This training resource provides an overview of the Global Navigation features in Blackboard Learn.

Global Navigation
Step 1: Global Navigation is located in the upper right hand corner.

Step 2: Begin by clicking on the arrow to the right of your name. By default, a list of courses recently visited will
display.

Step 3: Below Courses, is a Tool menu. Clicking on Tools will display a sub-menu with a list of available tools.

Step 4: Below Tools, is Settings. Under the Settings sub-menu you will find additional options. You can access your
Personal Information from this menu.

Step 5: To the right, under Global Navigation, you will find an additional menu, which includes Blackboard Home,
Posts, Updates, Retention Center, and Calendar.

Step 6: Clicking the Blackboard Home icon allows you to see your calendar events for the week, as well as any posts
that have been recently made in the course discussion forums.

Step 7: By selecting the Posts icon you can click on a post and it will display in the content box to the right. You can
click Reply while viewing a post here to quickly reply without entering the forum.

Step 8: A new window and provide a message area for your reply post. To add this post to the respective forum, click
the green Submit button.

Step 9: The clock icon will bring up a list of recent Updates in your course. You can open or dismiss the updates by
clicking on the blue open or dismiss links. Clicking on the wheel in the upper right corner will allow to select which
updates appear in this area.

Step 10: The next icon corresponds with the Retention Center. Clicking this link will allow you to access the
Retention Center, which displays missed deadlines, logons and posts.

Step 11: The final icon corresponds with the Calendar. Clicking on the icon displays ALL of the calendars for all of the
courses that you are enrolled in. You can select which calendars you want to display by selecting or de-selecting the
boxes next to each calendar that is listed.

Step 11: To exit Global Navigation and return to your course list, click on the arrow next to your name, and then click
on the course you want to enter.
