What Does the Parameters for NVR Selector Mean?
Frames Per Second
1-9 FPS: Low level activity areas such as an entrance door or parking lot.
10-20 FPS: Intermediate action where no specific detailed information is required.
21-30 FPS: Fast moving objects and objects close to camera that need to be free from motion blur.
Resolution
The level of detail that can be shown from an image. The higher the resolution, the more you will see in the frame
of a picture. Surveillance Station supports the original resolutions offered by your camera specification. NVR
Design Tool offers 5 resolutions as a reference to help you estimate the suitable DiskStation model.
Video Format
H.264 encoder use inter frame prediction to reduce video data. In most cases offers better compression than
MJPEG. However, it requires better decoding capability on the client PC.

Special Note
1. Cameras in this test are Axis 1346 using medium compression rate with 50% motion setting, no audio, and
recording for 24 hours a day.
2. Result of this tool is based on controlled environment. Image sizes will depend heavily on motion, please
add big overhead to your system estimate, and remember live test in real working environments is always
better.
3. DiskStations in this test are equipped with 3TB HDD (DS411slim uses 1TB), using Synology Hybrid
RAID (SHR) for models with 2 bays or more. Max Storage Space is calculated with expansion units (If
applicable). Different HDD size and RAID Type may result in different results.
