3. You can add a profile picture and change your info here.
4. Under Email and Text Updates, you should uncheck the boxes so you don’t get
emails every time someone joins a group or posts a note. You may want to turn
this back on when students join so you can moderate their usage.
7. Quizzes and Polls
Find the sample quiz
and poll that I put in
our group and give it a
try.
8. Assignments
Teachers can post assignments for students to complete and turn in online.
Find this assignment in our group and click “Turn In.”
9. Follow the directions to
complete the sample
assignment. Be sure to
click “Turn in Assignment”
when you are finished.
10. Posting Messages
You will type your
message to a group
in this box.
Files and links can be attached to posts here. You
can even schedule a post to be sent at a later time
using the clock symbol.
11. This “Send to” line tells you whether the post is going to a group or to a
teacher. Remember, students cannot post privately to other students.
Practice sending a post by typing in what school you teach at and what
grade level. Hit “Send” when you are finished to share that post with
our group.
12. Filtering Posts
Once a lot of students start
using the Edmodo group,
there will be many posts. You
can use the “Filter posts by”
feature to search the feed for
a particular post.
You can search by author or by
the type of post – like
an assignment, poll or quiz.
13. Edmodo Planner
On the right hand side, click on this Planner button
and check that out. It is a calendar feature.
14. The planner will help the students and teachers keep track of
assignments, activities and due dates. Users can also add in
their own events and they will be notified when those events are
coming up.
15. Practice adding a new event to your Planner. Hover your mouse
over a date and click the plus sign that appears to open this box and
then create a pretend event. Hit the black X on the top right to exit
the Planner and get back to the Edmodo home screen.
16. Notifications
The little red Notification circle on the top right lets you know that you have
something new to look at. Edmodo sends Notifications about new assignments,
new group members, new direct messages, etc. I tell the children to check the
Notification area first when they log in.
17. Progress
Next to the Home button
is the Progress button that
allows you to see the
assignments completed
and grades.
18. Badges
Badges are awarded
from the Progress button
or on a student’s Profile page.
They can be a great motivation.
It’s like an online sticker for their
profile.
You can choose from badges that
Edmodo has available or create
your own.
19. Discover
This is where Edmodo will make recommendations to you
about things they think will be of interest to you.
20. Library
The Library allow you to share and organize files and links to share with
others in your groups.
21. Teachers and
students can also
connect to their
Google Drive
here. On the student
version of Edmodo, it
is called a Backpack
instead of the
Library. The
students can use
their Backpack as
Cloud storage
Library
22. Group Code
This is the group code that you would give to the students to join your
group. You can change the code or lock the group so no one else can
join. Students cannot see the group code.
23. App Store
This is where you can locate and purchase Apps – some are free. Then students
can access that website through their Edmodo account. So children would only
have to log into one place – not many different websites.
24. Manage Apps
This is where you manage the Apps that you already purchased and
assign them to the group you want to use it.
25. Launch Apps
This is where you start the Apps you have purchased to play
the game or use the website.
26. Snapshot
This is a new feature from Edmodo that creates quizzes based on the Common
Core. Below is a link to more info. There is also a video you can watch. Look
for the link to that video on the top right corner of that webpage.

27. Communities
Communities are a great way to connect with other teachers around the
world to share ideas and learn new things. You’ll find the Communities
on the left hand side under your Groups.
28. You can follow Communities based on Subject Area or Platforms. Once
you follow a Community, the posts for that group will show up on your
Edmodo homepage.
29. Explore and have fun with Edmodo!
Please ask me if you have any
questions
You can now download the Edmodo
app and try logging in from your iPad.
Most features of the site are the same
but you’ll notice a few differences.
