Summary of the Company American Airlines, Inc. (American) was founded in 1934 and is the principal
subsidiary of AMR Corporation. American provides aircraft services to around 160 destinations around the
world. American Airlines has connections to 3 regional carriers. Two carriers are owned by AMR (American
Eagle and Executive Airlines). The third carrier is owned by a third party (Republic Airways Holdings) that
has no connection to AMR. These regional carriers serve to connect feed from major hubs to smaller regional
airports that do not have international service. The major hubs for American are Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago
O'Hare, New York City (JFK), Miami and Los Angeles.

same thing as Jing but I actually know how to use screencast. Screencast is a screen recorder website that in
this case was used for my business process. With screencast I saw how much I would frequently stop to look
at the American Eagle website or to check my email or social media. My process was prolonged by my
frequent stops for snacks and chatter with friends and my roommate. My room is always loud because we
have plenty of visitors throughout the day; I learned to try to work around the noise. If for some reason I'm
not in my room I'm usually out on the steps of the dorms; it's not cool out there but it's a lot quieter with
fewer visitors so I get a lot more finished.

the market. As the airlines began to face a deregulatory reality of competition and the resulting pressure on
cost containment during the early 1980s, airline management put pressure on labor to provide the airlines
with financial relief, in order to survive. Reducing labor costs appeared to be the strategy of choice for many
carriers in the drive to maintain a competitive position in the industry if not only for mere survival. Despite
the carrier pressure on airline labor in the deregulatory era, the airline industry remained one of the
strongholds of traditional industrial relations. Union density was estimated to be at 39.5 percent in the late
deregulatory period between 1983 and 1997. On the other hand, representation rates reached almost 50
percent during this regulatory period 5(Hirsh and Macpherson, 2000). Many believe that deregulation leads
to an erosion of union effectiveness, while regulation leads to increase in union effectiveness. Despite the
change in regulation of the industry, relations and negotiations between airlines and their labor unions
continues to be conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Railway Labor Act (RLA). This act
