• Help Pakistan meet international obligations on controlling illegal wildlife
trade and promote wildlife conservation.
4. Federal management of wildlife
Federal government passed following Acts for wildlife management:
• The Migratory Bird hunting Stamp Act (1934)
• The Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act (1937)
• The Federal Aid in Fish Restoration Act (1950)
• The Land and Water Conservation Act (1964)
• Endangered Species Preservation Act (1966)
• Federal Land Policy Management Act (1976)
• The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act (1980)
5. The Migratory Bird hunting Stamp
Act (1934)
• This land make possible for government to purchase wildlife
refuge land but it lacked the necessary funding.
• Provide the money by requiring that people above 16 years
of age must purchase a Migratory Birds Hunting Stamp to
hunt waterfowl.
• In 1974 the name of stamp became Migratory Bird Hunting
and Conservation Stamp.
6. The Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration
Act (1937)
• Commonly known as Pittman Robertson Act.
• This act provided states with up to 75 % of total costs of
wildlife restoration projects that meet federal standards
and still serves as foundation for all wildlife conservation
efforts.
• Provide money to finance hunter education.
7. The Federal Aid in Fish Restoration Act
(1950)
• Also known as Dingell-Johson Act
• This act allows tax on certain fishing equipment.
• Sport and recreation fidh species benefited the most
from this Act.
• Some funds involve non-fish and endangered
species.
8. The Land and Water Conservation Act
(1964)
• Provide outdoor recreation resources to all citizens.
• The mission of this Act is preservation and
development of resources.
• Received up to 50 % of funding.
9. • Endangered Species Preservation Act (1966)
Provide protection against extinction for all plants and animals.
• Federal Land Policy Management Act (1976)
Take all the resources into account in planning process e.g. revenue of
grazing livestock on public to improve the land.
10. The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act
(1980)
• Also known as Non game Act.
• It is called so because it only targets non sport
fishes.
• The short term funding made it possible for states
to carry the expense of state program.
11. Wildlife commerce legislation
Wildlife commerce is profiting from the sale or trade of
wild species.
• The Lacey Act (1900)
• The Black Bass Act (1926)
These acts prevent importing wildlife, if it could harm
people, production agriculture, or the natural environment.
