3. The expression «adolescent discomfort» refers to a form of
suffering, a process due to the difficulties that the adolescent
encounters facing his developmental tasks
As regards this phenomenon, Regoliosi (1994) refers to:
- EVOLUTIONARY ENDOGENOUS DISCOMFORT;
- SOCIOCULTURAL ENDOGENOUS DISCOMFORT;
- CHRONIC DISCOMFORT;
4. The counselling service is addressed to students who live
a «disadvantage» and ask for help.
This disadvantage can be cultural, socio-economic,
personal and even linguistic and it is necessary to provide
to students requiring help an adequate personalized
answer.
THE ACTIONS OF OUR SCHOOL
5. From an inclusive point of view:
We try :
• To give value to the differences
• To involve families, institutions, associations
• To remove all the obstacles in the learning processes
• To create a positive climate so that you can feel an integral part of the group,
enhancing and supporting each other
To improve the students’ self-esteem
We try :
• To recognize the pupils’ abilities and efforts
• To recognize the students’ enthusiasm
• To highlight successes and minimize mistakes
• To involve pupils in solving problems, for examples through role-playing
games
6. IMPACT ON THE STUDENTS
A lot of students ask for help spontanously
Some are advised by their teachers;
Others are advised by their classmates using the service.
At the beginning they are nervous and shy
They are in a difficult situation and look for a help
Lots of them, after some meetings, can find the answer through
co-participation and wish to change
7. Many students continue to come to the counselling service
A small part leaves after the first meeting showing
indifference and minimizing the problems
It is to be noted a great success in the cases where the
students benefit the service continuously
Parents can be involved in this service but only a small part is
really interested in this project
8. Ban Bullying Day and Safe Internet Day
Since February 7th 2017 in view of the Safe Internet Day,
issued by the European Commission, the national day against
bullying is celebrated every year
9.
10. Cyberbullying
Hurting someone using technology, via email, chat rooms, text
messages, discussion groups, online social media, instant
messaging or websites. For example, being teased or made fun of
online, having unpleasant comments, pictures or videos about
you sent or posted on social media or websites, having someone
use your screen name or password and pretending to be you to
hurt someone else.
11. You can’t always see the signs of bullying:
•belongings getting “lost” or damaged
•physical injuries such as unexplained bruises
•being afraid to go to school, being mysteriously 'ill' each morning, or skipping
school
•not doing as well at school
•asking for, or stealing, money (to give to a bully)
•being nervous, losing confidence, or becoming distressed and withdrawn
•problems with eating or sleeping
•bullying others.
12. OUR SCHOOL TRY TO PROMOTE MEASURES TO PREVENT AND FIGHT CYBERBULLYING
ACCORDING TO THE ITALIAN LAW 107/2015
❑ Developing digital skills, aiming at a critical and conscious use of Social network
and the media as declined by the National Digital School Plan
13. ❑ Raising awareness of responsible use of the Net and of digital relationships in
an informative and co-participatory dimension
❑ Even the Internet has its own rules, its dangers and its wonders. Surely you
can surf the Net, find a site, but that’s not enough! There are rules to know
and respect because otherwise it becomes all too dangerous. Because we
want to have fun on the web, not to get hurt
14. We remind our students that when
we post on facebook or write a
comment on the chat of the social
media
WE ARE NEVER ALONE!
15. Always talk about it, because silence becomes a stone and
the stones become walls and the walls deep distances
16. OTHER SUPPORTING SERVICES FOR
STUDENTS
• Help English : a support given to students who
have some difficulties in the learning of
English language
• Italian L2 : a support given to the foreign
students attending this school to fill the
linguistic and cultural gap between their
language and culture and the Italian ones.
