1. LO3 Revision – Be able to plan the pre-production
of a media product
You have been hired as sound specialists to plan and
record the soundtrack to go alongside a short film.
The film will be a five minute tense drama which involves
the following action:-
 A group of three friends meet in the street
 They go into a café to talk
 They order tea, and talk about their plans
 They get up and go their separate ways
You have been provided with an assembly edit of the film
footage. You have six weeks to finalise the soundtrack for a
final edit of the video. The client wants you to identify at
least two milestone dates to check on progress.
1. Create a production schedule, including
a. The different specific audio elements that will
need to be created or sourced
b. Tasks that need to be done
c. Job roles required to carry out the tasks
d. Deadlines for each task
e. Project milestones that need to be achieved (10
marks)
2. Identify the resources that would be required to
prepare the different audio elements required. (5
marks)
3. Identify a legal issue, an ethical issue and a health
and safety issue that will arise in the project and
explain how you will ensure they are dealt with
properly. (5 marks)
4. Explain how your production schedule makes the
most efficient use of time, personnel and resources.
