, which they did in the end, and they had to send her to another country so, she would never be found. Ben moved the Jade Dragon so the Elgen and ElectroClan wouldn't ever find where she lived. The significant passage of this book happens when they were about to leave to Taiwan. " 'I tell you this to prepare you. As you saw in Peru, you were not celebrated for liberating their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once you read one it's best to read the next so you can keep reading all of the great adventures and rescuing they do. Additionally, I would also recommend to young teenagers about 13–15 who are looking for a good book series to read. That way they would have books to read for a couple months or so without stressing about finding a book. Finally, I would recommend this book to anyone who has previously read any Percy Jackson books. This is because they are a little similar but different when it comes to powers and adventures. That is who I would recommend this book too. I rate this book a 10 because of the way it was written. Each page would have more and more details about that part in the book. If they were in a cell, they would describe the cell. Another thing i really liked about this book is how intriguing it was. When I reading one page it was so interesting I would want to read the next on,then the next one, then the next one, then the I flipped the last page. The book was so good i finished it in two days. This is why I would definitely rate this book a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Analysis of World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War I chose to read World War Z An Oral History of the Zombie War. I was looking forward to reading this book because I enjoy science fiction book because it's more interesting then books that are just normal books. One thing I liked about this was the plot. I enjoy that it was written to show how humans would behave if this was actually to happen. I have mixed opinions about how we as a country would deal with this just because do we fight? Hold up in a secure building? Or do we start doing experiments on the infected people? I'm not sure what we as American would chose to do? Would we stay fare or become brutal in the conditions we were put in. in this book we are hearing and living the stories about how people are trying to understand and not be afraid of this disease. As we have learned from TV shows and movies if this happens then there doesn't always have a government. Its people on their own or small groups of people doing what they have too in order to survive. In this book it's written like news clippings which can be hard to understand but is also written to seem more real. This book starts out with a doctor receiving a call from a Parks 2 small village needing medical care. He shows up and sees a few patients in an old hut tied down with a door that locks from the outside. At first he doesn't understand because no one was taking care of them, as he is examining them he notices a bite mark that isn't from an animal. The bite isn't infected but they have fevers and ... • 7. Analysis Of The Poem ' The Bridge ' Vanessa loves the woods. She goes there every day, after doing her chores, and comes back at sundown, when the sun seeks under into its bed and while the moon rises up awake. One pleasant day Vanessa was walking in the woods with her puppy. She came upon a bridge that never seemed to be there, but Vanessa had taken this path a hundred times but she 's never seen a bridge, since it was getting late Vanessa left to go home. The very next day when the sun rised over the whole town, Vanessa quickly and quietly snuck out of the house, she was curious about that bridge, something about it just hooked her. Once Vanessa had arrived in the woods the same Bridge was there though she had thought that it would have been way farther, for some reason Vanessa felt like that the bridge was just waiting for her. She first checked if the bridge was sturdy enough and in her opinion it was fine, it 's not like spontaneously she is just going to fall into the stream. But SPLASH! Unfortunately that 's exactly what happened. But It 's not what you think the water barely touched her she was on land it looked like the same place that she was in before. Then suddenly she heard a voice. She suspected that it wasn 't really anything just a few teenagers doing some stuff of their own or just talking. But to her surprise it was no one well no one as a human. There were only trees., Vanessa saw a light, it kept coming closer and closer she decided to follow it, whatever it was. The unusual light took ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. A Short Story : A Story? As a kid, Davey never understood why he always got in trouble for the words scrawled in beautiful cursive on his wrist. Shit, sorry! After a teacher would scold him for the words that were written, he remembered his mother having to visit the school and explain. Explain what? He wasn't quite sure. His older sister Sarah told him that the words written on his skin were the first words his soulmate would say to him. But he never knew why it was so bad if it was what his soulmate said. When highschool came around, Davey was beyond frustrated with the words written on him. He could've gotten anything else, but now whenever someone discovers the writing they burst into laughter. Over the years, he learned to instinctively hide his wrist from people whenever they passed by. "It's so annoying, Sarah!" Davey groaned, leaning back in his bed while his sister stifled her laughter. "Yeah it's," She paused, giggling. "It's not fun, is it?" Sarah hadn't met her soulmate yet either, but at least the words on her wrist weren't something she had to hide. Oh, you're Davey's older sister? "Of all the things they could've said, they had to swear?!" Sarah shrugged. "It all depends on how you meet. For all you know, their swearing could be perfectly justifiable." Davey stopped, thinking for a moment. "I wonder what's written on them..." "Probably you being a total dweeb." "Sarah!" Sarah burst out in laughter, covering her mouth with her hand. • 11. Friendship In Recitatif Themes In "Recitatif," a short story by Toni Morrison, Twyla and Roberta have their ups and downs. First meeting in a shelter where they were both dropped off, the two develop a friendship. As they grow older, the two will occasionally run into each other, sometimes things would go well and other times they would not. And almost every time they do meet up, there is something mentioned about Maggie. No matter how upsetting the encounter was with Roberta, Twyla was always able to hold her ground. This goes to show that Twyla is independent, clever, and stubborn which made her a stronger person. Living in a shelter, without her mother, Twyla learned how to be independent. For example, despite what her mother told her about people like Roberta, she made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Here, Roberta and Twyla get into a small fight and Maggie was once again brought up. Roberta tells Twyla, "You're the same little state kid who kicked a poor old black lady when she was down on the ground." (Morrison 151). This led to Twyla participating in the counter picketing. All of Twyla's signs were responses to Roberta's signs. Hers read "MOTHER'S HAVE RIGHTS TOO!" (Morrison 150). One day, Twyla's sign said, "AND SO DO CHILDREN" (Morrison 152). Another day, it was "HOW WOULD YOU KNOW?" (Morrison 152) and the last one read "IS YOUR MOTHER WELL?" (Morrison 152). She was not going to let Roberta win this battle, so she took it to a deeper level to get under her skin. After her last sign asking about Roberta's mother, she stopped showing up. • 15. Writing Skills And School Habits For me, writing has always been a challenge. I always felt like that I could not express myself with the words I had been taught or that somehow I had been left out on the instructions on how to properly write. It's always frustrated me that writing has been a challenge, and that may be why I enjoy reading so much because other people seem to have a way with words that I don't. I love reading other people's words a lot more than my own so much so that I tried avoiding writing as much as possible. Of course, school involves a lot of writing so it was not like I could permanently avoid it as much as I wish I could. So when my teacher announced that our class would be writing plays individually and turning them in to a theatre company, I was not at all excited. I was more like terrified about someone reading some trashy play I wrote. This moment in my life, however, changed my writing skills and school habits quite unexpectedly. The experience of writing my own play and having it performed was significant to me because it taught me about procrastination, hard work, and originality. 5th grade was like any other school year except that there were a lot more expectations and responsibilities to go along with it than the previous years, and Mrs. Schillinger definitely expected a lot from us, at least what I thought was a lot. "Class, today, I would like to announce a new writing assignment!" she exclaimed with a shining smile that it blinded the first row of kids. Moans ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Imperialism In Hawaii Speech According to the information present in the speech given by a man named, Sanford J Dole, the Americans imperializing Hawai'i was a constructive motion. This is due to the fact that throughout the speech, Dole informs his audience on the benefits both the Hawaiians and Hawai'i would gain through Hawai'i being a territory of the United States(US). The speech was given on June 10th, 1900, at Iolani Palace, after Dole was elected to be the governor of the Territory of Hawai'i. As the speech is an original document, it is a primary source. Based on the information provided in the speech, the message Dole is trying to convey is that the day Hawai'i became a territory of the US, is one of the most important days in Hawaiian history. This is because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This primary source assists in answering the question, "Was imperialism constructive or deconstructive," as it gives numerous examples of how the US imperialising Hawai'i was constructive. The examples included the ways the Hawaiians and Hawai'i benefited from being a territory of the US. Since the speech gives a clear western perspective on the US imperialising Hawai'i and clearly shows the audience whether imperialism was constructive or destructive for a western perspective, it is valuable. Therefore, the examples and the clear perspective provided assists in answering the overall question of whether imperialism was constructive or destructive. Regardless of the valuable information sources possess, they all also have limitations. The first limitation of the source is that the speech doesn't show both sides of imperialism. This is because the speech only demonstrates how imperialism was constructive, and doesn't state anything about how it may have been destructive. Another limitation is that the speech was written from a western perspective, therefore it was written from the perspective of the people from the country that was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Written By; Richard L Rose' 9 June 2011 Commentary: On 6 June 2011 in the Moore County courthouse I witnessed These actions where a 12 year old boy being coached by his father, tore apart a family. It all started over this young boy to lazy to take out the garbage. His refusing To do so then involved his other siblings and mother which lead to an all out fight In the family. The resulting court actions by the father against the mother has empowered this young man to feel he does not have to do what he is told. The sad part of this all is the fact that the father is using this as a manipulation tool to stop paying child support for the children. This is a no win situation for the children. In fact the mental scaring has already begun and will only get worse. In fact this child has already begun showing cruel behavior towards animals. Because of the greedy action of an "A typical uneducated Southern redneck" which has no compassion for his own children their lives will be ruined. The Outsiders Should Not Be Banned The Outsiders English teachers in middle schools and high schools have been through many debates over the years on whether or not a certain book should be taught to students in United States public schooling systems. The Outsiders, is a book that should not be on the list of banned books. Believe it or not the book has been banned from schools and libraries. The Outsiders should not be banned because it provides valuable life lessons involving loyalty. Books like this one, that involve gang members, fighting, shooting, stabbing and other gory incidents, should be portrayed to kids in middle school and beyond. This generation that people are growing up in nowadays is a weak, soft generation who need to realize that the world is not always going to be kind to them. The neighborhoods that a lot of kids live in are safe environments, which is not a bad thing, but they are unaware of the horrible things that go on in the ghettos or other places in our nation. Books are a great way to reach out to kids and show them valuable life lessons while also giving them learning experiences through that English class they are enrolled in. The author of this novel, The Outsiders, Susan Eloise Hinton, is a very popular author of young adult fiction stories and she is especially popular in the Oklahoma area because she makes the setting in a lot of her books from that area. She wrote the books That Was Then, This Is Now, Rumble Fish, Tex, and Taming The Star Runner. The Outsiders was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Analysis Of The Movie Sing Money is the best motivator in the country. In the movie Sing it shows how using a cash reward will generate more participants in the talent show. The movie is about a koala, Mr. Moon, who owns a failing theatre. In an attempt to generate more revenue to pay off his bank debts he decides to host a singing competition and offers a prize of one thousand dollars to the winner. His secretary accidently puts one hundred thousand dollars on the fliers. Before they could be looked over, the fliers fell out of the window and landed all around town. The next day a ton of auditioners showed up. When the one hundred–thousand–dollar reward is brought up Mr. Moon doesn't correct them with the right amount since it was because of the enormous cash prize that so many participants came out. Though Sing is a cartoon movie, there are many different versions of this type of show in real life such as American Idol. Fear factor is another example of an American television show that portrays the crazy things people will do for money. This movie shows how important money is by the characterization and setting; through this it reflects America's love for money. How the characters come off and their backgrounds show that the money was the reason they decided to try for their dreams. This is particularly true for two characters, Rosita the pig and Johnny the gorilla. Rosita is portrayed as a common housewife with two dozen or more piglets running around her home. Everyman-a Medieval Play Review A Review of "The Summoning of Everyman" Summary Everyman is a play which was written to express the importance of morality, to whoever read it or experienced it being performed on stage. Some scholars say that it was written sometime in the late 1400's, while others insist that it is a translation of a Flemish work called "Elckerlijc", which was written by Peter van Diest in 1495. Everyman is an allegory play which is heavily based upon Christian religious perspectives; also it is resoundingly similar to the Christian belief of the resurrection of Christ, and his ascension into Heaven, after the crucifixion. The first act of Everyman, opens with a prologue which takes on the form of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This play has received a moderate amount of popularity over the past near 500 years; and now today there are some scholars and researchers whom are exceptionally critical, both positively and negatively, of the details as to how it was written. One criticism of note would have to be one which was voiced by Thomas F van Laan. In referring to the general premise of Everyman, he contends of the writer that "His speech is essentially negative; he focuses solely on the inevitability of death and the destructiveness of sin". Simply put, Mr. van Laan is stating that at first, the sole purpose of this work appears to emphasize specifically on death and how mankind should feel only sorrow for anything that they do, which goes against the teachings of Christianity. Another criticism of this work which Mr. van Laan refers to is the point in the beginning when God first speaks. Mr. Van Laan states: "Gods words are wholly negative in force, implying only the difficulty to come, omitting any indication of hope for mankind". Mr. van Laan is voicing this criticism on the opening section of the play, fundamentally about how he considers Gods words to be too negative in their approach. In expressing this condemnation, Mr. van Laan is adamant about his beliefs that God would probably not be so disconcerting in his approach to dealing with mankind. However not all that Mr. van ... Mass murders have been cause by guns does this mean we should only allow our military to have guns? I believe in the constitution we have the right to bear arms. It was written in the constitution for a reason. Without guns it makes our country weak. I'm not talking about just our military having them I'm talking about citizens not being able to have guns. Should guns be illegal? Will that solve all the shootings or even reduce them? Doubtful, it may actually increase the shootings and robberies. Gun is what keep most people in their home safe and feel safe. If you took guns away from the people who actually use them correctly you would just be making it easier for the ones who use them illegally. I do believe we need better control on the illegal guns, as it seems they're too easy to get now. We should be focusing on how to stop illegal guns coming here rather than focusing on taking them away from the people who acquire them legally. We have the right to bear arms this is our American tradition and should stay as it's written in the constitution. A gun is powerless until someone gets behind it and uses it in the wrong manner. The people who are using it "legally" use it for safety only and not to harm someone unless they're threatening their family. The media plays a big part in how guns are displayed and only show the negative parts to guns. There should be better education on guns but the point shouldn't be to scare people away from them. Better education and more control on the illegal guns and you wouldn't see as many shootings as there are today. American citizens have the right to keep their guns and its an American ... Something in our lives lead us down the path to better our education it was a tough road but being motivated kept us going. In Malcom X's short story, A Homemade Education, it talks about how Malcom was in prison and how he wanted to better his vocabulary and writing so he could effectively write letters to people. One of the quotes he writes about his frustration trying to explain what he means in his writings. "I became increasingly frustrated at not being able to express what I wanted to convey in letters that I wrote, especially those to Mr. Elijah Muhammad. In the street, I had been the most articulate hustler out there – I had commanded attention when I said something. But now, trying to write simple English, I not only wasn't articulate, I wasn't even functional" (Malcom 437). When I decided to go back to school, I struggled with learning Algebra and I felt like I wasn't even functional. Much like Malcom, I began trying to understand Algebra by thinking about what the problems were and trying to work through the problems. But, from the loud silence of the barren land she was lugging herself across by the direction of a boy, she heard a shout from ahead of her. They had finally arrived. Where exactly, Yuki had no clue. Their tour guide eventually led them to a large building covered in rough–looking black tarpaper. In this essay, I will express what we're the exceptional things that I saw. Also, I will use terms from what I learned from class, to explain some factors that I interpreted from the play. Starting off, I love this play, it was hilarious but serious at the same time, it had this dark twist and I believe it was tragic comedy, it had the whole audience captivated and I felt like the message of the play was meet with everyone in the room. There was moments that happen throughout the play that explain those dark twisted moments that made people laugh but didn't realize the deeper meaning to it: Sam, is Carrie little sister and she has so much energy, and when Carrie and Molly fight and they start yelling at each other, she will sit down and keep distance from them and starts naming state birds, for me I felt like the fighting made Sam uncomfortable so in order to cope with it, she names state birds to stir her concentration to something else. A lot of tragic moments happen to the characters, and all got a moment to express how they felt and how they are handling with hard moments of their life's, specially Carrie, where there would be sudden scenes where the spotlight would hit her and she gets a moment to talk about certain things she feels of the death of her father. AS APPLIED ICT Sadia Begum Unit 1: GO40 – Using ICT to Communicate REPORT Task A– A report comparing two types of business document from each of the three organisations. Heaton manor letter After reading the letter from Heaton manor I realised that this letter was written formally. This is because the way the writer has written it is professional. The letter was drafted to the student 's parents about a trip. They used the words 'Dear' at the beginning and 'Yours Faithfully' at the end of the page, which is only used if you are writing to a person that you do not know. However, they wrote the letter to 'Parents and Careers' so that it is generalised to whoever is taking care of the child. This is because it is harder to write a letter to each parent. Also, 'Career' is used so that nobody is offended. Although, it would have been exceeding if they wrote to each parent, this would make the parents know that they have taken their time to write to each parent so their child could go to the trip. Also, they have added the date. This material is added to show when the letter was written. The address isn 't added. Previously stated, this is because it would have taken the Head of ICT longer, especially as they might not know the addresses of each student. That is how the main character is developed through the story and how the main character interacts with the other characters. Ideas: The main idea through the beginning of the story is Moon trying to survive in the forest by himself and trying to fight off everyone. Then over time Moon realizes that he doesn't want to live in the forest anymore and fight against anyone anymore. The conflict in the story happens a lot in the beginning of the story because Moon is trying to stay hidden but then towards the end of the story he doesn't want to be alone for the rest of his life and fight off everyone that tries to take him away or help him. On page 3 he said "Pap said he even figured I could whip somebody three times my size. He wasn't worried about me." So that quote shows that he was thinking that he could just beat up anyone that tried to take him away from the forest or anything else. But later in the story when he found out that he couldn't just do that and get away with it he stopped doing it. On page 239 Moon was talking to a policeman and the policeman said, "You're not gonna bit me or nothin', are you? Nossir. I'm not aimin' to try and whip up on anybody anymore. • 51. An Hour Response In "Story of an Hour", written by Kate Chopin, there were quite a few unexpected events. Initially, I expected the story to be longer than two pages. I also thought that the story's name could have been different. For example, the story instantly starts off by talking about Mrs. Mallard's heart problem, and that fact is repeated throughout the story. Why not title it something like "Matters of the Heart"? But, after reading the story I realized that time is an important aspect of the story– all the events in the story happen within the hour, and Mrs. Mallard mentions time on multiple occasions– "She breathed a quick prayer that life might be long. It was only yesterday she had thought with a shudder that life might be long" (Page 279). In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that the first theme this story shows is that life can change in an instant. This shows multiple times throughout the story, such as when it was believed that Mr. Mallard died "With Brently Mallard leading under the list of "killed" " (Page 278) or when Mrs. Mallard did actually die "When the doctors came they said she had died of heart disease– of joy that kills" (Page 280). This leads me to my second theme, which is to not take things for granted. Mrs. Mallard might not have loved her husband the way he had loved her, but she expected to see him come home that day. The same could be said when Mrs. Mallard was comprehending her newfound freedom– she had hoped for (and expected to) live a life after her husband had "died"– "Spring days, and summer days, and all sorts of days that would be her own" (Page 279). On a lighter note, the third theme I believed was in this story was to not jump to conclusions unless you see it for yourself. Mrs. Mallard believed that her husband had died because her husband's name was in the newspaper on the list of those killed in a rail accident. Obviously, the mistake was not intentional, but it had severe results. I also believe that this story's message was mainly a bash on society as a whole. This story reflects how society treated women in the 1800s– which was not good. Back then, women were treated horribly and granted, things are not perfect now, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tricia, the second oldest, blonde bombshell took the center of attention every night, as she dazzled everybody away with her college etiquette. Behind her beauty, honor roll achievements, and being the only member in our family to attend college, there was something else that I admired more than just Tricia herself; it was the "gibberish" she spoke. It wasn 't "goo–goo gaga" baby gibberish. Her "gibberish" was fluent, constant, bold, and captivating. She made every story sound interesting, and could keep her audience listening in awe. Dancing. Old memories. At first glance you would possibly think that this story is about memories, inspiration, a hidden talent maybe? Sadly no. This story is going nowhere near that. • 57. Explication of The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost Essay Explication of The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost When reading "The Road Not Taken," by Robert Frost, I found that it was personal, especially to the author. The fact that it was written in first person form helped me to conclude that it was probably about the author. I think the reasoning behind his writing of this poem was because in life, you have many obstacles to overcome and many choices and decisions to make, which opens a path that leads the way to your future. Since those things relate to Frost, I think it motivated him to write this poem on a personal basis, like a short autobiography on his life. It motivated him because he could then tell others about his life and give advice and guidance to the people that read his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The thing that always holds true though, is that the major issues people's lives are always ironically similar to each other or, at least can relate to them in many ways. Therefore, I found that this poem not only symbolizes or relates to the author, but it also symbolizes or holds true to almost everybody's lives. One of the major symbols within this poem is the roads. When he says "Two roads diverged in a yellow wood," he is using the roads to symbolize the paths, choices, and decisions that he has to make in his life. Those decisions guide the way to his future, because when you come to a two way street or road you have to decide or make a choice on which path to take. Also when he says "And sorry I could not travel both And be on traveler," he is telling us how he is insecure on which road to take because he is unsure of what's ahead and would like to travel both roads to come up with a conclusion or a decision on the correct road to take. So overall, what road basically symbolizes in this poem is the options that he has in his life and the decisions that he has to make. Another symbol in this poem is the many observations that he makes. When he says "long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth," he is using his observations to symbolize the brainstorming, analyzing, and thinking you have to do before or ahead of time when you are offered two options in your life and only one path to take. ... • 59. The Open Window In Kate Chopin's Short Story Of An Hour To begin with, Kate Chopin uses symbolism in a way that gives the readers multiple ways to interpret. The symbol of the open window could be interpreted many ways but I took this as a symbol of her newly found independence. She had just found out that her husband had died in the railroad disaster; after the news was given to her from her sister and husbands' friend she found herself up in her room facing the open window. While in her room sitting by this open window she starts feel something new. Chopin illustrates that Mrs. Mallard was feeling something new by noting that "she felt it, creeping out of the sky, reaching toward her through the sounds, the scents, the color that filled the air" (39). By sitting near the open window, she starts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chopin uses the point of view of third person omniscient because Mrs. Mallard does not know everything the reader does at first. One example would be in the beginning when she does not know her husband is dead and only Josephine and Richard knows of that news. Another example would be that the story continues after Mrs. Mallard had died from the heart disease. The point of view is important because if it was written in any other form than the we, the readers would not have known what Mrs. Mallard was feeling after she got the news or what the doctors had to say after she had died. If we say that the story was written in Josephine point of view, we would have thought that Mrs. Mallard was in her room drinking or making herself ill; "Louise, open the door! I beg; open the door–you will make yourself ill." (40). Or if it was Mr. Mallards point of view we, the readers would not have known that any of this had happened because he did not that the accident had happened; "He had been far from the scene of accident, and did not even know there had been one" (41). • 63. Society and Technology in "The Anthem" Essay Now–a–days, when we think of the future, we picture flying cars, and being able to transport. In the novel "The Anthem" society and technology as we know it had been driven to an entirely new direction. The characters in the society do not have the right to speak freely nor do anything that they wish. They lost all of their freedom, they couldn't even think for themselves. The society had to think as a whole, the word "I" did not exist in their vocabulary. The society is very balanced, and everyone fears the thought of even questioning it. Up until one man known as Equality 7–25271 wants the answers to all of his questions. The novel is expressed as Equality 7–2521's diary. All of his thoughts and feelings are shown in his writing, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the many benefits of having the novel written in a diary format, is that you get to really understand what the character feels about his surroundings. Most of the other people in the society don't notice their setting nor do they have knowledge of anything else. Equality 7–2521 describes his surroundings as being small and dark, all the buildings which are plain mark the housing of several different people. All the citizens of this society are over–worked and tired yet they have no intention of complaining because they fear the punishment. This novel would not be the same if it was written in any other form other then a diary, as well as if the novel was written in first person. It would not have to same effect on the readers. There are so many diaries, but all are written in the first person, so "The Anthem" is unique. We get a better understanding when Equality 7–2521 writes in third person, without it, we would only hear his thoughts and observations instead of the ones he has gathered from others. To illustrate, when he first meets Liberty 5–3000, the readers were able to pick up some signs that she shows, these prove that she was a bit interested in him. But Equality 7– 2521 in the other hand found himself very attracted to her, and as if to not make any obvious communication, he decides to admire her from afar and she does the same to him. The poem "Carrickfergus" was written by an Irish writer called Louis MacNeice in The 20th Century. It was written in four line stanzas and now I am going to analyse this poem and talk about each stanza. In the first line of the first stanza, we notice that the child Louis MacNeice is using specific detail in his poem as he says he was born in Belfast between the mountain and the gantries. MacNeice was brought up among a lot of divisions and when there was a lot of trouble going on, he mentions divisions in his second stanza when he says, "The Scotch Quarter was a line of residential houses, but the Irish Quarter was a slum for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the next stanza MacNeice says that the church is to the blame for all the wrongs going on, I assume he says this because he doesn't like the church but I believe he genuinely doesn't think the church is too blame. All throughout this poem, MacNeice mentions the Normans various times; I think that he is emphasizing his knowledge of Irish history. MacNeice also tells us that his father was a rector and he was banned forever from the candles of the Irish poor; again he is showing divisions by saying the Irish are poor. In this same stanza he talks about the Chichesters who are a rich Irish family. The war then starts and Louis uses sensory images; sight and sound. The sight images he uses are the horse with long Dummies hanging from gibbets for bayonet practice, and the sound images he uses is sentry's challenge echoing all day long. These images make the poem more realistic. He then goes on and states that a Yorkshire terrier ran to the gate lodge, marched at ease and sang, "Who killed Cock Robin"? The troops then went out to the lodge and off to the front, the information he is giving us here isn't too significant but it does give us an account off some troops at ... The play was first preformed on a Sunday night in December 1928. By 1929 it was being shown at the Savoy Theatre where it ran for two years. Later I will be studying the characters of Stanhope and Osborne, and how they link in with the title "Journey's End", and I will also examine the idea of journeys. Stanhope doesn't believe that Hibbert really has neuralgia, but thinks he is using it as an excuse to get out of the front line. Later, Hibbert tries to leave, to go see the doctor so he can go home, but Stanhope confronts Hibbert who still tries to leave. Stanhope threatens to shoot Hibbert, who stands there and shows courage by telling Stanhope to shoot him. This is a turning point in Hibbert's journey. Stanhope has realized that Hibbert may not actually have neuralgia, but may just be terrified of what may happen in the war. Stanhope tells Hibbert that he is terrified of what may happen, and in that moment, Hibbert decides to stay, and to fight on. That is the major event in Hibbert's journey. Hibbert's journey went from being scared to showing courage and bravery by staying. His journey ends in the big German attack at the end of the play. Trotter's journey is simpler, and mostly revolves around food, and where his next meal is coming from. Back home trotter is a keen gardener, and has grown a prize Hollyhock. There are commercials on TV or phones that only anticipate the next visit. The author shows how these chains have "love for children" and provides a safe and "clean" environment. The whole essay is written an in informal manner to apply to a younger audience. A young audience that craves attention overall and does not worry much about the economic or political aspect that usually ties with the word "revolution." He also went back and forth to first, second and third person throughout this essay. It adds to the purpose because he is connecting in a personal level while also painting a bigger picture. • 74. The Marble Shrimp By Gary Soto Summary There are many great written short stories in the world. One of these texts is called, "The Marble Champ," by Gary Soto. This is a very interesting story about a girl named Lupe. Lupe is a great leader, and role model to other people. I know this because in the story, Lupe never gave up, she was very determined and worked very hard for what she wanted, and she was a good sport. In this text, Lupe never thought that she was very athletic, but never doubted that she couldn 't be. So, she decided to start the sport of marbles. One of the reasons that Lupe is a leader is because she was very determined and a hard worker. For example, when Lupe was in doubt, when she was not strong enough, she would keep trying. Consequently, because of this, she would do 20 push–ups on her finger tips to strengthen her wrists, and she would practice, non–stop. I have trouble doing push–ups on my hands, let alone my fingertips! Another thing that Lupe did, to get her thumb stronger, was that she squeezed a rubber eraser many times until it was very sore. This is a tough thing to do! Her thumb got so beat up, she even had to start eating with her left hand! It 's like Lupe went on a run, and in the middle of the run, she got very tired and didn 't think that she could keep going, but she kept going anyway to get stronger and win the championship. Another thing that shows how determined lupe was, is that she never doubted herself achieving her being athletic goal. She didn 't care what would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have read a lot of things about love, and I do know a lot about love as well. When reading it, I was very intrigued with how much the writer described their love for this person, and the depths they went to describe it as well. It is a true love from what I can read, especially from the lines "I love thee to the depth and breadth and height", "I love thee purely, as they turn from praise. I love thee with the passion put to use", "With my lost saints. I love thee with the breath, Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death." This brings light to the piece, and makes us see calm candle light and the sweet days sun which helps us to see the love the same way. Imagery can help a piece of literature by giving us visuals, and when speaking about love it is hard to capture that. But this piece had a good way of doing it. The ryhme scheme of this piece of literature is very good. It doesn't exactly ryhme with each new sentence, but it doesn't have to. The scheme is the same with every line, and they all work together to form a great poem and sonnet. I like sonnets because they are short and sweet, and get right down to the point. The schemes help enhance the sonnet by making us use our more sophisticated words, words from back then such as: Thee, shall, praise, ideal, grace, soul, and breadth. The use of these words help to make the sonnet sound more from the time it was written in. And that is always important, it's like a setting in a way because it helps to establish that the piece was written in the Victorian Age. My interpretation of this piece of literature is that is was simply wonderful, it was thought out very well and the writer was very clear of their feelings and of their thoughts to this one person they were speaking about. It really goes to show that feelings overtake everything, and that when a love is so powerful, everybody is able to see it. Not just the writer and the person they are talking about, if you use your words clearly enough ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Book That Is So New And Fresh On The Literary Scene Reading a book that is so new and fresh on the literary scene that even the professor has yet to finish reading it is something that I don't encounter very often on college courses that often have a tendency to focus on books that are at least ten years old. In addition to this novel being so new, it was also special in the fact that it took place in the area that we are studying it in. This gives the class the opportunity to talk about the piece in the way that they can really relate to, and this is only more true when the author of the book is able to come and speak with the class. So with these things being taken into consideration, being able to read and analyze this book in this class is definitely a notable opportunity. Reading this specific piece of creative nonfiction is a perfect example of how much of a privilege getting a college education as a top tier university truly is. This book is part of the longstanding American tradition of men to write about their experiences in nature. It is important to note how important nature is in the scope of American literature. The ability for a person the retreat into nature is what makes differentiated American life and the books based on it from the European country that it gained independence from. This nature writing was revitalized by Transcendentalists such as Emerson and Thoreau who normalized the narrative of the everyman being able to go into nature and learn about himself and the environment that he is a part of. ...
