2. MAIN ASPECTS
I. The fire emits light
Mathew 5:16 – Let your light shine before others, that they may see
your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven.
God wants us to be the salt and light of the world.

3. II. God’s presence
Exodus 33:14 – The Lord replied “My presence will go with you,
and I will give you rest.”
God promises his presence with all his people
(as we’ll see in the following characters)

4. III. We will be unscathed, unharmed and
protected.
(The bush didn’t actually burn up)
Psalm 91 entirely talks about protection.
God also promises protection and guidance to all his people.

5. CHARACTERS FROM THE OLD TESTAMENT

6. SHADRACH,MESHACH,ABEDNEGO (Daniel 3)
• When they were put in the furnace,
the people saw 4 people walking
around(3:25)
• When they came out, the fire had
not harmed their body, not a single
hair on their head was singed, their
robes were not scorched and there
was no smell of fire on them (3:27)
• In the end, the king praised God and
sent a decree that everyone must
follow the God of Shadrach, Meshach
and Abednego
-The presence of the Lord was with
them.
-God protected them.
-They ended up becoming a light to an
entire nation by showing them the
true God.

7. SHADRACH, MESHACH, ABEDNEGO
APPLICATION:
• We should be like them, even when their life was threatened,
they still refused to turn away from God (v.11)
• Don’t worship idols or false Gods
• Have faith that God will deliver us [be strong in faith like them
(v.17)]
• Don’t go with the crowd

8. DANIEL (Daniel 6)
(Similar to Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego)
• God’s presence was there with Daniel when God sent an angel to
shut the lions mouth.(v.22)
• God protected him- When he came out, he was completely safe
and unharmed.(v.22)
• Then King Darius sent a decree that the entire kingdom must
follow the God of Daniel. (v.26-27)

9. DANIEL
APPLICATION:
• We must stand firm in what we believe in and not be corrupt(v.4)
[administers and satraps]
• Pray at all times
v.10 says “Three times a day, He got down on his knees and prayed,
giving thanks to God, just as he had done before.”
• We shouldn’t change our relationship with God just because the
circumstances change(our current situation)

10. GIDEON (Judges 6-8)
• An angel appeared to Gideon and said “The Lord is with you mighty warrior”
(6:12) assuring God’s presence with him (6:16)
• Gideon defeats the Midianites and Zebah and Zalmunna (with only 300 men)
• All the men of Israel were ready to let Gideon rule over them, but Gideon says
“I will not rule over you, nor will my son, The Lord will rule over you.” (v. 23)
So he a showed focus on God to all the men of Israel

11. GIDEON
APPLICATION:
• We should remember that if God chose us, he has a reason and a
plan, we just need to follow it
• Gideon did not take credit for his victory but gave it rightfully to
God

12. DAVID (1 SAMUEL,2 SAMUEL,PSALM)
• God’s presence was with him from when he was small
• While fighting against Goliath, God’s presence and protection was
with him
• He had passion(fire) for God and he danced undignified even
though he was a king
• David desired God’s presence(Psalm 63)

13. DAVID
APPLICATION:
• David was confident that God will deliver him
“The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the bear,
will deliver me from the hand of the philistines.”(17:37)
• We should have the same fire inside us like David did

14. NOAH (Genesis 6:9 to 8:22)
• Noah was righteous, blameless and walked faithfully with God(6:9)
and so God wanted to protect him and use him to start a new
generation
• God’s presence was with Noah as God spoke to Noah and gave him
instructions to build the ark (6:13)
• God protected Noah and his family by taking them safely on the
ark (7:1)

15. NOAH
APPLICATION:
• We must be righteous and blameless
• Even though the rest of the world may laugh at us, We must still
obey and follow God’s plan for us
• We must always thank God first
[like how Noah built the altar as soon as he came out(8:20)]

16. MOSES ELIJAH
(Exodus 3)
• God told Moses he was on Holy
ground (meaning God’s
presence was there) (v.5)
• The Lord’s presence was in the
form of flames(burning bush)
(v.2)
(1 kings 19:11-14)
• God told Elijah that the
presence of the Lord would
pass by (v. 11)
• There was a fire before the
Lord’s presence came in the
form of a whisper (v.12)

17. MOSES ELIJAH
• God protected Moses through
the entire 40 years journey
when they needed food and
water
• Moses led many Israelites and
was a light to them
• God protected Elijah during
the famine and provided
everything needed
• Elijah showed light on who the
real God is(Baal story-1 Kings
18:16-39)

18. PROPHETS
[Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah,
Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi-
Prophesied mainly in Judah and Israel]
• All the prophets were in one way or another a light to the people
• They showed light on God’s word and what was to come in the
new testament
• God spoke to all the prophets and his presence was wit them in
everything they did. And he protected and helped them

Even through hard times, we still have to hold on to God.
Don’t change just because the people around you or the
circumstances change.
Remember that God has a plan for us and chose us for a reason.
We have to be a light to the people around us and have faith that
God will protect us and be with us at all times.
