Effects Of Socialization
1. Effects Of Socialization
Socialization is defined as the "process by which individuals acquire thoughts, feelings, and behaviors "appropriate" to their positions in society,"
(Rohall 149). Individuals experience socialization beginning the day they are born, and throughout most of their lives. It can occur through everyday
observation and interaction at every stage of development, or it can occur more formally though education and mentors. Socialization is important to
how individuals interact in society and it also plays a part in most aspects of social psychology. An important aspect of socialization is our agents of
socialization. Agents of socialization are the groups in the individuals' lives that are most influential in teaching the thoughts, feelings, and...show more

In a study titled "Racial Socialization and Racial Identity: African American Parents' Messages about Race as Precursors to Identity," Enrique Neblett
looked at the patterns of racial socialization in a sample of 358 African American adolescents and identified 3 patterns of socialization experiences,
High Positive, Moderate Positive, and Low Frequency (Neblett 189). The study found that a large portion of children reported that their parents
highly emphasized on racial pride as well as taught them about racial barriers. The remaining children provided information that not all parents
convey messages about race to their children. This shows that some individuals agents of socialization play a large role in their understanding of their
race. In the study, they also state that African Americans awareness of race makes it possible for them to grapple with the significance of being
African American (Neblett 189). The children that were categorized as having High Positive or Moderate Positive experiences with socialization are
going to be more apt to understand their socialized position in society. This is important because "a strong ethnic identity is associated with greater
psychological well–being," (Rohall 153). Therefore, children, especially children from minority groups, who are socialized to have a strong identity
and can understand the significance of being a specific race, are more

2. My Experience At The Library
Bruno Ouattara November 2013 880 390 199 Sociology 100 In November 19th, 2013, it was raining when I came to school. Just after my English
class, I was heading to the library to find a quiet place where I could study. I saw a group of Asian's students coming out from the library, and one
of them, a girl, was holding an umbrella. So I walked straight to her and I soon as I got very close to her, without introducing myself, I grabbed her
umbrella. Surprised she didn't know what to expect. She just dropped the umbrella in my hands, and I walked inside the library with the umbrella on
top of my head. She stood under the rain, very surprised and was looking back...show more content...
There were also some students standing just against the wall and smoking cigarettes. Just in the entrance of building 25, I saw a security guy
passing by, and talking to students from table to table. I think he was trying to tell them to put their phones away and do not leave them at the
table because they can be stolen. While I was getting closer and closer the girl and her friends were trying to get together in one side and let me
pass, and they were kind of slowing down because I was running into them. But I think I didn't give too much choice to her; she released the
umbrella because she was surprised or afraid; so she didn't resist. But after she released it, she felt weird to let me take the umbrella; I can tell in
her surprising's face. Her friends walked back and all of the sudden they started to talk in Chinese or Japanese (I don't actually know the
difference) like 30 seconds after I took the umbrella and started to walk back in the library after me. The smokers were watching the scene and one
of them was laughing. They started to kind of want to follow me inside and I didn't just walked away, instead I stopped just inside to look one more
time and see if someone was going to talk. The lady at the front desk was looking quiet and some others students inside also. When they come in front
of me, I realized they needed an answer. And that influenced me to give up. So I

4. Lyme Disease Essay
A disease caused by the bacterium which is belongs to the class of Spirochaetes which implies cockscrew–shaped. This bacterial infection is caused by
four species. Borrelia burgdorferi and Borrelia mayonii cause the disease in the United States, while in Europe and Asia it is Borrelia afzelii and
Borrelia garinii.
A person can acquire Lyme disease by the bite of an infected tick. This disease is transmitted by deer ticks or black–legged ticks. Ticks are tiny in size
and as their bite is painless, people might not even realize that they have been bitten. Once an infected tick attaches itself to the skin, it is able to
transmit the bacteria. This bacteria eventually ends up in the bloodstream. The duration of attachment necessary to transfer...show more content...
If the disease is diagnosed at an early stage, anti–infections treatment is given for a duration of 14–21 days. Adults and children above 8 are
recommended doxycycline, while cefuuroxime and amoxicillin are given to younger children and breast–feeding women. The infection can be totally
eliminated if a person is treated at the early stage. If Lyme disease is persistent in a patient, then they will be treated with intravenous antibiotics. When
the disease is treated at a later stage, the infection will be stopped, but the curing of the symptoms will happen at a slower rate. A patient left untreated
could face problems with the nervous system, muscle and joints and the digestive system.
Prevention of Lyme disease lies in avoiding contact with ticks and removing ticks that attach to the skin. Avoiding grassy and woody areas is one
way. Dressing defensively to cover up the skin available for the tick to attach is another way prevents the disease. Using repellants on exposed skin or
checking for ticks regularly are other methods.
A decade long research that ended in earlier months of this year has sequenced the genome of the tick that causes Lyme disease. This allows researchers
to understand how ticks acquire and transmit pathogens allowing them to design a strategy to control

5. Why I Chose Barry University
Barry University continues to be my number one choice to earn a higher education for two reasons. The first reason, I had such a wonderful
experience as an undergraduate student in the Professional Adult Continuing Education (PACE) program. The evening classes fit perfectly into my
work schedule, allowing me to continue working fulltime while earning my degree. In addition, the small class size and the extended class time
created an atmosphere for learning, critical thinking, and time for students to spend one on one with the professors. At Barry I met students of
various races and cultural backgrounds. The diversity of students generated interesting dialogues, which lead to healthy debates during class
discussions and group assignments. I learned to look at life from various perspectives, and gained a new understanding of people in general. My most
profound discovery was, once I understood the culture of the person, I developed a better understanding of the person's thoughts, views, and opinions.

community they want. Whether we choose to believe it or not, we are all products of our community in some way. When we leave to pursue ahigher

8. Liberal Arts Education Essay
A liberal arts education is one that, by definition, focuses not on one specific subject, but rather prepares its student by giving them knowledge in many
areas and developing the student's critical thinking that will allow them to adapt to an ever–changing world. Naturally, this means students at a
university that employs a liberal arts education take classes outside their major. Students of the humanities or social sciences must enroll in courses of
mathematics and natural sciences, and while many find no joy in such requirements, they better the individual and are helpful in everyday life, as well
as in larger issues. As Crane and Chiles so eloquently write, specifically of science, "Science matters at a liberal–arts university because the problems
facing our global community will not be solved by scientists alone." Mathematics as a subject acts in a similar way, giving skills to students,
non–mathematics majors included, to help in their everyday lives or potentially to help the world....show more content...
To do that, Chopp argues that "What you have to do is to learn the very tools of learning itself. The liberal arts are...the gold standard for that" (qtd. in
Goral). Students, particularly those in the humanities and social sciences, are thus offered different methods of learning when classes stretch beyond
their major. As is an essential part of a liberal arts education, this breadth of knowledge enhances the critical and intellectual thinking of students that
otherwise might not have had the opportunity to do so. The creativity and pursuit of knowledge encouraged by non–STEM majors has much to offer to
solve the problems of the world, and a basic understanding of mathematics and sciences means that these problems seem much more understandable,
their solutions more

multiple reasons, (like its in london, Ive had positive reviews from accatinces, to name a few) but to understand the main reason a short story is
necessary. Its called The Fearful Photographer, catchy name right?
This tale begins with a boy in his junior year of high school. He did not have a lot of friends nor did he stand out in anyway, until one day he signed up
for a photography class. He had seen some work from his father when his dad was his age so he thought why not? He was a natural learning a year

he already learned everything both classes offered, and he jumped at the opportunity. He began teaching his senior year in high school as the
teaching assistant in the photo 101 & 102 class. He was lucky enough to attend a high school with a black & white and color wet lab, which back in
the day was pretty swanky. The way the class was set up both the beginners and the advanced class occurred at the same time. The main problem with
this class is that it was oversized (which seems to be the normal in the states). Most of the class where beginners which left a small percentage of the
class with advanced students. With only one

13. Introduction
Large price fluctuations could be explained not only by the new information on future dividends as efficient market model says, but also by factors such
as the investor sentiment. Baker & Wurgler (2007) construct an investor sentiment index and quantify its impact on stock prices. Despite their
important contribution to the theory of behavioral finance, their conclusions are subject to debate.
The main objective of this article is to summarize, evaluate, and offer a critical view on the paper of Baker & Wurgler (2007). The first section
presents a review of article, the second discusses our main criticism on the econometric methodology, the third analyses predictive power of investor
sentiment, and finally the conclusions.
1.The main contribution: a new approach
Early literature explained market deviations from the principles of the efficient markets theory referring to concepts like volatility. Robert Shiller
(1981) stated that standard deviations of dividends against its long–term growth path, as a measure of surprises about future dividends, are not
sufficient to explain the volatility in stock prices.
The interaction of agents explains the market fluctuations. To support this Baker & Wurgler (2007) mention the work of DeLong, Shleifer, Summers,
& Waldmann (1990) noting that investors may be rational (not impacted by sentiment) and irrational (prone to sentiment). Assuming this, Baker &
Wurgler (2007) propose a "top–down" approach, that takes investor

16. Does God Exist? Essay
Proof Of The Exsistence of God Either God exists or He doesn't. There is no middle ground. Any attempt to remain neutral in relation to God's
existence is automatically synonymous with unbelief. The question for God's existence is really important. Does God exist? Theology, cosmological,
teleological and ontological arguments are all have ways to prove the existence of God. With all of these great arguments how can one deny that there
is a God. There is a God and with these reasons I will prove that.
There are two types of theology discussed in chapter nine of Kessler "Voices of
Wisdom," revealed and natural theology. Revealed theology comes from such sources as the Bible and according to St. Thomas Aquinas...show more

Cosmological arguments were started at the time the questions of the universe were first asked. The existence of motion to the existence of a first
mover as the cause of movement, was argued by Aristotle. This first mover he called God. The reason for this was that nothing caused God to move yet
God was responsible for the motion of all other things. Thisargument is based on presumptions in other cosmological arguments. The first was that
something could not cause itself, second something cannot come from nothing, last there could not possibly be an infinite amount of cause and effects.
St. Thomas' view was of God is an infinite, all–good, all–knowing, all powerful, perfect being who created the universe and now has sole command
over it. This view is known as theism. St. Thomas states that a first cause must be in order to have cause and effect now. For if we take away the
first cause there would be no effect following there for the universe would have never been created which is impossible because we can prove the
universe does exist. He also argues that there are things in the universe that have the possibility of existing and not existing, we have seen things that
have existed and than destroyed, thus proving that there is the ability of being and not being. There was a time when

working together will triumph anything that is done individually. Rather than sticking to their own beliefs, the characters are modeled by their
environment. They have no choice but to seek help to be able to survive in such a devastating time period.

devastating situations as well as Ma Joad can however. At the end of the novel, he becomes less scared and is committed to protecting his loved ones.
Pa Joad has given the role of the family leader to Ma Joad.
There are also minor characters in the book as well. Some are Jim Casy and Rose of Sharon. Jim Casy is an ex–preacher. Casy's teachings prompt the
novel's by changing the beliefs of the main character Tom. He turns Tom into an activist to better the life of people. Rose of Sharon represents a
stereotypical teenage girl. Her morals and purpose is tested when she meets a starving man inside of a barn. Her choice to breastfeed the man shows
how much the journey has changed her for the better.
The novel takes place during a time better known as the Dust Bowl. This was during the 1930s time period. The novel starts off in the state of
Oklahoma. That is where Tom is released after serving his time in prison. Their property has been taken from them. They were homeless and
desperately searching for a Job. They heard good news from their uncle. Soon they packed their things and headed off to California in search of work.
