This slide share documents the idea of the degustation market for grandparents and their grandchildren. It is a part of the Global Design Studio Project.
3. WORKING OF THE SERVICE:
• The initiative “Grandparent’s Food Degustation Market” is run by a collective (e.g.- BIG CHANGES) to use
the framework of a market as an interactive base to degust and pass on grandparent’s traditional recipes.
• The focus of this organization is to create a nurturing environment to facilitate the exchange of cooking
recipes from one generation to the other. So that delicious and healthy family recipes don’t get lost in the
course of time.
WHAT THE COLLECTIVE DOES?
• The collective takes responsibility of the organization and coordination of the stalls in collaboration with
local markets in Loughborough, and arranges mobile cooking facilities and the spaces once the families
register.
• To prepare for the event and spread the word, they would also look into advertisement (posters on public
spaces, newspaper, social media advertisement, etc.). The setting up and cleaning of stalls is looked after
by the market community or collective.
• This initiative could also be proposed to the city council for a subsidy or help in organization.
WHEN WOULD IT BE ORGANISED?
• The market would be organized once a month, say the first Sunday of every month.
ACCESS
• The family will sign up on the collective’s webpage. Each family will be provided one stall where the family
can cook their dish; recipes could be distributed in the form of a small brochure to take away by the
collective. The funding for the materials like ingredients will work through a small participation fee and
donations.
6. After the event the families can exchange recipes or the collective could document one recipe per
month.
