Heart Donation Persuasive Essay Sample
Thank you for your wonderful summaries of each candidate. Finding the right candidate for the heart transplant was a rigorous process that took a
2 days to deliberate. Many factors were considered in choosing a patient. We saw that many candidates had issues at home and personal life that
affected the optimal use of this heart. We wanted someone who will live a long healthy life and have a stable home where they can fully recover.
We have come to a conclusion that the best candidate to receive the heart transplant is 16 year old Marilyn Wilson. She has straight A's in high
school, and currently wants to be a doctor. She is 16 years old and has many more years to live and make a difference in peoples future. She is

a. Life's lemonade is not always an experience worthy of savoring, but rather an enlightenment of what our motives are, and how we can take control
of our lives. i. Most things in life, aren't as they seem and as people we tend to lean towards what seems to be easier other than focusing on the
potential of becoming great by taking the long way. b. Thesis – When life leads a crooked path, it is our responsibility to take control and focus on (1)
what should be other than what is, (2) make smart decisions, and (3) differentiate between good and bad as well as finding the good in bad. II. Body
A. For example, almost everyone has gone through a struggle in their life whether it was life threatening or not and sometimes it just seemed as if there

With so many choices it is only relevant that before making decisions we map out our goals. "Your goal is clearly in sight. The moment you put
everything in its place, you have crossed the finishing line" (Kondo). ii. Maintaining order is very crucial in life because success is for the
organized. It is not for the physically organized only, but also for the mentally organized. The finishing line is closer than ever for most of us, but the
question that remains is how can we have a successful life and when that question is answered we can work towards our goals. Be mistaken not
because most life–long goals include sacrifices, up and downs, and time. C. In relation to taking control, people usually sulk because things aren't
going their way yet all they need to do is figure out how they can make things better in their lives. For instance, a student that gets a failing grade
should not bicker about why things turned out that way, but work towards fixing the grade for a better overall result. i. It is not about why, but how
we can become a better version of ourselves. "There is really nothing more to say except–why. But since why is difficult to handle, one must take

Topic: Organ Donation
Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to donate their organs and tissues when they die and to act upon their decision to donate.
Thesis Statement: The need is constantly growing for organ donors and it is very simple to be an organ donor when you die.
I. INTRODUCTION
A. Attention material/Credibility Material: How do you feel when you have to wait for something you really, really want? What if it was something
you couldn't live without? Well, my cousin was five years old when he found out he needed a new kidney. He went on the organ waiting list right
away. He was called twice during a six month span that they had a kidney available only to...show more content...
2) The reason is that there are only on the average 6,000 donors nationally per year (Life Source: Statistics).
c. You can choose to donate any needed organs or you can specify which organs or tissues you wish to donate.
2. Organ donation is very important.
a. The following poem by Robert Test entitled, "To Remember Me," shows the importance of organ donation.
"Give my sight to the man who has never seen a sunrise, a baby's face or love in the eyes of a woman. Give my heart to a person whose heart has
caused nothing but endless days of pain... Take my bones, every muscle, every fiber and nerve in my body and find a way to make a crippled child
walk...Take my cells, if necessary, and let them grow so that, someday, a speechless boy will shout at the crack of a bat and a deaf girl will hear the
sound of rain against her window
b. Not only is this a problem nationally but also it is a big problem right here at home in Colorado.
1) Nationally, there are over 120,000 people waiting as of November 1, 2011. As of November 7, 2011, there are 1,142 people from Colorado that are
on the organ waiting list (Life Source: Statistics).
2) The sad part is that there have only been 137 donors in Colorado so far from January 2011 through November 2011 (Life Source: Newsnotes).
[Transition: I'm sure that you can see the need for people like you to donate your organs. But you might be asking, well, how can I make sure my
organs are donated after I die? Let me tell you.]

Outline For Persuasive Speech On Minimum Wage
I. Introduction
A. Who here likes money? Who here would like to have some more? Even if you didn't raise your hand, you would probably be lying to say you
haven't wanted cash at one point or another.
B. And you wouldn't be alone in answering yes to the second question. You'd likely be with the millions of unemployed people, people below the
poverty line, and people who earn the measly $7.25 federal minimum wage that would like to earn more money. There are many in the latter group
who are trying to support families solely off of a minimum wage job.
C. Good morning, everyone. My name is Benjamin Mayberry, and I have been actively researching the federal minimum wage for several weeks now.
Today, I will be informing you all about the current minimum wage, why there is a growing movement to increase it, as well as the potential positive
and negative effects of doing so, and whether or not common arguments are credible.
Transition: To begin, allow me to provide some context as to why the call for an increased minimum wage is present.
II. Body
A. Since July 24, 2009, the federal minimum wage has been $7.25, but as of 2016 the living wage – the hourly rate a single person must earn to
support themselves or their family – is quite a bit higher.
a. The living wage for a single adult in Wisconsin is $10.58. There is obviously a significant disparity between this and the federal minimum wage. For
people working minimum wage jobs as their only source of income, they earn

Persuasive Speech On Eating Healthy
Do you know what it means to be healthy? What was the last thing YOU ate? Do you realize that these things are bad for you? I get it eating healthy
can be a problem for some people even though you may just be that person that chooses not to eat healthy it can still be a struggle. Everyone and their
family enjoy eating things such as (Cakes,Pies,Ice Cream,Cookies, etc.) so why would you choose to eat healthy foods over that? And in this essay I
will be explaining many different reasons as to why many people need to cut down on the junky foods and to start eating healthy.
Healthy eating starts off with yourself because if you continue to drive yourself into eating these unhealthy foods it can make a turn for the worse.

Obesity occurs over time when you eat more calories than you use. The balance between your genetic makeup, overeating, eating high–fat foods, and
not being physically active. Being obese increases your risk of diabetes, heart disease, stroke, arthritis, and some cancers. If you are obese, losing
even 5 to 10 percent of your weight can delay or prevent some of these diseases. For example, that means losing 10 to 20 pounds if you weigh 200
pounds. All of this can come from eating unhealthy foods.
Anyone who struggles with food and eating can fall into habits that may lead to what professionals call disordered eating. Disordered eating can take
many forms, ranging from unhealthy eating habits that keep you from losing weight. "Healthy functioning organs require adequate nutrition, and healthy
hair follicles are no exception. Starvation diets that lead to severe protein–energy malnutrition can cause brittle hair or worse, hair loss. Studies show
diets that are low in protein, essential fatty acids, and nutrients such as Vitamin C, zinc and iron are associated with hair loss, thinning, and loss of
pigmentation." (Quoted by Kristin Kilpatrick) "Foods that are high in simple carbohydrates cause blood sugar to spike, which is followed by a
blood sugar drop soon after. Often called a sugar crash, this is the reason a high carbohydrate, sugary breakfast or afternoon snack can leave you in an
energy slump a few hours later. To help stabilize blood sugar

Persuasive Essay On Success
Goals, something every human being on this planet has and to reach those goals you must be successful. We set goals to fulfill our purpose in life, but
to do that, you must be successful in meeting and completing those goals. "How Bad Do You Want It?" is a motivational speech that highlights the
requirements of being successful. This speech is important to study because success is so vital and important for our survival as human beings, it
changes the world. No matter your race, religion, culture, etc., you want to be successful and that will have a different definition for everyone, because
only you can define what success means to you. "How Bad Do You Want It" encourages itsaudience to think differently about wanting to be successful
and how to make it happen. This speech holds all the components Aristotle says a speech needs to be effective which include, persuasive, decorative,
and informational, also meaning motivational, actionable, and fun (Morgan, 2016). While watching the football player perform each exercise
repeatedly, I witnessed the effort and dedication he exerted through each set – this commitment resonated with me, as I am also an athlete who is
expected to elicit these qualities. Not only hay, the video serves as confirmation that success is only attainable for those who want it bad enough and
are willing to work for it. Even the background music playing provoked an internal motivation to be proactive.

Reflection Of A Persuasive Reflection
Reflection of a Persuasive Essay by Vickie Hale In my revision, I decided to incorporate actionable feedback from the feedback I received. The
feedback I received was that my essay needed more clarification, I choose to use this feedback to help make my argument more developed, I wanted to
create a better thought out essay and I worked on the clarification of my argument as well as renewed my research. With that, I did some critical
thinking to help work through the weak areas of my essay which was the structure and syntax. Therefore, I incorporated these suggestions because
they helped me to improve my essay and help me to create a more persuasive essay. Without these changes alongside the small revisions, I made, I do
not believe my essay would have been as well–written so they were much needed. My biggest challenges came from not being able to pin down my
argument, it took me a while to come find a side to an argument that wasn't vague. Because, I usually write in a creative way, which does not
necessarily have to be persuasive, I usually write fictional stories and people getting the understanding from the experiences of the characters is the
outcome, but with persuasive writing, you are trying to get your readers to not only agree with your side of the argument but to see what and why
you are arguing your side in the first place. This became difficult for me because I kept feeling like my argument was not central and a little vague.
I worked on trying to help my readers understand what and why I was arguing my side of the argument. I had to think about who was reading my
essay and this helped. What I could have done differently is choose a more central argument, I believe it would have reduced my challenges. This
question is hard for me to answer because I did not receive but one peer feedback, the feedback I incorporated concerning my exploration of the
issue was more clarification because that was one of the problems my peer review pointed out. I worked on my clarification because it is one of the
main elements, that is needed when you are writing a persuasive essay or any essay for that matter. Clarification gives the essay structure so your
readers can have a full understanding of your

Persuasive Essay On Online Classes
Most people think highly of online classes; get to work from home, get to work on a flexible schedule, and anyone can do it. Though no one has
heard the cons of taking one. I personally took three semesters of online classes in high school and had a horrible experience. Because of loose
scheduling, poor communication, and the focus needed, online classes are not suitable for procrastinators. To give a better understanding, I will
summarize my experience with the class. Me, being a procrastinator, thought to myself: I'll just work on the weekends and if I don't finish the class by
the end of the school year, I can finish within the first few weeks of summer. This was a god awful plan. Unsurprisingly, close to nothing was
accomplished on the weekends. Friends would ask me to hang out every weekend, and I did every time. Why would I want to work on my class on the
weekend when I could be having fun? I would later regret this decision. On the days I stayed home and could have worked on the class, I completed
nothing. On these days, I would tell myself: I'll just complete what I didn't do this weekend next weekend. This rarely happened. Thus, the cycle of
getting nothing accomplished started. I disregarded my class for most of the first semester of junior year. With only nine assignments out of eighty
finished after the first semester of the school year, I was immensely behind. I told myself to get my act together during second semester and grind out
these two semesters

I. Introduction
Attention material/Credibility: No we're not hungry, no we're not worried. We're just living life right now. Tomorrow? What is Tomorrow? If we for
a second, glimpse into the future, we would see people suffering from the thoughtless decisions we are making right now. I don 't want to see my
family starving or without water. If you don 't care about your self, then care for your family, or for your future family. They are the ones that will be
affected by climate change.

Persuasive Speech Outline
Well, the persuasive speech did not go the best for me. I was extremely nervous and I could not snap out of it; which I'm sure was obvious in the
video. On the bright side, though, my catch phrase made it easier to grab the attention of my audience! It also helped that my persuasive speech outline
had good flow. My persuasive speech contained a lot of resourceful information that I hope made people actually think about becoming an organ
donor. I made sure to include multiple statistics so that my audience would know how many people are actually awaiting organ and tissue donation.
Providing this information in my speech was resourceful to my audience as well as myself because organ and tissue donation is not generally a topic
that people think a lot about and therefore they might not know the real importance of organ and tissue donation....show more content...
I have no idea why this speech made me so nervous. Due to the fact that I was extremely nervous, my mind kept freezing up on me, so, therefore, I
was referring to my note cards more than I needed to be; which made the speech not flow as smoothly as I would have liked it to. Furthermore,
because I was referring to my note cards more, my eye contact was lacking. My eye contact was the one thing in my speech that needed the most
improvement. Also, my nonverbal communication was good in the fact that I did not move my hands around a lot, but did have quite a few nervous
twitches. The nonverbal that were displayed in this persuasive speech were better than the other two speeches, but I still need to work on a couple of
things, such as, having a glass of water next to me so that I do not have to swallow so

Outline And Objective Of A Persuasive Text
Semester A Unit 6 Lesson 5
Introduction and Objective
Putting together supporting evidence, reasons, and a claim in a persuasive text is a lot like building a puzzle. Without the outside border, the inside
pieces won't seem complete and without the inside pieces, you have an empty picture. Evidence and reasoning are the two basic pieces of your
persuasive letter. Without these, you'll simply have a frame–your claim–without information to complete the argument. Explaining how things connect
for your reader is one of the most important ways to strengthen your argument.
Today 's lesson objective is: Students will be able to develop an analysis using relevant evidence from texts to support claims, opinions, ideas, and
inferences.
When...show more content...
Now that you have a list of sources and have written down some basic evidence, you need to make sure that you find information from those sources
that relates to and supports your claim and your reasons. One of the most basic ways to find information from your sources is to first look for
examples. Can you find an example of what you're trying to claim? Can you find an example of your reason?
Let's take a look at an example using the "claim, reasons, and sources chart" from our previous lesson.
Claim: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a great leader who demonstrated it through his writing, speeches, and dedication to civil rights and peace.
Reasons:
1.His letters were incredibly persuasive, including "Letter from Birmingham Jail."
2.His speeches were inspiring and heard by many during the civil rights movement.
3.Although he received many threats on his life, he kept leading and participating in nonviolent protests for equality.
One of our pieces of evidence from the encyclopedia article was as follows: "'Letter from Birmingham Jail' is addressed to several clergymen who had
written an open letter criticizing the actions of Dr. King and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) during their protests in
Birmingham."
This is a great summary, but you need to find specific quotes or statistics from the source itself to include in your paper. For this example, we would
need to find an

Procrastination
I.Attention Getter: A famous author by the name of Wayne Dyer once said, "Procrastination is one of the most common and deadliest of diseases and
its toll on success and happiness is incredibly heavy."(1) In todays society it seems as if procrastination has become a normal and acceptable thing to do.
It is often joked about amongst schoolmates and co–workers around the world. Nothing seems to get done until it absolutely needs to get done, then
everyone runs around getting things done quickly and often times inaccurately. The trouble with this mentality however is that some things will never
get done because something will come up tomorrow or the next day and what you are putting off now gets pushed even further back. Today I will
persuade you to stop this habit from continuing. I will be explaining the problems we face when dealing with procrastination as well as how to deal
with it and actions you can take to prevent it in the future.
Transition: It is in our human nature to procrastinate, some of us do it more than others but learning about this problem and understanding how it can
effect you can be beneficial to everyone

III. On the flip side of this coin it could said that there is extenuating circumstances in this situation. A) Doctors take an oath not to do harm and
assisting a patient with suicide could be a Violation of their oath. B) According to the " Journal ofMedical Ethics" it may not be that simple to assist
with Suicide, some people have violent reactions to the medications and do not die.
IV. Some would say that there are religious issues with suicide, but according to "Clarifying Christianity" the Bible speaks in Exodus (20) verse 1–17
that we should not murder. That is often taken out of context and one cannot simply murder their own self.
V. Death is not easy at all, not for the patient of their family, but it can be more "peaceful" and everyone should have the right to choose their own end
when all that lies ahead is needless pain and suffering for an end that is certainly coming.
Closing

  • 2. Outline For Persuasive Essay a. Life's lemonade is not always an experience worthy of savoring, but rather an enlightenment of what our motives are, and how we can take control of our lives. i. Most things in life, aren't as they seem and as people we tend to lean towards what seems to be easier other than focusing on the potential of becoming great by taking the long way. b. Thesis – When life leads a crooked path, it is our responsibility to take control and focus on (1) what should be other than what is, (2) make smart decisions, and (3) differentiate between good and bad as well as finding the good in bad. II. Body A. For example, almost everyone has gone through a struggle in their life whether it was life threatening or not and sometimes it just seemed as if there ...show more content... With so many choices it is only relevant that before making decisions we map out our goals. "Your goal is clearly in sight. The moment you put everything in its place, you have crossed the finishing line" (Kondo). ii. Maintaining order is very crucial in life because success is for the organized. It is not for the physically organized only, but also for the mentally organized. The finishing line is closer than ever for most of us, but the question that remains is how can we have a successful life and when that question is answered we can work towards our goals. Be mistaken not because most life–long goals include sacrifices, up and downs, and time. C. In relation to taking control, people usually sulk because things aren't going their way yet all they need to do is figure out how they can make things better in their lives. For instance, a student that gets a failing grade should not bicker about why things turned out that way, but work towards fixing the grade for a better overall result. i. It is not about why, but how we can become a better version of ourselves. "There is really nothing more to say except–why. But since why is difficult to handle, one must take refuge in how" Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Persuasive Speech Essay Joseph Froehle Public Speaking Class Persuasive Speech Outline Topic: Organ Donation Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to donate their organs and tissues when they die and to act upon their decision to donate. Thesis Statement: The need is constantly growing for organ donors and it is very simple to be an organ donor when you die. I. INTRODUCTION A. Attention material/Credibility Material: How do you feel when you have to wait for something you really, really want? What if it was something you couldn't live without? Well, my cousin was five years old when he found out he needed a new kidney. He went on the organ waiting list right away. Give my heart to a person whose heart has caused nothing but endless days of pain... Take my bones, every muscle, every fiber and nerve in my body and find a way to make a crippled child walk...Take my cells, if necessary, and let them grow so that, someday, a speechless boy will shout at the crack of a bat and a deaf girl will hear the sound of rain against her window b. Not only is this a problem nationally but also it is a big problem right here at home in Colorado. 1) Nationally, there are over 120,000 people waiting as of November 1, 2011. As of November 7, 2011, there are 1,142 people from Colorado that are on the organ waiting list (Life Source: Statistics). 2) The sad part is that there have only been 137 donors in Colorado so far from January 2011 through November 2011 (Life Source: Newsnotes). [Transition: I'm sure that you can see the need for people like you to donate your organs. But you might be asking, well, how can I make sure my organs are donated after I die? Let me tell you.] B. • 5. Outline For Persuasive Speech On Minimum Wage I. Introduction A. Who here likes money? Who here would like to have some more? Even if you didn't raise your hand, you would probably be lying to say you haven't wanted cash at one point or another. B. And you wouldn't be alone in answering yes to the second question. You'd likely be with the millions of unemployed people, people below the poverty line, and people who earn the measly $7.25 federal minimum wage that would like to earn more money. There are many in the latter group who are trying to support families solely off of a minimum wage job. C. Good morning, everyone. My name is Benjamin Mayberry, and I have been actively researching the federal minimum wage for several weeks now. Today, I will be informing you all about the current minimum wage, why there is a growing movement to increase it, as well as the potential positive and negative effects of doing so, and whether or not common arguments are credible. Transition: To begin, allow me to provide some context as to why the call for an increased minimum wage is present. II. Body A. Since July 24, 2009, the federal minimum wage has been $7.25, but as of 2016 the living wage – the hourly rate a single person must earn to support themselves or their family – is quite a bit higher. a. The living wage for a single adult in Wisconsin is $10.58. There is obviously a significant disparity between this and the federal minimum wage. For people working minimum wage jobs as their only source of income, they earn Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I get it eating healthy can be a problem for some people even though you may just be that person that chooses not to eat healthy it can still be a struggle. Everyone and their family enjoy eating things such as (Cakes,Pies,Ice Cream,Cookies, etc.) so why would you choose to eat healthy foods over that? Obesity occurs over time when you eat more calories than you use. The balance between your genetic makeup, overeating, eating high–fat foods, and not being physically active. Being obese increases your risk of diabetes, heart disease, stroke, arthritis, and some cancers. If you are obese, losing even 5 to 10 percent of your weight can delay or prevent some of these diseases. For example, that means losing 10 to 20 pounds if you weigh 200 pounds. All of this can come from eating unhealthy foods. Anyone who struggles with food and eating can fall into habits that may lead to what professionals call disordered eating. Disordered eating can take many forms, ranging from unhealthy eating habits that keep you from losing weight. "Healthy functioning organs require adequate nutrition, and healthy hair follicles are no exception. Starvation diets that lead to severe protein–energy malnutrition can cause brittle hair or worse, hair loss. Studies show diets that are low in protein, essential fatty acids, and nutrients such as Vitamin C, zinc and iron are associated with hair loss, thinning, and loss of pigmentation." • 10. Persuasive Essay On Success Goals, something every human being on this planet has and to reach those goals you must be successful. We set goals to fulfill our purpose in life, but to do that, you must be successful in meeting and completing those goals. "How Bad Do You Want It?" is a motivational speech that highlights the requirements of being successful. This speech is important to study because success is so vital and important for our survival as human beings, it changes the world. No matter your race, religion, culture, etc., you want to be successful and that will have a different definition for everyone, because only you can define what success means to you. "How Bad Do You Want It" encourages itsaudience to think differently about wanting to be successful and how to make it happen. This speech holds all the components Aristotle says a speech needs to be effective which include, persuasive, decorative, and informational, also meaning motivational, actionable, and fun (Morgan, 2016). While watching the football player perform each exercise repeatedly, I witnessed the effort and dedication he exerted through each set – this commitment resonated with me, as I am also an athlete who is expected to elicit these qualities. Not only hay, the video serves as confirmation that success is only attainable for those who want it bad enough and are willing to work for it. Even the background music playing provoked an internal motivation to be proactive. By delivering Eric Thomas's speech in his unique hip Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 13. Reflection Of A Persuasive Reflection Reflection of a Persuasive Essay by Vickie Hale In my revision, I decided to incorporate actionable feedback from the feedback I received. The feedback I received was that my essay needed more clarification, I choose to use this feedback to help make my argument more developed, I wanted to create a better thought out essay and I worked on the clarification of my argument as well as renewed my research. With that, I did some critical thinking to help work through the weak areas of my essay which was the structure and syntax. Therefore, I incorporated these suggestions because they helped me to improve my essay and help me to create a more persuasive essay. Without these changes alongside the small revisions, I made, I do not believe my essay would have been as well–written so they were much needed. My biggest challenges came from not being able to pin down my argument, it took me a while to come find a side to an argument that wasn't vague. Because, I usually write in a creative way, which does not necessarily have to be persuasive, I usually write fictional stories and people getting the understanding from the experiences of the characters is the outcome, but with persuasive writing, you are trying to get your readers to not only agree with your side of the argument but to see what and why you are arguing your side in the first place. This became difficult for me because I kept feeling like my argument was not central and a little vague. I worked on trying to help my readers understand what and why I was arguing my side of the argument. I had to think about who was reading my essay and this helped. What I could have done differently is choose a more central argument, I believe it would have reduced my challenges. This question is hard for me to answer because I did not receive but one peer feedback, the feedback I incorporated concerning my exploration of the issue was more clarification because that was one of the problems my peer review pointed out. I worked on my clarification because it is one of the main elements, that is needed when you are writing a persuasive essay or any essay for that matter. Clarification gives the essay structure so your readers can have a full understanding of your Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Persuasive Essay On Online Classes Most people think highly of online classes; get to work from home, get to work on a flexible schedule, and anyone can do it. Though no one has heard the cons of taking one. I personally took three semesters of online classes in high school and had a horrible experience. Because of loose scheduling, poor communication, and the focus needed, online classes are not suitable for procrastinators. To give a better understanding, I will summarize my experience with the class. Me, being a procrastinator, thought to myself: I'll just work on the weekends and if I don't finish the class by the end of the school year, I can finish within the first few weeks of summer. This was a god awful plan. Unsurprisingly, close to nothing was accomplished on the weekends. Friends would ask me to hang out every weekend, and I did every time. Why would I want to work on my class on the weekend when I could be having fun? I would later regret this decision. On the days I stayed home and could have worked on the class, I completed nothing. On these days, I would tell myself: I'll just complete what I didn't do this weekend next weekend. This rarely happened. Thus, the cycle of getting nothing accomplished started. I disregarded my class for most of the first semester of junior year. With only nine assignments out of eighty finished after the first semester of the school year, I was immensely behind. I told myself to get my act together during second semester and grind out these two semesters Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Furthermore, because I was referring to my note cards more, my eye contact was lacking. My eye contact was the one thing in my speech that needed the most improvement. Also, my nonverbal communication was good in the fact that I did not move my hands around a lot, but did have quite a few nervous twitches. The nonverbal that were displayed in this persuasive speech were better than the other two speeches, but I still need to work on a couple of things, such as, having a glass of water next to me so that I do not have to swallow so Get more content on HelpWriting.net
