Bright masthead, using
fishing terminology.
A pun, used to imprint
on the reader’s mind
and draw the eye.
Central image used to grab the reader’s
attention, based on the principle of sex
appeal. I mimicked the technique of
another fishing magazine, notably using
bikini-clad women as cover models, and
flipped it around so that it would
attract the same kind of attention, just
through a different channel.
A fish-themed pun used to allude the
magazine’s material.
Fonts and colours used to draw
attention to certain subjects, colour
connotations featuring heavily into
the overall design.

3. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
– The use of colours and fonts to direct the reader’s
attention, as well as eye-catching or provocative
centre pictures to draw the eye. Also, word play
like puns can be used to imprint on the reader,
hooking them towards to product.
