Exercise 4 : filling in connectors
(p23)
The EiffelTower in Paris, France, and the
Statue of Liberty in NewYork City may seen to
be very different structures. However, they
have many similarities. Like the EiffelTower,
the Statue of Liberty was designed by a French
architect. Similarly, the Statue of Liberty and
EiffelTower both represented great
advancements in metalwork.The EiffelTower,
however, is taller than the Statue of Liberty.
The EiffelTower measures 986 feet. In
contrast, the Statue of Liberty is only 305 feet
from the water to the top of her torch. On the
one hand, you have the elegant black frame
and sharp point of the EiffelTower, and on the
other hand, you have the long, flowing robes
and lifelike torch of the Statue of Liberty. Both
monuments are equally beautiful.
