Working Title: Nova Magazine
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Audience: Career professionals aged 18-49, with a focus on the twenties to early thirties
demographic for a young and passionate audience. The magazine would be geared towards
those who highly value their chosen profession, and are devoted to what they work for,
whether that be out of loyalty to their employer or their own personal satisfaction. This
justifies the emphasis on new and innovative content and professional developments. In
terms of gender no distinction is made to appeal specifically to men or women, as the
content it covers can be appealing to both. Social status also has no noticeable influence
over the direction of the magazine, but the focus on cutting-edge developments, which are
most commonly achieved through lengthy research and hefty finances, could possibly
sway it towards a Type-A, B, C1 audience.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc. Use the
Audience Classifications PowerPoint on Blackboard to help you develop this section.
Why would your project appeal to this person? Discuss each audience element in relation to
content (why would your product appeal to the age group? Why would your product appeal to the
gender? Etc.)
Rationale (approx. 100 words): The skills I have accumulated through repeated use and
practice with Photoshop and similar software have given me a cohesive understanding on
what is necessary to produce an appropriate product. I have insofar created four pieces of
magazine work, two front covers and two double-page spreads. I am knowledgeable of the
conventions of both sections thanks to extensive research and analysis, and with my
previous experience I am confident that I can create a product that surpasses what I have
already made. The material I have chosen to use for the project also intrigues me on a
personal level, and I am excited to begin the project.
Review your progress throughout the year- what video game and Photoshop skills and knowledge
have you acquired? How will you use those skills?
What was your advergame and how will it have a direct impact upon your project?
Project Concept (approx. 200 words): A magazine that covers the newest, weirdest, most
advanced and exciting innovations in the professional industry. Covering careers and
developments in technology, fashion, classics, architecture, and an even wider array of
niche occupations that are normally left out of the bigger picture. There would also be a
focus on the young rising stars making a name for themselves, hooking in a younger
audience and creating an outlet for said stars to spread word of their work and bolster their
reputations, lending the magazine a level of credibility, authority, and prominence. The
proper research needed to create such a product would be to look into the processes and
techniques that are already being used to create such unique developments, and seeing
what kind of inventions could potentially result from such practices. Necessary materials
would also include interviews and statements from known experts and professionals,
establishing the product as a reputable source of content that the audience can depend
upon to be trustworthy and forthright. Also of assistance would be research into the
planned aesthetics of the project, in order for it to properly pull off the intended design
choice of pop art, further adding to its reputation by giving a noticeable and unique artistic
flair.
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project/

Evaluation (approx. 50 words): The main vectors of evaluation I have planned are based off
of grammar, presentation, originality, and how well I have managed to follow through on
promises made by the concept. I shall stay truthful and acknowledge both the successes
and shortcomings of the project, and whether the contents can be seen as a cohesive and
fluid whole.
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation (Production
Reflections) and your final self-reflection (Evaluation), analysing your work and its outcomes.
How will this process help developing your working practices as you continue with your
study/media career?
