SalvadorDali
SalvadorDali bornin the early1900’s was a Spanishpainter experimentedwithcubismandfuturism
whichpreparedhimmovingontothe fieldof surrealism.He excelledinbizarre andunworldly
artworkinspiredbyeverydaysurroundingswhichcame upwithnew creationswiththe use of
intertwiningdifferentobjectsorfigurestogethersuchasthisimage of a tree and humanface.His
paintingtechniquescame fromthe Renaissance mastersanditcontributedtothe detailsof his
imaginative artwork.
He wenttostudyin a Madrid Academywhere he contributedwithotherartistslike Magritte who
was anothersurrealistartistfromBelgium.

2. René Magritte
Magritte prosperedinwittyimageswhichconsistedunusualmeaningorillusionsthatchallenge
people’sinsightonreality.Hisworklaterbecame the influence of new artmovementssuchaspop,
minimalistandconceptual art.

3. JohnGreenwood
Greenwoodwasa Britishsurrealistartistborninthe middle of the 1900’s whocreateda new world
inhis artworkthat gave the viewersan almostclaustrophobicfeel due toimprisoninghisstrange
objectsina box.His paintingswere presentedtomake viewerslookatthe objectsinthe painting
and feel asif it’sthe onlythinginthe frame.The feelingof the “boxed”were almostasif Greenwood
wantedthe viewerstonotsetan imaginationbeyondthe objectsbutconcentrate onthe focal point
of the painting(the objects). The objectsinhispaintingsare presentationsof hispure imagination.

4. André Masson
Masson wasa Frenchartist born in1896 experimentedwithfew stylessuchascubismbefore he
stuck withsurrealismwhichwashisbreakoutinhisart career.He wasexcellentinautomatic
drawingwhichexpressedthe imaginationfromthe subconsciousmind.

objectsandotherthoughts.
