Introduction
 In 2011, professor of Harvard
university Daniel nocera invent
the artificial leaf which can
splitting of water To hydrogen
and oxygen using light from
neutral water, at Atmospheric
pressure and room temperature.
 Artificial leaf is like a living
leaves, it can turn the energy of
sunlight directly into chemical
fuels.
Daniel G Nocera
Objective
 Day by Day increment of Co2 emission.
 Increment of global warming.
 Lake of primary energy sources like fossil fuels.
 Find eco-friendly technology.
 Provide free energy for every single person on
earth.
Construction
Conti…
 Si alloys – act as light harvesting catalyst. It
capture sunlight.
 ITO(Indium tin oxide) – it’s conducting metal
oxide layer which stabilize silicon in water.
 Stainless steel – use for support.
 Co-OEC(Cobalt-oxygen involving complex) –it
help’s for oxidetion process and deposit oxegen at
anode side.
 NiMoZn(Nickel Molybdenum Zinc) – it help’s for
Readiction process. Combining H+ and e- that
produce H2 at cathode side.
Working
 Photons of light knock electron of silicon atom
allowing them to flow through the cell to a
NiMoZn catalyst.
 Water molecules at the cobalt catalyst end are
Brocken up into their constitute elements oxegen
gas and hydrogen ions.
 Oxegen gas molecules bubbles away. Hydrogen
ions migrate to the free electrons at the NiMoZn
catalyst.
 The hydrogen ions collect electron whereupon
they combine to become hydrogen gas which also
bubbles away.

Reaction
Anode(oxidation)- 2H²O--------4H+ + 4e- + O²
Cathode(Readiction)- 4H+ + 4e-------2H²
Overall Reaction – 2H²O-------2H² + O²

Artificial photosynthesis
Application
Fuel cell
Transportation
 Tata starbus Hydrogen cell
buss is zero emission
vehicle, best suitable for
intercity transportation.
 The car has fuel cell of
hydrogen and produce
water and electricity
ex…BMW(hydrogen 7),
Toyota mirai.
Conti…
Fuel Electricity generation
Advantages
 H2 is one of the cleanest form of fuel.
 It can store solar energy in Chemical form, that
solves battery storage problem.
 It can take place of foisel fuel and control the
pollution.
 It help’s for reduce CO2 from atmosphere and
control.
 No emissions of harmful product.
 By products is eco friendly.
 No need any external energy sources.
Key issues
 Over long time, material often corrode in water.
 Safe storing of Hydrogen gas.
 Efficiency is low.
 Overall cost is not yet advantageous compare to
fossil fuels.
 Efficiency of catalyst.
 Cost of catalyst
Undergoing Research
 Increase absorbing capacity of silicon through the
nanotechnology.
 Find material often than silicon, which cheaper to
produce. Ex…Iron oxide,Zr-Co-Si.
 Finding cheap catalyst. Ex…Mg,TiO2.
In India…
 Ratan tata’s dream come true.
 He has invested $15 million in a start-up firm
supporting research in the field.
Future plan
 Smart home,at a Day time
produce fuel in form of
hydrogen and store in gas
tank.when we want
energy then it convert
into electricity through
cell.
 It can produce enough
energy that we can run
our home appliances and
charge our hybrid car.
Conti…
 Co2 is available on the
mars atmosphere,than
we convert into usable
fuel through artificial
photosynthesis.
 The by product of
photosynthesis O2 that
we can use for breath.
 That mars is ultimate
source of energy.
Conclusion
 It’s gift from God which unlimited source of energy.
 Turning point of future.
 This technology is make unbreakable synergy with
nature.
 One day we end all of darkness from earth and our
planet sine like star.
Thank you…
