2. Kheda
• The Kheda Communications Project or KCP is a field laboratory that
aimed at the development and local communication in Kheda
district of Gujarat.
• This project began in 1975 and continued till 1990. The site chosen
for the experiment was Kheda district, which is an area near the
SAC headquarters in Ahmedabad.
• Kheda Communications Project is believed to be a milestone in the
history of Indian television.
• The Development and Education Communication Unit managed this
project and produced the development and educational
programmes that involved the local audience.
• This project was the tested for the production of research based
participatory development programmes receiving worldwide
recognition and acceptance.
3. Jhabua Project
• The Jhabua Development Communications
Project (JDCP) uses satellite communication to
address the needs of the rural illiterate
population and provide programme support
communication to development efforts.
• The project is located in Jhabua, a
predominantly rural area with a large tribal
population in the state of Madhya Pradesh in
central India.
4. • The project broadcasts development-oriented
programmes to reach viewers every evening
and conducts training for village development
functionaries and participants such as
teachers, anganwadi (village level/urban slum-
based day care centres run by the government
under the Integrated Child Development
Scheme) workers, hand pump mechanics and
panchayat (local village government)
members.
5. Aadhaar
• Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identity number
issued to all Indian residents based on
their biometric and demographic data.
• The Unique Identification Authority of India
(UIDAI) is a statutory authority established under
the provisions of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery
of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and
Services) Act, 2016 (“Aadhaar Act 2016”) on 12
July 2016 by the Government of India, under the
Ministry of Electronics and Information
Technology.
6. • Aadhaar is the world's largest biometric ID
system, with over 1.19 billion enrolled members
as of 30 November 2017, representing over 99%
of Indians
• UIDAI was created with the objective to issue
Unique Identification numbers (UID), named as
"Aadhaar", to all residents of India that is (a)
robust enough to eliminate duplicate and fake
identities, and (b) can be verified and
authenticated in an easy, cost-effective way.
7. SITE
• Satellite Instructional Television Experiment or SITE was an
experimental satellite communications project launched in India in
1975 , designed jointly by NASA and the Indian Space Research
Organisation (ISRO).
• The project made available informational television programmes to
rural India.
• The main objectives of the experiment were to educate the poor
people of India on various issues via satellite broadcasting, and also
to help India gain technical experience in the field of satellite
communications.
• The SITE educational programmes were also aimed at making the
children sensitive to, and learn, community living and improve their
basic concepts and skills in the areas of numeracy, language and
Science.
