The practice of basing all beliefs and practice
strictly on evidence (allegedly) separates
science from other activities - Kuhn, 1996. The
evidence-based professional practice entails
methodological decision-making based on
analysis and synthesis of evidence derived
from the latest research. ‘‘Evidence-based’’ is
typically read in medicine and other life and
social sciences as the empirically adequate
standard of reasonable practice and a means
for increasing certainty. However, how
‘evidence’ has been problematized in the
philosophy of science should give us pause and
a reason why we must care to be cautious with
the enthusiasm of"evidence-based" claims.
The appeal to the authority of evidence that
characterizes evidence-based practices does
not increase objectivity but rather obscures
the subjective elements that inescapably enter
all forms of human inquiry. The seeming
common sense of Evidence-Based Medicine
only occurs because of its assumed removal
from the social context of medical practice. In
the current age where the institutional power
of medicine is suspect, a model that
represents biomedicine as politically
disinterested or merely scientiﬁc should give

The race between education and technology:
The American educational system had always
been less elitist than that of most other
nations, and by 1900 the US had begun to
educate its masses at the secondary level. US
educational attainment remained at the
forefront-until recently." During the ﬁrst eight
decades of the twentieth century
technological change boosted the demand for
educated workers, while the supply of
educated workers more than kept pace.
Educational attainment grew at exceptionally
rapid rates, thereby lowering inequality at the
same time incomes increased. America grew
together. Technological change has continued
to increase the demand for educated workers,
but since about 1980 an educational slowdown
has produced rising inequality. America has
been growing apart.

Self-assurance and internal validation is key to
happiness. Please dstinguishe between two
types of working hard: workaholism, a “bad”
type of working hard, and work engagement, a
“good” type of working hard. Building on Deci
and Ryan's Self‐Determination Theory, the
study, linked below, examined the motivational
correlates of workaholism, work engagement,
and burnout (a possible consequence of
working hard), using data from Chinese health
care professionals. As expected, high levels of
workaholism were associated with high levels
of introjected regulation; i.e., doing something
in order to maintain self-esteem or pride or to
avoid guilt or anxiety. High levels of work
engagement were mainly associated with high
levels of intrinsic regulation; and that high
levels of burnout were mainly associated with
low levels of intrinsic regulation.
Cardiac arrest after 159 additional hours in
one month. This scenario is chilling, but it is
repeated too often in Japan. In Japanese it’s
called “karoshi,” or death by overwork.

Why can be Emotional, i.e., what is going on
in/on our Mind (which is personal or
"Subjective"). Education and training helps us
to be "Objective" and we "hypothesize" what is
"real" and test it by the scientific method
which includes "peer review". But this does not
mean we should stop asking Why; but we do.
Why? Because we stop yearning to fill gaps on
the map of our reality.

conclude in a set time and limited resources.
So, we must keep monitoring with open mind.
We must make corrections when new evidence

based on the beneﬁts of generic anti-cancer
drugs manufactured in India. Story of Lu Yong
who was diagnosed with chronic myeloid
leukaemia in 2002, and was taking Gleevec.
This cost him 23,500 yuan a month. Then, in
2004, Lu began to use a version of the same
medicine, called Veenat, from India which cost
him only 3,000 yuan.
Hopeless- again suspended production at a
long-troubled sterile injectables plant in India
that the FDA has twice before cited for
manufacturing and testing issues. As a patient
would I trust any thing that comes out of this
plant? NO. End this cycle.

is essential. I don't much appreciate the "right
vs left brain" description. I prefer integrated
thinking.

Powering America Beyond the Age of the Great
Stagnation (2013), Tyler Cowen. Average Is
Over. In its place is a world of income disparity,
with big earners and big losers. The future
Professor Cowen paints is pretty bleak for the
majority of Americans. For instance, “the less
wealthy will be pushed out of the nicer living
areas." The quality of the water and electrical
infrastructure might be low by American
standards, though we could supplement the
neighborhood with free municipal wireless….”
(p. 244). This is not a future I want to see.
Yearning to ﬁll gaps is a action because I care
and know the ledge Prof. Cowen describes. The
measure of self-motivation in a young person
will become the best way to predict upward
mobility. Cowen.
We (humans) are makers of meaning. We do so
consciously and subconsciously. Words have
multiple meanings. Paying attention to
meanings of a word allows us to think
consciously and be accurate and precise. The
word data takes on different meanings when
coupled with other words. In some cases, the
coupling of two words conjures up a fairly
accurate meaning, and in other cases it can be
very confusing.
US FDA Warning Letters reﬂect what FDA
Cares about. Data governance and data
integrity are a prominent feature in drug GMP
warning letters over the past three years. FDA
inspections also focused on contracted
services including contract manufacture and
contract laboratories. This article informs
practinoneer to know their ledge and take
actions to prevent going over the ledge. Such
actions are only taken by those who care.

asked frequently in different ways. Today I was
asked this question as follows "Sir I am
fresher....i got 2nd division in my M.Sc and B.Sc
in ORGANIC CHEMISTRY...Can i get a job in QC
of Pharmaceutical....I really need a job...but I
have no reference in pharma industry". Why
should I answer, how should I answer and what
should be my answer? Return to this page next

My answer- better to start in a lab or
production to develop abilities to integrate
