The Between Undergrad And Grad Essay
To someone who hasn't been through grad school, there isn't much difference between the undergrad and grad coursework. Yet this preconceived
notion could be further from the truth. Without a doubt, the level of study for a graduate program is more rigorous and demanding than study
involved at the undergrad level. I've discovered only others who are in or have completed grad school truly understand what it is like. Further insights
on how the two levels of study differ can be found below. Reading. First, while undergrad courses require reading, it barely compares to the amount
required at the graduate level. Grad school entails a tremendous amount of reading, ranging anywhere from 50–100 pages per week. And if you are
taking multiple courses, be ready to multiply that figure. The only way to accomplish it all is to realize it is near impossible to read all the
material cover to cover. Expectation that you don't read it all, but rather skim the articles and pull out main points. As a result I have learned a
different way to approach reading articles and develop an understanding of the material. Reflection. Along with the extensive reading comes a high
level of reflection of the material covered. Personally, I believe this is the paramount difference between undergrad and grad study. In undergrad you
learn what you already know and for lack of a better word regurgitate the right answer on a test and move on. In contrast, in grad school you are

Non-Traditional Students Essay example
With today's changing world and the economy the way it is, it is not uncommon for people of all ages to enter the college setting. In fact, two–thirds of
students entering the college setting are classified non–traditional (Brown, 2007). Bill (2003) found that there was an 11% increase of non–traditional
student enrollment from 1991–1998 displaying 35% in 91 and 46% in 1998. These numbers have since increased according to Jacobson & Harris
(2008) showing that half to 75% of undergraduates consist of the non–traditional student sitting the reasons for reentering the college setting to be

Question # 2 Career Counseling can be beneficial to everyone that seeks employment. However, when seeking advice and assistance on something as
important as a career, people should know the credentials of the counselor. Many individuals that pursue career counseling follow a variety of code of
ethics and ethical guidelines according to Brown (2007). With this being said, it is important that career counseling practice should be regulated.
According to Porter, Gildon, & Zgliczynski (2000), people claiming to be counselors is a serious problem in the state of California because no
formal standards are set for appropriate licensure except for that of a marriage counselor. This lack of standards and credentials causes many
problems for those seeking advice and assistance with a particular problem. More importantly, the public is not protected even if they take a case to
court and the "counselor" is found guilty. What is to be taken away? He can continue to practice because he does not have a certificate to begin with.

The Master Of Teaching Program Essay
Statement of Intent
I am seeking admission to the Master of Teaching program in the Intermediate/Senior Concentration through the Ontario Institute of Secondary
Education at the University of Toronto.
I have chosen to apply to the Master of Teaching program at OISE as a result of having had several exceptional teachers over the course of my
studies, who have ignited in me a passion for teaching, which reflected their own pedagogy. I am confident that OISE's innovative Master of Teaching
program will provide me with the resources and skills required to make conscientious progress in my professional goal of becoming a secondary
school teacher. The opportunity to study and work alongside such strong academic, professional and acclaimed instructors such as Garfield
Gini–Newman, with his observations and insights on effective teaching and learning strategies in the digital age, is an invaluable experience for an
aspiring educator such as myself. In addition, it is heartening to see OISE's commitment to teaching excellence reflected in the Master of Teaching
curriculum as it addresses major issues in education, human development, and professional practice. I especially anticipate the opportunity to
participate in the mental health courses, given that recent reports indicate an increase in mental health issues among Ontario adolescence. The research
component of the curriculum also intrigues me as it allows for exploration, future specialization and the acquisition of

After High School what's next?
When I was a little girl my friends and I always talked about what we were going to be when we grew up. Some said a teacher; others said a nurse,
secretary, and even a mom. I knew what I was going to be, but what we don't think about is how we get to be these things. We float through elementary
school, having small children fun. Next we go to middle school trying to find our ways in the world, some of us worries about grades, and some don't.
Not many thinking ahead of high school, let alone college. In high school we soon realize that grades are very important and better grades give you a
better chance at better colleges. So those of us who want to go to college start cramping down on our studies so we can get those desirable grades. I
may have not been the perfect student throughout high school. My Study habits could have been better, but one thing I do know is that I want to do
more with my life than just a high school diploma.
My thoughts go to what college should I go to? Which one is best? What can I afford? Do I stay on campus or live at home? Maybe get a roommate
and share an apartment I'm still not sure about that. I want to take a course to become an Ultrasound Technician. Living here in Allentown, Pa a few
choices I have is McCann, and they offer a medical assisting course. I would apply for financial aid and even have to get a student loan. Also there is
Northampton Community College, not too far, cost is somewhat more than McCann

High School Graduation Essay
Graduation
Through out life people go through so many hardships. Whether it be good or bad there is always something that comes out of the situation. One of
the most exciting but yet scariest events would be graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and
effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed. Graduation is the end of high school, and the
beginning to life. I can almost remember that day like it was yesterday, I awoke like on any other school day. It was a gorgeous May morning, therays
of sun flittered through my miniblinds blinding me as if I hadn't seen light in days. I sluggishly dragged my limp body out of...show more content...
Once I was finished, I gathered up my cap and gown and my car keys and headed out the door. All the graduates had to meet in the high school library
an hour before the ceremonies started, and I promised one of my best friends Tony that we would go together. I knocked on his back door and let
myself in like I always do. All of his family members were running throughout the house trying to get ready. I asked his mom where Tony was and
she proceeded to tell me that he was in the bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the mirror
with his cap and gown on. He look me straight in the eyes and said," Can you believe that we are about to graduate?" I replied," No, it really hasn't
set in yet." Tony finished getting ready, and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors' cars. Tony and I
walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all
ears. I couldn't help but look around at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke. Once the principal
concluded his speech, the whole senior class paraded down the hallway to the commons in two uniform lines stopping just outside the gymnasium
doors. We could hear the band warming up and playing songs. All the people that were standing around me were bubbling

Public Health Statement of Purpose Essay
8 March 2010
Statement of Purpose (PUBLIC HEALTH)
Since early childhood, I always believed I would choose a career in the medical field. When I was five years old, I was asked: "What do you want to be
when you grow up"? I always responded by saying: "I want to become a dentist". I began to pursue my lifelong goal of becoming a dentist or
doctor after enrolling at the University of Georgia majoring in biology. I interviewed and shadowed many doctors, all of whom specialized in
different areas. I learned about the education process of becoming a doctor, daily tasks, their lifestyle, and the hours they worked. However, the more
time I spent shadowing and working with people in those fields; the less I believed that a career as a...show more content...
I was drawn to the idea of not only focusing on one–on–one patient care that doctors provide, but also solving problems that affect the health of entire
populations. The study of disease and health within populations; for instance, preventing disease, promoting health, and reducing health problems
between groups are the main reasons I want to pursue an M.P.H focusing onepidemiology. These are my strongest interests because I believe they are
important in improving our world's health.
One of the most appealing aspects of becoming a public health professional is the wide range of careers available to choose from. My career goals
coincide with the range of opportunities; however, ultimately I want to work with an organization similar to the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention in Atlanta. I want to focus on the social and medical aspects of disease, and examine the disproportionate rates of disease and disability
among minorities. I also want to help prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS that is rapidly destroying so many countries. My
passion to help others around me has sparked a desire to work with clinics around the world in order to promote change in the treatment and
prevention of devastating diseases like HIV/AIDS. Attending the University of Georgia's School of Public Health will allow me to achieve my goals
of furthering my public health education through the coursework offered as part of its M.P.H program. I have

throughout the entire school year. When some of the kids came there they were struggling with certain subjects such as reading and math. When
they received their first report card the grades were kind of low, but after a while there grades slowly progressed and they were so excited to show
me there grades it made me so happy. It made me feel good to know that I made a difference in their lives. After I finished my needed hours for the
internship I still stayed at the center because I felt like the kids there needed me and I made a difference in their lives. I guess the director felt I
was such a huge help to the students that they decided to hire me full time. Due to lack of funding the center closed down and the students no

Pursuing A Graduate Degree Essay
Pursuing a graduate degree, specifically a PhD, is a decision that was made only in the last few years. This new direction was largely based on my
recent exposure to higher education in general, but to minority women in higher education specifically. To help explain how this exposure helped to
propel my desire to pursue a graduate degree at this point in my life, I feel it's important to provide you with some background information and
context of my upbringing. My parents are immigrated from Mexico shortly after getting married. Although my father had been coming to the United
States since he was a teen to work, he did this seasonally and would return to Mexico when the agricultural season ended. After my parents married
they settled in a small agricultural town in a coastal town of California. It is in this small town that my parents raised their 6 children. Holding on to
their traditional values we were raised in a traditional manner; from a young age the girls were expected to help out in the house and contribute by
doing housework while the boys were expected to help my father which included helping out in the fields. It was in this way that my parents tried to
instill many of the same values which they had acquired in their youth growing up in Mexico. Although they wanted us to do well in school it wasn't
something that was strongly emphasized. Perhaps it was due to their limited exposure to education and the lack of educational opportunities my parent's
had growing up.

Public Administration, as a field, had always captivated me right from my undergraduate days. I believe my curiosity for this field comes from my
family. Both my father and my uncle were politicians. During my early days, I used to go to my father's office where I had a great chance to observe
different kinds of people with various jobs and interests. This was the first time I learned how mutual interests bring people together. When I
understood how public relations work naturally, it forced me strongly to study and comprehend the complex theory of politics. After finishing high

While there may be many experiences and attributes that I possess that will be a catalyst in my success as a physical therapist there are three that I

Grad School Is Trash for Students of Color and We Should Talk About That
Stop theorizing Black people like we do not exist.
Currently, I am a Master of Divinity Student at Harvard University. I study divinity because I care about people at their core. I am concerned with, as
Cornel West would say, "soulcraft", how one's internal conceptions come to be. And in turn, how our internal understandings influence our interactions
with the world. I desire to help people by calling them into themselves and as result, hopefully, nudging them towards developing what is meaningful
for them, career wise, interpersonally, aesthetically, spiritually– a better holistic self.

You can read about that experience here. However, in every class at Harvard, I must implore my colleagues to acknowledge theBlackness extends
beyond theory, that Blackness is a living breathing human experience full of multiplicity and dynamic intersections.
My classmates talk about Black people like we are some amorphous concept that they read about in that one Black studies course they had to take to
satisfy their undergraduate degree. When I say, "uh, this article is racist," my colleagues respond with "but we can't just throw the baby out with the
bath water." Which is code for, yes this is racist, but I will still use this article to further my own research and maximize my personal scholastic gain.
Personally, I think we should throw out the whole tub.
For me, I grew irreparably disheartened during a wildly racist incident in one of my classes wherein a student presented a project that blatantly
suggested that Black people become human once we are educated and earn money. After the project was presented, myself and other Black students in
the class expressed our deep discomfort, pain, and anger at the project presented. Following the assertion of our pain, we spent two class sessions
debriefing the incident. The below paragraph is what I learned during these discussions.
Higher learning is intentionally structured to preclude white people from truly interacting with Black people and people of color. Master's and PhD

PERSONAL STATEMENT
My pursuit of becoming a School Counselor led me to apply to the School Counseling Master's Program at University of Maryland, College Park. I
am a former student at University of Maryland with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. After graduating and teaching for two years in
Prince George's County Public Schools, I discovered my true passion lies not only in the classroom and students' academics, but playing a pivotal role
in the growth of their career, social, and personal development. Although I am no longer teaching full–time at the moment, my interaction with students
from diverse backgrounds left an indelible responsibility to continue making a difference in our students. The objectives and mission of the School
Counseling Master's Program at University of Maryland can best help my goal of becoming an effective counselor and leader who is an agent of
change to students and service the mental and emotional well–being of the younger generation.
My motivation for pursuing graduate studies specifically at University of Maryland is because of the rigor and quality of instruction from the College of
Education that I received firsthand. I had the privilege of undertaking the Elementary Education program as an undergraduate at University of
Maryland. The program proved to be rigorous with high expectations from professors, mentors, and supervisors. Although the demands of the program

Essay on Reasons for Returning to College
Returning back to school was a very natural decision for me. It seemed to be the next logical step in my personal and career goals. My ultimate
goal is to be happy and healthy and be a good provider and role model. With that set aside for now, my next goal is to be financially stable and able
to provide for my family in ways that my family was not able to provide for me. I definitely expect to work for what I want and earn every bit of it.
The most recent motivator was that my company was willing to contribute a huge chunk of the yearly tuition, therefore removing some financial
burden. This makes me feel like they truly care about my future and they really want to see me succeed.
I have several personal reasons for returning to school....show more content...
I am also attracted to the idea of being a life long learner. I feel there is always more to gain and learning never ends. Whether it?s in the classroom, at
home, or in social situations, everyone has something to offer to me to expand my knowledge base. At the university, I hope to learn new theories and
practices that I?ve never thought about that I can apply to my daily life. My classmates will tell of their experiences that may be forever imprinted
into my memory. My instructors have a wealth of knowledge that I am eager to absorb. I feel that knowledge and information are the most powerful
tools to possess and use in everyday situations.
At this point in my life, I am content with where I am now, but I know there is more out there. If I do not concentrate on my goals that I am mentally
and physically capable to accomplish, my self esteem tends to suffer. It is important to obtain my goals in order to be fully content in my personal life.
I thrive on a good challenge. For example, if an assigned task is too easy, I tend to get bored and undervalue myself as a whole. I wonder why this
person assigned this task to me; do they think I am not capable of a more difficult task? I expect my courses at the university to challenge me in ways
I have never been challenged before.
The last reason I am returning to school is because I want to be a role model for my son. I feel

Reflection on Personal Goal for School Essay
For this semester, I have set three goals that I will be working towards to make improvements on. The first goal I set is to start an assignment the
day that it is assigned so that I do not procrastinate. The second goal I have set for this semester is to be more organized with my materials. The last
goal for this semester is to relieve my stress in a positive way. By working on these goals during the next couple of weeks, it will make my life a little
less stressful.
The first goal I need to work on is doing assignments ahead of time. I always wait until the last minute to do assignments and then everything gets

In the future organization will be key because I will have to keep track of not only the materials I need to teach but also the materials and papers
that my students hand in. By getting organized now it will give me practice on how I can organize my materials for my classroom. If I do not start
getting organized then I will never learn how to organize things and it will be a lot harder to keep track of everything once I get into my own classroom.
The last goal I have is to relieve my stress in a positive way. In the past, I have always kept my stress to myself and never really got rid of it. I
would keep it bottled up and then eventually I would have a break down and cry. If I don't start working on this now, then in the future holding in
my stress could result in me yelling or getting upset with my students for little things. I plan on going to the gym every day for at least an hour.
This will help burn off the stress hormones that I have and take my mind off of everything for a little while. When I feel myself getting stressed, I
can stop for a minute and just take a couple of deep breaths. This will help me during the day when I need a break. By starting this now I will get in a
good habit of relieving my stress.
The goal that is most important to me would be relieving my stress in a positive way. This is really important to me because stress can have a lot of
negative impacts on my health if I do not get rid of it. If I do not find a way

Why Grades Are Important Essay
Yes, grades are an effective means of motivating students to do their best work. If there were no grades why the students would like to work hard? Do
not they want to enjoy luxury and comforts in their youth? Surely, students want to enjoy their youth with luxury and comforts. They can not judge
themselves because they have no scale of judgment. It is the instructor only who judges the students comparatively and gives grades to them
accordingly. In this way, by receiving their grades students recognize their positions in the class. If their positions came to be low, they then try to
achieve higher positions by working hard because they want to achieve their goal of becoming great persons. As it is the nature of all the human beings

The farmer does his best to make his fields fit for better growth of the crops only in the hope of getting a good variety of crops so that they may

working hours to achieve his purpose because he does his work only for earning money to live in. Similar is the case with the students. Students
work because they want their instructor to give them high grades. Their future career depends on their grades they have made at this level. If they
got high grade their future will be bright because everyone gives credit to grades. Therefore, if students will get credit for their work they will
work even better for getting more and more credit. Otherwise, they will shirk work hard. Furthermore, God will also give rewards to those people
who have done good deeds in this world. That is why; all people do their best of doing good deeds so that they may be able to get reward from God
on their sacrifices and hardships. If there would be no reward from God, no one would want to do good deeds by facing hardships. Every one would
be free to committing sins or other bad deeds which will results in turmoil of the world. Same is the case with the students. If the instructor gives them
grades for their individual work they will

The Between Undergrad And Grad Essay

  • 1. The Between Undergrad And Grad Essay To someone who hasn't been through grad school, there isn't much difference between the undergrad and grad coursework. Yet this preconceived notion could be further from the truth. Without a doubt, the level of study for a graduate program is more rigorous and demanding than study involved at the undergrad level. I've discovered only others who are in or have completed grad school truly understand what it is like. Further insights on how the two levels of study differ can be found below. Reading. First, while undergrad courses require reading, it barely compares to the amount required at the graduate level. Grad school entails a tremendous amount of reading, ranging anywhere from 50–100 pages per week. And if you are taking multiple courses, be ready to multiply that figure. The only way to accomplish it all is to realize it is near impossible to read all the material cover to cover. Expectation that you don't read it all, but rather skim the articles and pull out main points. As a result I have learned a different way to approach reading articles and develop an understanding of the material. Reflection. Along with the extensive reading comes a high level of reflection of the material covered. Personally, I believe this is the paramount difference between undergrad and grad study. In undergrad you learn what you already know and for lack of a better word regurgitate the right answer on a test and move on. In contrast, in grad school you are searching for answers that are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Non-Traditional Students Essay example With today's changing world and the economy the way it is, it is not uncommon for people of all ages to enter the college setting. In fact, two–thirds of students entering the college setting are classified non–traditional (Brown, 2007). Bill (2003) found that there was an 11% increase of non–traditional student enrollment from 1991–1998 displaying 35% in 91 and 46% in 1998. These numbers have since increased according to Jacobson & Harris (2008) showing that half to 75% of undergraduates consist of the non–traditional student sitting the reasons for reentering the college setting to be economic. What exactly defines a non–traditional student and what services may they need in comparison to the traditional student. According to...show more content... Non–traditional students need services that aid them with their self–confidence. The non–traditional student may need added encouragement from the counselor that the choice that has been made suits his career options. He may need assurance that he correctly using the internet to research occupations of interest. The traditional student on the other hand may find it beneficial to be a part of peer counseling programs or internships. Question # 2 Career Counseling can be beneficial to everyone that seeks employment. However, when seeking advice and assistance on something as important as a career, people should know the credentials of the counselor. Many individuals that pursue career counseling follow a variety of code of ethics and ethical guidelines according to Brown (2007). With this being said, it is important that career counseling practice should be regulated. According to Porter, Gildon, & Zgliczynski (2000), people claiming to be counselors is a serious problem in the state of California because no formal standards are set for appropriate licensure except for that of a marriage counselor. This lack of standards and credentials causes many problems for those seeking advice and assistance with a particular problem. More importantly, the public is not protected even if they take a case to court and the "counselor" is found guilty. What is to be taken away? He can continue to practice because he does not have a certificate to begin with. Lreh Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 4. The Master Of Teaching Program Essay Statement of Intent I am seeking admission to the Master of Teaching program in the Intermediate/Senior Concentration through the Ontario Institute of Secondary Education at the University of Toronto. I have chosen to apply to the Master of Teaching program at OISE as a result of having had several exceptional teachers over the course of my studies, who have ignited in me a passion for teaching, which reflected their own pedagogy. I am confident that OISE's innovative Master of Teaching program will provide me with the resources and skills required to make conscientious progress in my professional goal of becoming a secondary school teacher. The opportunity to study and work alongside such strong academic, professional and acclaimed instructors such as Garfield Gini–Newman, with his observations and insights on effective teaching and learning strategies in the digital age, is an invaluable experience for an aspiring educator such as myself. In addition, it is heartening to see OISE's commitment to teaching excellence reflected in the Master of Teaching curriculum as it addresses major issues in education, human development, and professional practice. I especially anticipate the opportunity to participate in the mental health courses, given that recent reports indicate an increase in mental health issues among Ontario adolescence. The research component of the curriculum also intrigues me as it allows for exploration, future specialization and the acquisition of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Post Graduation Plan Essay After High School what's next? When I was a little girl my friends and I always talked about what we were going to be when we grew up. Some said a teacher; others said a nurse, secretary, and even a mom. I knew what I was going to be, but what we don't think about is how we get to be these things. We float through elementary school, having small children fun. Next we go to middle school trying to find our ways in the world, some of us worries about grades, and some don't. Not many thinking ahead of high school, let alone college. In high school we soon realize that grades are very important and better grades give you a better chance at better colleges. So those of us who want to go to college start cramping down on our studies so we can get those desirable grades. I may have not been the perfect student throughout high school. My Study habits could have been better, but one thing I do know is that I want to do more with my life than just a high school diploma. My thoughts go to what college should I go to? Which one is best? What can I afford? Do I stay on campus or live at home? Maybe get a roommate and share an apartment I'm still not sure about that. I want to take a course to become an Ultrasound Technician. Living here in Allentown, Pa a few choices I have is McCann, and they offer a medical assisting course. I would apply for financial aid and even have to get a student loan. Also there is Northampton Community College, not too far, cost is somewhat more than McCann Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. High School Graduation Essay Graduation Through out life people go through so many hardships. Whether it be good or bad there is always something that comes out of the situation. One of the most exciting but yet scariest events would be graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed. Graduation is the end of high school, and the beginning to life. I can almost remember that day like it was yesterday, I awoke like on any other school day. It was a gorgeous May morning, therays of sun flittered through my miniblinds blinding me as if I hadn't seen light in days. I sluggishly dragged my limp body out of...show more content... Once I was finished, I gathered up my cap and gown and my car keys and headed out the door. All the graduates had to meet in the high school library an hour before the ceremonies started, and I promised one of my best friends Tony that we would go together. I knocked on his back door and let myself in like I always do. All of his family members were running throughout the house trying to get ready. I asked his mom where Tony was and she proceeded to tell me that he was in the bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the mirror with his cap and gown on. He look me straight in the eyes and said," Can you believe that we are about to graduate?" I replied," No, it really hasn't set in yet." Tony finished getting ready, and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors' cars. Tony and I walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all ears. I couldn't help but look around at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke. Once the principal concluded his speech, the whole senior class paraded down the hallway to the commons in two uniform lines stopping just outside the gymnasium doors. We could hear the band warming up and playing songs. All the people that were standing around me were bubbling Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Public Health Statement of Purpose Essay 8 March 2010 Statement of Purpose (PUBLIC HEALTH) Since early childhood, I always believed I would choose a career in the medical field. When I was five years old, I was asked: "What do you want to be when you grow up"? I always responded by saying: "I want to become a dentist". I began to pursue my lifelong goal of becoming a dentist or doctor after enrolling at the University of Georgia majoring in biology. I interviewed and shadowed many doctors, all of whom specialized in different areas. I learned about the education process of becoming a doctor, daily tasks, their lifestyle, and the hours they worked. However, the more time I spent shadowing and working with people in those fields; the less I believed that a career as a...show more content... I was drawn to the idea of not only focusing on one–on–one patient care that doctors provide, but also solving problems that affect the health of entire populations. The study of disease and health within populations; for instance, preventing disease, promoting health, and reducing health problems between groups are the main reasons I want to pursue an M.P.H focusing onepidemiology. These are my strongest interests because I believe they are important in improving our world's health. One of the most appealing aspects of becoming a public health professional is the wide range of careers available to choose from. My career goals coincide with the range of opportunities; however, ultimately I want to work with an organization similar to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. I want to focus on the social and medical aspects of disease, and examine the disproportionate rates of disease and disability among minorities. I also want to help prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS that is rapidly destroying so many countries. My passion to help others around me has sparked a desire to work with clinics around the world in order to promote change in the treatment and prevention of devastating diseases like HIV/AIDS. Attending the University of Georgia's School of Public Health will allow me to achieve my goals of furthering my public health education through the coursework offered as part of its M.P.H program. • 9. Why I Want to Attend Graduate School Essay I would like to Attend Capella University's Masters Program in School Counseling. I have always known that I wanted to work with children ever since I can remember. Working with children is something that I have always enjoyed doing even if it was tutoring, or just being around them. The reason I want to receive my Master's Degree in School Counseling is to become a Guidance Counselor. Being a guidance counselor you can make a difference in a child's life, whether it's talking to them about their grades, peer pressure, or any of the things that children of all ages go through in school and in life. The moment I knew I wanted to be a guidance counselor was at the age of 14, and attending middle school. I can remember my guidance...show more content... The program that I was assigned to work with was the After School Program. At first I was just an assistant for the teachers, but then I became one of the lead teachers. I helped with homework, reading, planning activities, creating the curriculum and a lot more. I stayed with the center throughout the entire school year. When some of the kids came there they were struggling with certain subjects such as reading and math. When they received their first report card the grades were kind of low, but after a while there grades slowly progressed and they were so excited to show me there grades it made me so happy. It made me feel good to know that I made a difference in their lives. After I finished my needed hours for the internship I still stayed at the center because I felt like the kids there needed me and I made a difference in their lives. I guess the director felt I was such a huge help to the students that they decided to hire me full time. Due to lack of funding the center closed down and the students no longer had a place to go. I still keep in contact with some of the parents and students just to see how they are doing and they all say the same thing, I helped them stay on the right path. Every time I see one of them I know that I made a difference. I am now employed with the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services where I am a Medicaid Eligibility worker. • 10. Pursuing A Graduate Degree Essay Pursuing a graduate degree, specifically a PhD, is a decision that was made only in the last few years. This new direction was largely based on my recent exposure to higher education in general, but to minority women in higher education specifically. To help explain how this exposure helped to propel my desire to pursue a graduate degree at this point in my life, I feel it's important to provide you with some background information and context of my upbringing. My parents are immigrated from Mexico shortly after getting married. Although my father had been coming to the United States since he was a teen to work, he did this seasonally and would return to Mexico when the agricultural season ended. After my parents married they settled in a small agricultural town in a coastal town of California. It is in this small town that my parents raised their 6 children. Holding on to their traditional values we were raised in a traditional manner; from a young age the girls were expected to help out in the house and contribute by doing housework while the boys were expected to help my father which included helping out in the fields. It was in this way that my parents tried to instill many of the same values which they had acquired in their youth growing up in Mexico. Although they wanted us to do well in school it wasn't something that was strongly emphasized. Perhaps it was due to their limited exposure to education and the lack of educational opportunities my parent's had growing up. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Application Essay For Physical Therapy While there may be many experiences and attributes that I possess that will be a catalyst in my success as a physical therapist there are three that I feel have thoroughly prepared me for the physical therapy profession. First is the attribute of empathy. I feel that I am empathetic as a result of growing up with an older brother who has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair. • 14. What Is Grad School? Grad School Is Trash for Students of Color and We Should Talk About That Stop theorizing Black people like we do not exist. Currently, I am a Master of Divinity Student at Harvard University. I study divinity because I care about people at their core. I am concerned with, as Cornel West would say, "soulcraft", how one's internal conceptions come to be. And in turn, how our internal understandings influence our interactions with the world. I desire to help people by calling them into themselves and as result, hopefully, nudging them towards developing what is meaningful for them, career wise, interpersonally, aesthetically, spiritually– a better holistic self. Like many of you, I conceptualized Harvard as the pinnacle of educational...show more content... You can read about that experience here. However, in every class at Harvard, I must implore my colleagues to acknowledge theBlackness extends beyond theory, that Blackness is a living breathing human experience full of multiplicity and dynamic intersections. My classmates talk about Black people like we are some amorphous concept that they read about in that one Black studies course they had to take to satisfy their undergraduate degree. When I say, "uh, this article is racist," my colleagues respond with "but we can't just throw the baby out with the bath water." Which is code for, yes this is racist, but I will still use this article to further my own research and maximize my personal scholastic gain. Personally, I think we should throw out the whole tub. For me, I grew irreparably disheartened during a wildly racist incident in one of my classes wherein a student presented a project that blatantly suggested that Black people become human once we are educated and earn money. After the project was presented, myself and other Black students in the class expressed our deep discomfort, pain, and anger at the project presented. Following the assertion of our pain, we spent two class sessions debriefing the incident. The below paragraph is what I learned during these discussions. Higher learning is intentionally structured to preclude white people from truly interacting with Black people and people of color. • 16. Essay on Reasons for Returning to College Returning back to school was a very natural decision for me. It seemed to be the next logical step in my personal and career goals. My ultimate goal is to be happy and healthy and be a good provider and role model. With that set aside for now, my next goal is to be financially stable and able to provide for my family in ways that my family was not able to provide for me. I definitely expect to work for what I want and earn every bit of it. The most recent motivator was that my company was willing to contribute a huge chunk of the yearly tuition, therefore removing some financial burden. • 17. Reflection on Personal Goal for School Essay For this semester, I have set three goals that I will be working towards to make improvements on. The first goal I set is to start an assignment the day that it is assigned so that I do not procrastinate. The second goal I have set for this semester is to be more organized with my materials. The last goal for this semester is to relieve my stress in a positive way. By working on these goals during the next couple of weeks, it will make my life a little less stressful. The first goal I need to work on is doing assignments ahead of time. I always wait until the last minute to do assignments and then everything gets piled up. When I have a lot of things that I need to do in one day I get very stressed and nothing good comes from this. If I...show more content... In the future organization will be key because I will have to keep track of not only the materials I need to teach but also the materials and papers that my students hand in. By getting organized now it will give me practice on how I can organize my materials for my classroom. If I do not start getting organized then I will never learn how to organize things and it will be a lot harder to keep track of everything once I get into my own classroom. The last goal I have is to relieve my stress in a positive way. In the past, I have always kept my stress to myself and never really got rid of it. I would keep it bottled up and then eventually I would have a break down and cry. If I don't start working on this now, then in the future holding in my stress could result in me yelling or getting upset with my students for little things. I plan on going to the gym every day for at least an hour. This will help burn off the stress hormones that I have and take my mind off of everything for a little while. When I feel myself getting stressed, I can stop for a minute and just take a couple of deep breaths. This will help me during the day when I need a break. By starting this now I will get in a good habit of relieving my stress. The goal that is most important to me would be relieving my stress in a positive way. This is really important to me because stress can have a lot of negative impacts on my health if I do not get rid of it. If I do not find a way Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Why Grades Are Important Essay Yes, grades are an effective means of motivating students to do their best work. If there were no grades why the students would like to work hard? Do not they want to enjoy luxury and comforts in their youth? Surely, students want to enjoy their youth with luxury and comforts. They can not judge themselves because they have no scale of judgment. It is the instructor only who judges the students comparatively and gives grades to them accordingly. In this way, by receiving their grades students recognize their positions in the class. If their positions came to be low, they then try to achieve higher positions by working hard because they want to achieve their goal of becoming great persons. If he will not be able to get high money by producing a good variety of crops he will probably increase his working hours to achieve his purpose because he does his work only for earning money to live in. Similar is the case with the students. Students work because they want their instructor to give them high grades. Their future career depends on their grades they have made at this level. If they got high grade their future will be bright because everyone gives credit to grades. Therefore, if students will get credit for their work they will work even better for getting more and more credit. Otherwise, they will shirk work hard. Furthermore, God will also give rewards to those people who have done good deeds in this world. That is why; all people do their best of doing good deeds so that they may be able to get reward from God on their sacrifices and hardships. If there would be no reward from God, no one would want to do good deeds by facing hardships. Every one would be free to committing sins or other bad deeds which will results in turmoil of the world.
