1.1 Abstract
The final architecture design project is based on theme of incorporate Malaysian or regional qualities consideration in design. Introducing a new concept of collaborative working architecture to the
community. A well design building will take in consider of three entities which is people, place and time. The collaborative working building will help the community to understand the qualities of the
site and a concentration of the community into the building. The building design will relate to its immediate environment which is the diversity of the community that inhabits in Malaysia. The
building concept of sustainability and adaptability can be seen of the details of architectural while constructing with suitable technologies.
The key elements in designing a site specific building is to understand the site context and the target community . By analyzing the target community, Programmes can be design based on the
community needs. Site investigation will be carried out in both macro and micro scale to determine the positive and negative impacts on this proposed building to the community. Primary design
intention will drawn out its target community silmultaneously by the designated programmes to address the needs of community.
The final design report documents the overall process of the proposed building from the preliminary analysis to design proposal, providing the insight of personal perception of the site as well as the
personal interpretation, which is in the later stages will develop the design brief to suit the site context and target community
1.0 Introduction
SITE
1.2 Project Introduction
The final architectural design project requires us to further develop the building design proposal
based on the site analysis. The project is supervised by tutor to contemplate the theme of
incorporate Malaysian or regional qualities consideration in design. Various programmes are
design to address the need of community and to design spaces that improved interaction with the
surrounding contextual conditions.
The project initiative is to develop an collaborative working community that focusing on
introducing and promoting Malaysia new working environment. The site was located among the
tall business building which will create a isolation of each building. By proposing a collaborative
working community, it creates a refreshing view and different design with the other buildings. It
can attract community to explore and understand the concept of collaborative working
community.
1.3 Project Aims & Objectives
The project intention and goal is to proposed a design scheme aims to provide a platform for
freelance community and provide a connection platform for different career while introducing a
different working environment which will make the proposed building stand out from the other
buildings. Community experience and interactions are enhanced through spatial connectivity
between public and private realms as well as architectural elements that applied throughout the
building design.
Below are the objectives and aims of the project with the consideration of programmes and spaces
are design to achieve.
1. Encourage innovation to community in an open and non judgemental environment.
2. Educate the public regarding concept and benefit of collaborative working community .
3. Integrate greeneries into building design to encourage social engagement among
community and to beautify and enhance the liveability of Jalan Sultan Ismail.
4. Provide platform where different career community can work together, learn and built
connection in business..
5. Provide platform for local artists to showcase and perform their work.
2.0 Site Investigation And Contextual Studies
2.1 Site Introduction
The assigned site located at Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, It is located at the center
of clusters of different types of buildings.
In recent times, modern buildings have become more prominent with its intimidating scale
and unique architectural features that exists alongside traditional shophouses.
The site is currently a parking area It has a total area of 1575.8 sqm with maximum built up
area 12606.4 sqm. The site is located right next to the train station bridge, where it can
become a potential community entrance to the building.

2.2 Historical Background Of Site
1980s
2000s
2018s ( Present )
Past To Present Of Chow Kit
During the 90s, Chow Kit has already
been known for being a dense city. A
few free-standing buildings have
begun to emerge to cater for the
growing city.
Modern development rates have
rapidly increased as commercial
becomes a focus on site.
The domination of new
development and modernisation
leaning towards corporate purposes,
resulting in the lack of community
life.
2.3 Site Significance Issues
Large city
blocks, acts as
fortresses.
Blocking
themselves from
public realm,
isolating street
pedestrians.
Emphasis on
buildings
individuality,
economy and
politics.
Inhospitable for
interaction
1. Repetitive Building Type 2. Social Segregation
The site community can be categorized by 2 category which is white collars and blur collars.
Due to their different schedule and life style, they barely interact with each other, which
causes social segregation on site.
Life in the fast lane ( White Collar )
“Economizing on time becomes more urgent and life becomes more hurried and harried,"
(Walmsley et.al, n.d.)
Laid-back living
Slower pace of living, lesser competition in economy and politics
Most of the buildings on site has the similar function and form which causes over abundance of office
lots which leads to many vacant lots on site. The site building design is very enclosed due to the
privacy of offices which create a visual barrier for community not be able to explore the building.
2.4 Urban Studies
Accessibility to City Network through
urban roads and railways.
Urban network are well connected to the
city fabric.
Accessibility to city networks through

The largest district surrounding
Jalan Sultan Ismail is mainly
commercial area accommodates
the local (eg. Shophouses)
However, these residential areas are
surrounded by disconnected
framework of streets.
4. Edges

District dividing the road
forming an edge
The located site is bounded mainly by the
hard edges of the urban typology. The
formation of soft edges have also created
a sense of pedestrian barrier. In term of
pedestrian walkability, very few
connection such as pedestrian walkway
puncture through the main edges,
which are highways and main streets.
Although countless elements are
present, the edges form a segregation
between segments.
2.5 Macro Analysis

White Collar
SITE
As seen in the diagram, the potential users of the site mainly consists
of white collar due to the building surrounded is corporate office.
The site act as transition area for people to go to Bukit Bintang Or
Chow Kit because of the train station nearby.
Poor pedestrian walkability towards the parking area when arriving
via public transport due to pedestrian barrier has isolated and
disconnected the street network. Due to a strong hard edge which is
a major highway between Parking ( Site ) and Menara Th Perdana,
the amount of blue collar using the site is significantly lesser than
the amount of white collar present in the parking.

facilities for granted.
3.2 Precedent Studies – The Commons
theCOMMONS is a small retail development located in the city centre. It is an attempt to create a new active outdoor space where people can comfortably utilise it at anytime of the year.
TheCommons apply the concept of
TRANSPARENCY allows physical and
visual interaction, allows optional and social
activities to take place. The concept of
transparency can be adapt into proposed
building design to provide a more open view
and welcoming atmosphere for the
community, which can resolve the issue of
lack of visual permeability on site.
The commons incorporate a flexible layout within spaces to create free moving spaces
which encourage user to explore and define on how to utilized the space.
INTERNAL FLEXIBILITY
The internal working spaces act as a platform for different career user to utilized and
the spaces get personalization based on the user.
EXTERNAL FLEXIBILITY

perform their work and build connection within the buildings. It also provides a rejuvenation place
for user to recover from tense and stressful life style and more open spaces is designed to integrate
with greeneries and encourage outdoor activities. The building vibrant with bustling activities on
site with high potential that it will be able to attract a substantial crowd.
3.4 Project Brief
The idea of rejuvenation suggest that in a busy city such as Kuala Lumpur, people often
intense, stress to their jobs, by proposing the idea of rejuvenation helping them to
recovered the motivation of working by providing a better environment. The building not
only act as a workspace but also a place for people to seek for entertainment, comfort.
Due to the similarity of landuse on site, which is used as corpora office, entertainment
activities and night activities is lacking. Large and tall building blocks giving a unfriendly
atmosphere to the community. Lack od exposure to activities in building will reduced the
community interest.
The collaborative workspace form a visual relief for the community by using a sense of
openness and integrate greeneries. The main entrance is offset from the site boundary to
create a public realm and act as a gathering spot for community. By exposing the west side
of the building give community a beautiful garden view in the building and create
curiousity for community to explore.

3.7 Morphological Studies
4.1 Site Planning
4.0 Environmental And Technological Strategies
Wind Analysis
Sun Analysis
The wind speed diagram
shows that a larger amount of
wind comes from the Northest
heading to the South. The
loose floor plan allows wind
to pass throughout the
building, removing the
building interiors tropical heat
by allowing natural passive
ventilation. The void in the
middle of building creates a
wind tunnel effect, cooling
down the building vicinity.
The wind rose for Kuala
Lumpur shows how many
house per year the wind blows
from indicated direction. The
site is greatly affected by the
Northern Monsoon that occurs
from October to March and
the Southwestern Monsoon
from April to September.
As a building located in a hot tropical climate, the building will received plenty of natural lighting from sunlight year round. Thus,
strategies to shade the building has to be implemented especially at the Eastern and Western Façade. The building must be
designed to minimize the heat received from sunlight from the east.
1pm – Building is moderately shaded.10am – Building received maximum sunlight exposure
from the east.
6pm – Building is well shaded.
4.2 Environmental Strategies
As seen from the east elevation, the building east elevation is almost entirely covered with
vegetation and brick façade, minimize the heat gain from strong morning and afternoon sun.
Evapotranspiration cools the air in Malaysia’s tropical heat. The species of plants selected on
this façade are those that grow better if receiving morning and afternoon sun.
VOID
A central courtyard gather prevailing wind from
the Northwest, allowing hot air to be removed
from the site’s interior areas. The design is
intended to make more than 60% of the facades
North-South orientated while minimizing the
amount of East-West facades to less than 30%
In response to the solar path, the building is
designed to decrease sunlight gain from the east.
The central courtyard is shaded from the strong
eastern sun. Certain areas embrace the morning
sun.
Water feature is design on the ground floor of
building, cooling down the building as the
evaporation process carries heat away into the
atmosphere.
Orientation And Sun
VOID
Vegetation
Ground Floor- Landscape
and courtyard
First Floor- hanging
greeneries.
Landscape placed around the building not
only soften the overall impression of the
building on site, but also act as a buffer
zone between the building and the main
road. The vegetation can filter out the gas
noise emission from the passing vehicular.
The green space is extended into the
building interior by placing it along the
walkway into the courtyard which will
provide shade and refreshing air to the user.
First floor is also designed with hanging
greens to provide shading for open space.
Wind
From the previous climatic studies, it is known
that the site is receiving most of the wind from
north and northwest. Therefore the design of
building is arranged in a open plan manner to
increase the permeability of spaces to make
sure most of the spaces is well ventilated. The
roof above the central area is elevated to help
escalating the hot air out of the building through
stack effect.
4.3 Sustainability Concept
Energy Conservation Feature : Solar Panels
Solar Panels
Solar PV (photovoltaic ) refers to an array of cells containing aa solar
photovoltaic materials that convert solar radiation into direct current
electricity. The building roof is covered with solar panels to maximize
conversion of solar energy into electrical energy for the building’s lighting
and ventilation purposes. It serves the dual purpose of allowing the building
to pursue a renewable energy agenda, while simultaneously making optimum
uses of its abundant solar energy available in the tropical city.
The system is connected to an electricity grid so that electricity generated is
exported back to the grid. The utility company TNB then pays the university
a fixed premium rate per kilowatt hour of electricity.
4.4 Material And Resources
The walls in the building is built with concrete and brick, contradicting with
the timber wall and glass window. There are open spaces at every floor
which will required less material and cost used. It can also speed up the
construction time The building component is prefab in the factory and bring
on site to assemble it.
White Plaster Timber Flooring Glass Concrete
Material Layering For Green Roof
4.5 Acoustical Consideration
The building is largely open, which allow sound waves to traverse from
various places to another, emitting a lively and happening vibe. Spaces that
required seclusion such as music studio and jam studio are arranged further
away from the common area.
The volumes are completely sealed off in Music studio and jam studio to
prevent interference of foreign noises. This is achieved by enveloping the
rooms with diffuser panels, The diffuser consist of two elements which
comprise of absorber and reflector layers that made up its sound diffusion
effect. The uneven spacing of dented surface diffuse the sound wave to
different direction, reducing sound intensity and preventing undesirable
echoes.
4.6 Innovation – Green Wall
Modular green walls are essentially a living cladding
system with its rich biodiversity. Visitors are greeted by a
green lush vertically while savouring the effects of the
abundance of foliage. Evapotranspiration cools the air in
the building. Via evapotranspiration, the demands for active
mechanical ventilation is decreased.
Green walls are also natural air filters, creating a cleaner,
more invigorating work environment that will lead to better
work environment that will lead to better overall production
Air toxins found in built environment will experience a
decrease with the implementation of these walls as they
metabolize harmful toxins while releasing oxygen into the
building.
Living green wall are the most efficient way to enhance a
building’s visuals, improve air quality as well as human
energy level.
4.8 Structural Concept
The construction method used for the proposed building is reinforced concrete structure ( RC ) structure, which is commonly and widely use in local context. RC pad footing with piling is
used as foundation system and connects to a system of RC beams and columns. Reaching the roof level, various type of roof are used to cater different function of the space and different
levelling of roof is also apply to create a layer view of building. Slanted roof with metal decking supported by mild steel roof truss are act as main roofing method for the building. While the
walkway, spa area and bridge linkage is using tinted glass roofing. Timber louver façade is used as shading device to avoid too much exposure of sunlight and enhance the building aesthetic
view. Floor finishes are locally sourced tiles using timber finishes, The interior wall are finished with white plaster cover. Acoustic treatment are used in music studio and jam studio for better
experience.

6.0 Conclusion
In conclusion, before starting a building design proposal site surrounding need to be analysed and sort out the SWOT analysis to be able to tackle on the issues,
weaknesses and threat. In Jalan Sultan Ismail, it can be conclude into 2 major issue on site which is social segregation and the repetition of building type. Opportunity
to explore other building typologies or style in Architecture. This aspect can be capitalised to benefit the community and user of the building. For community:
exposure to a refreshing architectural approach. A different take to the old and uniform architectural typology is has been local to the surrounding site for a long
period of time.
The building, given the opportunity can become a landmark and social space or a space that can promote intermediate social interactions and this may bridge the gap
between the segregated communities surrounding the site. For user: Similar to that for the community, but especially with the purpose of the building being a
collaborative work space, a design that is different to the surrounding building typologies can promote conducive working environment. As the building may attract
both locals and visitors alike, this can present opportunities for social interactions between the user and community.
Lastly, the building does not only provide a platform for a collaborative working but as well a platform to address the issue of the lack of variety in building typology
in the surrounding site and as well a platform to bridge the social segregation. For a building to function in its entirety, it isn't just the interiors that matter but the
spaces exterior to the building that helps to better integrate the building into the surrounding context. Hence by addressing the aforementioned issues, the building
does not just cater for the building users but the community as well.

  • 3. 1.1 Abstract The final architecture design project is based on theme of incorporate Malaysian or regional qualities consideration in design. Introducing a new concept of collaborative working architecture to the community. A well design building will take in consider of three entities which is people, place and time. The collaborative working building will help the community to understand the qualities of the site and a concentration of the community into the building. The building design will relate to its immediate environment which is the diversity of the community that inhabits in Malaysia. The building concept of sustainability and adaptability can be seen of the details of architectural while constructing with suitable technologies. The key elements in designing a site specific building is to understand the site context and the target community . By analyzing the target community, Programmes can be design based on the community needs. Site investigation will be carried out in both macro and micro scale to determine the positive and negative impacts on this proposed building to the community. Primary design intention will drawn out its target community silmultaneously by the designated programmes to address the needs of community. The final design report documents the overall process of the proposed building from the preliminary analysis to design proposal, providing the insight of personal perception of the site as well as the personal interpretation, which is in the later stages will develop the design brief to suit the site context and target community 1.0 Introduction SITE
  • 4. 1.2 Project Introduction The final architectural design project requires us to further develop the building design proposal based on the site analysis. The project is supervised by tutor to contemplate the theme of incorporate Malaysian or regional qualities consideration in design. Various programmes are design to address the need of community and to design spaces that improved interaction with the surrounding contextual conditions. The project initiative is to develop an collaborative working community that focusing on introducing and promoting Malaysia new working environment. The site was located among the tall business building which will create a isolation of each building. By proposing a collaborative working community, it creates a refreshing view and different design with the other buildings. It can attract community to explore and understand the concept of collaborative working community. 1.3 Project Aims & Objectives The project intention and goal is to proposed a design scheme aims to provide a platform for freelance community and provide a connection platform for different career while introducing a different working environment which will make the proposed building stand out from the other buildings. Community experience and interactions are enhanced through spatial connectivity between public and private realms as well as architectural elements that applied throughout the building design. Below are the objectives and aims of the project with the consideration of programmes and spaces are design to achieve. 1. Encourage innovation to community in an open and non judgemental environment. 2. Educate the public regarding concept and benefit of collaborative working community . 3. Integrate greeneries into building design to encourage social engagement among community and to beautify and enhance the liveability of Jalan Sultan Ismail. 4. Provide platform where different career community can work together, learn and built connection in business.. 5. Provide platform for local artists to showcase and perform their work.
  • 5. 2.0 Site Investigation And Contextual Studies 2.1 Site Introduction The assigned site located at Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, It is located at the center of clusters of different types of buildings. In recent times, modern buildings have become more prominent with its intimidating scale and unique architectural features that exists alongside traditional shophouses. The site is currently a parking area It has a total area of 1575.8 sqm with maximum built up area 12606.4 sqm. The site is located right next to the train station bridge, where it can become a potential community entrance to the building. . Chow Kit Precinct Kampung Bharu Precinct River of Life Precinct N SITE 2.2 Historical Background Of Site 1980s 2000s 2018s ( Present ) Past To Present Of Chow Kit During the 90s, Chow Kit has already been known for being a dense city. A few free-standing buildings have begun to emerge to cater for the growing city. Modern development rates have rapidly increased as commercial becomes a focus on site. The domination of new development and modernisation leaning towards corporate purposes, resulting in the lack of community life.
  • 6. 2.3 Site Significance Issues Large city blocks, acts as fortresses. Blocking themselves from public realm, isolating street pedestrians. Emphasis on buildings individuality, economy and politics. Inhospitable for interaction 1. Repetitive Building Type 2. Social Segregation The site community can be categorized by 2 category which is white collars and blur collars. Due to their different schedule and life style, they barely interact with each other, which causes social segregation on site. Life in the fast lane ( White Collar ) “Economizing on time becomes more urgent and life becomes more hurried and harried," (Walmsley et.al, n.d.) Laid-back living Slower pace of living, lesser competition in economy and politics Most of the buildings on site has the similar function and form which causes over abundance of office lots which leads to many vacant lots on site. The site building design is very enclosed due to the privacy of offices which create a visual barrier for community not be able to explore the building.
  • 7. 2.4 Urban Studies Accessibility to City Network through urban roads and railways. Urban network are well connected to the city fabric. Accessibility to city networks through available transport modes (MRT,LRT,bus) Corridors (pedestrian walkways) allow for connection to the surrounding programmes 1. Movement patterns & Accessibility Main Path Inner Path Site N 2. Nodes Vehicular Node Activity Node Pedestrians Passerby People Involved In Activity Human activity can be seen to the north and south of Chow Kit thus very low optional activities on site causing less social interactions 3. District Educational Commercial Corporate The largest district surrounding Jalan Sultan Ismail is mainly commercial area accommodates the local (eg. Shophouses) However, these residential areas are surrounded by disconnected framework of streets. 4. Edges Fencing on private property Visual barrier created by overhead pedestrian bridge District dividing the road forming an edge The located site is bounded mainly by the hard edges of the urban typology. The formation of soft edges have also created a sense of pedestrian barrier. In term of pedestrian walkability, very few connection such as pedestrian walkway puncture through the main edges, which are highways and main streets. Although countless elements are present, the edges form a segregation between segments.
  • 8. 2.5 Macro Analysis Commercial Educational Corporate Blue Collar Student Visitor White Collar SITE As seen in the diagram, the potential users of the site mainly consists of white collar due to the building surrounded is corporate office. The site act as transition area for people to go to Bukit Bintang Or Chow Kit because of the train station nearby. Poor pedestrian walkability towards the parking area when arriving via public transport due to pedestrian barrier has isolated and disconnected the street network. Due to a strong hard edge which is a major highway between Parking ( Site ) and Menara Th Perdana, the amount of blue collar using the site is significantly lesser than the amount of white collar present in the parking. . User Groups Morning 10am Work + Schooling Hours Chow Kit, Jalan Sultan Ismail; as of September 2018 Time Based Relationship In the Social Setting Of Chow Kit Lunch hour Chow Kit, Jalan Sultan Ismail; as of September 2018 Afternoon 12pm Night 8pm After office hours Chow Kit, Jalan Sultan Ismail; as of September 2018
  • 9. 3.1 Micro Site Analysis 3.0 Project Background And Design Intention Strategies S I T E CLUSTERED OFFICES •VEHICULAR PATH AND WALKWAYS = NETWORKING The work connections between a site and its surroundings are important as it offers networking for the site due to CONVENIENCE. Strength 1. Surrounding site context acts as transitional space. 2. Adequate shading from surrounding building 3. Existing public transport within walking distant. Weaknesses 1. Inadequate vegetation and greeneries on site. 2. Noises of vehicular from the roads. 3. Surrounded by many high rise buildings making the site not highly visible to community. Opportunity 1. Located within a close proximity to train station, transporting thousands of commuters everyday. 2. Situated at the highway road, easy access by vehiculars. Threat 1. The access to the building may affect the traffic flow of Jalan Sultan Ismail which is the main roads in Kl.. 2. Noises of vehicular may affect the quality of performance. 3. Visitor might take the provided facilities for granted.
  • 10. 3.2 Precedent Studies – The Commons theCOMMONS is a small retail development located in the city centre. It is an attempt to create a new active outdoor space where people can comfortably utilise it at anytime of the year. TheCommons apply the concept of TRANSPARENCY allows physical and visual interaction, allows optional and social activities to take place. The concept of transparency can be adapt into proposed building design to provide a more open view and welcoming atmosphere for the community, which can resolve the issue of lack of visual permeability on site.
  • 11. The commons incorporate a flexible layout within spaces to create free moving spaces which encourage user to explore and define on how to utilized the space. INTERNAL FLEXIBILITY The internal working spaces act as a platform for different career user to utilized and the spaces get personalization based on the user. EXTERNAL FLEXIBILITY Outdoor spaces with a few furniture and seating located allow for variety of outdoor activities held and can be use as event spaces. Design allow robustness. OPEN FLOOR PLAN For internal flexibility to provide a variety of spatial use and allow multi entrance and flexibility in human movement..

  • 16. 4.1 Site Planning 4.0 Environmental And Technological Strategies Wind Analysis Sun Analysis The wind speed diagram shows that a larger amount of wind comes from the Northest heading to the South. The loose floor plan allows wind to pass throughout the building, removing the building interiors tropical heat by allowing natural passive ventilation. The void in the middle of building creates a wind tunnel effect, cooling down the building vicinity. The wind rose for Kuala Lumpur shows how many house per year the wind blows from indicated direction. The site is greatly affected by the Northern Monsoon that occurs from October to March and the Southwestern Monsoon from April to September. As a building located in a hot tropical climate, the building will received plenty of natural lighting from sunlight year round. Thus, strategies to shade the building has to be implemented especially at the Eastern and Western Façade. The building must be designed to minimize the heat received from sunlight from the east. 1pm – Building is moderately shaded.10am – Building received maximum sunlight exposure from the east. 6pm – Building is well shaded.
  • 17. 4.2 Environmental Strategies As seen from the east elevation, the building east elevation is almost entirely covered with vegetation and brick façade, minimize the heat gain from strong morning and afternoon sun. Evapotranspiration cools the air in Malaysia’s tropical heat. The species of plants selected on this façade are those that grow better if receiving morning and afternoon sun. VOID A central courtyard gather prevailing wind from the Northwest, allowing hot air to be removed from the site’s interior areas. The design is intended to make more than 60% of the facades North-South orientated while minimizing the amount of East-West facades to less than 30% In response to the solar path, the building is designed to decrease sunlight gain from the east. The central courtyard is shaded from the strong eastern sun. Certain areas embrace the morning sun. Water feature is design on the ground floor of building, cooling down the building as the evaporation process carries heat away into the atmosphere. Orientation And Sun VOID Vegetation Ground Floor- Landscape and courtyard First Floor- hanging greeneries. Landscape placed around the building not only soften the overall impression of the building on site, but also act as a buffer zone between the building and the main road. The vegetation can filter out the gas noise emission from the passing vehicular. The green space is extended into the building interior by placing it along the walkway into the courtyard which will provide shade and refreshing air to the user. First floor is also designed with hanging greens to provide shading for open space. Wind From the previous climatic studies, it is known that the site is receiving most of the wind from north and northwest. Therefore the design of building is arranged in a open plan manner to increase the permeability of spaces to make sure most of the spaces is well ventilated. The roof above the central area is elevated to help escalating the hot air out of the building through stack effect.
  • 18. 4.3 Sustainability Concept Energy Conservation Feature : Solar Panels Solar Panels Solar PV (photovoltaic ) refers to an array of cells containing aa solar photovoltaic materials that convert solar radiation into direct current electricity. The building roof is covered with solar panels to maximize conversion of solar energy into electrical energy for the building’s lighting and ventilation purposes. It serves the dual purpose of allowing the building to pursue a renewable energy agenda, while simultaneously making optimum uses of its abundant solar energy available in the tropical city. The system is connected to an electricity grid so that electricity generated is exported back to the grid. The utility company TNB then pays the university a fixed premium rate per kilowatt hour of electricity. 4.4 Material And Resources The walls in the building is built with concrete and brick, contradicting with the timber wall and glass window. There are open spaces at every floor which will required less material and cost used. It can also speed up the construction time The building component is prefab in the factory and bring on site to assemble it. • 19. 4.5 Acoustical Consideration The building is largely open, which allow sound waves to traverse from various places to another, emitting a lively and happening vibe. Spaces that required seclusion such as music studio and jam studio are arranged further away from the common area. The volumes are completely sealed off in Music studio and jam studio to prevent interference of foreign noises. This is achieved by enveloping the rooms with diffuser panels, The diffuser consist of two elements which comprise of absorber and reflector layers that made up its sound diffusion effect. The uneven spacing of dented surface diffuse the sound wave to different direction, reducing sound intensity and preventing undesirable echoes. 4.6 Innovation – Green Wall Modular green walls are essentially a living cladding system with its rich biodiversity. Visitors are greeted by a green lush vertically while savouring the effects of the abundance of foliage. Evapotranspiration cools the air in the building. Via evapotranspiration, the demands for active mechanical ventilation is decreased. Green walls are also natural air filters, creating a cleaner, more invigorating work environment that will lead to better work environment that will lead to better overall production Air toxins found in built environment will experience a decrease with the implementation of these walls as they metabolize harmful toxins while releasing oxygen into the building. Living green wall are the most efficient way to enhance a building’s visuals, improve air quality as well as human energy level.
  • 20. 4.8 Structural Concept The construction method used for the proposed building is reinforced concrete structure ( RC ) structure, which is commonly and widely use in local context. RC pad footing with piling is used as foundation system and connects to a system of RC beams and columns. Reaching the roof level, various type of roof are used to cater different function of the space and different levelling of roof is also apply to create a layer view of building. Slanted roof with metal decking supported by mild steel roof truss are act as main roofing method for the building. While the walkway, spa area and bridge linkage is using tinted glass roofing. Timber louver façade is used as shading device to avoid too much exposure of sunlight and enhance the building aesthetic view. Floor finishes are locally sourced tiles using timber finishes, The interior wall are finished with white plaster cover. Acoustic treatment are used in music studio and jam studio for better experience.

  • 22. 6.0 Conclusion In conclusion, before starting a building design proposal site surrounding need to be analysed and sort out the SWOT analysis to be able to tackle on the issues, weaknesses and threat. In Jalan Sultan Ismail, it can be conclude into 2 major issue on site which is social segregation and the repetition of building type. Opportunity to explore other building typologies or style in Architecture. This aspect can be capitalised to benefit the community and user of the building. For community: exposure to a refreshing architectural approach. A different take to the old and uniform architectural typology is has been local to the surrounding site for a long period of time. The building, given the opportunity can become a landmark and social space or a space that can promote intermediate social interactions and this may bridge the gap between the segregated communities surrounding the site. For user: Similar to that for the community, but especially with the purpose of the building being a collaborative work space, a design that is different to the surrounding building typologies can promote conducive working environment. As the building may attract both locals and visitors alike, this can present opportunities for social interactions between the user and community. Lastly, the building does not only provide a platform for a collaborative working but as well a platform to address the issue of the lack of variety in building typology in the surrounding site and as well a platform to bridge the social segregation. For a building to function in its entirety, it isn't just the interiors that matter but the spaces exterior to the building that helps to better integrate the building into the surrounding context. Hence by addressing the aforementioned issues, the building does not just cater for the building users but the community as well.
